Wiesner admitted he transcribed the list as his client reeled off names.

‘Mysterious messages’ penned by MJ in final hours emerge

London, September 13 (ANI): A string of messages penned by Michael Jackson in his final hours have come to light.

Post-its notes and sheets of paper, scribbled as “wishes for the world” have reportedly been found on the mirror in the late singer’s bathroom.

The notes allegedly show the King of Pop’s bizarre state of mind before he died of drug addiction on June 25, reports the News of the World.

Pals of the singer believe Jackson was using the notes as means to prepare himself for his comeback concerts in London.

Note number one, found on the right of Jackson’s gold-framed mirror, apparently read: “I am so grateful that I am a magnet for miracles.”

Note number two, pinned to the bottom of the mirror, a message in large handwriting said: “Love, no violence ever!” And underneath, in smaller handwriting, he had added: “Remember a beautiful future promise of tomorrow.”

Note number three was a startling reminder to perform the hit charity single he recorded with soul legend Lionel Ritchie in 1985, saying: “Do We Are The World in show”.

Note number four read “Call Temperton”, referring to British songwriter and producer Rod Temperton, who co-wrote several Jackson songs including Thriller and Rock With You.

A source said: “It’s worrying that he had to write reminders about things as obvious as these while he was rehearsing for his tour…But the drugs he was taking obviously had a huge impact on his mind and memory.” (ANI)

Ashes hero Trott is also a diehard Hotspur fan!

London, Aug.26 (ANI): The signed England shirt and cricket stump will not be the only mementoes on the walls of Jonathan Trott’s Birmingham home. They will be given equal billing alongside his other most-prized sporting possession, his autographed Tottenham top from manager Harry Redknapp.

Trott, whose brilliantly assured second-innings century on his Test debut helped lay the foundations for the triumph, is not just a cricket lover – he’s a Spurs nut.

And he was gobsmacked that Redknapp, boss of the current Premier League leaders, sent him a shirt as a wedding present when he tied the knot with Abi in April.

Trott said: “The shirt says ‘To Trotty, Up the Spurs, Harry Redknapp’. Then there’s a card from him which says ‘To Trotty. Have a Great Day’.

“I love Spurs, I’m a massive fan and it would be fantastic if they could get into the Champions League to go with us winning The Ashes.

“Even during the Test on Sunday, I caught the TV at lunchtime and checked on the Spurs line-up for the game against West Ham, just to make sure Harry got it right. I wanted to know the final score while I was fielding but I never did and only found out after we had won The Ashes.”

Trott now looks a certainty to make England’s tour to South Africa having proved how cool he is under pressure – despite Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting’s claim he could crumble.

His Spurs allegiance was passed on from his English-born dad Ian and, growing up in Cape Town, he never missed coverage of them.

“I had loads of pictures on my wall and I’ve got tons of old Spurs shirts. I used to walk round with ‘Sheringham’ on my back. The first time I saw Spurs live was at Birmingham in 2003. I was in the Spurs end, we lost 1-0 to David Dunn penalty.

Despite being born and schooled in South Africa, Trott considers himself a proper Englishman.

He added: “I had a British passport from birth and can remember travelling to England in 1996 with the South African Under-15 side.

“Everyone else needed a visa and I just walked straight in. Mind you, I had more trouble getting back into South Africa than anyone else.

“My dad was born in England, my parents live in Surrey and my uncle and granddad live in Kent.

“I didn’t come here as a young guy just to try and take the cash back to South Africa. My home is in Birmingham, I’m an adopted Brummie and I’m very proud.”

Trott’s favourite memory of the triumph is not actually his ton.

He added: “For the rest of my life I’ll remember fielding at deep point to Michael Hussey when he hit it to Andrew Flintoff.

“I had a perfect view. Freddie’s direct hit was phenomenal and to run out Ricky Ponting was the defining moment of the game.” (ANI)

Flood-hit UP villagers forced to fend for themselves

Pipraghat (UP), Aug 26 (ANI): Pipraghat villagers are caught in double trouble. Hit by flood, they have fallen victim to the government’s complacency.

The village is among the many hit by the rising waters of Narayani River in Kushinagar district. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless.

The villagers of Pipraghat complained that they have not received any government help so far.

“This is Pipraghat village in Kushinagar district, which is very backward. Twenty-five villages have been affected by floods and 20,000 people are suffering from it.

But the government has not made any arrangement. It has only been providing us with a boat and 2 litres of kerosene oil.” said Prabhunath Yadav, a resident.

People say they are left with very little food and are living on shells.

“The water has not receded. We are fetching shells and eating them and there is also no help from the government,” said Batulia Devi, a villager.

The villagers are facing a severe shortage of drinking water, apart from kerosene oil to cook their food.

The government officials say kerosene oil is on its way to reach people.

“Twelve thousand litres of oil has been ordered which will be distributed to people. The revenue administrative officer will make a list of people and those in the list will get two litres of oil,” said Mahendra Shukla, district supply officer.

Narayani River has swollen due to rains in Nepal, where it originates.

