Probe MCD Scam: HC

New Delhi, May 27 — The Delhi High Court, on Wednesday, directed the Delhi Police commissioner to probe the alleged scam of ‘ghost’ employees in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). A Division Bench asked the Delhi Police to complete the inquiry within two months and submit the report in court. The Bench discarded the report of the internal enquiry conducted by the MCD Commissioner which said the issue had been blown out of proportion and the blamed the new biometric attendance system for the discrepancies.

A PIL seeking a probe by an independent agency had alleged that 22,000 “gardeners” and “sweepers” existed as MCD employees only on paper and they were being paid salary.

Brit dog walker ‘snaps Victorian Age ghost in park”

London, May 15 (ANI): A dog walker has spoken of his amazement after snapping what he claimed was a Victorian Age ghost in a park.

Paul Reed, a father of two, spotted the phantom appear behind a park bench while he was walking through Kelsey Park in Beckenham, Kent, reports The Telegraph.

The man, 46, said he was walking pet pooch Harry in the park when the spook suddenly appeared.

“It was really spooky,” he said.

“Harry wasn”t his usual self. He was cowering back towards me and I must admit I was shocked when I saw the ghost appear before my eyes.

“Another walker said the ghost could belong to a woman who was buried in the park in the late 19th century,” he added.

Local Samuel Allan said: “There was a case of a woman being buried in the park in the late 1890s because she loved walking in it so much.

“It appears she still haunts the park and comes out now and again, much to the surprise of walkers.” (ANI)

Ghost exhibition organised in Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), May 8 (ANI): The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sanghralaya in Madhya Pradesh”s Bhopal city organised an exhibition on wooden idols of ghosts for the first time.

The idols included animals also.

“I found this exhibition quite exciting as I came to know that in States like Tamil Nadu, ghosts are worshipped. I belong to Uttar Pradesh and nothing like this happens there,” said Gaurav Saxena, a visitor.

“Such artistic forms of idols are being worshipped in southern India. People there worship more than 400 forms of ghosts. This is a unique thing in itself,” he added.

The curator of the museum feels that such an exhibition will not spread superstition, as the ghosts shown are actually gods and goddesses disguised.

“This is a ghost exhibition but one should not consider it to be fearful. Our motive was to showcase the aspect of religious faith attached to it,” said Ashok Tiwari, the curator of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sanghralaya (IGRMS).

“The effort is to show that these ghosts are the forms of Gods and Goddesses in disguise,” he added. (ANI)

Weeping girl’s ghostly figure in Brit hotel room’s mirror spooks couple

An investigation has been launched to find out if anyone from the staff witnessed the happening in room 307.

‘Dirty Dancing’ town planning memorial for Patrick Swayze

London, Sep 19 (ANI): Locals of a North Carolina community, where Patrick Swayze’s film ‘Dirty Dancing’ was shot, are planning a memorial service for the late star.

The ‘Ghost’ star died on Monday evening after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Many outdoor scenes in the film were filmed there, as was the cabin of Johnny Castle, Swayze’s character.

While the memorial service is free, visitors will be asked to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Rev Everette Chapman, who will be speaking at the memorial service, said that the town’s residents remember Swayze as a kind family man.

Chapman, who lived at Lake Lure when the movie was filmed but did not meet the actors, said he would talk about Swayze’s determination to live each day to the fullest.

“I’ll ask people their memory of him and just talk about him as every woman’s heart-throb and every man’s envy,” said Chapman.

Horny ghost on the prowl in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 18 (ANI): A horny orang minyak, which is supposed to be a ghost in Malay culture, is said to be terrorising about 300 families in Sungai Petani, picking homes where there are young women.

According to Kosmo!, Nurshahirah, 17, revealed that she was awakened at 5.40am on September 14 after she felt a warm sensation on her left ear, and when she opened her eyes she saw an apparition with curly hair and thick moustache standing by her bed.

“I was even more shocked when the ghost took off his kain pelikat and started to fondle himself,” the Star Online quoted her as saying.

Nurshahirah, who lives in Taman Keladi, said she felt powerless to ward off the apparition who started to grope her body, and that it was as though a charm had been placed on her.

In another incident, housewife Fatimah, 42, revealed she heard her two daughters crying out when they were woken up at 5am by dark apparitions that molested them.

Her 15-year-old daughter told her that she had been “violated” by a ghost.

