Moss, her partner Jamie Hince and mother Linda, were asleep when the burglars broke into the house.

It is believed that the robbery occurred around 4am on Thursday and the robbers may have escaped following disturbances when Moss or Hince woke up.

The police have arrested a 24-year-old man and are questioning him.

“Camden Police are investigating a burglary at Greville Road, NW6, from approximately 4.20am on Thursday, May 20,” The Telegraph quoted a police spokesman as saying.

“A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with it and inquiries are ongoing,” he added.

Moss recently spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on works by Banksy, the guerrilla artist, including a 12ft by 18ft mural of herself and several celebrity friends which she reportedly commissioned at a cost of 150,000 pounds. (ANI)

Indian appearance like Sydney toddler reunited with parents

Sydney, May 18 (ANI): The toddler who was found wandering unsupervised on a Western Sydney street has been reunited with his parents.

He had previously been spotted by two off-duty paramedics and was in the police’s care.

His parents contacted the New South Wales Department of Community Services (DoCS) around 6 hours after he was found.

The reunion has come as a relief for the police who were even considering holding a press-conference to appeal to the boy’s parents to come forward.

“You can only just think about what could happen with a busy road with that number of vehicles at that time in the morning,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Perinth duty officer Inspector Cox, as saying.

Police will investigate the matter but it is too early to know if the parents will face criminal charges, he added.

“DOCS will advise us and police will be conducting further inquiries into this matter,” he told reporters. (ANI)

Man dies in car crash

A 35-year-old Wallabadah man has been killed in a two-car collision on the New England Highway, 30 kilometres south of Tamworth.

Emergency services responded to reports of an accident, near Gowrie, involving a hatchback and a sedan shortly after midday on Saturday.

The man’s 45-year-old wife and five-year-old son, also from Wallabadah, sustained non-life threatening injuries and are being treated at Tamworth Hospital.

Police media spokeswoman, Rebecca Walsh, says the driver of the sedan was interviewed at length by police.

“The male driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 59-year-old French National, was arrested by Oxley Crash Investigation Unit officers when he was discharged from hospital,” she said.

“He was later released without charge pending further inquiries.

“Police are still appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, and who hasn’t spoken with them, to contact Tamworth Police Station via Crime Stoppers.”

Brit women arrested for trying to smuggle dead relative on plane

London, Apr 7 (ANI): Two Brit women tried to fool authorities by checking in a dead relative on to a plane at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, according to officials.

The pair put the corpse in a wheelchair and even placed sunglasses on him to try to fool staff.

But while trying to check the deceased man in, suspicious employees alerted the authorities and the women were arrested at the scene.

It is believed that the 91-year-old German national had died a day earlier, and the women were trying to smuggle his body back home.

“The airport staff at the check in were not happy with the situation,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.he women, 41 and 66, were questioned on suspicion of “failing to give notification of a death” and bailed.

The pair, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, managed to transport the body from their home to the airport by taxi.

It is said that the driver was left “upset and devastated” after being informed of the incident.

The duo was apparently attempting to smuggle the body back to avoid fees for repatriation, which could cost up to 3,000 pounds.

Merseyside Police confirmed the man was dead on arrival at the airport.

“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 91-year-old German male passenger at JLA, due to fly out to Berlin on Saturday,” said a spokesman.

“Two people are helping police with their inquiries.

“We are still investigating the exact circumstances of the death, but don’t believe it is murder or manslaughter at this stage,” added the rep. (ANI)

Child inquiry to decide on government submission release

The Northern Territory Government says it hopes to make a submission to the inquiry into child protection today, almost a month after the deadline.

The inquiry was sparked following a number of incidents involving Territory children in care.

Child protection is run by the Health Department, but by close of business yesterday, the department hadn’t provided a submission to the inquiry it called.

The Health Minister Kon Vatskalis said the submission had been delayed because it contained a lot of detail.

He said the department would only present a written submission.

“The department decides to put a detailed submission together identifying a lot of the issues and also proposing a lot of solutions,” he said.

