Malaysian lady supports husband’s ‘regular sex’ admission

Kuala Lumpur, June 6 (IANS) Admission by an award-winning teacher that he owes his day-long energy and success to ‘reading and regular sex every night’ has raised hackles in conservative Malaysia.

But his wife supports him saying: ‘He was just being honest.’

Housewife Rosmawati Abdullah, 41, says those who criticize Alias Ismail, 42, are ‘stuck with the old school of thought’, The Star said Sunday.

‘Through reading and having a cordial relationship, we managed to raise our children to be caring and disciplined. What’s wrong if my husband shares his formula with others?’ she asks.

The couple’s eldest son Mohammad Sallehuddin, 24, too supports the father.

He said his father openly discussed matters with them that are considered taboo in other families.

‘He teaches us to be humble while advising us not to indulge in illicit sexual relationships,’ he said.

‘To me, we have the best dad.’

Last Monday, Alias, a Bahasa Malaysia teacher at SMK Menerong, was the inaugural recipient of the state-initiated Tokoh Nilam award to honour an outstanding teacher.

He had then said his secret to remaining active was to read, have an intellectual discussion with his wife and have sex every night.

Alias, who insisted that he was ‘not a hypocrite’ and was encouraging ‘only legitimate sex’, said he was disappointed by certain parties who were attempting to discredit him.

He did not name the critics.

Rosmawati told the newspaper that there was nothing wrong in talking openly about sex between married couples.

‘He is being honest about sex because he is concerned that social ills among students are quite high. It’s important not to have illicit sex. People should scrap the mentality that sex education is taboo,’ said Rosmawati.

A majority of people in multi-racial Malaysia are Malays practicing Islam.

Libyan leader’s son says Lockerbie bomber very sick

The Lockerbie bomber is still ‘very sick’ with advanced stage cancer, nine months after he was released from a Scottish jail on compassionate grounds, Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi’s son has said.

Seif al-Islam, Kadhafi’s eldest son, was asked during a speech in London about the health of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi, who he escorted home to Libya on a private jet after his release last August.

“Mr al-Megrahi is very sick. He has cancer in a very advanced stage and he is in Libya. That’s all I know about his condition,” he said.

Megrahi is the only person convicted of the 1998 bombing of a US jet over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, which left 270 people dead.

He was released from his Scottish prison in August 2009 because he was suffering from terminal cancer and only had months to live, but the move caused controversy in the United States, where most of the victims were from.

Seif al-Islam heads the Kadhafi Foundation, which is involved in development and humanitarian work, and his speech focused on his vision for a more democratic Libya and one where oil wealth was more evenly distributed.

Half a dozen vocal protesters greeted his arrival at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he has studied in the past. They waved placards and shouted “(Moamer) Kadhafi’s a murderer,” amid a heavy police presence.

Although he is treated as the heir apparent to his father, who headed a coup that overthrew the monarchy in 1969, Seif al-Islam said he had no desire to be a crown prince and Libya “is not in need of a king”.

“I think the best system for Libya is democracy.”

When Russell Crowe threw a log at Prince Andrew

London, May 11 (ANI): Russell Crowe shocked his co-stars on the set of ‘Robin Hood’ when he threw a log at visiting royal Prince Andrew, who is the second eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II.

The prince was visiting the set of Sir Ridley Scott”s film in Windsor Great Park – part of the royal family”s land – when Crowe threw a log prop at the prince to prove the royal heir is just a normal “bloke”.

“I”m happy he caught the log. It was an instinctive thing – it”s like when you are playing sport. I threw it where he had the best possible chance of catching it. The thing is, if I”d thrown it too hard I”d have made a complete jerk of myself, and it wasn”t about doing that.

“It was about showing a group of Englishmen, who were a little bit overawed with their prince being there, that”s he”s a bloke and is ready for a bit of fun,” The Daily Express quoted Crowe as telling Live magazine.

Crowe was charmed after meeting the prince.

“I really liked him. He”s smart, knowledgeable and very inquisitive. He told a funny story too. He said, ”I was having dinner with my mother, and I asked her if it was appropriate that I wear a suit when visiting the film set.”

“And his mother, who is the Queen after all, said, ”No Andrew, if you turn up in a suit people will think you”re a ninny (fool).” Whatever I thought I knew about him changed completely. He was charming,” he said. (ANI)

Thaksin denies rumors of death due to cancer

Bangkok, Apr 26 (ANI): Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been living in self-exile, has denied rumors circulating on Internet that he is dead.