“At first I thought she was talking in her sleep but she insisted that she was molested by a ghost before it moved to the kitchen,” Fatimah said.

She said her 14-year-old, too, cried and ran from the living room, saying a dark apparition had molested her.

“My 14-year-old daughter said she managed to kick the ghost who wore a kain pelikat and black singlet when she felt her body being touched,” she revealed.

“She screamed and the ghost ran out of her room,” she added.

Fatimah said she gave chase with a parang but the apparition disappeared.

She also said the apparition could have placed a charm on her family because none of the neighbours heard her daughters’ screams. (ANI)

Devotees visit Gaya to pray for salvation of ancestors

Gaya, Sep 7 (ANI): With the onset of the fortnight long ‘Shraddha,’ solemn Hindu ceremonies, a serpentine queue of devotees has begun trotting up the Pret-Sheela (ghost-stone) hill shrine in Gaya to pray for the salvation of their ancestors and get rid of the evil spirits.

Elderly faithful, from far and wide, are carried by kin and porters on baskets to pray for the departed.

After performing prayers at the shrine, devotees take a dip in the holy water to appease their deity.

“I have come here to pray for my ancestors. I am going up the hill to pray for them,” said Kashi Prasad, a devotee.

Devouts who performed these rituals believe this will relieve their ancestors of all sins and help their soul attain peace.

Hindus believe in reincarnation, or in the cycle of birth. They believe that the body changes with every birth but the soul remains the same.

The Hindu philosophy says this cycle can be broken and the soul can be put to rest forever by performing “Pind Daan”. (ANI)

Rachel Weisz a cavewoman to her boyfriend

Washington, July 13 (ANI): Actress Rachel Weisz has said that she is no less than a cavewoman when it comes to her boyfriend.

The Constant Gardner star who has been with Darren Aronofsky for eight years, and shares three-year-old son Henry with him, revealed she loved the director for being a “manly man” who is always “totally himself”.

“I love it that he doesn’t feel the need to fill silences with polite chat – his ability to cut to the chase is very exotic to me,” she added.

The stunning Oscar-winner further said that Darren was excited to return to Rachel’s native London, where she was due to feature in the theatre production of ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’.

She said: “For him it’s all so exotic. He’s enchanted by the city, especially shopping at Argos, pronounced ‘our ghost’ without the T!’” (ANI)

Demi Moore shows off washboard abs at 46

London, July 12 (ANI): Demi Moore is 46 years in age, but her beach body might just give women half her age a run for their money.

The ‘Ghost’ beauty showed off her figure in a tiny bikini in the Bahamas this week, where she is holidaying with hubby Ashton Kutcher, 30.

The mum-of-three has a washboard stomach that even rivals Kutcher’s six-pack.

While holidaying, the actress even gave herself a break from her punishing fitness regime, as she clutched a beer while fooling around in the waves with her hot husband.

“Demi looked fantastic – and you don’t get abs like that at her age without putting in a lot of hard work and spending a lot of cash,” the Mirror quoted an onlooker at the beach as saying.

Demi has defied Mother Nature through years of exercise and dieting, and what many claim a little help from the surgeon’s knife as well.

Although Demi has always dismissed rumours about her costly cosmetic surgery, she has admitted paying for unusual treatments such as a detox session involving leeches sucking her blood.

In fact, the ‘Strip Tease’ star has also employed an army of health advisers – including a nutritionist, personal trainer, yoga teacher and kickboxing coach. (ANI)

MJ’s new songs not to be released anytime soon

London, July 10 (ANI): While sales of Michael Jackson’s earlier albums have boosted in the past few weeks, the new music recorded by the late King of Pop before his death is not expected to be release anytime soon, revealed president of his record label Epic.

Jackson had been working on new music for several years with hip-hop and R and B stars like Will.i.am, Ne-Yo and Akon.

“We just want to pay our respects to Michael. We don’t want to be seen to be jumping on any bandwagon associated with his death,” the BBC quoted Amanda Ghost as saying.

In an interview with BBC 6 Music, Ghost said that “the appetite is definitely there” for new material.

“If we do release anything of unreleased material, it has to be fantastic and it can’t damage in any way his legacy or his legend and I won’t let that happen at Epic.

“I have no idea when it’s coming out, but it will come out on Sony/Epic. We haven’t made any decisions because we just want to be respectful for his memory and not be seen in any way as trying to cash in,” she added.

