Demi Moore threatens to sue blogger Perez Hilton over daughter’s pics

Washington, September 4 (ANI): Hollywood actress Demi Moore has threatened to sue celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, after she spotted a link on the latter’s site directing viewers to a set of “inappropriate” pictures of her teen daughter Tallulah.

The 15-year-old is the youngest of Demi’s three daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis.

According to reports, the snaps Demi is angry at show the teen baring her chest in a revealing top, and wearing a tiny pair of shorts.

Moore has expressed her disgust about the pictures on her Twitter.com page, accusing the blogger of flouting child pornography laws.

“Expect another letter from my attorney, kitten,” Contactmusic quoted her as having written.

Moore goes on to rage about Hilton’s “exploitation” of teens in a series of furious posts.

She wrote: “Clearly Perez Hilton isn’t taking violating child pornography laws very seriously. He might not but there are a lot of people who do! Anyone who advertises follows or supports Perez supports violating child pornography laws!”

She further wrote: “Let me ask all of you, what is it called when someone is telling people to look and focus on a child’s ‘boobs and ass’ while providing photos? (It’s) child pornography! Or just being a general pervert/creep. Disgusting! This is not a game. Children should not be exploited. They must be protected.”

Hitting back at Morre, Hilton called her comments “libellous, defamatory, inaccurate and stupid.”

In a post on his own Twitter.com page, he writes: “Thanks for drawing MORE attention to your daughter’s behaviour and your parenting skills (or lack thereof). U r (sic) real smart! That is CLEARLY not child porn. And I didn’t even post those on my site! I would not let my 15 year old daughter dress like that under ANY context. You are delusional and slightly senile!” (ANI)

Now, Berlusconi in a mess over ‘New Year’s Eve party for 50 young women’

London, May 30 (ANI): Silvio Berlusconi, apparently, has a thing for controversies. Speculations regarding the Italian prime minister’s relationship with an 18-year-old aspiring model are still on, and now, a new scandal has popped up.

Yesterday, Berlusconi was forced to deny that he had held a 2007 New Year’s Eve party for 50 young women, reports The Telegraph.

The denial followed a six-page article by the respected weekly news magazine L’Espresso.

The mag had printed an article under the headline “The harem of Berlusconi” as it reported details of the alleged party at his luxury Sardinian villa.

The magazine claimed that 50 young women were flown to Villa Certosa for a “political course” which involved “singing, dancing, shopping and lunch”.

According to L’Espresso, the party on Dec 31 was described as a “dream out of Pretty Woman” with the “most powerful and richest man in Italy entertaining a group of actresses, models and wannabes”.

Hitting back at the article, Berlusconi’s lawyer Nicolo Ghedini said: “The article is completely without foundation. It is fantasy and the sources are all anonymous.”

Noemi’s previously unknown relationship with Berlusconi came into the spotlight last month after his wife, Veronica Lario, said one of the reasons for seeking a divorce was that she could “not stay with a man who frequents minors”. (ANI)

Obama wows Europeans as Bush era is consigned to history

From cheering fans lining the streets to an adoring crowd packed into a sports arena, Obama-mania was in full swing in Europe on Friday.

The excitement generated by U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit to both sides of the French-German border was a sharp contrast to the angry protests that often greeted his predecessor George W. Bush on trips to the continent.

“I wanted to tell you that your name in Hungarian means ‘peach’,” a girl from Heidelberg, Germany, gushed to Obama, at a townhall meeting.

The style and substance of Obama’s tour were also different to Bush, who was unpopular among Europeans because of the Iraq war and a list of contentious policies.

While Bush usually confined his European itinerary to contacts with the political and business elite, Obama set out on Friday to hear the voices of ordinary citizens.

“What we thought was important was for me to have an opportunity not only to speak to you but to hear from you,” he said in the French city of Strasbourg where he held a townhall-type meeting, a question-and-answer forum he used in the presidential campaign.

Obama made the case for more NATO help to win the war in Afghanistan, seeming to test whether his pop-star popularity could be leveraged into policy gains with European leaders.

Not everyone was convinced.

“It will take a lot more for us to believe the war in Afghanistan is worth it,” said English teacher Stephanie Houley, 30.

HITTING THE RIGHT BUTTONS

From a stage at the Rhenus Sports Arena, he hit the right buttons for a European audience, admitting partial U.S. blame for the global economic crisis and promising a greater U.S. role combatting climate change than Bush.

The crowd cheered when Obama spoke of his plan to close the internationally condemned U.S. military detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and reiterated that torture would not be allowed on his watch.

Since taking office on Jan. 20, Obama has moved to roll back some of Bush’s more divisive security policies as part of his effort to repair the United States’ image abroad.

In scenes repeating his European visit last year as a presidential candidate, Obama was cheered when he arrived in Strasbourg and received a kiss from a woman in the crowd as he headed for talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Imparting advice to his mostly youthful audience, Obama also sought to counter a stereotype of Americans as a driven only by material wants, a view that only deepened by Wall Street excesses at the heart of the global economic crisis.

“I found at a very young age was that if you only think about yourself — how much money can I make, what can I buy, how nice is my house, what kind of fancy car do I have — that over the long term I think you get bored,” he said.

He also used his visit to France, a country that has sometimes had strained relations with the United States, to speak out against “casual” anti-American sentiment.

And he took his fellow citizens to task for “times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive” toward Europe.

Some in the Bush administration derided “Old Europe” for refusing to go along with some of its foreign policy moves.

Obama also said he missed the days when on a trip to Europe “I could just wander down to a cafe and sit and have some wine and watch people go by.”

