Rooney hurls his boots at Turkish fans while trudging off

London, Sep.16 (ANI): England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney hurled his boot in fury after being subbed in Turkey last night.

The fiery Manchester United striker blanked boss Alex Ferguson as he trudged off in the 63rd minute.

He exchanged verbals with some Besiktas fans who, were taunting him, prompting security guards to move in – and then threw his boot to the floor, reports The Sun.

Boss Ferguson said: “Wayne is never pleased coming off. He has that kind of energy where he wants to play all the time. Wayne played as a lone striker for an hour and it was always the case that he was coming off.”

Ferguson said that he had been told about an altercation between the player and fans but that he had not seen it. (ANI)

MJ’s brother’s fury over ‘secret’ burial filming

London, September 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brother Randy has slammed the “surreptitious” filming of the burial of the late star in Los Angeles.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ singer reacted after a camera kept filming the private ceremony at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park on a hovering helicopter despite the area being a no-fly zone.

“I was dismayed last night and again today at the coverage I saw on television of our ceremony for Michael,” the BBC quoted him as saying.

“We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight.

“Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organisations decided to ignore our wishes.

“I therefore ask today that media organisations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future,” he added.

The King of Pop was finally laid to rest after he died of a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs on June 25.

The Los Angeles coroner ruled Jackson’s death as homicide. (ANI)

Death toll in Bihar floods reaches 52

Patna, Aug 29(ANI): The flood situation in Bihar further worsened on Saturday as Kosi River continued to unleash its fury in several districts, pushing the death toll to 52.

According to officials, 12 fresh deaths were reported from Purnia, four from Sitamarhi, three from Saharsa and two each from Madhubani and Darbhanga.

They also informed that relief and rescue operations were going on at affected areas with the help of four National Disaster Response Force teams, who are equipped with about 1000 boats.

According to an official report, swirling waters affected scores of villages under Bahadurganj, Terhagachhi, Dighalbank, Kochadhaman, Bahadurganj, and Potahi in Kishanganj district.

Floods have so far affected more than 50 villages, while many villages were submerged in Banmankhi and Krityanandnagar blocks in Western Purnia by the turbulent river, which was steadily eroding its embankment.

Meanwhile, about 1,00,000 marooned people have been evacuated so far, a large number of them by Government boats and many on their own saved their lives.

Four helicopters and 200 country boats are working overtime to ferry the men and material to safe destinations. (ANI)

Image of different regions of Trifid Nebula captured by European Southern Observatory

Munich, August 27 (ANI): A new image by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) has captured the different regions of the Trifid Nebula, which is a rare combination of three nebula types, as seen in visible light.

This massive star factory is so named for the dark dust bands that trisect its glowing heart, revealing the fury of freshly formed stars and presaging more star birth.

Smoldering several thousand light-years away in the constellation of Sagittarius (the Archer), the Trifid Nebula presents a compelling portrait of the early stages of a star’s life, from gestation to first light.

The heat and “winds” of newly ignited, volatile stars stir the Trifid’s gas and dust-filled cauldron.

In time, the dark tendrils of matter strewn throughout the area will themselves collapse and form new stars.

The French astronomer Charles Messier first observed the Trifid Nebula in June 1764, recording the hazy, glowing object as entry number 20 in his renowned catalogue.

Observations made about 60 years later by John Herschel of the dust lanes that appear to divide the cosmic cloud into three lobes inspired the English astronomer to coin the name “Trifid”.

Made with the Wide-Field Imager camera attached to the MPG/ESO 2.2-meter telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in northern Chile, the new image prominently displays the different regions of the Trifid Nebula as seen in visible light.

In the bluish patch to the upper left of the image, called a reflection nebula, gas scatters the light from nearby, Trifid-born stars.

The largest of these stars shines most brightly in the hot, blue portion of the visible spectrum.

This, along with the fact that dust grains and molecules scatter blue light more efficiently than red light, imbues this portion of the Trifid Nebula with an azure hue.

Below, in the round, pink-reddish area typical of an emission nebula, the gas at the Trifid’s core is heated by hundreds of scorching young stars until it emits the red signature light of hydrogen, the major component of the gas, just as hot neon gas glows red-orange in illuminated signs all over the world.

