Wayne Rooney loves to hear a buzz while sleeping!

London, May 20 (ANI): Wayne Rooney’s obsession with hearing a buzz in the background as he sleeps extends much beyond the hairdryer – the Man U footie sleeps on the floor of planes when he flies to feel the jet engines’ vibration.

“If I”m staying in a hotel or I”m sleeping on my own I have the hairdryer on,” the Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.

He added: “When I”m with COLEEN I have the fan on. I don”t know what it is, but the noise just helps me sleep.

“If we”re on long-haul flights I”ve been known to sleep on the floor so I hear the engine, and on occasions when the manager has walked past he”s asked, ”What are you doing?”” (ANI)

Robbie Williams, Russell Brand feature on footie anthem 3 Lions

London, May 14 (ANI): The traditional football anthem ‘ 3 Lions’ is undergoing a revamp and Robbie Williams and Russell Brand have been unveiled as stars of the team for a reboot of the anthem.

The duo have joined the song”s original team of Baddiel, Skinner and the Lightning Seeds – plus a choir and soprano – to recreate the song for a third time. They will be joined by commentator John Motson.

The original anthem is undergoing a change, as there’s no official track for the upcoming World Cup finals in South Africa.

Producer Trevor Horn masterminded the new version and recorded a full orchestra plus singers from the Official England Supporters Club at Abbey Road Studios.

Instead of the crowd noises of old – and the terrace chant of “It”s coming home” – at the start, the song now begins with a classical approach led by soprano Olivia Safe.

“I”ve always been approached to write football songs but have always declined as I thought 3 Lions could never be beaten – so I am really happy to be part of this record.

“I am counting down the days until the start of the World Cup,” The Daily Express quoted Williams as saying. (ANI)

The bird after learning to speak his son, Kai’s name, however, won’t stop squawking words left, right and centre.

“It was funny at first but now it just won’t shut up,” The Daily Star quoted the footie as speaking with Match Of The Day magazine. (ANI)

Gerrard passionate about American TV show Glee

London, Apr 30 (ANI): Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has become a fan of the TV show “This side of Pineapple Dance Studios – Glee”. And his first exposure to the song and dance spectacular came courtesy his wife

The American series, which is broadcast on Channel 4, follows the ups and down of a High School Glee club, a choir that specialises in singing popular songs rather than classical works.

Alex Curran insisted her husband watch it with her when it was first aired and now he can’t get enough of it.

“Stevie has developed quite a passion for Glee. Alex loves it and made Steven watch it with her. At first he was always moaning about it as it wasn’t his kind of show.

“If he had his way he would have the footie on 24/7. But after a bit of perseverance from the missus now Stevie doesn’t miss an episode,” The Sun quoted a friend of the England ace, as saying.

“He can’t get enough of it. It’s all a bit cheesy but Stevie finds it funny, he has a good laugh about it. Even when he misses the show Alex always has it on Sky Plus so Stevie can catch up,” the friend revealed.

Such dedication is also a tactical masterstroke from the midfielder. “It has scored him major bonus points with the wife, so when he fancies watching a bit of Sky Sports Alex doesn’t mind,” the friend said. (ANI)

Andrey Arshavin launches his own agony uncle advice column!

London, March 19 (ANI): Russian footie Andrey Arshavin is now offering advice to people – he has unveiled a column on his website where fans can ask him about anything, from love to the reason for rain.

When replying to fan’s questions on the Ask Andrey section of his website, the Arsenal star, 28, frequently draws upon his experiences with girlfriend Julia, 24, and their kids, son Artyom, four, and daughter Alina, two.

“The Sun has listed some of the questions posted on his site with his answers:

1. WHAT do you think people need pain for?

For people not to forget that they are mere mortals. Some people say that suffering purifies the soul.

2. Sometimes I feel so down. What shall I do?

Try to overcome this situation. Think that after this bad streak there”s definitely going to be a good one. Despondency is a sin.

3. I am 25 and still not married. My parents are upset about this. They say I may end up a spinster. But I don”t want to get married yet – what should I do?

Step one: You need to find a scruffy, heavy drinker. Step two: Persuade him to marry you. I think for a small amount of money he will agree to fulfil the role of your fiancé. Finally, take this guy home. Tell your parents he will live with you. Next time they will think before forcing their opinion on you.