Rumours about Thaksin’s death have been sweeping the Internet in recent days, after it became clear that the former premier was suffering from terminal stage cancer.

One version said he had died during a chemotherapy session on Friday, The Bangkok Post reports.

Thaksin’s eldest son, Panthongtae, earlier denied on his Twitter page that that his father had died, but that failed to persuade some people.

“I’m sorry [for those who invent the rumors], but I’m fine. I’m not sick. No doctors have treated me for anything,” Thaksin said in his own Twitter page around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

He said he had rarely addressed the Red Shirt rally recently because he wanted to distance himself from the Red Shirt movement, to make it clear that the demonstration was purely for democracy and not for him.

Thaksin lashed out at the Abhisit Vejjajiva-led government for turning down the red-shirted United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) demand that he dissolve the House in 30 days.

“The UDD leaders should be applauded for agreeing to take one step back. However, it was disappointing that the government rejected it,” Thaksin said.

On April 10, the red shirt demonstrators and security forces clashed in Bangkok. Theksin had left Dubai the same day, and had since travelled to Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Europe. (ANI)

Camilla takes tumble, breaks leg

Prince Charles’s wife Camilla has broken her leg while hiking in Scotland but plans to keep all her scheduled engagements.

She is likely to wear a plaster cast for about six weeks, by which time the “relatively minor” injury should have healed, experts said.

“While hillwalking in slippery conditions in Scotland, the Duchess of Cornwall took a tumble and hurt her leg,” a spokeswoman for Clarence House said after the accident Wednesday.

Following doctor’s advice on Thursday, Camilla, who has been staying on the Royal family’s Balmoral country estate in Scotland, had an X-ray “which showed a twisted fracture of the fibula”, the spokeswoman added.

“Consequently her royal highness is wearing a plaster cast and will be for six weeks. She has been advised not to put weight on her leg and her royal highness has every intention of carrying out all planned engagements.”

Camilla was said to be comfortable and philosophical about the accident, said the spokeswoman.

“The Duchess is cheerful and it’s a case of life goes on – it could be worse,” she said.

Charles, 61, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and heir to the British throne, married the former Camilla Parker Bowles in April 2005. His previous marriage to the late princess Diana ended in divorce in August 1996.

The 62-year-old Duchess needed to be helped down from the hill after the accident which happened while she and Charles were on their traditional Easter break at Birkhall, the Prince’s private home on the Balmoral estate.

Barry Ferris, an orthopaedic surgeon at Barnet Hospital in north London, said the break should heal relatively quickly.

“A fibula fracture is usually related to a direct blow. She may have fallen over on something like a rock. Age is not probably going to be a factor for her,” he said.

“While it’s true the bones thin as you get older, she is very active.

“This is a relatively minor injury. She will be sore for a couple of weeks but she should be fine after six weeks.”

The accident follows an unrelated health problem – a trapped nerve in her back – that forced Camilla to cancel a number of engagements during a recent trip to central Europe.

Gary Lineker”s son George dating Big Brother 10 winner Sophie Reade?

London, Mar 31 (ANI): George Lineker, eldest son of Match Of The Day host Gary, has been spotted with Big Brother 10 winner and glamour model Sophie Reade.

George, 18, arrived at a Walkers Crisps party at Orchid nightclub in Piccadilly, with Gary, 49, and his 30-year-old new wife, underwear model Danielle Bux, on Monday night.

And when the elders left for home, George teamed up with the statuesque blonde to enjoy a spot of club-hopping together.

The pair headed for the upmarket Mahiki nightspot where he had celebrated his 18th birthday in October.

The couple were clearly at ease together, as they were spotted gazing into each other’s eyes and sharing private jokes before they left holding hands early yesterday.

With Sophie clinging to George for support, they hailed a black cab and sped off.

It is believed that the couple have been out several times since Sophie ended her romance with Big Brother housemate Kris Donnelly last summer.

However, a source denied that the pair are anything more than good friends.

“They’re just really good friends. They’ve known each other a couple of years and are very close,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying of the couple. (ANI)

MJ’s son was called to revive dead dad, claims La Toya

Washington, September 12 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s eldest son was called in to try and resuscitate his dead father, the star’s sister La Toya has claimed.

La Toya said 12-year-old Prince Michael was asked to revive the singer, who died aged 50 at his Los Angeles house.

