Eldest sister says she helped raise Michael Jackson

New York, Apr 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s eldest sister Rebbie has revealed that she helped raise her superstar brother.

When she was a teenager, her mother, Katherine, went back to school, leaving her — the oldest of the nine children — in charge of caring for the Jackson brood.

“I’m very much the big sister. I helped raise a lot of them. I took care of them and administered the disciplinary action,” the New York Post quoted Jackson as saying.

Rebbie revealed that memories of her role as caregiver in the family’s Gary, Ind., home came flooding back to her in the wake of the King of Pop’s death on June 25, 2009.

“When he passed, I thought about him the way he was as a kid,” she said.

She recalled the iconic star’s cherubic smile that first brightened stages as a member of the Jackson 5 and later as a solo artist.

After her brother overdosed on the powerful sedative Propofol, Rebbie, who lives with her husband, Nathaniel Brown, in Las Vegas, cancelled a string of performances.

She spent two and half months in California at her brother’s and mother’s estates, comforting her family and resumed her role as caregiver to Michael’s children, Prince, 13; Paris, 12; and Blanket, 8.

“I have to say, for a while, it was very difficult to listen to anything that Michael’s voice was on. That’s pretty tough to escape. Everywhere you go — food markets, departments stores, TV and radio — they are playing his music,” she said.

And now, almost after a year, Rebbie has said that she still wakes up in the middle of the night haunted by the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death.

His doctor, Conrad Murray, currently awaits trial on manslaughter charges for his role in administering the fatal narcotic and facilitating the legendary singer’s addiction.

“My brother had a problem with drugs, and he was in denial. There were many interventions by the family members, and I was involved in a lot of that. It was such a sad thing and it hurt so bad,” said Rebbie. (ANI)

Barrister fined over false documents

A former Mildura barrister has avoided a conviction for forging his wife’s signature to make and use false documents.

Ballarat Magistrates Court, in central Victoria, heard Graeme Jackson, 56, set up a company in 1992 to act as a family trust.

He made his then wife Kerryn the director and secretary of the company but did not tell her.

Between 1994 and 2001 he received her tax returns, forged her signature and deposited them on the family home loan.

Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of making a false document and five counts of using a false document.

The prosecution urged magistrate Peter Couzens to fine and convict Jackson, but his defence lawyer, Ian Hills QC, said his high profile client had already suffered enough through humiliation.

Mr Couzens fined Jackson $5,000 without conviction.

Shocking tapes reveal what MJ really thought about his family

London, September 20 (ANI): Michael Jackson had launched a string of verbal attacks on his family in secret taped interviews, it has emerged.

The King of Pop lashed out at his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon in the Jackson 5, calling them lazy moaners and dubbing them, one by one, as dull, a copycat, a womaniser and argumentative.

The singer then went on to criticize sisters La Toya and Janet, and even called mum Katherine “disappointing” in the tapes recorded with the ghost writer of his autobiography Moonwalk, reports News of the World.

And after realising that he may have gone too far in his rants, Jackson snapped: “You can’t print that.”

He reportedly said: “The brothers didn’t give me support. We’d be working on a TV show or video and they’d be sitting around moaning and groaning but I’d be watching and learning. It takes a talent, but some people are lazy and don’t want to develop anything.”

On Tito: “Tito is into the anatomy of how a car is built. He is a grease monkey. He still goes to the hobby shop and buys airplanes and flys them. He loves putting them together – they’re on these plastic things and you glue them. That is so boring.”

On Marlon: “People used to call him ugly and make fun of him – and people would say, ‘Which brother is that one?’. He constantly imitates me on stage. Whatever I do he’ll do right after me. I hate when that happens because he looks too “doo woppy” and so old-fashioned.”

On Jermaine: “Jermaine would be either be looking for girls or going along with the jokes.”

On Jackie: “He approaches everything with so much negativity and doubting.”

On Randy: “He doesn’t listen and is real hard-headed. You say it’s dark – he’ll say it’s daylight. And he has to be macho. I’ll never forget the day we had a meeting with our producer who said you’ve got to stand up on your own. Randy stood up and said: “I’m a man’ – we are all started laughing.”

On his mum, whom he always insisted as “the closest person in his life, a great mother and provider”, he said: “She disappointed me. She did an interview (about him). I don’t like her to talk. It’s none of those people’s business.”