4. Some people say the rain comes when angels cry. What do you think?

I do not think it”s angels” tears. It”s simply a natural phenomenon. Although it sounds more romantic the way you put it.

5. What does love mean?

You have touched on a very delicate subject. I guess for every person it”s something different, something very personal. For me, the perception of love is on an emotional level, rather than in words.

6. Can laughter prolong life?

We have a lot of fun during training at Arsenal. As for prolonging life? Scientists claim it does. If they claim this, probably they are right.” (ANI)

Wayne Bridge’s new T shirt slogan: “F**K JT & V”

London, March 10 (ANI): Wayne Bridge displayed his bitterness about ex-England teammate John Terry’s sexcapades with his former flame Vanessa Perroncel by emblazoning his feelings on a T-shirt.

The footie and his Manchester City mates, including Micah Richards, 21, and Shaun Wright-Phillips, 28, got special Team Bridge shirts printed on their kids’ trip to Miami.

And plastered across the back were 29-year-old Bridge’s true feelings about Terry’s romps with Perroncel, 33, his child’s mum.

The slogan written in bold read: “F**K JT & V”.

Bridge and his pals gave out several of these printed shirts to snappers on their booze ’n’ babes vacation in the US sunshine state.

“Wayne’s not reacted at all, except to snub Terry’s handshake,” the Daily Star quoted a pal, as saying.

“His way of dealing with the whole affair is with a bit of humour,” the source added. (ANI)

Worst Brit footie team ends 90-match losing streak with victory!

London, Sept 16 (ANI): Harraby Athletic, the worst football team in Britain, has finally tasted victory – after a losing streak of 90 matches.

The side has been on a losing spree since three years and was badly mauled in a 19-0 match in 2006.

The team concedes 10 goals a game on an average and their goalie has seen the ball netted over 400 times in less than three seasons.

The under-14 squad celebrated their first win after beating Edenvale Hawks 3-2 at their home ground, Hammond’s Park.

Sky News quoted coach Brett Preston as saying: “Pure determination has got us there and their faces after the game meant everything.

“All week I’ve had other managers phoning me up to congratulate us on our achievement.

“When we lost our first game 19-0, it could have even been a higher score as the opposing manager tried to help us by swapping players around and telling them to ease off.

“They just couldn’t help scoring against us. Gradually over time, the scores have come down, but we’re always bottom of the table and we’ve never even won a friendly match.”

Harraby has only one point in the Longhorn Youth Football League after the opponents did not play the game.

It consists of players who are either playing for the first time or have been rejected by other teams.he coach said: “They know that if they leave, they might not get the chance of a game as they might not get into another team.”

However, Preston also praised the determination of his boys.

He said: “The boys have been prepared to stick at it and been willing to learn. They turn up for training in all weathers and really deserve a win at last.” (ANI)

Ecstatic England footie fans empty pubs after crushing victory over Croatia

London, Sep 10 (ANI): England crushed Croatia 5-1 and stormed into next year’s World Cup finals, leading to wild celebrations among fans and supporters of the team.

The team qualified after making it eight wins out of eight in Group Six at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Two goals each from Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard and one from Wayne Rooney avenged their heartbreaking 3-2 defeat by Croatia on a rainy night at Wembley 22 months ago, a result that cost them a place at Euro 2008.

Arsenal striker Eduardo scored a late consolation goal for Croatia.

Elated England fans celebrated at Wembley and in pubs across the land as John Terry’s team qualified for the finals with two games to spare, the first time they have ever achieved that feat.

Supporters waved flags as they filed out of Wembley. Many packed nearby pubs to begin celebrations into the night.

Supporters sang: “5-1, even Croatia scored”-a new version of the mickey-taking chant, “5-1, even Heskey scored”. God Save The Queen also echoed around the North London stadium as the seconds ticked to the final whistle, The Sun reports.

Bookies Ladbrokes immediately installed England as 6-1 third favourites to win the World Cup, behind only Brazil and Spain.

Delighted Capello rated last night’s performance as England’s best under his management.

“I’m happy because the performance was great. We played quick, fast, the movement on the ball, the movement off the ball. The first 20 minutes were fantastic,” he said.

