Two Northern Territory polocrosse teams are looking at securing grand final finishes at the National Tournament in Victoria this weekend.
The under-21 mixed side have won both of their games, smashing South Australia 14-7.
The junior side is also proving their strong horsemanship after beating Victoria 18-12, and only narrowly losing against number one side New South Wales.
Coach Andrew Penley said improving the fitness and training routine in the lead up to the titles has made this year’s sides serious contenders.
“This is our probably most successful national start we’ve had for many years,” Mr Penley said.
“There is a lot of effort a lot of time put in to be able to compete at this level because you’re up against the bigger states NSW and QLD and it’s based on numbers and their horses.
“They pretty much out match us so we’re coming up as quite a credible performance.”
