Meet Prince Charles and Camilla, the ‘wedding planners’!

London, Sept 20 (ANI): Prince Charles and wife Camilla are turning wedding planners and “loaning out” their country retreat of Highgrove House to wannabe brides and grooms.

And included in the package will be the royal couple’s shared “expertise”.

Like Charles and Camilla did at their Windsor wedding four years ago, couples will be encouraged to “keep it simple”, say reports.

As per rumours, the first pair to enjoy a “Charles and Camilla wedding” are TV babe Jenni Falconer and her actor fiancĂ© James Midgley, reports The Daily Star.

A royal source said: “Obviously with it being their house they would want control of the event. But they also recognise what a great opportunity it would be to showcase their home.

“Highgrove is an absolutely fantastic building and would make a wonderful venue for a wedding and reception.”

The nine-bedroom country house on a 37-acre estate near Tetbury, Gloucestershire, was bought for Charles in 1980.

A source said: “Charles is hugely proud of Highgrove. It’s a wonderful property and he has spent thousands of pounds on the gardens and grounds. I’m sure by holding weddings there Charles would take great pleasure being the host.

“And he could use them to promote the Duchy Originals organic products he’s involved with.” (ANI)

MJ’s mother wins will ruling

London, September 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine can challenge the administrators of the singer’s estate without any threat to her 40 per cent stake, a judge has ruled.

The 79-year-old’s legal team said that she wants to have more say over the manner in which the 400 million dollar estate is handled.

According to the ruling, the King of Pop’s mum will not breach a ‘no contest’ clause in the family trust if she sets up a challenge before the executors over Jackson’s will, reports the Sun.

Katherine is the legal guardian of the star’s children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, after his sudden death on June 25.

She will receive more than 1 million dollars a year from his estate including a sum of 26,804 dollars a month for herself apart from a monthly allowance of 60,000 dollars for the three kids, as per the court’s order. (ANI)

Robbie Williams moving Down Under?

London, Sep 16 (ANI): It seems that Robbie Williams is shifting bag and baggage to Australia, all thanks to his ladylove Ayda Field.

The singer has revealed that he is searching for a farm or beachfront retreat Down Under because of his girlfriend.

Robbie divulged the details in an interview on Australia’s biggest breakfast radio show on station 2DayFM, which is being guest-hosted by Dannii Minogue.

The ‘Feel’ singer-who is making a storming comeback with new single ‘Bodies’, out on October 12-even quizzed the Aussie beauty about dealing with jetlag.

“Ayda told me she had kind of a psychic feeling she’d end up in Australia,” The Sun quoted Rob as saying.

“I’m thinking of coming down there. I have been looking for places out in the outback, maybe a farm,” he added.

Robbie has recently moved back to Blighty, and the dodgy climate is already forcing him into Aussie estate agencies. (ANI)

MJ’s sister set to lose Las Vegas home

London, September 12 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s sister La Toya is reportedly set to lose her home in Las Vegas over unpaid bills.

The singer purportedly owes 497,113 pounds in unpaid mortgage instalments on the posh estate at the LV International Country Club.

According to TMZ.com, the 53-year-old’s property will allegedly be placed under the hammer later in September if the outstanding tabs are not cleared, reports the Daily Star.

But the grieving star was said to be less concerned about losing the property.

“The property was also something she got during her divorce from Jack Gordon and she has no attachment to it.” (ANI)

MJ set to become world’s top earning celebrity

London, September 7 (ANI): Michael Jackson has been predicted to become the world’s top earning celebrity next year.

The late King of Pop’s estate is expected to amass up to 150 million pounds from beyond the grave, thanks to merchandising contracts, album sales, and other royalties.

The top 1,000 licensing and merchandising experts across Europe, participating in the Brand Licensing trade event in London, made the predictions.

“Michael Jackson’s image and legacy is licensed on anything from coins and clothes, to coffee table books and singing, stuffed animals,” the Daily Express quoted Ciaran Coyle, The Beanstalk Group chief, as saying.

Other high profilers to feature among the top 20 stars, dead or alive, include Elvis Presley, Heath Ledger and Jade Goody. (ANI)

US Fritzl linked to prostitute serial killings

London, Aug 31 (ANI): Police suspect that ‘American Fritzl’ Phillip Garrido terrified Jaycee Lee Dugard by taking her to sites where he may have killed 10 prostitutes.

