Israeli nationalist group urges Bar Refaeli to ditch Leonardo DiCaprio

London, March 13 (ANI): Bar Refaeli has been urged by an Israeli nationalist group to ditch her boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio in favour of a Jewish husband.

The supermodel’s affair with the actor has been hitting headlines since the couple began dating in 2005, including speculation leading to their marriage.

An Israeli politician has now penned a letter, sent on behalf of the Lehava organisation, calling for the star to “come to her senses” and not dump her Jewish descent, the Daily Star reported.

Baruch Marzel”s letter read: “It is not by chance that you were born Jewish. Your grandmother and her grandmother did not dream that one of their descendants would one day remove the family”s future generations from the Jewish people. Assimilation has forever been one of the enemies of the Jewish people.”

Marzel added that he “has nothing against Mr DiCaprio, who I have no doubt is a talented actor,” before concluding: “Come to your senses, look forward and back too – and not only the present. Don”t marry Leonardo DiCaprio, don”t harm the future generations.” (ANI)

The Bulgaria superstar explained: “He has told me that his church has grown a lot bigger. People are football crazy in Bulgaria and if his church is more full as I now play for Manchester United, then that is great.”It doesn’t matter what gets them to church as long as they get there to learn from him,” The Sun quoted Berbatov, as saying.

In his interview to the paper, he claims to be a simple, home-loving boy who owes everything to his mother and grandparents.

“I credit my success to my mother. Her prayers and support are everything to me. I know all she does for me and I know nothing I do can ever pay back the amount of support she has given me.

“My grandparents are very important too, my grandfather is a very wise man and a great man to talk to. When I am home in the summer I will go to his allotment and help him dig, then we will take the fresh produce home to my grandmother and she will make the most wonderful food,” he said.

“The allotment has been the place for some great chats and it was there where we talked about me moving to a club where I could win major trophies and I asked him what he thought about Manchester United.” (ANI)

MJ kids ‘to join Beckham boys at school’

London, Aug 30 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s children will join Beckham boys to step into classrooms for the first time in their lives, it has emerged.

All of Jackson’s three children were home-tutored when he was alive.

However, their grandmother and legal guardian Katherine Jackson’s wants them to join other kids of their age and believes this will help 12-year-old Prince Michael, one year junior Paris and Prince Michael II aged seven.

The Daily Express quoted a family friend as saying: “It’s going to be a culture shock for all three kids at first. But all of Michael’s brothers and sisters agree with Katherine that it’s time they stepped out into the real world.”

The King of Pop had once made plans of opening up his own school for his children, as he feared they would be “treated like freaks” in other schools but the plan could never materialize.

MJ’s children will attend the same 30,000dollar-a-year private school attended by the Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham. The Beckham’s third son, the fopur-year-old Cruz, is expected to join the school’s nursery soon.

The Jackson family friend said: “It is one of the most secure and security-conscious schools in America,” and rubbished all talks of the terrifying prospects of the school to Jackson’s protected children by calling them “totally unfounded” (ANI)

Muthoot’s family alleges conspiracy behind murder

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 29 (ANI): A week after Kerala business tycoon Paul Muthoot was found murdered, his family has refuted Kerala Police’s road rage claim saying that there’s something more creepy behind his death.

Jnanamma Thomas, Muthoot’s grandmother refuted Kerala police’s road rage angle, alleging a cover-up of a brutal murder of her grandson .

“They did not tell us there was an accident angle to it in the beginning. But only they told there was an accident,” she said.

George P Easo, a family member said, “Politicians are changing their statements every other day. We don’t know whom to believe.”

Earlier, Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has dismissed opposition Congress charge that his son had links in connection with the recent murder of Muthoot group scion Paul M George.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Balakrishnan said, “My son (Beenish Kodiyeri) has no relation with the case whatsoever. The allegation that Beenish had connections with wanted gangsters was to create a ‘mystery’ over the case.”

Rejecting the charge that the Home Department was trying to interfere in the investigation process, he said a deliberate attempt was being made by vested interests to hamper the probe.

The government had nothing to hide in the case and was open to “any sort of investigation”, he added.

Balakrishnan also announced that a special investigation team had been constituted under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Vinson M. Paul to probe the murder of the Paul Muthoot George.