The gases and dust that crisscross the Trifid Nebula make up the third kind of nebula in this cosmic cloud, known as dark nebulae, courtesy of their light-obscuring effects.

Within these dark lanes, the remnants of previous star birth episodes continue to coalesce under gravity’s inexorable attraction.

The rising density, pressure and temperature inside these gaseous blobs will eventually trigger nuclear fusion, and yet more stars will form. (ANI)

Tribals block national highway alleging security forces for atrocities

Durgapur (West Bengal), June 30 (ANI): Armed with bows and arrows, many tribals blocked the national highway leading to Durgapur in Hooghly district of West Bengal on Tuesday to express their fury over security forces’ alleged atrocities in the guise of flushing out Maoists in Lalgarh region of west Medinipur district.

Protestors under the banner of Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP), a tribal organisation, alleged that the security personnel had committed grave atrocities by targeting innocent villagers, the tribal community, in particular, during their combing operation in search of Maoist rebels.

To vent their ire against this, the supporters of JDP blocked the traffic on the road leading to the steel city of Durgapur and onward to New Delhi for over two hours. They were demanding suspension of the mopping up operation by the uniformed personnel.

“We are demanding to stop the atrocities on the innocent tribals in the name of curbing Maoists in Lalgarh,” said Laxmikanta Hansda, a tribal leader of Jharkhand Disom Party.

Police and Paramilitary forces began their final assault on a Maoist stronghold, Katapahari region of Paschimi (west) Medinipur district in West Bengal on Monday (June 29).

According to local reports, the state and central security forces in their joint operation have surrounded the Maoist bastion at Katrapahari, 6 kilometres from the epicentre Lalgarh. They were in the process of beginning of a two-pronged assault from the north and south to flush out the rebels.

On June 20, Police had regained control of Lalgarh, which was earlier captured by the Maoist rebels in one of the most brazen attacks in recent years that sparked unease among investors in the communist-ruled state.

Since then the Maoists have eluded the security forces, which are now aggressively looking for them.

Earlier this week, the Government at the Centre banned and formally labelled the Maoist insurgents “a terrorist group”, hoping it would give security forces more enforcement powers after the rebels briefly created a ‘liberated zone’ in West Bengal. (ANI)

Akal Takht asks SGPC to reshape Golden temple’s replica in Sangrur

Amritsar, June 21 (ANI): Taking objection to the design of a Gurdwara being constructed as the Golden Temple’s replica at Malerkotla in Sangrur district of Punjab, Akal Takht, the high temporal seat of the Sikhs, has directed Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the premier body of Sikhs, to ensure necessary modifications.

The construction of the controversial gurudwara at Malerkotla has upset devotees as well as the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex body managing Sikh shrines.

On Saturday, the Jathedar of Akal Takht along with other four Jathedars decided that the replica of the Golden Temple should be reshaped with modifications which should include filling the gurdwara’s Sarovar with earth, demolishing four domes made in four corners of gurdwara, and changing gurdwara’s name.

The decision was taken during a meeting of various Sikh religious bodies. The meet was intended to reach a unanimous decision to prevent a Gurudwara Management body to make replica of Sikhs most revered shrine Golden Temple.

However, the roots of the controversy go back 40 years ago. A shrine, owned by Mastuana Dera, a Sikh sect headed by Sant Sadhu Singh, had been under construction since 1967. However, the construction work was stopped twice after the intervention of the SGPC and Akal Takht earlier. But recent attempts to restart that work on the incomplete shrine have invited fury and objections.

On Saturday, Gurbachan Singh, the Jathedar of Akal Takht in a news conference told media that the management committee of the Mastuana Dera appeared before the Akal Takht and submitted its written apology. But no one should be allowed to build the replica of the Golden Temple and anyone involved in such an act should be punished.

Singh said that the Akal Takht had ordered SGPC to reshape the building and SGPC should take over the construction work and no one else would be allowed to construct any thing at the controversial building.

Akal Takht in its direction to SGPC has stated that while reshaping the building of the said Gurudwara all the dooms should be demolished. There should be a single doom constructed as it appears on many gurdwaras. The name of the Gurudwara should be “Singh Sabha Mastuana”.

Jathedar also said that the constructed “Har ki Pauri” and the bridge should also be also pulled down and a new varanda should be constructed around the building.

