LogLogic Unveils Cloud Services for Partners and Hosting Providers, Appoints VP `Cloud Buster`

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(Business Wire)–
LogLogic, the leader in security and log management, today unveiled its Cloud
Services business model for service providers and announced the appointment of
Nadir Gulzar as Vice President of Business Development and Cloud Services.

For the past year, LogLogic has been silently collaborating with service
providers to implement cloud services solutions for enterprise customers.
Capitalizing on the scalability and flexibility of LogLogic`s Open Log
Management platform, LogLogic`s cloud solutions enable service providers to deal
with the complexities of large-scale distributed log management and compliance
reporting services.

Through a combination of physical and virtual log management appliances,
LogLogic offers service providers a way to capture and analyze log data
separately and securely for each enterprise customer, offering greater
visibility and control, as well as, fulfilling the strict compliance
requirements of PCI-DSS, HIPAA, FISMA and others. Services are offered via
utility pricing models hosted with virtual multi-tenant access for subscribers.

A recent survey found that financial services firms are avoiding cloud computing
investment, in large part due to data security and transparency concerns. “There
are three main concerns that every business has when they consider a move to the
cloud: multi-tenancy, security and visibility into where their data lives and
goes,” said Gulzar. “Log management plays a critical role in overcoming these
concerns. Together with our service provider partners, we`ve developed a model
that gives enterprise customers more visibility and control over their
cloud-based infrastructure.”

The list of MSSP`s currently working with LogLogic`s solutions is a who`s-who of
the Gartner Magic Quadrant and includes many household names, but more
importantly, there`s growing support at the grass-roots level as providers begin
to respond to the needs of their local communities.

FIREHOST

“Helping clients meet PCI and HIPAA requirements, affordably, is major focus of
our Secure managed hosting. The flexibility of LogLogic`s solution means we can
scale to the needs of our customers without worrying about being adversely
charged after-the-fact, and without compromising their security.” – Chris Drake,
CEO and founder of FireHost.

FISHNET

“There isn`t a day that goes by without an executive session articulating their
desire and concerns with moving to cloud services. Logging the cloud is a
critical component to smoothing this transition, puts the client squarely in the
driver`s seat with full visibility.” – Gordon Shevlin, Executive Vice President
of Fishnet Security.

IPCOMMERCE

“LogLogic enables us to verify the PCI status of our managed commerce services
platform with SAVVIS-hosted systems, so we can safely offer full payment card
protections to our clients.” – Peter Osberg, SVP of IPCommerce.

NETBOUNDARY

“The addition of LogLogic as a Cloud-based Log Management business model has
enabled us to be much more creative in servicing client needs. Our blended
`platform-as-a-service and Cloud-based service` approach enables us to deliver
services that are designed specifically to address our clients` unique
requirements; being agent-less, as well as infrastructure and
technology-neutral, allows our customers to rapidly deploy our services and
achieve compliance initiatives quickly and cost-effectively.” – O`Grady Milner,
CEO of NetBoundary.

In April LogLogic joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) to help establish and
promote best practices for securing data in the cloud. “The shift to cloud
computing is a serious responsibility. We have to establish a set of guidelines
and protocols for security and visibility that codify what has been IT
best-practice for years in the right companies. LogLogic’s vision is a key
driver in that conversation,” said Jim Reavis, founder of the Cloud Security
Alliance.

“LogLogic has demonstrated leadership in enterprise deployments, and with the
obvious business benefits of cloud economics it`s important for us to drive
security into this emerging business model, offering both logging of the cloud,
logging inside the cloud, and logging to the cloud,” said CEO Guy Churchward.
“Thanks to our `Cloud Busting` approach, we are addressing the fear of cloud
adoption and the part that security and transparency should play in allaying
this fear.”

In South African township, the passion lives on

South Africa (Reuters) – Barcelona soccer club have been training this week on a grassless, hard-dirt pitch in South Africa’s Mangaung township. Not Lionel Messi and his team of champions from Spain, but a group of local youths.

Sports

They have no sponsorship from Coca Cola, McDonald’s, or anyone else. They cannot afford tickets to see Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and other household names from England when they come to Bloemfontein to play Germany in the World Cup on Sunday.