“Why would you want to do that that to a child, especially when you knew that Michael was no longer alive?” Contactmusic quoted her as saying in an interview on TV in America on Friday night that aired on news show 20/20.

The singer also said the Jacksons would not stay in peace until they discovered what happened in the final hours leading to the death of the King of Pop.

She added: “Something went wrong… It wasn’t an accident; he was murdered.” (ANI)

US reality TV stars expecting their 19th child!

London, Sep 2 (ANI): The couple from reality TV show ’18 Kids and Counting’ have announced that they are expecting their 19th child.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, from Tonitown, Arkansas, say that they are ‘thrilled’ to be expecting a new addition next spring, despite already having ten sons and eight daughters aged from eight months to 21.

“We are so thrilled. We just couldn’t believe it is happening,” the Telegraph quoted Michelle Duggar, 42, as having told People magazine.

Jim Bob, 44, added: “This never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We are looking forward to our first grand baby and our 19th child.”

The couple’s eldest son Joshua, 21, and his wife Anna are also expecting a child next month.

The Duggars have confirmed that the new baby will be given a name beginning with the letter ‘J’, just like all the couple’s other children.

The existing Duggar children are called: Josh, 21, twins Jana and John-David, 19; Jill, 18; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 13; Joy-Anna, 11; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 10; Jason, 9; James, 8; Justin, 6; Jackson, 5; Johanna, 3; Jennifer, 2, and Jordyn-Grace, 8 months.

If the Duggars continue to breed at the same rate the next generation will have 400 members, the third generation will have 8,000, the fourth 160,000, and the fifth 3.2 million.

This would mean that one in ever hundred people in America would be a Duggar, there would be more Duggars than Latvians, and there would be more Duggars than residents of America’s 21 least populous states. (ANI)

Kim stamps out memory of his first love

Moscow, Aug.9 (ANI): A lonely grave in Moscow marks the resting place of the film star who was the first love of the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-il, and the mother of his eldest son.

She lies a few yards from the graves of Josef Stalin’s son Vassily and his wife, in the Troekurovskoe cemetery on the outskirts of the Russian capital.

A plain black headstone inscribed with her name – Song Hye-rim – and her dates of birth and death adorns a slab decorated in oriental style.

In the twilight of Kim’s rule, the discovery has highlighted the plots and betrayals that govern the fortunes of his dynasty.

According to The Times, after hearing of gossip among the elite, Kim ordered the execution of all the North Koreans who had been students in Moscow and knew of her presence.

After years of mental illness, Song died in exile seven years ago. She gave birth to Kim’s eldest son, Jong-nam, but lived to see him fall from grace.

The drama began on a film set in the 1960s in Pyongyang, when a youthful Kim encountered a beguiling older woman who starred in patriotic movies. The two began an affair, even though Song was married to another man and had a daughter.

Song moved into Kim’s residence, staffed by eight cooks, 100 servants and 500 bodyguards in 1969.

In 1971 Song gave birth to Jong-nam and the young father was apparently much enamoured, although her life from that moment was on a downward spiral.

Kim’s father, whose word was law in North Korea, never approved of their liaison and it seems they never formally married.

Instead, Kim was obliged to wed another woman, Kim Yong-suk, with whom he had a daughter.

Song’s relatives and friends said she fell into depression and suffered a series of mental breakdowns. irbrushed out of North Korean history, she lingered in Moscow until her death at the age of 65 in May 2002, of unknown causes.

Her son Jong-nam was educated at schools in Geneva and Moscow and grew up a spoilt bully in the absence of the parental attention he apparently craved. Today he is fond of gambling in Macau, a former Portuguese colony on the South China Sea.(ANI)

Jacko hired ‘day team and night team’ of nannies for Prince Michael

New Delhi, July 4 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson, who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last week, had reportedly employed a “day team and night team” of nannies to look after his eldest son Prince Michael.

The ‘Thriller’ sensation was said to be desperate to ensure that Prince Michael was properly cared for after his birth in 1997, and thus hired 12 people so that someone would always be with his son, reports the China Daily.

“The baby was cared for by a team of six nannies and six nurses, who worked in shifts so that there were always two nurses and two nannies by his side,” a source who worked at Michael’s Neverland Ranch said.

“They were kept under constant video surveillance, which was monitored by members of Jackson’s security team. The nannies all had special training.

“The day-team did exercise drills with the baby to build up his strength. The night-team read and sang to him,” the source added.

