Mayor says flood repair funds inadequate

A Cape York mayor in far north Queensland says a $16 million State Government grant to repair flood-damaged roads and infrastructure is not enough.

The State Government has announced the disaster relief funding for the Cook Shire Council for damage caused by cyclones Charlotte and Ellie last year.

But Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott says the grant is “old money” that the council applied for more than a year ago.

He says another $40 million is now needed for repairs after this year’s wet season.

“The wet season last year, which was a heavy one, it was an extended one. We’ve got more claims in for that as well, in excess of that $16 million. I think we’ve got claims in for more than $40 million for this current year,” he said.

Natasha Ellie the woman behind Rihanna-Chris Brown fight?

Melbourne, Mar 23 (ANI): If reports are to be believed, the woman who allegedly triggered the much-hyped fight between Rihanna and Chris Brown is supermodel Natasha Ellie, and not Tina Davis.

Brown was allegedly cheating on the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker with Natasha, and it was she who sent the text to him before the fight.

Sources say that Rihanna became ballistic after she saw the 2-page text Natasha sent to Brown.

“Rihanna has been having problems with this girl for a long time. Rihanna even reached out to Natasha, but she denied everything,” the Daily Telegraph quoted a source as saying.

Meanwhile, Brown has been charged with two felony counts, and released on a bail of 50,000 dollars until a hearing on April 6th. (ANI)

Oz couple to marry in the nude as part of radio stunt!

Melbourne, Feb 12 (ANI): A couple will be tying the knot in the nude as part of B105′s Naked Wedding competition.

Ellie Barton and Phil Hendicott will finally bare all when the couple tie the knot before 250 (fully clothed) guests at Gianni’s Events at Portside.

For the bride to be it will be a welcome relief from the daily fitness workouts the couple have endured in the lead-up to their flesh-fest nuptials.

“We started working out with a personal trainer the day we found out we won the competition,” the Courier Mail quoted Ellie as telling Confidential ahead of tomorrow’s wedding.

“When I first started I said to him: ‘Right, this is what I want us to work on – abs and bum.’ So ever since then he has been killing me every morning.

“But it’s been worth it. It makes you feel good at the least.

“But I must admit I am getting a bit nervous. But my family has been really supportive.

“Even my Nan. She is celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary this week and she is all for it,” she stated.

Asked how much the couple will be exposing for the world to see, Barton plans to cover her front parts with an over-sized bunch of roses.

“Well, we will have some body paint on,” she said.

“I have a massive bouquet.

“There are about 250 roses in it and it is very heavy but it will cover plenty,” she added. (ANI)

UK teens spend 87 hours a year looking at online porn

New York, Feb 11 (ANI): The average teen spends one hour and 40 minutes each week surfing the Internet for pornography, according to new UK research.

This mathematics equates to 87 hours a year spent surfing for porn.

A further hour and 35 minutes is spent looking at dieting and weight loss websites, the Daily Mail reported.

The study of 1,000 youngsters, which found the average teenager was online 31 hours each week looking at soft pornography, plastic surgery, dieting, family planning and emotional support, was conducted by CyberSentinel.

“The alarming thing about this research is that it shows that teenagers are obviously exploring all sorts of topics as a result of modern-day pressures,” the New York Daily News quoted Ellie Puddle, Marketing Director of CyberSentinel, as saying.

“And for some reason they find it easier to go online to conduct their research than asking mum and dad for advice,” she added. (ANI)
