Clooney’s return helps hospital drama ER get highest ratings ever

London, May 9 (ANI): Hollywood actor George Clooney’s return to American hospital drama ER has made the show get the highest ratings ever.

George Clooney appeared as doctor Doug Ross alongside other old faces Julianna Margulies and Eriq La Salle as the hit sitcom neared the end of its fifteenth and final series.

According to reports an average 791,000 viewers tuned in on Thursday and 84,000 caught up an hour later on More4+1.

Meanwhile the channel E4 also had a good night as The Inbetweeners pulled in almost 1million viewers. (ANI)

George Clooney’s cameo boosts ‘ER’ ratings

London, Mar 15 (ANI): The brief return of George Clooney to ‘ER’ has given the long-running medical drama its best rating in two years, as the series draws to a close.

Clooney’s comeback episode, also featuring former regulars Noah Wyle and Eriq La Salle, saw a 23 percent increase in viewers, reports the BBC.

The show, which is based on an emergency room of a fictional Chicago hospital, was the most popular show on television in 1995, averaging 32 million viewers a week.

Clooney gained fame for playing Dr. Doug Ross, firmly cementing a place amongst Hollywood heartthrobs.

He left in 1999 to pursue a full time career on the silver screen, winning an Oscar in 2005.

The show in its 15th, and final series was created by the late Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton. (ANI)

Spike Lee, Tyler Perry nominated for NAACP Image Awards

Washington, January 28 (ANI): American filmmakers Spike Lee and Tyler Perry have been nominated for the NAACP Image Awards.

They were leading the pack when the civil rights organisation announced the nominations in three directing categories on Tuesday.

Lee has been nominated for best motion picture director with Miracle of St. Anna.

Other strong contenders for the award are Perry (The Family That Preys), Darnell Martin (Cadillac Records), Gina Prince Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees) and Patrik Ian Polk (Noah’s Arc: Jumping the Broom).

Kevin Sullivan has been nominated in the TV comedy category, in recognition of his work on hit series 30 Rock.

He will go up against Ali LeRoi (Everybody Hates Chris), Ken Whittingham (Entourage), Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends) and Victor Nelli, Jr. (Ugly Betty).

Leading the TV drama shortlist is Heroes director Anthony Hemingway, reports Contactmusic.

He will battle it out with Eriq LaSalle (Law and Order: SVU), Ernest DICkerson, (Lincoln Heights), Paris Barclay (In Treatment) and Seth Mann (The Wire).

The winners will be announced on February 12, when the 40th NAACP Image Awards ceremony take place in Los Angeles. (ANI)