He said that the team was constituted as the inter-district ramifications of the case and deeper links would have to be probed in detail. The investigation would cover links of Muthoot George with goonda elements.

According to the police theory, a gang of nearly 22 men was behind the murder of Paul.

Paul was killed last Friday night on the Alappuzha-Changanassery road. A friend who was with him was injured and is in hospital; both were stabbed.

Paul, who was based in Delhi, had recently returned to Kerala to take charge of the leisure and hospitality arm. He was returning from an under-construction resort at Mararikulam when he was stabbed to death.

On Sunday, police arrested 12 persons, including notorious criminals, identified as Om Prakash and Rajesh. (ANI)

MJ’s another ‘lovechild’ claims he’s not motivated by money

Washington, Aug 27 (ANI): A lawyer for the 24-year-old man who claims to be Michael Jackson’s lovechild has said his client is not interested in the singer’s money.

The man named Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson has filed a claim in Los Angeles, and maintains that the late Jackson was his father.e has even submitted a birth certificate naming Michael Joseph Jackson and Zerline LaVette Dixon as his parents.

Malachi Jet Jackson’s lawyer LeRue Grim said the boy’s grandmother brought him up after his mother became a drug addict.

The boy’s mother, Dixon was allegedly a fashion designer in the 1980s working for a clothing line under the company name of Michael Jackson.

Lawyer Grim believes Malachi Jet Jackson is not after MJ’s money but simply wants the recognition of his parentage.

Contactmusic quoted Grim as telling RadarOnline.com, “Malachi has been told his entire life that he is Michael Jackson’s son. His primary goal is to have closure on whether or not Michael was his father, and he wants a DNA test to prove it. Malachi’s primary motivation isn’t money.

“Malachi looks exactly like Michael Jackson. I’m seeking a DNA test and I’m very concerned that it be reliable and that no one slips in DNA from a stranger. Malachi never met Michael, from what I understand Michael was very private about his personal life.”

According to court documents in TMZ.com’s possession, Malachi Jet Jackson was pressurised by MJ’s family to hide his real identity, thus he has come out in the open only after the pop icon’s death. (ANI)

Grans may help keep kids away from developing negative age stereotypes

Washington, Aug 21 (ANI): The affectionate bond between kids and their grandmothers is well known. And now, a new study has revealed that frequent visits to nana’s place could keep toddlers away from developing negative old age stereotypes.

A variety of negative stereotypes are attributed to the elderly such as they are considered forgetful, hard-of-hearing, absent-minded and confused.

Lead researcher Sheree Kwong See from University of Alberta has identified that those stereotypes exist in some children at the age two and three, which could adversely affect them when they are older.

“We’ve been able to show really early on that kids, when they’re just starting to talk, have established beliefs about older people,” said Kwong See.

“We’re seeing what we could call ageism by about age three,” she added.

Kwong See and fellow researcher Elena Nicoladis measured the reactions of young children after being quizzed on vocabulary words by either an older or younger adult.

It showed that children who had less exposure to older adults had a stronger language bias against the older person than those who had more exposure to older people.

“If you are interacting with ‘nana’ more frequently, you’ll start to see that she’s a pretty good teacher of words even though she’s old,” said Kwong See.

“When you have little contact dominant negative cultural stereotypes emerge. You think an older person isn’t as alert or in-the-know as a young person and maybe is not as good a teacher,” she added.

However, Kwong See warns that frantic trips to grandmother’s house to curb the bias, is not the sole factor.

“They’re getting negative images of aging from cartoons, from their story books, from watching how other people interact with seniors,” she said.

“But, they’re also starting to pick up some of the positive images as well if they get lots of good interactions,” she added.

The study is published in the journal Educational Gerontology. (ANI)

Pocket watch found off Welsh coast returned- after 130 years!

London, Aug 19 (ANI): A silver pocket watch, which was lost 130 years ago, has finally being returned to the family of its owner.

The watch belonging to one Captain Richard Prichard lay at the bottom of the ocean for over a century.

Rich Hughes, a diver, spotted the watch in the sand as he explored a shipwreck sunk off the Welsh coast.

After bringing it to the surface, he saw the words “Richard Prichard 1866 Abersoch North Wales” engraved on the casing and set out in search of the family.

“I was amazed that the watch was in such good condition after laying at the bottom of the sea for generations,” the Telegraph quoted Hughes, 38, as saying.