He added, “She wished she would have had all boys. She told my sisters that – and they agreed! That’s how my sisters are – they are prejudiced against other girls.”

On La Toya: “To me she is Mrs Nice and Nasty. I come in her room (and she says), ‘You can’t sit on her couch, sit on the bed or walk on the carpet’, She wants to keep everything fresh.

“If you cough at the table she covers her plate. If you sneeze forget it, she’s in another room. If you clear your throat, you can’t do that while she is eating. And forget about going to the movies. She doesn’t understand what I see in Star Wars, Close Encounters or Jaws.”

On Janet: “Janet is a tomboy. That is why it kills me to see her off and married. We did everything together and were just alike. We write a whole schedule for the day and follow it. It’s a terrible loss.”

On dad Joe: “I would suffer if I had to spend a whole day with him. He is a very jealous father. He isn’t gonna show you love, but anybody that gets closer to us than him he would tell them, ‘Leave my boys alone!’.”

“To tell you the truth, I never have felt close to him. He has always been like a mystery man.” (ANI)

MJ’s brothers film new reality TV show

Washington, September 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon have been filming a new reality TV show.

Tito revealed the first episode of ‘The Jackson Dynasty’ was shot in March, three months before the King of Pop died.

“It basically shows the insides of the Jackson brothers, what they are about, what they are about musically, their recording and their personal life as well as their public life, as you guys know it,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling BBC6 Music

“We’ve had cameras follow us our whole entire lives, so that part of it is no problem. I have nothing in my life that I need to hide or whatever so I’m good with it. If anything, they’re gonna see how many girlfriends I have,” he added.

The series, based on the brothers as they prepared for a Jackson 5 reunion tour, will air later this year. (ANI)

MJ Vienna tribute gig postponed

London, September 12 (ANI): The concert in honour of Michael Jackson slated to take place in Vienna this month has been rearranged for London in June next year.

The singer’s brother Jermaine previously named a host of artists who would perform at the tribute that was set to take place in front of former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace on September 26.

But the former ‘Jackson 5′ member revealed many top artists were unavailable for the date due to prior commitments.

“Numerous stars were just not able to change their schedules to make a live appearance at the Vienna event possible,” the BBC quoted him as saying.

He added: “Many artists and performers who I have spoken to personally told me that it would be a great honour to be part of this memorial concert for my late brother.

“However, due to the short time-frame it was not possible for many of them to change their schedule so that they could be on stage in Vienna on 26 September, therefore we decided, after careful consideration, to change the date of the tribute concert to June 2010 – just a few weeks before the first anniversary of his untimely death.

“Now we have eight months to put this monumental show together and not just eight weeks.”

Organisers World Tribute Productions promised a refund to all ticket holders for the Vienna concert.

Spokeswoman Nina Elland also said: “We need time to confirm the location. We are definitely moving to London and Wembley Stadium is our favourite location.” (ANI)

MJ ‘to perform’ with bro Jermaine at Vienna tribute gig

London, September 10 (ANI): Michael Jackson will make an apparent comeback when he ‘sings’ a virtual duet with his brother Jermaine at a forthcoming concert in his honour in Vienna.

Former ‘Jackson 5′ member Jermaine will ‘perform’ with the King of Pop whose image will be projected onto the stage at former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace on September 26.

“Michael will reappear onstage and sing a song together with Jermaine,” the Daily Express quoted concert organiser Georg Kindel as saying.

Jermaine recently held a press conference in London. Though he did not announce any headline acts, he revealed details of the show that will see a host of artists performing the late singer’s hit tracks.

The 54-year-old hinted about his brother’s comeback with the help futuristic audio and visual techniques at the event which is expected to draw 65,000 fans. (ANI)

Jermaine Jackson backtracks on Chris Brown tribute announcement

London, September 10 (ANI): Jermaine Jackson has climbed down from his announcement that Chris Brown would form a part of the forthcoming concert in honour of his late brother Michael.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ member previously revealed Brown would be among a host of other artists to perform at the tribute set to take place in front of Vienna’s former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace on September 26.

But representatives for Brown, who is presently on probation for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year, subsequently denied the story, reports the Daily Express.

And now, Jackson has backtracked on his earlier announcement, saying he was only inviting the shamed singer to perform.

The 54-year-old said in a second press conference in London that he was not announcing headline acts but would like to see Brown be part of the show if he is allowed out of the U.S.