England’s Group 6 victory finally erased the humiliating memory of the home defeat by Croatia in 2007, which cost the Three Lions a place in Euro 2008. (ANI)

For Brit men “sex o’clock” is governed by footie fixtures!

London, Sept 5 (ANI): Feeling romantic? Well, then gear up for some kinky action – but wait till 10.16pm tonight, for that’s the time when half of UK’s population gets turned on with their lovers.

After asking 5,000 adults, cynical researchers have claimed that the romantic schedule means men can catch up with their football highlights on Match Of The Day at 10.30pm.

The second most popular time for sex is 9pm on Friday, followed by 9.30am on Sunday, reports The Daily Express.

A spokesman for pollsters www.OnePoll.com said: “One might conclude from this survey that romance is dead.

“It certainly seems that sex has become a matter of convenience for many people.

“When couples get past the honeymoon stage in their relationship they seem to settle down a bit, and sex isn’t as important any more.”

The survey shows a quarter of couples go longer than two months between romps. (ANI)

“I’ll wait until I have the first before we decide.”

She told OK! magazine: “At the end you just get a bit fed up and because you’re getting bigger you can’t wait to meet the baby.” (ANI)

A main artery was severed in the attack, allegedly carried out by his pregnant sister’s boyfriend Worrell Whitehurst.

Calum’s family, who are keeping a bedside vigil at Bedford Hospital, were said to be “over the moon”.

Calum’s mum Kim, 50, who was also injured in the attack, has been discharged from the same hospital.

Ronaldo faces police inquiry for kicking in teen girl’s car window

London, Jul 2 (ANI): Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a police probe after he lashed out and kicked in a teenage girl’s car window.

Ronaldo, 24, claims that he was protecting his mom when he kicked the car window that terrified 17-year-old Sara Pardal, who was filming his family heading to an Elton John concert, was sitting in.

The winger faces an inquiry for allegedly wounding and destroying property after Pardal, treated in hospital for cuts, complained to police in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

“I regret what I did, but I can’t promise that I would not react in the same way again in the same circumstances,” the Daily Star quoted the defiant footie as saying.

“Because when my mother is involved it is very difficult for me to keep a calm state of mind,” he said.

Ronaldo, his mum Dolores, 54, his two sisters and pals were about to head to the gig when he spotted Pardal, believed to have been with a freelance photographer.

He leapt from his 200,000 pounds red Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, and smashed the window near the cowering teen, who claimed she was a fan of his.

“I was accompanied by my mother and he by a young woman who throughout our whole journey ostensibly and provocatively filmed all our movements,” Ronaldo said.

“This persecution caused my mother to be so disturbed and upset that I had to stop my car to try to convince them to leave us in peace,” he stated.

He further claimed that the photographer tried to sell a video of the incident to the firm representing him.

“We cannot make any comment whatsoever,” a police spokesman added on July 1. (ANI)

Ronaldo may have bedded 80,000 girls, claims ex!

London, June 24 (ANI): Cristiano Ronaldo’s former girlfriend has suggested that the footballer may have bedded 80,000 girls since he dumped her.

Nereida Gallardo, who was with Ronaldo for eight months before being dumped by text, claimed the Portuguese star crazed a new girl on a weekly basis.

“Every week another girl comes along talking about him. After dumping me I don’t know how many there have been. Eighty thousand?” The Sun quoted her as saying.

The Spanish model went on to predict that the soccer ace’s latest arm candy Paris Hilton would soon share her fate.

Posing topless in Spain’s Interviu magazine, she added: “She’s just another sh*g, a fling, one of many that have passed through his bed.”

Nereida shot to prominence last summer when she was seen frolicking with the footie star in Italy. (ANI)

Danielle Lloyd says she’s no serial footie dater

London, May 20 (ANI): WAG Danielle Lloyd has said she does not deliberately hunt footballers – despite being with eight in the last three years.

The British glamour model appeared to be putting her foot down after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp dubbed models who dated players “busy cows”.

The 25-year-old, who is presently involved with three-year junior Jamie O’Hara, defended herself, saying she did not pre-plan who to fall in love with.

The beauty further offered advice to other potential WAGs, saying it was not an easy job being one.

“Some of these girls think they can go out and find a footballer and that it’s a shortcut to fame. That’s not true. It can be really hard. Your boyfriend has to go away for a long time,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

“I get so many girls who come up to me and say: ‘I just want to be you and I want to go out with a footballer.’ I always say: ‘You should go to school and get your education and do something for yourself.’

