Bond of life: 007 ties knot

LONDON: British actors Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have married, a US representative for Craig said on Sunday.

“They are married,” said an LA spokesman for the 43-year-old actor, best known for playing superspy James Bond in the film franchise. He provided no more details.

People magazine said the couple, who were first cited as a couple last autumn, married in a quiet ceremony in New York on Wednesday.

Weisz, 41, won an Oscar for her role in ” The Constant Gardener” and starred in ” The Mummy.” The newlyweds play husband and wife in the upcoming “Dream House” , due out in the US in September. The British actors had been quietly dating. The wedding previously was reported by the British newspaper News of the World.

Craig is the latest James Bond and will star in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” He entered the international spotlight when he starred in “Casino Royale” and ” Quantum of Solace” as James Bond.

The James Bond star, who was married to actress Fiona Loudon for two years (from 1992-94 ), has a 19-year-old daughter, Ella. Craig was also involved with Satsuki Mitchell, before calling it quits in early 2010. Weisz, 41, who split from ‘Black Swan’ director Darren Aronofsky last November, has a five-year-old son Henry

Connery to appear before Spanish judge over ”money-laundering’ scam

London, May 8 (ANI): Scottish actor Sean Connery and his wife are being investigated for alleged financial irregularities relating to property he once owned on the Costa del Sol.

Connery and French artist wife, Micheline Roquebrune will be questioned before a judge in Spain for a property scandal in Marbella, Spain.

The couple had bought a beachfront mansion, Casa Malibu, near Puerto Banus, after their wedding in 1975 where they indulged in their love of golf in between his film projects, reports The Telegraph.

The home was sold in 1999 for a reported 9 million dollars and a developer later used the site to build a four-storey block containing 72 holiday apartments.

According to sources cited in Spanish daily El Mundo, the National Police seized 30,000 documents in the raids carried out on the Marbella and Madrid offices of law firm Diaz-Bastien & Truan, which handled the sale.

The raid operation was termed ‘Goldfinger’, after Connery’s 007 film of 1964.

Now, the James Bond star and wife are being investigated for planning abuses, embezzlement, money laundering and tax evasion. (ANI)

Ex-Bond Dalton’s voice lands Toy Story role

London, Sept 11 (ANI): Former James Bond star Timothy Dalton will lend his voice to a cartoon hedgehog toy named Mr Pricklepants in an animation flick titled Toy Story 3.

The announcement came from Disney/Pixar chief John Lasseter at a central London ceremony, where the animated slate of the joint studios was showcased, reports the BBC.ews was also let out that singer Mandy Moore will voice for Rapunzel in a cartoon film of the same name.

Disney/Pixar is roping in well-known names from Hollywood and the music world to voice their animation flicks.

Batman star Michael Keaton, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters are some of the celebs who be will be heard in cartoon flicks to be released over the next two years. (ANI)

‘Shaky’ Craig requests all-time security for Broadway rehearsals

New York, September 3 (ANI): Daniel Craig’s macho image may have suffered a setback after the actor reportedly demanded all time security while he prepares for his Broadway debut.

The James Bond star was said to have asked for personal security as he shares the stage with co-star Hugh Jackman in “A Steady Rain.”

“Everybody thinks it’s funny because the truth is, Daniel rarely gets approached by the public in the street and at restaurants-especially now that he has the huge handlebar moustache for this role,” the New York Post quoted a production source as saying.

Another Broadway insider said, “Security and secrecy around the show are so tight that Jackman and Craig are rehearsing at a secret location outside the city.”

The much-awaited drama is set to have previews next week and will open on September 29. (ANI)

Pierce Brosnan turns real-life hero, saves Uma Thurman

London, May 29 (ANI): Actor Pierce Brosnan became a real life hero when he saved co-star Uma Thurman from an out-of-control van, it has emerged.

According to the reports, former James Bond star was shooting on the set of ‘Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief’ when he noticed a runaway vehicle hurtling down a hill towards Thurman, reports the Daily Express.

The 56-year-old star immediately sprung into action. He jumped into the stunt car and pushed the brakes to veer into a curb instead of an assembled group of cast and crew.

