EU draft sees private debt as parameter-Italy formin

June 17 (Reuters) – A European Union draft document foresees the inclusion of private debt among parameters for the stability pact, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told reporters on Thursday. “The reference to private debt was inserted into this morning’s document,” Frattini said. “The biggest resistance was expressed by Germany which has a very large private debt, but no other country so far has voiced such strong concern,” Frattini added.

Easyspace Launches Pre-Order Facility for New .CO Domain Name

GLASGOW, UNITED KINGDOM, Jun 15 (MARKET WIRE) —
Easyspace, one of the UKs leading providers of Domain Name and Web
Hosting Services, has announced the inclusion of the highly anticipated
.CO domain name to the extensive list of domain name extensions it
currently offers to new and existing customers.

Not launching for full General Availability until July 20th, Easyspace
have created a Pre Order facility for the new .CO domain extension to
increase the chances of its customers getting the domains they’d like.

.CO is a new domain name extension that offers people and companies more
choice in branding their online presence with a truly global,
recognizable, and credible domain name. And, with no geographic
restrictions on registration, businesses, agencies, bloggers, affiliates,
Internet marketers, developers, domain investors and anyone else with an
interest can access the extension.

While the domain is the ccTLD for Columbia, consultations with the
Internet community have led to it now being made available on a global
level. This global release associates the extension with words such as
Company, Corporation and Commerce for business use, while also targeting
socially networked individuals with words such as Communities, Content,
Connect, Communicate and Collaborate.

“We think this is a great addition to the domain world and believe
it will see significant sale levels in the coming months, not just from
Easyspace, but globally.” Comments Sarah Haran, Managing Director at
Easyspace.

The .CO is the 3rd major extension launched by Easyspace in as many
years, with .TEL released in 2009 and .ME launched in 2008. Both have
gone on to see significant growth and have become established extensions
around the world. Easyspace believe the .CO can find the same success as
.TEL and .ME after its General Availability launch on July 20th.

“The last couple of years have brought the launch of the .ME and
.TEL but, while both were global in their own right, they did both have
some restriction. .ME, for instance, was focused on personalisation while
.TEL was a communication tool with a different purpose to standard
extensions. The .CO, however, can be used by business and personal users
as well as being highly relevant extension to coincide with the
continuing growth in social media use.” Continued Sarah.

All .CO domains registered on the Easyspace system prior to full General
Availability will be pushed through the full registration system as soon
as it opens on 20th July. General Availability is a first come first
serve system. The cost of domains pre-ordered with Easyspace that cannot
be fully registered at General Availability will be refunded to the
customer.

Qadir welcomes Akhtar’s inclusion

Karachi, May 26 (IANS) Pakistan’s legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has welcomed the inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar in the national team for Asia Cup and England tour.

The former Test cricketer said the selectors took the right decision by including the pacer in the preliminary squad.

‘It’s a good decision, Shoaib Akhtar is a kind of bowler who can alone win matches for his team,’ said the former spinner.

Qadir, also a former chief selector said Salman Butt should be named the deputy of captain Shahid Afridi for team’s upcoming assignments.

‘Salman Butt is in good form and is a permanent member of the team, he should be named vice captain,’ he said.

On reviewing the ban on players, the former star said there should be no double standards and all the players should be forgiven if PCB wants to remove the ban against the players.

‘PCB should deal with all the players equally if it wants to lift the ban against the players, removing bans from one or two players would not be fair for other players,’ he said.

Qadir also called for a back-up team of youngsters which he said would pressurise the senior players to perform.

‘A back-up team is a must as it would add pressure on senior players to perform,’ he said.

I was expecting to be included in Pakistan team: Naved

Karachi, May 26 (IANS) Banned all-rounder Rana Naved is ‘deeply disappointed’ after being ignored in Pakistan’s 35-man preliminary squad for the upcoming Asian Cup and England tour.

The all-rounder said he was a expecting a place in the team after reports that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will include all the banned players in the team.

‘I am deeply disappointed at not being picked in the team, it’s a huge shock for me’, Rana told IANS.

The all-rounder who was one of the seven Pakistan players to face action by the PCB following the team’s failure on the Australia tour said the inclusion of other banned players in the team hurts even more.

