Ameesha Patel finds anti-hero role tough

Mumbai, June 14 : Ameesha Patel turns into a baddie for her forthcoming film “Shortcut Romeo” and asserts it was challenging for her to play an anti-hero role as it has drained her emotionally and physically.

“Anti-hero role is always challenging. Like Shah Rukh Khan’s role in ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Darr’. Whenever you break a norm to do something, it is always challenging,” Ameesha said here Thursday in an interview.

“To not do a typical heroine, to look sophisticated rich woman and beautiful despite being in a negative role is a tough job because you might cross the line and look like a vamp.

“So, it was a physically and emotionally tiring film for me to do because of the dangerous dialogues, looks, manipulative eyes – all this I haven’t done before,” added the 38-year-old.

Meanwhile, lead actor of the film Neil Nitin Mukesh states that “Shortcut Romeo” might be a remake of director Susi Ganeshan’s Tamil film “Thiruttu Payale”, but it is “a very different film – be it the scale or characterisation”.

“Only some aspects of the original story have been used by Susi, but there are very unique things in this one. I believe ‘Shortcut Romeo’ is a fresh film,” added the actor.

“Shortcut Romeo” also stars Puja Gupta and hits theatres June 21.(IANS)

Bollywood veterans set to weave magic with their film

New Delhi, Aug 24(ANI): Two of the most popular Bollywood actors of their time, Amol Palekar and Sharmila Tagore, are all set to fascinate hearts with their forthcoming film.

‘Samaantar’ a Marathi film, will see veterans Amol Palekar and Sharmila Tagore teaming up after a gap of 30 years in an intense story, which is a tale of two parallel lives crossing each other in the twilight of life.

Palekar believes that the film will transcend the language barrier and will go down well with the audience.

“Any film, any good film has it’s roots in the language, in the soil, in the culture, everything. And yet, it transcends, it goes beyond. And that’s what I think, I have my full faith about ‘Samaantar’ also,” said Palekar.

The film revolves around businessman Keshav Vaze, played by Amol Palekar who decides to find serenity from his extremely busy schedule on his 60th birthday.

A casual glimpse of Shama, his love interest, played by Tagore jolts him, and how the relationship progresses when they find each other after a gap of 30 years, forms the storyline.

Describing her character as challenging, Sharmila Tagore said: It’s a very quiet, reclusive character and the character grows on you. I mean I will make a mess of it if I try and tell you about the character, I think I can act it better than I can say it. So, you have to see it.”

“Well, it’s very quiet, very confident and a very introspective person, not very outwardly demonstrative person. It had its challenges. Its mostly in the expressions and the eyes,” she added.

‘Samaantar’ is set to release on September 4. (ANI)

Hema Malini disappointed over SC decision against Sanjay Dutt

Ranchi, Apr. 1 (ANI): Actor-turned politician Hema Malini has expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court decision, which denied Sanjay Dutt the permission to contest in Lok Sabha elections.

“It was very disappointing. Sanjay is a great human being just like his father. But his past record came in the way due to which the Supreme Court denied him permission to contest in the polls. If he would have contested the elections from Lucknow, then he would have definitely won,” BJP MP Malini told media in Ranchi.

On Tuesday, Supreme Court had issued a directive that Sanjay Dutt, convicted for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, cannot contest in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

BJP’s star campaigner termed Varun Gandhi as ‘inexperienced leader’.

“The way Varun Gandhi made the statement was not good. Whatever he wanted to say he could not do that in a proper manner. I feel that he wanted to say something but due to lack of experience, he couldn’t convey his message in the right manner,” Malini said.

She also said that SP leader Amar Singh seems more interested in movies than politics.

“It seems Amar Singh wants to become an actor more than a politician. If I make a movie then I will assign him a role and I am sure he will agree to it. There are many big leaders who will work in my movies,” Malini said.

Singh, 53, reportedly has bagged a role as Union Home Minister in Dev Anand’s forthcoming film ‘Charge Sheet’. (ANI)