He said Baba Baldev Singh Suharaewala, who dared to hurt religious sentiments of Sikhs, would be summoned at Akal Takht to submit his clarification.

SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar has said that SGPC would go abide by the order given by the Akal Takht, the high temporal seat of Sikhs. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)

Fury over promotion of ‘dungeon dad’ Fritzl’s book as Father’s Day gift

London, June 19 (ANI): WH Smith, the British newspaper, books and stationery retailer, has come under fire for promoting a book on Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl as a Father’s Day gift.

The Crimes of Josef Fritzl, written by journalists Stefanie Marsh and Bojan Pancevski, details how the 74-year-old kept daughter Elisabeth captive for 24 years in a rat-infested cellar at Amstetten, Austria.

Fritzl, now serving life, raped her constantly and she had seven children by him.

Shocked shoppers could not believe when they saw the tome on a “Top 50 Books for Dad” display which also proclaimed “Dads Are Heroes”, reports The Sun.

Matt James, who was searching for a gift at the WH Smith branch in South London, said: “Are they mad? He’s probably the worst dad in the world. What he did to his children was horrible.”

The book promoted alongside more traditional gifts written by the likes of Dan Brown and Jeremy Clarkson.

Dad Ian Bennett, 44, said: “I’d wonder what they were trying to tell me. What person in their right mind would want to be reminded of that monster on Father’s Day?”

Rowena Langlois, 50, said: “It seems like some kind of sick joke. Has anyone in the company actually sat down and thought about this?”

WH Smith called the blunder “a mistake by one store”.

A spokeswoman said: “Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is not national policy. We will rectify this immediately.” (ANI)

Hate cleric Bakri on strict diet to breed more ‘jihadi’ recruits

London, May 24 (ANI): Infamous Islamic hate cleric Mullah Omar Bakri Mohammed has been following a strict diet so that he can breed more ‘jihadi’ recruits.

The 50 year old cleric shunned his former wife, and married Lebanese beauty Ruba almost half of his age, and is now planning to start another family with her.

“Inshallah (God willing), I will have more children. My wife is still young and we would like to start a family together,” The Daily Star quoted Mohammad, as saying.

One of Mohammad’s friend said: “His dream is to produce more children, all committed to following his jihadi cause.”

In his bid to improve his chances of becoming a dad again for the seventh time, Mohammad, with his control eating habits, has slimmed down from 20st to 13st.

He has now moved into his new apartment in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli with 26 year old Ruba and his 10 year old son, and is planning a ‘summer of loving’ with his second wife.

Mohammad ignited fury when he was in Britain by praising 9/11 perpetrators.

The Lebanese-born cleric, also blamed the British Government and the public for the 7/7 serial blasts in London in which 52 people were killed. (ANI)

Berlusconi blasts press for breaching divorce implicated teen’s privacy

London, May 21 (ANI): Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has blasted the country’s press, accusing it of “disgraceful behaviour” for revealing that Noemi Letizia, the 18-year-old accused of being at the heart of his divorce, owns four properties in Naples.

Public land registry showed that the Letizia family flat in the Naples suburb of Portici had been in the name of Letizia since 2003, Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy’s main financial paper, said.

According to the paper, two other Naples flats were also in her name, one since 1995 and the other since 2005, as was a small family shop in the suburb of Secondigliano since 2002, reports The Times.

The paper noted that none of the properties was luxurious and that Letizia’s parents, Benedetto Letizia and Anna Palumbo, had reserved the right to live in and use all of them.

Visiting L’Aquila, the centre of the earthquake zone in Abruzzo, where the G8 summit is to be held in July, Berlusconi erupted in fury, saying: “The girl has been targeted by the newspapers in an unacceptable way.”

Publishing her property holdings was “disgraceful and shameful”, he added.

“What do private matters have to do with this? By what right do you occupy yourselves with them? I’ve been to I don’t know how many weddings, celebrations and anniversaries, I have nothing to hide. By what right do you persecute a respectable family?” he said. (ANI)

US, Taliban engaged in public relations one upmanship, says CSM report

Washington, May 14 (ANI): The US administration is using another medium to hit back at the Taliban – public relations.

According to a Christian Science Monitor (CSM) report, more than a week has passed since a United States bombardment killed civilians in western Afghanistan, but the battle between coalition forces and the Taliban has only intensified on another front: public relations.