“As soon as I saw the name it started me thinking about Richard Prichard.

“I knew he would be the master and commander of the ship – none of the crew would be able to afford a valuable timepiece,” he added.

Hughes discovered Prichard was the captain of the Barbara, a square-rigged barque which came to grief during a storm off the Pembrokeshire coast in 1881. He had mysteriously died earlier during the voyage to pick up a cargo of rice from Burma.

He was buried at sea and a new master, known only as Captain Jones, became the watch’s custodian – probably intending to give it to the Prichard family after arriving in Liverpool.

However, the vessel was hit by a storm and the Barbara sank off the village of Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire, in November 1881.

Hughes, of Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, used the internet to scan old manuals and shipping records and also took help of amateur historian David Roberts to trace Capt Prichard’s family.

The watch will be handed to retired dentist Owen Cowell, of Pwllheli, North Wales later this month.

Cowell’s grandmother was Captain Prichard’s cousin, making him the closest surviving family member.

“I am delighted the watch has come home after all these years,” said Cowell.

“It has come as a complete surprise to me that my ancestors had such a colourful, seafaring past,” he added. (ANI)

MJ’s kids’ custody may be claimed by a third person, says sister

London, July 13 (ANI): The debate over the custody of late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s kids further increased, after it was revealed that a third person might try to claim rights.

The ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s sister La Toya has revealed that her brother had made another will in 2007, in which he might have named someone else as the preferred guardian of his three kids Prince 12, Paris 11, and Blanket 7.

They are currently living with their grandmother, Katherine, after Michael named her as guardian in his 2002 will.

La Toya said that Michael actually wanted the kids to live with his eldest sister Rebbie, 59.

“Michael always wanted Rebbie to look after his children. He updated his will every five years – so we expect another one to emerge from 2007,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

It also been reported that Debbie and Katherine had struck a secret deal to stop Michael’s dad, Joe, also 79, having any involvement in the children’s upbringing. (ANI)

Prince William follows tradition, becomes an honorary barrister

London, July 7 (ANI): Heir to the British throne, Prince William, has been made an honorary barrister at one of the ancient Inns of Court but promised not to practice.

Prince William visiting the Queens room in Middle Temple, on the occasion of his Call to the Bench.

The ceremony on Monday at London’s Middle Temple saw the Prince not only being called to the Bar, but also being called to the Bench, the Inn’s governing body, The Telegraph reports.

William received good wishes from his “proud grandmother”, the Queen, who could not make the event as it clashed with another engagement.

The Queen regretted not being able to attend the ceremony but Sir George Newman, the Middle Temple treasurer, read her words of support.

The Prince made his acceptance speech in the Inn’s Elizabethan hall before almost 300 guests sat down to dinner and, in accordance with tradition, described his interest, hobbies and passions.

William told the law lords, senior barristers and law students associated with Middle Temple: “I play football, rugby and water polo, not very well, but particularly pride myself in being a quite magnificent armchair centre-back at football and flanker at rugby… and now you have made me a barrister – I promise not to practice, except for the odd speeding ticket.”

The Prince is the sixth member of the Royal Family to be called to the Bench as a Royal Bencher and is following in the footsteps of the Queen Mother, called in 1944, and his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, called in 1988.

William, who wore a gown for the ceremony, told the guests about his activities during the past decade, describing how he spent a gap year in Chile and Africa, had the privilege of serving in the Household Cavalry and was now in the RAF training to be an operational search and rescue pilot.

Talking about his charitable interests, the 27-year-old royal said he wanted to do what he could to help society’s “disadvantaged”, adding: “I’m also very interested in initiatives in creating sustainable development in the light of climate change.”

The Queen said in her message to her grandson: “I regret that I am unable to be with you this evening for your call to the Bench which follows in the tradition of Royal Benchers established at Middle Temple for my great-grandfather, the Prince of Wales, in 1861.”

In a reference to the Queen Mother, who referred to herself as the “woman of the domus” – or house – after become a Bencher, the Queen added: “I should not wish this message to be an unwelcome intrusion into this evening’s proceedings.

“However, as the daughter of the ‘first daughter of the domus’ and the proud grandmother of your latest Royal Bencher, I would simply ask that my warmest of wishes be extended to all present for a most successful and memorable occasion.” (ANI)