‘Other banned players like Shoaib Malik and Younis Khan were selected, why I am not there? I was also hoping for a berth in national team,’ he said.

Rana, a former Indian Cricket League (ICL) player, said he would continue to strive to win his place back in the national team.

‘It’s a decision of the selectors and I have to accept their decision in any way but I will continue the hard work to retain my place in team,’ he said.

The all-rounder who is fighting a case against his one-year ban also expressed dissatisfaction on the hearings and called for open proceedings of the case.

‘I am not satisfied with the hearings in which we are not allowed to give our version… the hearings should be made public,’ he said.

Umar Akmal doubtful for semi-final clash against Oz in T20 WC

St. Lucia (West Indies), May 14 (ANI): Young Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal is a doubtful starter for today’s World T20 Championship semi-final clash against Australia.

According to reports, Umar was taken to a local hospital here after he complained of back pain, and would be going through an MRI scan later.

Any final decision regarding Umar’s inclusion in the final eleven for the all important match against the Kangaroos would be taken after his MRI report comes, The News quoted sources in the Pakistani dressing room, as saying.

There are speculations that uncapped young batsman Hammad Azam may replace Umar, if he is declared unfit to play.

Umar’s absence could severely dent Pakistan’s hopes of playing in the final of the ICC World T20 Championship for the second consecutive time, as he has been in good form in the ongoing tournament.

He scored a brilliant 51 of 43 balls in the last Super Eight match against South Africa at the Beausejour Stadium here, which helped Pakistan register an easy 11 run win knocking the Proteas out from the tournament. (ANI)

Waqar says fully fit pace attack critical for Test series against England and Australia

Islamabad, May 13 (ANI): Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis believes that a fully fit pace attack would the key during the Test series against England and Australia this summer.

Waqar told PakPassion.net that once the team returns from the Caribbean after the ICC World T20 Championship, the selectors would review options for the tough English tour, adding that he would like them to pick a few extra fast bowlers in particular to cope with any injury related trouble during the Test series.

He also expressed the hope that both fast bowler Umar Gul and all rounder Yasir Aarafat would get fit on time for the ‘home’ series in England.

“We need a lot of boys to be playing, we may bring a couple extra. We’ve got a long tour this summer. We have given Umar Gul and Yasir Arafat a rest. We need all those fast bowlers for the English conditions,” Waqar said.

When asked about the chances of young fast bowler Mohammed Irfan’s inclusion in the national squad, he said Irfan has got all the ingredients of becoming a world-class pacer.

“He is totally unorthodox, he”s tall, he’s got potential”. “I thought he might be good for the World T20 competition but unfortunately he couldn”t get into the side. I believe in the very near future he could get into the side,” Waqar said.

Dalai Lama included in 2011 census

Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), May 8 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, endorsed his relevant details in the form for the 2011 census.

His inclusion in the census has paved the way for bona fide Tibetan refugees residing in India to be reckoned in the census.

“We visited Dalai Lama and he signed the census form with great happiness. He said that he is staying here for the last 50 years and is very happy to be included in the 2011 census count of India,” said B R Chauhan, Census Officer.

“He also assured that all Tibetans in-exile would include their names in the census so that they can get their ensuing UID (Unique ID Card) that is at par with any authentic document of an individual,” he added.

The Dalai Lama expressed his delight at the inclusion of Tibetans-in exile in the 2011 census of India, asserting that he himself has been residing here for the past five decades.

The Tibetan population in-exile is being counted in the census of India 2011 for the first time.

The census of 2011 is regarded as the gateway for every citizen to obtain the proposed Unique ID card that the Central Government has proposed to launch. (ANI)

Styris determined to cement place in Kiwi Twenty20 squad

Wellington, Apr 24 (ANI): New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris is determined to cement his place in the playing eleven at the 2010 ICC Twenty20 World Cup to be played in the West Indies.

Styris is not about to take anything for granted, as he is aware that despite having been part of the squad for the previous two tournaments, as well as after a successful return to the ODI squad against Australia in March, he is still not back in the Twenty20 line-up.

“I didn”t make it for the home season, so at no stage have I thought I am in the playing XI,” said the 34-year-old Styris.