Civilian deaths caused by US, NATO, and Afghan operations – which, according to the United Nations, topped 800 last year – have long provoked public fury that the Taliban can exploit. But in response, the US has also begun to control the message, often by providing a counter-narrative or admitting responsibility.

Last Monday’s controversial airstrike in Farah Province killed some 140 villagers, according to Afghan officials. If correct, that would constitute the largest case of civilian deaths since 2001. The attack provoked outbursts of street violence and chants of anti-American slogans.

But the US countered that a “number” of people had died in the engagement – and it blamed the Taliban for using people as human shields.

The controversy then worsened when it emerged over the weekend that chemical weapons may have been used in the clash. The US military rejected that claim and went on the offensive Monday, when Col. Greg Julian, the top spokesman in Afghanistan, alleged that Taliban militants have employed white phosphorus – a highly flammable material that causes severe burns – at least four times in Afghanistan over the past two years.

Just hours later, another spokesperson highlighted 44 documented cases where militants in Afghanistan may have used the chemical in mortar attacks and homemade bombs, most recently in an attack last Thursday on a NATO outpost in Logar Province just south of Kabul.

One component of this strategy, according to British defense analyst Tim Foxley, is “to challenge the Taliban to explain their actions and intent,” while promoting a grassroots discussion of “the Taliban’s legitimacy, their interpretation of Islam, what constitutes a jihad, and the morality of killing civilians.”

The Pentagon has reportedly launched a broad “psychological operations” campaign in Afghanistan and Pakistan to take down insurgent-run websites and the jam radio stations dominate the airwaves in backcountry areas.

The Army is also rewriting its information operations manual. The new document, set to be released later this year, will give greater authority to battlefield commanders to make communications decisions on the spot – rather than senior officers far from the action – to counter Taliban attempts to stage deaths and then circulate fabricated videos.

The coalition forces have a weekly call-in radio program, “Ask ISAF,” where Afghans can directly present their questions and concerns to officers.

The Afghan government, meanwhile, has opened a 1.2 million dollar media center staffed by Western-trained PR specialists. The facility includes a hi-tech media monitoring wing and an outreach department to build better working relations with journalists. (ANI)

Manipur University executive engineer’s residence attacked by militants

Imphal, May 13 (ANI): Various social organizations in Manipur recently criticised the incident of bomb attack at the residence of an executive engineer of Manipur University.

Militants targeted residence of Shyamchandra, who is an Executive Engineer with Manipur University and advisor of Thongju Chigonglei Makhong Development Club (TCMDC) in Imphal.

The forceful debris coming out of the bomb caused injuries to Shyamchandra along with the publicity secretary of TCMDC Longjam Meghachandra.

“We had just finished our dinner and was were resting when the bomb blast occurred. There were some injuries in my body,” said Kharibam Shyamchandra, the Executive Engineer.

“We are facing lots of tension, because of such incidents. We are not able to concentrate in our studies. We are always in a fearful state. We want to appeal that such activities should not happen again,” said Engineer’s daughter in Imphal.

The incident triggered Local residence and Meira Paibis staged a sit-in protest condemning the brutal act and appealed the militants not to wage any attack in the locality considering the welfare of the people.

“Militants are continuously harassing the public and this has created fear among the people. We are suffering a lot. We cannot understand the intentions of the militants. They should come to a mutual understanding. Only then we can bring development to the state,” said Pishak, a local resident in Imphal

“We are protesting against frequent bomb and gun attacks by militants in our locality. It is our appeal that they should stop such activities which is causing great suffering among the people,” said Mema, a local resident.

Such protest in the state is a reflection of people’s fury against militant groups who have made life difficult for the people from Manipur. (ANI)

‘Madge shattered by reports of doomed adoption bid’

London, May 4 (ANI): Madonna is reportedly shattered with claims that her bid to adopt a second Malawian child is headed downhill.

The Queen of Pop had been preparing to adopt three-year-old Mercy James but her application had been rejected by a court.

The 50-year-old’s lawyer had lodged an appeal to overturn the judge’s decision and the date for the hearing was marked for May 4.

But recent reports suggesting her desperate attempt to win the custody of Mercy would be crushed again had reportedly left the singer on the brink.