He said: “It’s up to the judge if he gets let out of the country or not. I’m not worried at all. He wants to be here. It’s just up to what he’s going through with his court case right now.

“He’s asked for forgiveness. If Christ can forgive him, so can we. People make mistakes, but he’s a wonderful performer.” (ANI)

MJ’s brother’s fury over ‘secret’ burial filming

London, September 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brother Randy has slammed the “surreptitious” filming of the burial of the late star in Los Angeles.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ singer reacted after a camera kept filming the private ceremony at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park on a hovering helicopter despite the area being a no-fly zone.

“I was dismayed last night and again today at the coverage I saw on television of our ceremony for Michael,” the BBC quoted him as saying.

“We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight.

“Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organisations decided to ignore our wishes.

“I therefore ask today that media organisations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future,” he added.

The King of Pop was finally laid to rest after he died of a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs on June 25.

The Los Angeles coroner ruled Jackson’s death as homicide. (ANI)

US reality TV stars expecting their 19th child!

London, Sep 2 (ANI): The couple from reality TV show ’18 Kids and Counting’ have announced that they are expecting their 19th child.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, from Tonitown, Arkansas, say that they are ‘thrilled’ to be expecting a new addition next spring, despite already having ten sons and eight daughters aged from eight months to 21.

“We are so thrilled. We just couldn’t believe it is happening,” the Telegraph quoted Michelle Duggar, 42, as having told People magazine.

Jim Bob, 44, added: “This never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We are looking forward to our first grand baby and our 19th child.”

The couple’s eldest son Joshua, 21, and his wife Anna are also expecting a child next month.

The Duggars have confirmed that the new baby will be given a name beginning with the letter ‘J’, just like all the couple’s other children.

The existing Duggar children are called: Josh, 21, twins Jana and John-David, 19; Jill, 18; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 13; Joy-Anna, 11; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 10; Jason, 9; James, 8; Justin, 6; Jackson, 5; Johanna, 3; Jennifer, 2, and Jordyn-Grace, 8 months.

If the Duggars continue to breed at the same rate the next generation will have 400 members, the third generation will have 8,000, the fourth 160,000, and the fifth 3.2 million.

This would mean that one in ever hundred people in America would be a Duggar, there would be more Duggars than Latvians, and there would be more Duggars than residents of America’s 21 least populous states. (ANI)

Mariah Carey regrets apologising for shaky performance at MJ’s memorial

London, Sep 2 (ANI): Mariah Carey has said that she regrets apologising for her shaky performance at Michael Jackson’s memorial service by writing on her Twitter blog.

The ‘Hero’ hit-maker was the first singer who went on stage at the ‘Thriller’ star’s memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in July.

Carey, who was close friends with the ‘Thriller’ star, sang classic Jackson 5 hit ‘I’ll Be There’ at the service, while struggling to hit the notes as she fought back tears during her performance.

After the show, she explained on her Twitter.com blog how she became overemotional when she saw Jackson’s gold coffin below the stage.

“Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him (Michael) there in front of me,” the Daily Express quote Carey as having written at the time.

And now, the singer is saying that she should not have publicly spoken out about her performance.

She, however, feels blessed that she was given the chance to sing at Jackson’s send off.

“I regret sending that message but I was very emotional and I wasn’t happy with my performance. But we all did our best to give Michael the send off he deserves. I just forgot the world could read that. I thought I was just talking to my friends. I shouldn’t have done that because that was really only meant for Michael. That was about him,” said Carey.

She added: “It was difficult just to get through the song because I feel as if I have been listening to Michael Jackson’s music my whole life. When I was a little kid I used to sing all his songs.

The whole world suffered a huge loss. The whole world is going to feel this forever. I feel myself blessed to have known him, to have performed with him several times and to have sung at his memorial.” (ANI)

MJ’s kids to place ‘Goodbye Daddy’ notes in his coffin

London, Aug 30 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s kids have written ‘Goodbye Daddy’ notes which will be placed in his coffin on his burial day, his brother Marlon has revealed.

According to the former Jackson 5 member, the notes will be placed in his coffin alongside the singer’s trademark single white glove.

He has mentioned that the King of Pop singer will be provided a special wig to give him flowing shoulder-length locks and that a make-up artist has painted his face to see him buried as if he was taking to the stage.