In fact, the release of new music could also be delayed as legal negotiations over his estate continue.

Bruce Swedien, a producer and engineer who worked on ‘Off The Wall’ and ‘Thriller’, has said that he believed Jackson was working on instrumental music as well as a pop album. (ANI)

Pattanathil Bhootham Movie Review

Ee Pattanathil Bootham movie is about  Jimmy ( Mammooty) who is an orphan. He is reared up by Krishnettan (Innocent) and runs a street circus group. Jimmy and Sisupalan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), are the expert bike jumpers and their daredevil jump acts are the major highlights of the group.

Jimmy is also a main enemy of the big mafia associated with begging industry, and has saved many street children from this gang of goons. These children ultimately become a part of Jimmy’s family. When Jimmy and Krishnetten join the big Jumbo circus group, run by Philipose, the children also move with them.

Later Jimmy is falsely accused of an offence and is sent to jail which leave the children with no one to care off.Into these troublesome conditions arrives the ghost, who helps the children from further worries. The ghost who befriends children also uses his super natural powers to fight the injustice in the society.

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is Kavya Madhavan’s maiden film released after her marriage. Kavya has only a limited role in the film, though she plays an important character.

Animation done in film is visible to the eyes of every other viewer who are watching visual amusements round the clock. Story line, characters, situations are all predictable and it is ok for a fantasy film like this. But it should have bound the viewers with its visual extravaganza. The film makes us remember Sakshal Sreeman Chathunni by Anil Babu.

Comedy by Suraj and Salim Kumar works well. Music by Shaan suits to film but is unimpressive.

Jackson fans spot ‘his ghost at Neverland’

London, July 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s fans are flooding the Internet with messages after allegedly spotting the singer’s ghost at his Neverland Ranch in a live TV programme last week.

A shadow resembling the King of Pop’s figure was said to have been seen on a wall in the star’s former home during CNN’s ‘Inside Neverland’.

The figure was later alleged to have walked across the corridor, rushing quickly from left to right before vanishing, reports British tabloid The Sun.

It was there that the fans reportedly spotted the shadow, and insisted it to be Jackson’s ghost. (ANI)

Cosmic “ghost” found lurking around supermassive black hole

Washington, May 29 (ANI): NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory has found a cosmic “ghost” lurking around a distant supermassive black hole, which is the first detection of such a high-energy apparition, and may be evidence of a huge eruption produced by the black hole.

The X-ray ghost, so-called because a diffuse X-ray source has remained after other radiation from the outburst has died away, is in the Chandra Deep Field-North, one of the deepest X-ray images ever taken.

The source, a.k.a. HDF 130, is over 10 billion light-years away and existed at a time 3 billion years after the Big Bang, when galaxies and black holes were forming at a high rate.

“We’d seen this fuzzy object a few years ago, but didn’t realize until now that we were seeing a ghost”, said Andy Fabian of the Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.

“It’s not out there to haunt us, rather it’s telling us something – in this case what was happening in this galaxy billions of year ago,” he added.

Fabian and colleagues think the X-ray glow from HDF 130 is evidence for a powerful outburst from its central black hole in the form of jets of energetic particles traveling at almost the speed of light.

When the eruption was ongoing, it produced prodigious amounts of radio and X-radiation, but after several million years, the radio signal faded from view as the electrons radiated away their energy.

However, less energetic electrons can still produce X-rays by interacting with the pervasive sea of photons remaining from the Big Bang – the cosmic background radiation.

Collisions between these electrons and the background photons can impart enough energy to the photons to boost them into the X-ray energy band.

This process produces an extended X-ray source that lasts for another 30 million years or so.

“This ghost tells us about the black hole’s eruption long after it has died,” said co-author Scott Chapman, also of Cambridge University. “This means we don’t have to catch the black holes in the act to witness the big impact they have,” he added.

This is the first X-ray ghost ever seen after the demise of radio-bright jets.

In HDF 130, only a point source is detected in radio images, coinciding with the massive elliptical galaxy seen in its optical image.

This radio source indicates the presence of a growing supermassive black hole.

“This result hints that the X-ray sky should be littered with such ghosts, especially if black hole eruptions are as common as we think they are in the early Universe,” said co-author Caitlin Casey, also of Cambridge. (ANI)

He revealed that he was in London when Cobain ended his own life in 1994.