“I have to go out and put good performances on the board, otherwise I will find myself sitting watching these games, which is not what I want,” he added.

Styris”s inclusion in the T20 format of the game would be a natural step forward, as he had forced his way into the ODI lineup.

The New Zealand cricket team is taking a full-strength team to the West Indies that departs today.

Styris, a veteran of 29 tests from 2002 until his retirement from that form three years ago, 165 ODIs dating back to 1999 and 22 Twenty20s has been an in-and-out figure in the national side in the last couple of years.

“The selectors, over the last 12 to 18 months, have shown in their view. I am not in the Twenty20 side, so I have got to change that, whether I think I should be or not. It”s up to me to go out and try and change their opinion,” said Styris.

New Zealand plays the first game of the tournament against Sri Lanka in Georgetown, Guyana, on April 30. (ANI)

Inclusion in Pak T20 World Cup squad totally unexpected: Mohammad Irfan

Lahore, Apr 19(ANI): Rookie fast bowler Mohammad Irfan, who has been called up to play for Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies, has said that the call up was totally unexpected.

Irfan has been included in the 15-man Pakistani squad to replace injured fast bowler Umar Gul, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

“I was in a state of shock. I couldn”t believe what I was watching. Of course I had been hoping for this to happen, but never did I dream that it would happen as quickly and as dramatically as this,” Pakpassion.net quoted Irfan, as saying.

“I was preparing myself for a possible call up to play during the games coming up in England later this year, but this is totally unexpected,” he added.

Irfan further said he was officially told of his selection and congratulated by everyone, including skipper Shahid Afridi and coach Waqar Younis.

“Afridi said mubarak lambu you have made it into the team, and Wicky bhai said shabash (well done). This is the reward for all your hard work and perseverance,” Irfan said.

“I’m going to be fitted for my official Pakistan kit tomorrow, then I”m to report to the National Cricket Academy on the April 23 to join the team before we fly out on the April 24,” he added. (ANI)

Pak to use rookie fast bowler Irfan as ‘surprise weapon’: Afridi

Karachi, Apr 19(ANI): Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi is looking forward to ‘unleashing’ rookie fast bowler Mohammad Irfan as a ‘surprise weapon’ in the Twenty20 World Cup to held in the Caribbean, starting April 30.

Afridi believes that the 6ft. 8inch Irfan has the potential to shine on the international stage.

“I’ve faced him. He is really good. We can actually use him as a surprise package against our rival teams in the Twenty20 World Cup. He is pretty fast, but it’s his height that can really trouble a lot of batsmen,” The News quoted Afridi, as saying.

“He extracts good bounce. We are hoping that he overcomes the few hurdles which are still there and is with us in the West Indies,” he added.

The 30-year-old also spoke highly of fast bowler Mohammad Sami, who is set to make his Twenty20 Internationals debut.

“Sami is looking good. He has shown his strength and commitment in the camp and is bubbling with energy. I’m expecting him to do well in the World Cup,” Afridi said.

Irfan and Sami have replaced injured fast bowler Umar Gul and all-rounder Yasir Arafat, who have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.

Afridi also voiced the uncertainty looming over their inclusion in the touring party.

“Their selection in the team is still subject to approval from the PCB chairman. We don’t know whether we will get permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take part in the Twenty20 World Cup because we have selected him from out of the 30-man preliminary squad,” he said. (ANI)

Vatuvei hamstring injury a ‘mystery’

The immediate playing future of powerhouse Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei remains unclear after he suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury in the win over Canterbury.

The ‘Beast’ was not expected back until round six, but coach Ivan Cleary rushed the Kiwi international back into the team after he came through training well last week.

Vatuvei first damaged his hamstring in the Warriors’ round three win over Brisbane at Lang Park, but medical staff had full confidence the 112-kilogram winger would come through fine against the Bulldogs when he was brought in as a late-inclusion.

Cleary said he was puzzled as to what went wrong after Vatuvei hobbled from the field just five minutes into the second half of Saturday’s 30-24 win at Sydney’s Olympic stadium.

“I don’t know, it’s just a strange one that, there’s something going on there because he was right to play and did some good things but obviously there’s still a bit of an issue there,” Cleary said.