Yet if the future of African soccer lies anywhere, it may well be with impoverished but impassioned kids like these.

“I wake up thinking about football. Football means so much to me. I think I will make it,” said Matthews Leeuw, an 18-year-old schoolboy, during a break in afternoon training.

The playing field is on a garbage-strewn waste ground in Manguang on the edge of Bloemfontein, a vast expanse of tin shacks, squat breeze-block homes, taverns and car repair shops.

The black residential districts known as townships are a legacy of South Africa’s apartheid regime and although they no longer suffer the political oppression of that era, many are still bleak, deprived areas where life is tough.

The goals have no nets, the pitch is strewn with broken glass, and the young players’ leave their clothes in plastic shopping bags after changing into ragged shorts and split boots. Cows sometimes wander over.

“Only the city people get chances. No scouts come down here,” Leeuw said.

Barcelona are run by Quentin Sewele, 26, a township resident who once played for local side the Mighty Lions. He started the team a year ago and they will make their debut in the city’s Metropolitan League in August.

He chose the name because he liked Barcelona, he said.

“I want the team to play like Barcelona. They are all schoolkids. When I was their age, I had a team, so I thought why not start one? It motivates them.”

He funds them himself, even though he has no permanent job. For their league debut, they will wear white T-shirts he bought at a local store.

NO TICKETS FOR THE BIG MATCH

The World Cup has thrilled the boys even though South Africa have gone out and only Ghana of the other African teams taking part look likely to progress to the second round of the tournament, the first to be held in the continent.

“It’s good for Africa. I tell everyone the time will come for Africa. This was not the time,” Sewele said.

He said he had three players he thought had future prospects and introduced a reporter to 17-year-old Kaptein Msiwonakele.

“Football means everything to me. I play for the passion. It is my first priority. I want to become professional, especially to play for Manchester United,” Msiwonakele said.

He said his parents had left him and he lived with his grandmother. He watched the World Cup on television with friends.

He was disappointed South Africa were eliminated but proud of their performance, which saw them beat 2006 runners-up France 2-1 in their final game.

“I’m still interested. It is the first time in Africa. Only Ghana are through but I think they are going to make us proud. They are going places,” he said.

They were excited about the prospect of the England v Germany match taking place in Bloemfontein and dreamed of meeting the likes of Frank Lampard and Steve Gerrard.

“I just wish we had some money to take these players to the stadium,” Sewele said.

Still, Leeuw said, the Barcelona boys had learnt a lot from watching the games on TV.

“We are the future. We want to represent South Africa.”

Now, chocolate bar that keeps wrinkles at bay

London, May 21 (ANI): Good news for chocolate lovers: A new kind of chocolate has been created that apparently slows the ageing process and fights wrinkles.

Made by the world”s largest chocolate manufacturer, Acticoa is packed with natural antioxidants, which can protect the skin from damage by harmful free radicals.

Studies have shown that just 20g a day of the chocolate could help prevent wrinkles by hydrating the skin and improving elasticity.

The time-defying bars, drinks and buttons are the brainchild of chocolatiers at Barry Callebaut, whose 7,500 strong workforce in 26 countries make 3- billion-pound worth of chocolate each year, supplying household names like Cadbury and Thorntons.

“Chocolate and health do not seem to fit together but it is a very interesting proposition: if I can eat something I like and it is good for me, that is great. Chocolate is probably at the bottom of the list when you think about making food healthier,” the Telegraph quoted Harry Vriens, of Barry Callebaut, as saying. (ANI)

Bundchen world’s highest paid model for second year running

London, May 14 (ANI): Gisele Bundchen, the 29-year-old who is married to American football player Tom Brady, earned 25 million dollars last year, making her the world”s highest paid model for the second year running.

In the Forbes’ list, Heidi Klum came in second with 16 million dollars in earnings, followed by style icon Kate Moss, also 36, who made 9 million dollars, through modelling campaigns, her clothing range for Topshop, and her perfume.

It is the second year the same three models topped the list, reports The Telegraph.

Steve Bertoni of Forbes said: “These contracts were written during the doldrums of the recession.

“So when companies decided on the faces of their campaigns, they wanted to play it safe.”