“It is much much better than giving an oral submission because the submission we will be providing will be showing the way forward to the inquiry and certainly we want the inquiry to be able to study in details our submission.”

Many groups have provided both to the inquiry, and during the hearings in Darwin last month the board described oral submissions as a useful forum to further interrogate issues.

Mr Vatskalis said when the department does make its submission, it will not make the document public.

He said the board of inquiry, including Howard Bath, Muriel Bamblett and Rob Rosebery, will decide if the submission should be made public.

“The inquiry, the panel will make a decision to put it them on the web page or not,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“And my understanding is that Dr Bath and the other members of the committee will make the decision themselves.”

Unlike most Federal inquiries, submissions to the Territory child protection inquiry are not being made publicly available.

The inquiry has been allowing all other groups to decide if they want their submissions made public.

The Opposition leader says the Territory health department’s involvement in a child protection inquiry is poor and inadequate.

Terry Mills says it is vital that the department gets physically questioned by the inquiry.

“It is necessary to take a bold step here considering the diminished trust the community has in the capacity of this agency and Government to protect children,” Mr Mills said.

“I would say go one step further, that is written submission plus to you must present.”

Increasing numbers struggle to pay bills

The body representing financial counsellors says yesterday’s interest rate rise will push the finances of many West Australians to breaking point.

The Reserve Bank has raised interest rates to 4.25 per cent.

The Financial Counsellors Association represents 91 counsellors based across the state and runs a free counselling hot line for people in need of assistance.

It usually fields 30 to 40 calls for counselling assistance each day.

The Association’s Charles Brown says demand for counsellors is high and there are lengthy waiting lists for help.

“It’s becoming busier and busier, the cases coming through are also becoming more complex because of people relying on easy money and credit in the past are getting to a situation where people just can’t pay bills.”

Mr Brown says in the last year the organisation has gone from having one staff member to ten, because of a huge spike in demand from middle income earners needing help managing their finances.

He expects inquiries for income management assistance to continue to climb.

“We’re already finding that most financial counsellors have a waiting list of two to three weeks.

“That’s as a result of increases in utility charges and any interest rate rises just exacerbate that situation.”

Police hunt laneway sex attackers

Police are hunting for two men who savagely attacked and sexually assaulted a woman in a Bourke laneway in western New South Wales.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was walking along Moculta Street, listening to her MP3 player, about 8:00pm (AEDT) last night.

She has told officers she was attacked from behind and struck on the back of the head before being dragged into a laneway and sexually assaulted.

Police say she struggled with her attackers before they ran off and she was able to raise the alarm at a nearby home.

The crime manager of the Darling River command, Brett Greentree, says all resources are on deck to find the attackers.

“I’ve got all my detectives working on this case, it’s a very savage and cowardly attack, so we’ve had investigators working throughout the night, we’ve got forensic experts from Dubbo who are examining the scene,” he said.

“At this stage we’re following a number of inquiries and leads and again we’re asking for any assistance at all from people in the community that may be able to assist us in bringing these two persons to justice.”

The men are described as tall and Aboriginal in appearance.

NBN roll-out slammed over power lines

The roll-out of the Federal Government’s national broadband network (NBN) in Tasmania has been criticised for its heavy reliance on overhead power lines.

The NBN company says about 70 per cent of homes in the first three Tasmanian towns to form the network will be connected by overhead power lines.

The Federal Government and Telstra are still trying to strike a deal on rental charges for underground tunnels and ducts.

Federal Greens Senator Scott Ludlam says using overhead power lines is more expensive and less reliable than underground installation.

“The information that we’ve received in Senate inquiries is that in the short-term, it’s cheaper to hang the cables overhead, but in the long-term, it can be much more costly and it can mean that the infrastructure is less reliable,” he said.

“I think we will be better off doing this in a much more measured way in which the infrastructure is buried.”

Indian-born British MP found dead

An Indian-born British MP has died suddenly at his home, police say.

Ashok Kumar, 53, an MP for the ruling Labour party, was found dead at his home by officers who had entered the property in Middlesbrough, north-east England.