“It’s a bit of a mystery, but I’ll certainly appreciate it when he can get on the field.

“It started mid-week, he basically came through everything and trained on Thursday, got through the whole session, so we brought him over… and he got through everything.

“He was feeling really good so it was one of those things.

“(It was) possibly a risk, but he means so much to us and I’m sure he gave the boys a big lift being out there but clearly there’s a bit of an issue there and we’ve got to sort it out.”

Vatuvei showed glimpses of his barnstorming qualities in the first half, scoring the Warriors’ second try.

He said he did not know how long he would be out for, although another stint on the sidelines appears likely.

“I’m not too sure yet, it’s just kind of hard to tell how bad it is,” Vatuvei said.

“I thought it was bad (when I first did it) but after one week it felt pretty sweet, so I’m not too sure yet, just see how it goes through the week.”

Coast denies Palmer’s pulling the pin

Gold Coast United says there is no indication the A-League club is about to lose the backing of billionaire owner Clive Palmer.

Fairfax newspapers on Friday reported United owner Palmer was withdrawing his funding of the club, which finished third in its inaugural season earlier this year.

It is understood Football Federation Australia (FFA), which has endured a testy relationship with billionaire Palmer, has little interest in taking over and the competition would remain a 10-team league with the inclusion of newcomers Melbourne Heart.

The report said the iron ore baron on Tuesday sent “written confirmation that he would stop funding the club beyond the end of next week”.

Gold Coast chief executive Clive Mensink, a friend and relative of Palmer, was surprised by the report and was adamant Gold Coast would continue on as part of an 11-team competition in 2010-11.

But he did indicate Palmer, who is involved in a $3 billion float of his business holdings, may be open to sharing or off-loading the club’s licence.

“It’s a bit of a surprise but at the end of the day there are parties interested in the club and if that is the case we’re happy to have a chat – commercially you would be mad not to,” Mensink said.

“(Palmer) says there may be people involved in his overseas dealings that may be tying in with the club as well but there is nothing there at the moment.”

Mike Mulvey, who also coaches the club’s National Youth League team, says Palmer has given no indication of a change of heart.

“Clive Palmer has been a great supporter of the club,” he said.

“Just when we played the Youth League grand final [at Docklands] two weeks ago, he flew 50 of our families and supporters and friends to the game so they could watch it.

“That’s a sign of commitment to me.

“I am sure that Mr Palmer only wants what is best for Gold Coast United and FFA wants what is best for the game.

“When you have those situations you are always going to get agreements [and] disagreements from time to time, but I am sure it is businesses as usual.”

A Gold Coast United spokesman says the club is finalising a statement rejecting the media report.

Mulvey said he and head coach Miron Bleiberg are making plans for next season.

“Miron has been scouting around having a look for a couple of players in positions we are looking at, and we are also discussing some of the youth boys who had a very successful year last year,” he said.

“Eight of those [guys] will be turning up for the first team training on May 3 so I think you can say planning’s well underway from a coaching perspective.

“Miron and I are looking, with regard to both teams, very positively towards the future.”

United goalkeeper Scott Higgins was surprised on Friday morning to receive dozens of text messages asking about the club’s demise.

Higgins said Palmer had been with the players a month ago when United’s youth team won their grand final in Melbourne.

“I don’t know if there is any truth in it,” Higgins told Gold-FM radio.

“He was putting in plans for the future of Gold Coast United and was getting ideas off players.”

Pak’s history of nuke proliferation still playing on US’ mind

Washington, Mar.26 (ANI): A joint statement issued by the United States and Pakistan after the first ministerial level strategic talks between both countries mentioned the setting up of a policy steering group for further talks on ‘strategic stability’ and ‘non-proliferation’, which clearly indicates that Washington is still concerned about Islamabad’s poor track record in terms of nuclear proliferation.

The document, issued after the two-day strategic dialogue did not mention any date for future talks between the two sides but stated the “sectoral meetings” will be held in Islamabad soon.

Observers in the US pointed that the inclusion of “strategic stability and non-proliferation” in the joint statement shows that the issue of the nuclear deal did come up for discussion during the strategic dialogue.