Garrido kept Jaycee as his sex slave for 18 years and fathered two children with her.

It is believed that his horror tour for the three was meant to make them too scared to flee him, reports the Daily Star.

And it left the mother and her two daughters suffering from Stockholm Syndrome where hostages grow emotionally attached to their kidnappers.

Detectives suspect that convicted rapist Garrido, 58, could be one of America’s worst mass murderers.

It is being said that Garrido may be responsible for unsolved killings dating back to 1998.

The bodies of 15-year-old school- girl Lisa Norrell and three strangled and stabbed hookers were dumped on an industrial estate in the nearby town of Pittsburg where he worked at the time.

Call girls Valerie Schultz, 27, Rachael Cruise, 32, and Jessica Frederick, 24, were mutilated and left in ditches.

Seven other prostitutes also went missing but their bodies have never been found.

And police now know that Garrido took Jaycee and her daughters – named as Starlite and Angel – to the same town just a few weeks ago. (ANI)

MIC urges Universiti Malaya to maintain its Indian Studies dept’s name

Kuala Lumpur, Aug. 29 (ANI): Malaysian Indian Congress chief S. Samy Vellu has urged Universiti Malaya’s vice-chancellor Ghauth Jasmon not to change the name of university’s Indian Studies Department.

“He has to listen to the views of the Indian community. Tamil is our life,” he said when asked to comment on Ghauth’s statement over renaming the department to Indian and South Asian Studies department.
Ghauth had reportedly said that although the name of the department would be changed, its programmes would be maintained.
“We will not accept any changes to the Indian Studies Department because it was the Indians who contributed to the department’s existence and it is also our pride,” the New Strait Times quoted Samy Vellu, as saying.
He said he was informed by Human Resources Minister Dr. S. Subramaniam that the cabinet has agreed to maintain the during a recent Cabinet meeting.
“It has been agreed by the Cabinet. So, there must not be any change in the name,” Samy Vellu said.
He noted that the ISD was created from money collected from Indian estate workers in the early 1950s under the “Save Tamil Fund.”
“The department has many historical values for the Indian community. Changing its name would mean showing disrespect to the Indian community,” he added. (ANI)

Holidaying Obama sets himself grueling reading schedule of 2,300 pages

Martha’s Vineyard (Virginia, US), Aug. 26 (ANI): US President Barack Obama has kicked off his vacation by revealing that, in addition to endless games of tennis and golf, he plans to read five books or an astonishing 2,300 pages.

His summer reading list, unveiled by a White House apparently keen to emphasise Obama’s highbrow credentials, contains two heavyweight works of non-fiction and three novels, The Independent reports.

On top of the pile stacked on Barack and Michelle’s bedside table at the 28-acre estate they have rented for 35,000 dollars is “Hot, Flat and Crowded”, the climate change polemic by New York Times columnist, Thomas Friedman. Subtitled “why we need a green revolution”, it makes a leftish call to arms regarding the future of the planet.

Obama’s second choice is historian David McCullough’s magisterial biography of John Adams, the often underrated second US president, who was the subject of an award-winning HBO docu-drama last year.

The novels include two crime thrillers: Richard Price’s Lush Life, and The Way Home, a novel by George Pelecanos set in Washington, DC – which, much like Obama’s best-selling autobiography, explores the relationship between a father and his son.

Completing the set is the novel Plainsong, by a little-known writer called Kent Haruf. Set in a small town on the Colorado plains, its existence on the reading list may reassure voters that their metropolitan commander-in-chief has not ignored Middle America.

The books were unveiled to reporters on Monday afternoon, at an official press briefing.

President Obama has already spent a portion of his week so far playing golf, beating Michelle at tennis, and visiting friends.

To finish all five books, he would have to manage more than 300 pages every day – quite an “ask” when a small portion of his time must also be spent running the country. (ANI)

Jolie’s late mum left hefty inheritance to grandkids

Washington, Aug 25 (ANI): Angelina Jolie’s late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, has left a big chunk of her estate to her three grandchildren children, who were born before she lost her cancer battle in January 2007.

The actress passed away at the age of 56, following a lengthy fight against ovarian cancer.

