Di’s wedding day tiara left her with splitting headache

London, May 18 (ANI): Princess Diana was left with a splitting headache because of the tiara she wore on the day of her wedding with Prince Charles, her brother Earl Spencer has revealed.

The Princess of Wales’ brother was just a 16-year-old schoolboy when his elder sister became a member of the royal family after marrying Charles.

But he has described how at the time he did not realise the significance of the marriage or how Diana had been transformed in the public”s eyes into an international icon.

Charles Spencer, 45, returned to the grounds of St Paul”s Cathedral for the first time since it staged his sister”s wedding on July 29, 1981, for an interview with the American show Entertainment Tonight.

The Earl described that he could spend some time with Diana after the ceremony, which was telecasted for an estimated global audience of 750 million.

””In the evening we all went to a sort of semi-private party and she was there and she seemed incredibly relaxed and happy and I just remember she had a cracking headache too, because she wasn”t used to wearing a tiara all morning,”” the Telegraph quoted the aristocrat as saying in the interview.

The tiara was a Spencer family piece and has an elaborate design of stylised flowers decorated with diamonds in silver settings.

Diana went on to wear it and others many times during her lifetime.

He said that along with his memories of the day he still has a piece of his sister”s wedding cake with her name on it.

””The first moment of the day I remember was going to see Diana as she was getting ready in her wedding dress, and before that she was just my big sister,’” he said.

””But then when I walked in that day I thought my goodness they”ve transformed her into, I have to say, a very beautiful woman. She did become that day a sort of fairytale princess. It was almost like she was handed over to the world that day,” he added.

The Earl also said: ””I remember sort of going home at the end of the day and thinking, ”Well, that”s that,” and not realising what a global phenomenon both the day had been and that Diana had become.”” (ANI)

Jacko’s ‘happy family’ pics with Debbie Rowe may swing custody battle

London, July 5 (ANI): The astonishing new pictures showing Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe affectionately hugging and cuddling their two kids Prince and baby Paris can dramatically turn around the custody battle.

The ‘happy family’ pictures could challenge the claims depicting her as the disaffectionate surrogate and rattle reports that she never even visited the children.

Former nurse Rowe was earlier reported to have said that she wants her kids back, however, her lawyer said she still hasn’t taken the final decision yet.

The photos – taken in a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills about two weeks after Paris was born in April, 1998 – capture the first moment Rowe held her daughter for the very first time.

According to the photographer, Jacko had taken the tot away from the hospital moments after Rowe gave birth.

“Debbie couldn’t wait to cradle Paris in her arms and Michael was happy to let her,” the News of the World quoted the photographer as saying.

“It wasn’t like he was giving her instructions and a list of what she could and couldn’t do. Debbie was a natural mum from the off. She was talking to the baby saying stuff like, ‘Hello Paris. I’m your mom!’

“In fact, she didn’t want to put the little thing down, holding her as she was walking around the room and sitting down with her on a sofa. She wasn’t just holding her for the photographs.

“At one point she was gently rocking Paris in her arms and humming a lullaby to her. It was a very special mother-and-baby moment. Paris was asleep in her mother’s arms and looked very contented.

“It was obvious that Debbie loved her children and there was a strong connection between them. It looked like she was treasuring every second, laughing, kissing and playing with them for about two hours.

A second similar set of photographs was taken a few weeks later when Debbie visited her children at his Neverland ranch.

“Debbie was just as happy and relaxed at the second photoshoot. People may think she was an emotionally cold and uncaring woman to be able to walk away from her children.

“But if you saw her with them you’d realise there was much more to it than that,” the photographer added. (ANI)

The trio of musts that Obamas’ pooch, Bo, needs to learn

Chicago, May 1 (ANI): Experts have come up with the trio of musts that all pooch owners, including the Obamas, need to practice with their pets, namely exercise, affection and obedience.

According to Karen Okura, manager of animal behaviour and training for the Anti-Cruelty Society, US President Barack Obama and his family need to follow a common set of rules to train the six-month old First Dog, Bo.

“The first thing to do when you have a new dog is to establish boundaries and rules on the very first moment the pet enters the home,” The Chicago Sun-Times quoted Karen as saying.

“The whole family needs to speak the same language to the dog and agree on the same set of rules”, Karen added.

Karen continued: “For the Obama family, it appears that a lot of people need to get involved. If you add the servants and Secret Service, I’d estimate about 50 people have to learn the verbal commands.”

Some more tips for new dog owners, like the First Family, from the Anti-Cruelty Society and the Web site www.dogtrainersearch.com include:

1. Making sure the right size of dog toys are given to the pets to avoid choking hazards, and the playthings need to be trashed when on becoming worn or frayed or if they begin to develop holes or sharp edges.

2. Do not let your pooch to bark for longer period of time to prevent it from becoming a habit.

3. A good behaviour needs to be rewarded which would add to its repetition.

4. Aggression towards the dog may lead to reverse-aggression situation from the pet, who would want to defend itself.

5. Let your mutt know who is the boss by showing leadership. (ANI)

Oz pacer Johnson doesn’t mind being called an all-rounder

Cape Town (South Africa), Mar.23 (ANI): When former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee famously said a decade ago that Mitchell Johnson had enormous potential as a Test cricketer, he could have meant as a batsman.

Captain Ricky Ponting certainly thinks the pace bowler can go a long way with the bat and wasn’t at all surprised to see the left-hander hit his maiden century of 123 not out in Australia’s defeat in the third Test in Cape Town on Sunday.

“You can call me an all-rounder if you like,” Johnson said casually at his post-match press conference after winning the player-of-the-series award for his 255 runs at 85.00 and 16 wickets at 25.00.

“I enjoy batting at eight,” added the 27-year-old, whose batting average in 21 matches has risen to 34.70.

Australia will play Twenty20 games against South Africa on March 27 and 29 and Ponting appeared to be serious when he told Johnson: “You’re opening in the Twenty20 games.”

Johnson responded: “I don’t mind that.”

Ponting says he has regarded Johnson as an all-rounder from the first moment he saw him bat.

“As we saw today if someone can go out and make a Test-match 100 in 80-odd balls when you’ve got your backs to the wall, a lot of games are won and series changed as a result of somebody doing something like that,” Ponting says.

“So I have known he has been capable of that and we saw in Johannesburg (96 not out) what he has been capable of as well. It’s a matter of him not being happy with what he’s done and keep working hard and make himself into that really good all-rounder that he hopes he can become,” The Age quoted Ponting, as saying.

Johnson struck 11 fours and five sixes in his 123-ball innings, reaching his hundred with a six off last year’s leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, pacer Dale Steyn. (ANI)