“This will be a private ceremony. His hairstylist has made his hair special and a make-up artist has gone in and fixed him up so he’s ready for the big day,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

He added: “This is the final step, the final curtain will be closed as regards to Michael’s life.”

Michael Jackson’s father Joe denies beating him as a child

Washington, July 15 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s father, Joe, has denied beating the singer as a child.

Joe Jackson has long been accused of ruling the famous clan with an iron fist during his time as the Jackson 5′s manager.

The late ‘Thriller’ hitmaker had spoken out about the alleged abuse at the hands of his father in several interviews, insisting that he would “regurgitate” with fear of his dad.

But in a new TV interview with America’s Chris Connelly, Joe Jackson denied that he punished his children more severely than other parents did.

“Michael was never beat as they call it. And everyone spanked their kids when they did wrong. But not beat,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

And Jackson insisted that it was his wife Katherine who handed out the spankings to their kids, as he was away on business most of the time.

“Katherine spanked Michael more than I did, ’cause I was working two jobs and she was at home with him the most,” he added. (ANI)

Jermaine Jackson to resume solo career?

Washington, July 9 (ANI): Jermaine Jackson has been caught amid speculation that the time is right for him to re-launch his music career.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ member touched hearts all over the world with his perfect rendition of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” at the memorial service of his younger brother, the late King of Pop Michael, on Tuesday.

And the late star’s long-time family friend and biographer Stacy Brown thinks that Jermaine may have the right opportunity at hand to return to the stage.

“This could definitely be a catalyst for Jermaine to resume his career. He was the only other brother to make his mark as a solo act and this could now be the right time for him to come back,” Fox News quoted Brown as saying.

Jermaine’s publicist was not available for comment. (ANI)

Mariah Carey dissatisfied with her performance at Jackson memorial service

New York, July 09 (ANI): Mariah Carey has admitted that she is dissatisfied with her performance at the Michael Jackson public memorial service held at Staples Center on July 7 in Los Angeles.

She stated on the social network site Twitter that the moment was too emotional for her to be at her best, the New York Daily News reports.

She said: “Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me, I could barely keep myself from crying.

“I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.”

The singer further wrote: “One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people he inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Britain’s Got Talent schoolboy Jafargholi to sing at Jackson’s memorial

London, July 7 (ANI): Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaheen Jafargholi, a 12-year-old from Swansea, will perform today at Michael Jackson’s memorial.

Shaheen shot to fame after performing the Jackson 5 hit Who’s Lovin’ You on the talent competition.

The Jackson family chose the youngster to pay tribute to the late King of Pop at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, telling him that the late star was a huge fan of his Jackson tribute act.

“Michael was a huge inspiration to me. I’m nervous, but I’m honoured and privileged to have been invited to perform here,” British tabloid The Sun quoted the schoolboy as saying.

A source at the memorial service said: “Michael saw a clip from Britain’s Got Talent on YouTube. He thought it was fantastic and was even considering getting him on stage to perform with him at some of his O2 shows later this year.”

Shaheen will perform alongside Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, and Usher during the 90-minute tribute.

The source added: “The family thought he’d be a great person to get involved. They wanted it to be about artists loved by Jackson, past and present. So he will add some youth to the line-up and is a great example of how Jackson’s legacy lives on.” (ANI)

Jackson’s ‘macabre’ sense of humour depicted in bizarre photos

London, July 5 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s ‘macabre’ sense of humour has been put on display in a series of bizarre photos published by a British newspaper.

News of the World has published photos of the King of Pop including one snap showing the late star playing dead in a coffin at the famous Madame Tussaud’s waxwork museum in London.

The music legend can be seen slipping into an empty wooden coffin in one of the images in Tussaud’s Chamber Of Horrors between waxwork models of evil women responsible for murders.he photographs were said to be the work of British snapper Tony Prime when the Jackson 5 visited the UK in 1979.

The snapper’s pal added: “Jackson was fascinated by the life of Chaplin and wanted to know all he could about where the comic grew up.

“Tony told him he would take him for a drive around and point out various places related to Chaplin. Then all of a sudden Jackson said he wanted to get dressed up as Chaplin so they took him out and bought him the clothes and a cane.”

Jackson was due to kick-start his much-awaited comeback tour at London’s O2 Arena this month.

He died aged 50 on June 25 from an apparent cardiac arrest. (ANI)
