Jordan likened to ‘plastic Barbie’

London, May 20 (ANI): Diana Moran, the ‘Green Goddess’, has likened Katie Price a.k.a Jordan to a ‘Plastic Barbie’.

Moran claims that women suffering from inferiority complex are going for plastic surgeries so that they could like the glamour model, reports the Telegraph.

The fitness expert became known as the “Green Goddess” because of her garish leotards.

Still fit at 70, Moran blames the cult of celebrity for increasing the pressure on women to go under the surgeon”s knife. (ANI)

Civil Service Examination topper gets a warm welcome in J-K

Srinagar, May 8 (ANI): Dr. Faesal Shah, the topper of the 2009 Civil Service Examination, was given a warm welcome at his hometown in Jammu and Kashmir.

People from the neighbourhood as well as far-flung areas of the city gathered at his residence to welcome him amid drumbeats, flowers and garlands.

The 26-year-old MBBS graduate, who topped the list of 875 successful candidates, expressed his delight at the hearty welcome, and said he is happy to have proved the myth of indiscrimination for Kashmiris in the Indian Civil Services to be a wrong conception.

“There are many myths circulating in Kashmir. One of the myths is that we are getting discriminated; one of the myths is that we don”t have exposure, we don”t have talent; I think we will have to deal with inferiority complex that is inside us,” said Dr. Faesal Shah.

“I have proven today that a Kashmiri can do it in the first attempt and do it without coaching and he can do it from Srinagar only,” he added.

The locals lauded his success and termed it as the pride of Kashmir.

“We have talent as shown by Faesal Saheb. He has made Kashmir proud. We lack exposure that is the only problem. Rest is okay,” said Athar Sayed, a resident of Srinagar.

Transforming a hurdle into an opportunity, Dr. Faesal Shah coped with personal tragedy to become the first from Kashmir to top the Union Public Service Commission 2009 examinations.

The untimely death of his father in 2002 at the hands of “unidentified militants” days before his pre-medical test did not deter Dr. Faesal from clearing the examination or becoming the first candidate from Kashmir in several years to be selected to the Indian Administrative Service through open merit.

Dr.Faesal was born in Sogam village of Jammu and Kashmir”s Kupwara District. (ANI)

Meet ‘Scooter’ the pup that is smaller than a teacup!

Wellington, July 14 (ANI): Maltese pup Scooter, who is almost the size of a teacup, has every chance of making it into the Guinness Book of World Records, as he could be the smallest dog in the world.

The six-month-old pup is just 8cm tall, measures just over 20cm from his nose to his tail, and even though he is still young, he appears to have stopped growing.

Scooter’s size is also evident in his weight, or lack of it. He weighs less than a block of butter at 400 grams, and that too while he is wearing clothes.

Gisborne owner Cheryl McKnight fashioned a regular purple sock into a jersey, which Scooter wears so he is easily seen around the house.

“It really is quite something. I can’t take him for a walk or put a leash on him,” the NZPA quoted her as saying.

McKnight said six-month-old Scooter came from a litter of three, and stopped growing before he reached two months.

“He was the same size as the other two pups when they were born but as they grew, he didn’t,” she said.

“Dogs have to weigh at least 870 grams before they can leave their mums for the shops, and he has not even reached halfway,” she explained.

Even as Scooter scoots around the lounge floor plastic toy figurines belonging to McKnight’s grandson dwarf him.

McKnight revealed that Scooter feeds from an eggcup of food three times a day, and sleeps in a shoebox, but “does everything a normal dog does.”

However, making his way up steps is challenging for the pup.

“Because of the height of steps, they would be enormously big steps for him. It must be like living with giants,” McKnight added.

Scooter had originally been named Pee Wee, but McKnight decided to change it, saying that she didn’t want him to suffer an inferiority complex.

The current Guinness Book of World Records titleholder is a longhaired Chihuahua in America named Boo Boo, who is bigger at just over 10cm tall. (ANI)

Rupert Grint says snogging Emma Watson was like kissing his sister!

London, June 27 (ANI): Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has said that it was a “strange” experience to kiss Emma Watson in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

“We’ve known each other for 10 years so it was a bit like kissing my sister,” The Telegraph quoted him as telling the Mail.We were determined to get it right the first time, but our first try was a disaster because we both felt so self-conscious and we couldn’t stop laughing,” he added.

However, the actor is not too keen on dating anyone off screen.

He said: “I’ve never been seriously involved with anyone. I’ve certainly never been in love. I’ve always preferred to keep things casual.

“It’s not that I find it hard to meet girls – they do come up and chat me up from time to time. Sometimes I’m interested, I tend not to go for the prettier ones. I prefer the quirkier types.”

Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the wizard series also mentioned that he is insecure as far as his acting career is concerned, he said: “It’s always at the back of my mind that acting might come to an end for me when Harry Potter finishes. I don’t know if I’m good enough to have a long career,

“I’ve got a bit of an inferiority complex about my acting. My self-esteem is quite low in that sense.” (ANI)

Mulayam says his anti-English stand underlines role of Indian languages

Mulayam says his anti-English stand underlines role of Indian languages In defense of his supposed anti-English and anti-computers stand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Monday that he opposed the use of English in public life and in government jobs, particularly as he supported the development of Indian languages like Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Oriya, Kannada, and Marathi.

Yadav underlined the significant role that regional languages play in making a nation truly strong, and said that it is because of the cultural degeneration that SP is against making English “compulsory.”

Yadav said that his opinion about English and its use has been long-standing. He added that he was happy that SP’s stand on English, English schools and extensive use of computers had set off a countrywide debate. Talking to reporters, Yadav said: “I speak in the language of 110 crore people and not of 2 crore; for the Samajwadi Party, the politics of 110 crore is far more important than that of 2 crore. Only uninformed people opposed my views on English and computers.”

Commending Mahatma Gandhi for playing a central role towards making Hindi the national language, Yadav said that the increasing use of English and computers was instilling an inferiority complex in rural youth. With specific reference to computer-use, Yadav cited the situation in the US and Japan and said that widespread computerization will increase unemployment!