And Bertrand has left her estate to her Oscar-winning daughter and son, James Haven.

As executors of the estate, Jolie and Haven put the final court papers in to a Los Angeles court earlier this month.

Bertrand had left her beloved grandchildren 100,000 dollars each, but only the ones she had met before her tragic demise.

Jolie and partner Brad Pitt’s adopted kids, Maddox and Zahara, as well as their biological daughter, Shiloh, will receive a large part of their grandmother’s will.

However, adopted Pax and twins Knox and Vivienne will not receive inheritance.

Pax was adopted two months after his grandmother’s death, while the twins were born in July 2008.

Bertrand also left money to her sister, brother, and nephews, reports Contactmusic.

Her estate’s total worth was 661,000 dollars. (ANI)

MJ had mapped out his life’s next chapter: Nephew

London, Aug 24 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s nephew Taj has said that the King of Pop had mapped out the next chapter of his life.

Tito Jackson’s son said that his uncle was looking forward to the London concerts and planning a movie career ahead.

“He had his next chapter mapped out. He wanted to do this (tour) and get on to the next chapter. The last words he said to me were, ‘We’re gong to do film after this,’” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

The former 3T singer took to the stand while testifying in the planned King of Pop memorabilia tour lawsuit, in a bid to back his grandmother Katherine’s opposition to the deal.

He also added that he was against burying the icon at Neverland Ranch as the star came to “hate” the estate following his 2005 child molestation trial.

He said: “Neverland was never an option to us. It brought so much pain to him.”

Jackson will be buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California on 3 September. (ANI)

MJ death probe: Police raid his regular Beverly Hills pharmacy

London, Aug 22 (ANI): Cops have raided a pharmacy in Beverly Hills, where Michael Jackson was a regular, searching for any evidence of “improper dispensing of controlled substances”.

Jackson is believed to have received Demerol from Mickey Fine pharmacy, reports The Sun.

Dr Arnold Klein and other doctors who attended to Jackson also used the store frequently.

Meanwhile, a court has ruled that a case against the king of pop over a family reunion will still go on.

AllGood Entertainment had filed the lawsuit worth 24 million pounds but the company will have to sue Jackson’s estate now.

The firm claims he had agreed not to do any gigs before next July’s show – and broke the deal by planning 50 concerts at London’s 02. The trial is set for October 2010.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s burial has been postponed five days so that his family can “get things in order”. (ANI)

Nude Jackie Kennedy pic found among Andy Warhol’s possessions

London, August 21 (ANI): A nude picture of former US First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis has been discovered in the pile of King of Pop Art Andy Warhol’s possessions.

The snap, which apparently shows the wife of John F. Kennedy skinny-dipping, was said to have been signed “For Andy, with enduring affection, Jackie Montauk”, a reference to the painter’s beach front estate in Montauk.

Archivists sieving through 610 cardboard boxes, filing cabinets and a shipping container belonging to Warhol, who is considered a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art, found the photograph, reports the Telegraph.

Researchers working for the Andy Warhol Foundation also found a piece of crusty wedding cake and 17,000 dollars in cash amongst other items.

Matt Wrbican, who has been going through the artist’s things since 1991, said: “He really didn’t like organisation and there would be several boxes going at a time.”

He added: “The only rooms that looked like a normal house were the bathroom and the kitchen.” (ANI)

Anna Nicole Smith’s estate calls in lawyers over nude escort pics

London, Aug 19 (ANI): The executors of Anna Nicole Smith’s estate are planning to take legal action after it emerged that an escort service in Las Vegas has been distributing flyers branded with the late star’s nude image.

The legal team in charge of Smith’s affairs got angry after they came to know that a Nevada-based company has been allegedly using a topless picture of the late star to advertise their services.

The flyer shows an image of what looks like the late model – renamed Mandy on the promo – to advertise their “25 dollars special”.

“Nobody is authorised to use Anna Nicole’s image, name or likeness without the appropriate consent from her estate. We will immediately look into this,” The Daily Star quoted Ron Rale, the lawyer for Smith’s estate, as telling TMZ.com.

And the star’s former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, who is also the father of her daughter Dannielynn, said: “This is highly inappropriate. This is going to be the most expensive trick this company has ever tried to pull. It’s definitely going to be worth more than $25 when it’s all said and done. It’s disrespectful.”