“At this stage, it is too early to say whether the death is being treated as suspicious and inquiries are ongoing,” police said, adding they were treating the death as “sudden” and “accidental”.

The death comes weeks before an expected general election in Britain which is expected to be announced for May 6.

Labour faces an uphill struggle to stop the main opposition Conservatives ousting them from power.

Traders seek free camels from Australia

The Australian Government says it has been swamped by overseas requests for camels since efforts to control feral camels in Central Australia attracted international media attention.

Camel industry representatives say they have been receiving an average of four inquiries a day from people in the Middle East and North Africa who think Australia is offering free camels.

There are more than 1 million camels roaming outback Australia causing havoc, prompting a cull of the feral animals.

News that camels were being shot in the Australian outback became big news overseas.

The Federal Government has signed a funding agreement with an Alice Springs-based company to cull camels, but calls have been made to further develop the live export industry.

The Government’s trade body Austrade says it has also noticed a spike in enquires seeking free camels.

It has been advising people that camels are difficult to trap and expensive to ship, and certainly will not be transported free.

London, Sept 19 (ANI): Cops have said that they will not be investigating glamour model Katie Price a.k.a. Jordan’s rape claims.

Surrey police said they were unable to continue inquiries due to “a lack of substantiated information”.

She told pals: “I never expected it to blow up like this. I want it to go away.”

The reality TV star had revealed she was raped by a”famous celebrity”earlier this week, an allegation the star in question denies. (ANI)

Ship used in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ stolen

London, September 14 (ANI): The ship used in the film Pirates of the Caribbean has been stolen.

The vessel was legged from Customhouse Quay in Greenock Renfrewshire.

The raiders also took some cash, an 8x12ft American flag, a survival suit and a life ring.

But the US flag, an immersion suit and a life belt were all later recovered.

The ship, which was built for Marlon Brando’s 1962 movie Mutiny on the Bounty, has apparently sailed the world as a major tourist attraction.

“It is unbelievable. This ship has sailed all around the world and has never been robbed. But as soon as it gets into Greenock it gets turned over,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

The theft took place on Saturday morning, only few hours after arriving to give Scottish fans a rare glimpse on board.

Captain Robin Walbridge – who has skippered it since 1995 – said: “We don’t hold this against the people of Greenock.”

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: “Inquiries are on-going.”

UK cops tell salesman it’s ‘too expensive’ to collar computer thief

London, July 16 (ANI): Despite having tracked a thief who stole his computer, an English salesman failed to have any arrests made because cops felt it to be “too expensive” to collar the person.

Twenty-eight-year-old salesman Dale Fryer, of Cramlington, Northumberland, called cops after two 500-pound laptops were stolen, but their inquiries came to nothing.

However, Dale later went online, and found that one computer’s internet chat software was being used.

He approached the police with the information, and asked them to trace the web connection to an address.

Police officials, however, stunned him by saying that it would cost too much, and that the crime was “not serious”.

“This is not what I wanted to hear from people here to protect us,” the Sun quoted Dale as saying.

A police spokesman said that the civilian worker who Dale spoke to had been given a talking to, and that the crime was still being looked into. (ANI)

Brit boxer to be questioned following collision with a teen cyclist

Bolton, July 14 (ANI): British boxer Amir Khan would be questioned by police after he collided with a teen cyclist, who had been trying to keep up with the boxing star’s luxury car.

The incident had happened when the 22-year-old was driving his white Range Rover back to his home in Bolton on Sunday, The Daily Star reports.

According to reports, the 14-year-old boy had suffered head injuries after being thrown from the mountain bike.

A witness had notified after the accident that Khan had stopped his car to check the victim and said: “He seemed very concerned and stood over the cyclist, talking to him all the time. He crouched down by him at one stage.”

Meanwhile, Khan’s training camp is hoping that the inquiries does not hamper his preparations for Saturday’s WBA light-welterweight title fight against Ukrainian champion Andreas Kotelnik.

It is the third time in two years Khan has been involved in motoring incidents.

Earlier, he was banned from road for six months and fined 1,000 pounds, after being convicted of careless driving in 2007. (ANI)