“Madonna has fallen in love with Mercy and can’t bear to hear any suggestion she won’t become her mum,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

“She’s a powerful woman who’s used to getting her own way and has been clinging onto the hope she will win the appeal.

“She’s already been shattered by reports she will lose and all hell will break loose if her claim is dismissed.

“Her heart is totally set on taking Mercy home. If she doesn’t get her way, no-one wants to be in the line of fire as she vents her fury,” the source added.

Madonna had been refused custody as she was not a Malawi resident – a requirement that was waived when she adopted three-year-old David Banda from the African country in 2006. (ANI)

Lindsay trying hard to win back Samantha

New York, May 2 (ANI): Lindsay Lohan is desperately trying to woo back ex-lesbian lover Samantha Ronson. It has emerged.

The ‘Mean Girls’ star has arranged to be in London next month, at the same time as Ronson.

The 22-year-old star and the DJ were in the city together in November last year, and with the latest visit Lindsay is hoping to rekindle some old feelings.

Lohan will do a photoshoot for British Vogue and is securing a number of other club appearances at the end of May.

On the other hand, Ronson is due during the first week of June for a series of DJ gigs.

“Lindsay has booked at the same Kensington hotel they stayed in last time,” The New York Daily News quoted a source as telling Britain’s Daily Mail.

And Lohan is hoping to have “established” herself by the time Ronson shows up.

The source said: “Lindsay has been quite crafty and has arranged it so she comes to London a few days before Sam and establishes herself as a force here.

“Sam has no idea she is coming to London and is booked to do club appearances, although some of Lindsay’s friends have told her it might backfire and Sam might cancel in fury.

“But Lindsay has gone to a lot of trouble to get the shoot and the club appearances arranged, and she’s only doing it to try and win Sam back.” (ANI)

Lindsay Lohan cries foul at split from Samantha Ronson on Twitter

New York, Apr 7 (ANI): Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has apparently been left devastated by her split from lesbian lover DJ Samantha Ronson, for she has written disdainful remarks about the latter on her Twitter page.
“Being cheated on does wonders for you,” the New York Daily News quoted Lohan as stating on her Twitter page.

Lohan’s fury was unleashed after she was reportedly barred from one of Ronson’s private parties, as a locksmith was spotted changing the front door bolts at the venue, and she was allegedly stopped by five bodyguards when she tried to gatecrash the party.

“Look, i’m doing this publicly because u and ur friends call[ed] people mag … so – you win, you broke my heart. now go away. i loved you,” Lohan added.

On the other hand, Ronson has not retaliated through her blog and, according to sources, is firm on her decision.

“This time, Sam means it,” the source said. (ANI)

Centre has no role in invoking NSA against Varun: PC

NEW DELHI: Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday dismissed as “silly” BJP’s charge of Centre behind the detention of Varun Gandhi under the
National Security Act but steered clear of queries whether the action of Mayawati government was proper.

He also had a dig at senior BJP leader L K Advani for comparing Varun’s arrest with that of Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying “decibel level is high during election and it is just sound and fury signifying nothing.”

“This is a silly accusation,” he said when asked at the AICC briefing whether the UPA government had a role in the detention of the young BJP leader as alleged by the saffron party.

“The problem is that by remaining out of power for five years, the BJP has forgotten the law. What can the central government do? The order was given by the state government,” he said, adding that these accusations fall flat.

Refusing to comment on whether invoking NSA was right or wrong in the case, Chidambaram said, “I have a view but cannot express it since representation is likely to come to me. I will deal with it on merit. There is a conflict of interest whether it is right or wrong. It was a quasi judicial matter as the matter is pending in the Supreme Court”.

Prince Harry parties with ex girlfriend’s ‘rival’

London, April 5, (ANI): Prince Harry was spotted clubbing with Natalie Pinkham who once left his former girlfriend Chelsy Davy raging after she had a secret smooch with the then committed royal three years ago.

Harry, who split with his ex Davy in January, was recently seen on a night out with the Dancing on Ice star until 3.30am before heading to a friend’s pad in Mayfair with a group.

The 24-year-old was said to have taken care not to be snapped with the 30-year-old by leaving the apartment separately an hour later.

According to a right Royal carry-on, the third in line to the throne had arrived to pick up the beauty from a London address with two Scotland Yard bodyguards.