They said that Islamabad, which has been pressing Washington for a India like civil nuclear deal, would not have agreed to talk on the issue of non-proliferation without an indication from the US that it would no longer seek to disengage its atomic programme, The Dawn said.

During an interview with a news agency just after the dialogue with his US counterpart Hillary Clinton, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, was reminded that the Obama Administration is hesitant over offering it a deal like India because of its concerns regarding the proliferation network run by the father of country’s nuclear programme Dr. A Q Khan.

“I think that is behind us,” Qureshi responded.

“I think they understand the new command-control structures we have in place. I think they are pretty satisfied with security and safety systems in place in Pakistan and there is recognition of that,” he said.

The joint statement also said that both sides acknowledged the common threat that terrorism and extremism posed to global, regional and local security. (ANI)

Afridi says he wanted Sami, Shahzab Hasan in T20 World Cup squad

Lahore, Mar.26 (ANI): Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi is not totally happy with the team he has been given for the upcoming ICC T20 World Championship in West Indies, and has said that if the selectors had asked for his opinion he would have picked fast bowler Mohammed Sami and hard-hitting batsman Shahzeb Hasan as well.

“I wish Sami and Shahzaib, who were outstanding in the RBS T20 cup, were in the squad,” Afridi said.

“I talked to Mohsin Khan (Chief Selector) and Waqar Younis (Coach) and discussed about the team (15-man squad), they said next time captain’s input will be considered prior to the team’s announcement,” he added.

He also questioned opener Imran Nazir’s inclusion in the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, saying he has failed to impress during the recent domestic T20 tournament.

“I had closely observed his last match against Faisalabad Wolves in the final of RBS T20 Cup but again botched to find runs,” The News quoted Afridi, as saying.

The flamboyant all rounder said he is hoping that the players bond well ahead of the coveted tournament, where Pakistan would be aiming to defend their title.

Afridi said he is looking forward to the upcoming camp for spending some good time with the team and help the players gel together.

When asked about areas where the Pakistani team has to improve, Afridi pointed out that fielding is his prime concern.

“Fielding is easily our biggest weakness. We will have to work really hard in bringing about an improvement in our fielding,” he said. (ANI)

Defence buys seven new choppers

The Federal Government has signed a $500 million contract with the US Army to procure seven new Chinook helicopters.

The seven choppers will replace an old fleet of six based in Townsville.

Minister for Defence Materiel Greg Combet says the new aircraft will be customised to meet Australian-specific mission requirements, including enhanced seating and the inclusion of mini-guns.

He says two of the seven helicopters are expected to be in service by 2014, with the other five ready by 2017.

Creating awareness among specially abled persons is a difficult task, says Abidi

New Delhi, Mar 15 (ANI): Activist Javed Abidi, fighting for the cause of specially abled people, believes that awareness and sensitization among disabled people is the biggest challenge for their enumeration in 2011 census.

“The greatest challenge would be to create awareness and sensitization among disabled people and their families across the country to ensure that every single person is enumerated…that every single people do not shy away from people for being labeled as a person with disability,” said Javed Abidi, director of NCPEDP.

The question on seeking details of specially abled people was first included in the census of 2001.

The achievement of 2001 census was the inclusion of the question on specially abled people in order to get the statistics of specially abled in India.

However, at most places, it was reported that the enumerators did not ask the question on disability. The figure that emerged was that only 2.13 percent of India”s population was specially abled people.

The data plays a major role in formulation of policies and allocation of resources. In India the estimated number of specially abled persons varies from two percent to about eight percent of the population.

The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) is now deciding on the question that is to be asked in census 2011 in order to get a more accurate data. (ANI)

Blaze cool about club future

Gold Coast Blaze chief executive Dave Claxton says he is confident the club will meet the criteria for inclusion in the next NBL season.

The NBL Commission is considering submissions from interested clubs and the make-up of the competition will be announced on Thursday.

Claxton says Blaze representatives will have one more meeting with officials from the governing body this week, and he is confident the Gold Coast club will meet the requirements, which include financial viability.

“Once the decisions are made into what teams are making up the league in 2010/11, those obviously would have had to meet the criteria laid out by the NBL financially to show the sustainability within their clubs,” he said.

“We expect we’ll be able to get a tick on that.”