Adriana Lima, 28, came in fourth with a 7.5-million-dollar salary.

Dutch model Doutzen Kroes, 25, was placed fifth with 6 million dollars.

“These are the tried and true supermodels of the last decade … the household names of the industry,” Bertoni said.

Carolyn Murphy, who is the face of Estee Lauder, Roberto Cavalli and Anne Klein, earned 3.5 million dollars to grab the 10th spot.

The list represents earnings made from June 2009 to July 2010. (ANI)

Ex-Oz tennis star appalled over Wimbledon’s looks Vs form Centre Court selection

London, June 30 (ANI): The decision of the All England Club to take the physical appearance of women into consideration when planning their schedule for Centre Court matches at Wimbledon has left Australia’s former Federation Cup captain, John Alexander, appalled.

“That is an extraordinary thing to do. It is absolutely and totally inappropriate. We are talking about Wimbledon, the holiest place there is in tennis. It is absolutely absurd and I cannot believe it is the case,” Alexander told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The following women have all played on Wimbeldon’s hallowed Centre Court in the past week: Gisela Dulko (unseeded), Victoria Azarenka (8th seed), Sorana Cirstea (27th), Caroline Wozniacki, (9th) and Maria Kirilenko (unseeded, ranked 59).

They are hardly household names, but have one thing in common – they’re easy on the eye. Major champions Svetlana Kuznetsova, who won the French Open and is seeded No. 5, and Serena Williams, No. 2, have been pushed to the outside courts.

A spokesman from the All England Club, Johnny Perkins, was quoted in the Daily Mail newspaper in London: “Good looks are a factor. ‘It’s not a coincidence that those [on Centre Court] are attractive.”

Perkins later denied this.

“Looks per se are not taken into account,” Perkins told the Herald.

However, he acknowledged “box office appeal” was one of 28 points considered when courts were allocated.

Asked if being relegated to court two for an early round match bothered her, two-time champion Serena Williams said she was not bothered.

“It’s a really nice court,” said Williams.

Alexander said such things would not happen in Australia.

Australia’s Pat Cash, a regular antagonist, said that “sexiness” was pretty much all the women’s game had going for it with the competition overshadowed by the men.

Another Wimbledon champion, German Michael Stich, also maintained sex appeal was crucial to female players. “That’s [sex] is what they sell,” he said.

But the chief executive of WTA Tour, Larry Scott, denied appearance was paramount. (ANI)

NBC recruits Blagojevich as reality star

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Rod Blagojevich, recently removed from office as governor of Illinois, has made a deal to star in NBC’s upcoming summer reality show “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” the network confirmed Tuesday.

“Rod Blagojevich will be a participant on the show pending the court’s approval,” NBC said.

In the series, 10 celebrities of various backgrounds compete in challenges to raise money for their favorite charities.

The network has been looking for household names for its version of the U.K. hit, which launches June 1. NBC is taking the unusual step of airing the show four nights a week at 8 p.m. for nearly a month, and a successful launch could fuel the network’s entire summer schedule.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Blagojevich’s attorney told a federal judge Tuesday that he will file a request to loosen his client’s travel restrictions to participate in the show, which will be shot in Costa Rica.

After being impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives for corruption and misconduct in office and subsequently convicted and removed from office by the State Senate, Blagojevich was indicted April 1 on federal corruption charges that included 11 counts of wire fraud, three of extortion, one of racketeering and one of lying to federal investigators.

He has pleaded not guilty.

ICC chief says Pak team will draw great support in England

Sydney, Mar. 21 (ANI): International Cricket Council President David Morgan has assured that the Pakistani cricket team will receive great support in England if they play their “home” matches there.Pakistan seem to want to play in England and there will be a great deal of support if they want to play in England or Wales with a large number of Pakistani spectators residing in both these countries,” The News quoted, Morgan, as saying.

Morgan said that the important thing was not to reduce the volume of international cricket from Pakistan, and the other countries were also very keen to support this idea.

“Pakistan holds a prominent place in cricket and they have produced some of the world’s most attractive cricketers for 30 years, household names, perhaps disproportionately to any other country,” Morgan said.

Morgan urged other full members of the council to recognise the significance of playing against Pakistan. (ANI)