“I was planning on going to university until I won Miss England. Believe it or not, I wanted to be a forensic scientist,” she added.

Danielle met Teddy Sheringham, 43, in 2006 but they split a year later.

She has also dated Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, 26, Liverpool’s Ryan Babel, 22, Birmingham ace Marcus Bent, 31, Arsenal full-back Armand Traore, 19, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, 22, and Spurs defender Alan Hutton, 24. (ANI)

Victoria footie club under probe for stripper’s act

Melbourne, May 18 (ANI): In the latest sex drama to engulf the sporting world, the Prahran Football Club is under investigation for hiring a stripper to perform for the team minutes before a game.

The management of the club has been ordered to appear before the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s integrity sub-committee tonight to explain the sordid stunt.

The change-room strip show has angered women’s lobby groups and is set to turn the spotlight on Aussie Rules after rugby league’s week of shame, reports the Herald Sun.

The Premier of the Australian state of Victoria, John Brumby, wants the football club at the centre of the strip shame to apologise.

“It’s just an appalling example to set young people and to set families. It’s just completely inappropriate behaviour and one of the things that we’re trying to do in Victoria is encourage young people to play sport, to take up sport and you open the paper today and you read about a football club that got a stripper in before a game, it’s absolutely, completely unacceptable and inappropriate and it sends all the wrong messages,” the paper quoted Brumby, as saying.

Prahran Club XVIII coach Craig Berger said a former player organised the stripper to perform about 30 minutes before a night match against St Bernard’s on May 1.

“One of the past players set it up to gee up some of the blokes who were struggling a bit, to stir them up a bit,” he said.

Berger said he first became aware of the stunt when the stripper came into the trainers’ room.

“The stripper came in and I heard some noise (in the change room) and she was asking for music,” Berger said.

“I walked in, and when I realised what was going on, I said, ‘What’s going on here?’ and then left the room. They (the players) were fully aware that I wasn’t happy about it. I think she was only there for a couple of minutes. Only a couple of the guys actually knew about it . . . it didn’t last long at all because they knew I wasn’t happy about it,” Berger added.

The incident happened at Elsternwick Park, the VAFA’s administrative headquarters.

VAFA chief executive Michael Sholly said representatives from the club, including Berger, would be asked to explain tonight.

Prahran could be charged with conduct unbecoming a member of the association. (ANI)

Schemer flogs innocent pics to wreck Posh and Becks’ marriage

London, May 18 (ANI): A conman is so desperate to wreck David and Victoria Beckham’s marriage that he has flogged pictures of the footie star portraying him as having an affair with a brunette interpreter.

He has spent weeks publicising innocent pictures of the 34-year-old footballer with the girl taken in Milan, Italy.

He even claims that the snaps are recent and prove that Posh and Becks are heading for a split.

However, after a few basic checks, it has been found that the photos showing Becks with the language expert were taken following a business meeting several months ago.

Unfazed by the claims, the Beckhams put on a show of unity over the weekend during a romantic weekend in London.

They stayed at the capital’s posh Claridge’s hotel and spent some precious time together.

“People are desperate to dig up dirt on the Beckhams but the simple fact is that there is none,” the Daily Star quoted a source close to the couple as saying.

The insider added: “They face their problems just like anyone else but the bottom line is they are happy.”

A spokesman for the couple refused to comment on the issue. (ANI)

Gemma Atkinson once ‘turned down tiny Maradona’

London, Apr 30 (ANI): Busty-babe Gemma Atkinson has said that she once turned down advances of Argentinian footie legend Diego Maradona.

The ex-Hollyoaks beauty revealed that she bumped into the World Cup winner at a charity football match and was showered with compliments.

But, the Gemma remained inert to Diego’s chat-up lines as because she found his height, or the lack of it, to be a put-off.

“He said I had beautiful eyes and I was like, ‘Wow thanks,’ but he’s so short, he’s tiny,” The Sun quoted Gemma as saying.

She added: “I saw him at this charity match so I went up to him and asked for a picture and an autograph. He was really nice guy but he was very short.”

The 34E stunner, spilled the beans when an American interviewer asked her who was the most famous person she had ever turned down. (ANI)