Smith died of an accidental overdose in 2007. (ANI)

George Clooney ‘declares war’ on peeping paparazzo in Italy

Washington, Aug 15 (ANI): George Clooney is planning to sue a paparazzo, who allegedly climbed the wall of his Lake Como retreat in Italy and took snaps of a topless 13-year-old girl changing in one of the star’s guest bedrooms.

The photographer also reportedly took shots of Clooney and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis enjoying private moments in the yard of his estate, reports Contactmusic.

The Hollywood hunk is also planning to take legal action against the two magazines that bought and published the pictures.

In a statement, Clooney said, “We’re suing two magazines and a photographer. I don’t know about the law in the United States but in Italy it’s illegal for photographers to climb over my wall and to take long lens pictures of a 13-year-old girl in her bedroom. I draw the line of privacy at that.” (ANI)

The deals were presented to Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff in Los Angeles by the administrators of the singer’s estate, lawyer John Branca and music executive John McClain.

Jackson’s estate and Apple’s iTunes store were given the thumbs up and could sell songs and videos of Jermaine Jackson’s performance of “Smile”, reports the BBC.

Another hearing with Judge Beckloff has been slated to request that other deals be also cleared, including a film Jackson’s final rehearsals and preparations for his comeback gigs in London.

Tripura fast emerging as a major tea exporting state

Agartala, July 11 (ANI): With its favourable agro climatic conditions, Tripura is fast emerging as a major tea exporting state in the region. The industry has evolved into a major business in the northeast.

The tea gardens here like the Manu Valley Tea Estate are in the process of modernizing production and are using the latest automatic machinery.

The tea estate has also imported Japanese machinery for plucking of tealeaves and is one of the biggest factories for tealeaf drier in Asia.

Last year, the 90-year-old tea industry in the state created history by exporting the beverage.

Despite the global economic meltdown, the tea industry in Tripura is reaping good profits in which 1 lakh Kg of tea named ‘Jewel Tips’ were exported to Iran, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan.

This generated revenue for the state and benefited the workers tremendously.

“Last year, we exported to UK, Iran, and Uzbekistan. In TATA also we have supplied more than 100,000 kilogram of tea. Now, the second phase has just started and the market is very good this year. Talk is going on with the TATA tea,” said J. C. DAS, General Manager with Tripura Group of Gardens.

“Earlier, we use the hand plucking method but now we are using machines. This has benefited us a lot as the work is completed faster and we get more money as well. We are very happy,” said Sudangshu, a Tea worker in Tripura

There are over 57 tea gardens in the Tripura, with about 6,000 hectares under plantation. Currently, the state produces about 7.5 million kilograms of tea in a year.

To give a boost to the tea industry, the Tripura Government, in collaboration with the Tea Board, is providing better irrigation facilities. Initiatives have also been taken to produce “Bio-tea”, which is free from any chemical residue.

Tea plantations have now become one of the promising industries in Tripura and are likely to witness more success in the coming years. By Pinaki Das(ANI)

MJ’s new songs not to be released anytime soon

London, July 10 (ANI): While sales of Michael Jackson’s earlier albums have boosted in the past few weeks, the new music recorded by the late King of Pop before his death is not expected to be release anytime soon, revealed president of his record label Epic.

Jackson had been working on new music for several years with hip-hop and R and B stars like Will.i.am, Ne-Yo and Akon.

“We just want to pay our respects to Michael. We don’t want to be seen to be jumping on any bandwagon associated with his death,” the BBC quoted Amanda Ghost as saying.

In an interview with BBC 6 Music, Ghost said that “the appetite is definitely there” for new material.

“If we do release anything of unreleased material, it has to be fantastic and it can’t damage in any way his legacy or his legend and I won’t let that happen at Epic.

“I have no idea when it’s coming out, but it will come out on Sony/Epic. We haven’t made any decisions because we just want to be respectful for his memory and not be seen in any way as trying to cash in,” she added.

In fact, the release of new music could also be delayed as legal negotiations over his estate continue.

Bruce Swedien, a producer and engineer who worked on ‘Off The Wall’ and ‘Thriller’, has said that he believed Jackson was working on instrumental music as well as a pop album. (ANI)