The river flows through Champaran district in Bihar to Maharajgunj and down Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy downpour after a delayed monsoon has wreaked havoc in many districts of Uttar Pradesh which skirt the India-Nepal border since the waters of swollen rivers and reservoirs in Nepal rush southwards into these districts. (ANI)

Cash-strapped Brit couples prefer to buy practical gifts than luxuries

London, Aug 26 (ANI): Romantic presents like flowers and jewellery are fast becoming history, courtesy cash-strapped couples who prefer gifting useful and practical presents to each other.

That’s the conclusion of a new research.

The study revealed that almost 60 per cent of Britons preferred to buy a useful article as gift for their partners, rather than something that is not a necessity, reports the Scotsman.

The researchers found that most couples gifted jewellery to each other two decades ago. But now, they’ve been turned into gadgets like iPod, or DVDs and books.

Jewellery came in third in the list, but a kitchen gadget such as a breadmaker was named the fourth most popular gift.

One tenth of the couples admitted to have rarely gifted anything to their partners in order to save money, while one fifth said they did not exchange any gifts to save money.

The survey of 2,500 married Britons also showed that couples now spent about 196.47 pounds on each other at birthdays and Christmas, compared to nearly 230 pounds 20 years ago.

Three-quarters of today’s couples have even set limits on the amount of money to be spent on gifts, to ensure that neither overspends. Only 50 percent of those married 20 years ago followed the same.

It has also been found that people are spending less money on engagement rings. Twenty years ago men spent an average of two months’ income on their partner’s engagement ring, but now males spend just one month’s wages.

Jonathan Caplan, from gold-buying website www.mygoldmine.co.uk, said: “Times are harder, so it’s not surprising to see people are tightening their belts, but it’s sad to think that celebrations are taking the hit.

“Romantic gifts, however small, will be around and enjoyed far longer than the iPod, which will be forgotten for a newer model.” (ANI)

Peter Jackson says he is driven by fear of failure

Wellington, Aug 24 (ANI): Kiwi filmmaker Peter Jackson has revealed that he is driven by the fear that one of his mega-productions might end up becoming a flop.

But during the release of his mega hit movie ‘District 9′ in the US, he revealed that he was motivated by the sheer fear of turning out a flop.

“You’re always imagining the best, and then you always have to compromise for what you get in the real world,” Stuff.co.nz quoted him as saying.

“It’s a process of constant disappointment. But somehow you have to hope that you set your goals high enough that even with the disappointment, you still end up with something that other people enjoy,” he added. (ANI)

Anna Paquin does not mind getting naked

New York, Aug 24 (ANI): True Blood star Anna Paquin has said that she does not have any problems getting naked in the hit HBO show.

“It’s like, I’m sorry, maybe there are a lot of women who keep their bras on while they have sex . . . I don’t happen to be one of them. I don’t think the naked body is particularly shocking or interesting,” the New York Post quoted her as telling the new issue of Nylon.

She added: “People are incredibly literal sometimes in how they view you. You have dark hair and pale skin? You must be brooding.

“The second you dye your hair blond and get a spray tan, people treat you as if you’re a bit stupider and happier.”

The hottie along with “The Dollhouse” star Eliza Dushku, “90210″ star AnnaLynne McCord and Kristin Cavallari from “The Hills,” are to soon host a party for the magazine. (ANI)

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer accused of plagiarism

London, Aug 21 (ANI): Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has been accused of plagiarism by an American woman.

Jordan Scott has alleged that the 2008 novel Breaking Dawn has a “striking and substantial similarity” to her 2006 fantasy The Nocturne.

She has now sent a cease and desist letter to the publishers of the fourth book in the hit Twilight series.

Scott has also filed a lawsuit to stop the sale of the novel and seek damages, reports the Daily Express.

According to TMZ.com, Scott notes in legal document that the two texts “show striking, articulable and substantial similarities in the… plot lines, themes, dialogue, mood, setting, pace, characters, sequence of events (and) ideas.”

Another argument is that the new book is a “significant literary departure from (Meyer’s) early books” and appears to be “written by a teenager” – just as Jordan’s novel does, as she started writing it when she was just 15.

However, Meyer insists that the charges are “completely without merit.”

This is not just the first time that Meyer has been accused of plagiarism.

Her former college roommate Heidi Stanton had filed a lawsuit earlier this year claiming that the hit series was based on a short story she wrote while both of them studied at Brigham Young University, Utah. (ANI)

‘Bruno’ banned in Ukraine over ‘morality damaging’ claims

Washington, July 16(ANI): Ukraine has banned Sasha Baron Cohen’s new comedy film ‘Bruno’ claiming that it will “damage the morality” of locals.

The movie that has been a huge hit in both US and UK has come under fire in the eastern European country for apparently “unjustified” shots of genitals and homosexual sex scenes.

The move to stop the film from being screened in the country came after nine out of the culture ministry’s 14 members agreed to veto its release, Contactmusic reports.

In a letter to the country’s film distributor Sinergia, officials wrote: “The Ukrainian ministry of culture has decided to ban all showings of this film on Ukrainian territory.

“The film contains unjustified showing of genital organs and sexual relations and shows homosexual acts and homosexual perversions in an explicitly realist manner. (It also contains) sadistic manifestations which could damage the morality of citizens.”

The film stars Cohen as gay Austrian fashionista Bruno. (ANI)