Lady Gaga has been clubbing since childhood

Washington, March 6 (ANI): Hitting the clubs may be a common practice for Lady GaGa now, but the singer revealed she was no stranger to the hotspots even as a child.

The 22-year-old said, thanks to her ‘super cool’ mum, she had been club-hopping in New York for performances since high school.

“I’ve been playing out in clubs since I was in high school, since I was fifteen my mum used to take me [because] I was too young to get in,” Fox News quoted her as telling Tarts.

“My mum was super cool. She’d help me sign up and perform and then when I got to college I started gigging, I would ride my bike around or walk to different clubs in New York on the Lower East Side and in the East Village.

“You’ve got to play clubs, you’ve got to do amazing, you’ve got to fail, you’ve got to get standing ovations and need to be booed off the stage,” she added.

The “Poker Face” further recalled being awestruck by the gossip blogger and self-professed Queen of all Media.

She added: “I was playing at Perez Hilton’s bash so I invited my girlfriends to come, they were so excited. It was for Perez Hilton, he’s a big celebrity.” (ANI)

Speaker should disassociate from party after being elected: Chatterjee

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Friday said the Speaker should disassociate himself from his party after being elected to the post.

“Speaker’s disassociation will help in making the Lok Sabha impartial,” Chatterjee said after the main opposition alleged that he was behaving in a partisan manner.

He said that he was ready to quit from the post sometimes back, but the timely intervention of NDA Chairman Atal Behari Vajpayee and leaders of several other parties prevented him for going ahead.

Hitting out at his CPI-M, which had expelled him in July last year, the 80-year-old Veteran parliamentarian said that with the conclusion of the 14th Lok Sabha, he would no longer be involved in politics.

He, however, said that he was a Communist and that “Communism is not anybody’s monopoly”.

He said that he was now on the lookout for a place of retirement, and did not see himself taking up a gubernatorial assignment, even if offered.

India was unique on three ways- It had a Parliament that operated its own television channel, its members fixed their own salaries and judges appointed judges.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had described Chatterjee as the ideal role model for a Speaker transacting the business of the House.

He said that Chatterjee had during his five year tenure raised the bar of standard of the office for others to follow. (ANI)

Slumdog will bring new wave of Western filmmakers to India: Anil Kapoor

London, Feb 10 (ANI): Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has said that the runaway success of critically acclaimed film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ will bring a new wave of Western film-makers to India.

The story of an 18-year-old slum boy from rags-to-riches, based on Vikas Swarup’s novel Q and A, has raked in more than 60 million pounds worldwide on a 7m pounds budget.

In the film, Kapoor plays a coldly calculating quiz-show host.

“This fusion will be great for global cinema. It’s a collaboration of India and Britain, but at heart it is an Indian film,” The Scotsman quoted Kapoor as saying.

The film might have won several awards since hitting the box office, but the one he treasures is the US Screen Actors’ Guild award for best ensemble piece, shared by the entire cast.

Most important, Kapoor said, is the fact that “it has added to my audiences, which (numbered] about 1.4 billion people who already knew me as an actor. It has added a few more millions who know me now. That’s great for any actor.”

Hitting back at the criticism for projecting India as the “third world dirty underbelly” Kapoor said that the there is bound to be a media backlash after the film’s runaway success.

Slumdog is an exercise in storytelling by a commercial film, he says, not a documentary or political statement,” he added. (ANI)

Christiano Ronaldo faces police probe into £193,000 Ferrari smash

London, January 9 (ANI): Manchester United football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who has destroyed his 193,000-pound Ferrari only two days after getting it, now faces a police probe into how fast he was driving at the time of accident.

The investigators will try to determine how fast the 205mph car was going when it careered across a dual carriageway before hitting a barrier inside a tunnel under Manchester Airport, say reports.

Ronaldo was seen looking “shaken, dazed and very confused” leaning on the red Ferrari 599 GTB, which only arrived in Britain from Portugal on Tuesday.

Debris, including a front wheel, was scattered for 200 yards.

“It was carnage – bits of the car were everywhere. Ronaldo himself looked in complete shock,” the Daily Star quoted recruitment worker Jan Lear as saying.

Ronaldo gave a negative breath test, and then got a lift from his team-mate, goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. (ANI)

Odd-looking Martian craters indicate hidden ice

Washington, Jan 4 (ANI): Scientists have defined and analyzed odd-looking Martian craters, which according to them, indicates hidden ice.

Surface features common in the northern and southern mid latitudes of Mars and known as lobate debris aprons and lineated valley fill are believed to have formed either as debris flows mobilized by pore ice or as debris-covered glaciers.

To learn more, Ailish M. Kress and James W. Head, both from the Department of Geological Sciences, Brown University Providence Rhode Island, US, have defined and analyzed ring mold craters, which are abundant on debris aprons and lineated valley fill but not seen in surrounding terrain.

Ring mold craters are concentric crater forms named for their similarity to the cooking implement, in contrast to the bowl-shaped craters that are common at such small sizes.

On the basis of similarities in shape of ring mold, craters to laboratory impact craters in ice and of the physics of impact cratering into pure ice, the authors interpreted that ring mold craters result from projectiles hitting relatively pure ice below a thin debris layer.

These results support the hypothesis that lobate debris aprons and lineated valley fill are debris-covered glaciers and that many hundreds of meters of ice remain in these deposits today on Mars. (ANI)

Beyonce donates £4m to drug rehabilitation centres across US

London, : Beyonce Knowles has donated her entire 4 million dollar salary from her new movie ‘Cadillac Records’ to a string of drug rehabilitation centres across U.S.