But a group of snappers allegedly led Natalie to opt for a cab instead.

“There were a lot of phone calls and the pair of them were laughing. They are clearly great mates and saw the funny side,” News of the World quoted an onlooker as saying.

Harry reportedly faced Chelsy’s dump over his playboy antics and was said to have been at the centre of her fury when he was snapped grabbing Natalie’s breasts in a bar in 2006. (ANI)

Sacked Lankan origin postman says he has no regrets over his ‘English-only’ stand

London, Mar. 27 (ANI): A Sri Lankan-origin postmaster, who refused to serve non-English speaking customers and was sacked, has said he has no regret over the stand he took.

Bosses of Deva Kumarasiri, 40, told him that his “services were no longer needed”.

The decision has sparked fury among Deva’s supporters. Deva declares: “I believe what I did was right. I don’t regret it.”

Deva had asked his employment agency for a transfer following threats from local Muslims. He was moved to the city’s predominantly white Netherfield area, and fours days later he was given the boot.

“The agency gave no reason, but it’s safe to say my stand has cost me my livelihood. I’ve a wife, two daughters and a mortgage to support. Because I’ve no contract, I was effectively self-employed, so have no rights,” he said.

Deva, who came to the UK 18 years ago, added: “Anyone who doesn’t make an effort to learn English doesn’t want to integrate. If people come to live in this country they should fully embrace British culture.”

Now, he has had thousands of messages of support to his website, www.britishnessforever.co.uk

“I must have struck a chord with the nation. The vast, vast majority of people agree with my stance,” he said.

His employers, Bradford-based Newrose Personnel Ltd, declined to comment. So did Royal Mail.

But Derek Clark, UKIP Euro MP for the East Midlands, said: “It’s a disgrace. He hasn’t misbehaved, or been short-changing customers. He was simply trying to help these people fit in. I’m very angry for him.”

Deva, who flies the Union Flag at his house and drives a British-built Land Rover, now hopes to buy his own post office

“I would still refuse to serve non-English speaking customers. I’m passionate about Britain,” he said. (ANI)

Procession sparks communal violence in Maharashtra

Nanded (Maharashtra), Mar 14 (ANI): A religious procession turned violent when two communities clashed with each other in Nanded in Maharashtra on Friday.

Violence broke out when members of a community taking out a procession of a deity and chanting religious hymns and songs reached a mosque. They were suddenly caught in a flurry of stones pelted by a mob of another community from inside the mosque.

Soon the situation turned out of hand when both the community members started pelting stones each other. It spilled over to roads. Indulging in arson, the agitated members of both communities vented their fury on vehicles and shops in the area.

Police had to resort to baton charging and tear gassing to disperse the agitated mob and arrested around 30 people in connection with the incident.

“The incident took place within 100 meters from the police station. There was violence and stone pelting between people.

Although no cars were burnt but the people tried to set two motorcycles to fire.

Politicians, kin express outrage over abuse of returning UK soldiers

London, Mar 12 (ANI): Political leaders and relatives of dead and surviving soldiers, have expressed their outrage over the insults hurled at soldiers returning from Iraq, and have urged the British Government to crack down on the banned outfit al Muhajiroun.

British soldiers recently faced a barrage of abuses from Muslim fundamentalists at a home-coming parade in Luton.

The horrific incident, in which the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment was denounced as “Criminals, Murderers, Terrorists” and “Baby Killers”, has sparked fury across the political and religious spectrum.

A small group of demonstrators in Luton are believed to have links with the al-Muhajiroun, a Muslim extremist organization.

The Telegraph quoted Patrick Mercer, former Tory Homeland Security spokesman and MP as saying that the law must be “upheld” to ensure that banned groups are targeted.

“If an organisation is proscribed then the government must stop it from operating publicly particularly in such an inflammatory and dangerous way,” he said.

Al-Muhajiroun is a defunct Muslim organisation whose two offshoots, the Saviour Sect and Al-Ghurabaa are banned under the British Terrorism Act 2006, for the ‘glorification’ of terrorism’.

Several members of al-Muhajiroun have been jailed for criminal offences including the plot to blow up the Bluewater shopping centre and Ministry of Sound and for incitement to murder after the Danish Embassy protests over the Mohammed cartoons. (ANI)