Meanwhile, the actor undertook his first tour of the White House on May 19 and met with staff to discuss the preservation of whales.

Brosnan told Politico he didn’t meet President Barack Obama but was thoroughly impressed by his first glimpse inside the White House. (ANI)

The duo will star in new drama “A Steady Rain” written by Keith Huff and produced by James Bond movies producer Barbara Broccoli, reports contactmusic.com.

The play follows two cops from Chicago, Illinois, whose close friendship is pushed to its limits after they become involved in a domestic dispute in a poor neighbourhood.

“A Steady Rain” is due to open this autumn.

Sizzling photos of Oksana, who’s the mother of former ‘James Bond’ star Timothy Dalton’s son, have surfaced on gossip site Radaronline.com.

Grigorieva has been held responsible for breaking Gibson’s 28 years of marriage with Robyn, after she was allegedly photographed embracing him in Costa Rica earlier this year, reports Fox News.

Sir Roger Moore admits to fibbing in interviews

London, Apr 22 (ANI): Brit actor Roger Moore has revealed that he has no intention of giving up his lifelong habit of telling lies in interviews.

The 81-year-old James Bond star, who is also the author of the autobiography, ‘My Word Is My Bond’, also admitted that at times it is quite difficult to remember what lies he has told.

“I’m Walter Mitty-ish,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“I’ve lied all my life. The trouble is you have to remember what you’ve said,” he stated.

Moore further said that he has no regrets about refusing to talk about his three ex wives Doorn van Steyn, Dorothy Squires and Luisa Mattioli.

“Why would I say bad things?” Moore, currently married to Swedish-born Kristina Tholstrup, asked the Radio Times.

“They were lovely ladies who had bad taste in men.

“I’ve been exceedingly lucky. I behaved badly to a lot of wonderful people, often intentionally, and I apologise,” he added. (ANI)

Sir Sean Connery wins multi-million pound court fight over loaned gems

Washington, March 18 (ANI): Sir Sean Connery has won a multi-million pound legal battle over loaned gems to a late friend.

The 78-year-old had lent 4 million dollars to French-Swiss friend Jean-Ren‚ in 1972, and in exchange received shares, diamonds and property as collateral.

The former James Bond star was accused of making a huge profit from selling the assets when Ren‚ failed to repay the money and passed away in 2002.

Ren‚’s son Christian filed a lawsuit against the Hollywood veteran claiming Connery received far more than his original investment from the sale of the security, which he claimed, now stood at 50 million dollars as compared to 10 million dollars in the past.

Judges in Geneva, Switzerland, however, recently ruled there was no case for the actor to answer.

“I am pleased to announce the Tribunal of First Instance of the Republique and Canton of Geneva has entirely found in favour of Sir Sean and Lady Connery and has declared the demand the petition of the son of Jean-Ren‚ Canela totally inadmissible,” Contactmusic quoted his agent Nancy Seltzer as saying. Washington, Mar 18 (ANI): James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has been voted ‘The Sexiest Irish Celebrity’ in a new poll.

The actor scored 26 per cent of the vote in the survey, reports Contactmusic.

The poll was conducted by communications consultancy Eulogy! to mark St. Patrick’s Day.

Hollywood lothario Colin Farrell came second with 10 per cent, tying with singer Andrea Corr from Irish family band The Corrs.

Boyzone star Ronan Keating, and Girls Aloud stunner Nadine Coyle rounded off the top five. (ANI)

Daniel Craig ashamed of early film roles

Washington, Jan 16 (ANI): Hollywood actor Daniel Craig has revealed that he used to be so embarrassed of the roles he did in the early stages of his career that he would visit movie shops to try to get them taken off the shelves.

The ‘James Bond’ star was not reluctant to admit that some of his early roles were “crap”.

“There was a time when I’d go into Blockbusters and if they had a film of mine on the shelf I used to throw it under the counter. They would always be back there next time,” Contactmusic quoted Daniel, as telling American TV chat show host Jon Stewart.

Meanwhile, Craig was in news as he revealed that he is desperate to act in a Broadway play. (ANI)