Concerned about his child’s well-being, adds the newspaper report, Jackson even ordered the nannies to throw away the boy’s toys each evening to guard against germs.

A nanny revealed: “We had to measure the air quality in his room once an hour. When we fed him, all the utensils had to be boiled and were all thrown away after a single use.”

Prince Michael was the singer’s first child with his ex-wife Debbie Rowe. (ANI)

Kanimozhi opts out of Cabinet race, DMK likely to join UPA by Monday (Lead – DMK talks)

Chennai, May 24 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi is reported to have decided not to push for a berth in the Union Cabinet, and told reporters outside her Chennai residence that a clear announcement on DMK decisions will be made on Monday.

Informed party sources said that Kanimozhi has told the DMK leadership that she would like to concentrate her efforts on party affairs for the time being, thus facilitating a compromise between senior party leaders here on Sunday over Cabinet portfolios.

According to informed party sources, Karunanidhi’s grand nephew Dayanidhi Maran, his eldest son M. Azhagiri and senior leader A. Raja will be the DMK’s choice for full Cabinet rank in the UPA Government at the Centre, while former Shipping and Surface Transport Minister T.R. Baalu has been shown the door for the time being.

These decisions are likely to end the political impasse between the DMK and the Congress over portfolio allocation, though Karunanidhi is said to be quite disappointed over his inability to have Baalu accommodated.

Sources said that they expect some leader from the Congress to fly down to Chennai to announce the formal induction of the DMK into the Congress-led UPA government.

Some sources, however, said they expected some more meetings to take place, especially with supporters of Baalu, who are said to be unhappy over the latest development. The sources there is still every chance of a reversal on the decisions taken so far.

“The party chief is meeting senior party leaders individually and a final decision on joining the UPA government is expected be known this (Sunday) evening,” a DMK senior leader said, requesting anonymity.

“Our demand was nine ministerial berths. The Congress may settle down for seven,” the leader said, adding that first time parliamentarians may not be given cabinet rank but only Minister of State.

After several rounds of talks on sharing of ministerial berths failed, the DMK had announced last Thursday that it would support the UPA government from outside.

The DMK leader said the Congress wants to keep the infrastructure portfolios like shipping, surface transport and power. However, the DMK is keen to complete the Sethu Samudram project and it feels that if a party member is not given the shipping portfolio then the project to create a shipping canal in the Palk Strait will remain in limbo.

However, the general feeling in the leadership is that the DMK will join the government.

He said if the DMK decides to participate, then a Congress leader would come down to Chennai and both the parties would jointly announce the DMK””s joining the government.

Earlier senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader and eldest son of party supreme M. Karunanidhi, M. Azhagiri, created a political controversy of sorts on Sunday, when he said that the Congress leadership had not discussed portfolio allocation with the DMK during their meetings in New Delhi last week.

He said that the decision on portfolios would only be determined after the Congress contacts his party leadership in Chennai.

Azhagiri’s controversial comment came as Karunanidhi was locked in discussions with senior party leaders till late Saturday night, grappling with the question of whether the DMK should accept ministerial berths and portfolios offered by the Congress.

With the second expansion of the cabinet taking place on Tuesaday (May 26), sources say the deal with the Congress could be clinched today.

Karunanidhi is faced with the dilemma of dividing the cabinet berths currently on offer between the family and the party.

Meanwhile, key Congress negotiator, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has said there are no differences of opinion with the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) party.

“There is no problem whatsoever with DMK (Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam). We had mutually decided that we would fix some other day to talk to each other because this time we did not have much time. The date of swearing in ceremony was already fixed. And it needed two-three sittings and even DMK itself also said that we””””ll sit on some other occasions,” Azad said.

Durai Muruga, a DMK leader, said: “We have discussed all the issues of the party, you asked about joining the Centre and that was also discussed in the meeting and I cannot reveal all the discussed matter to press at the moment.”

Emerging as the third biggest party in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) after the Congress and the Trinamool Congress with 18 seats, DMK is believed to have demanded seven ministerial posts, which was not acceptable to the Congress.

Karunanidhi visited New Delhi on May 19 and held discussion with Prime Minister-elect Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, but the talks were stalled over allocation of cabinet berths.

While the move will not deprive Congress of a majority in parliament, it is seen as a blow to the coalition after it won a sweeping victory in the general election.

Other regional parties in the 543-member Lok Sabha have assured support to the Congress-led coalition of 274 members. (ANI)

Prabhakaran’s son had suffered serious injuries in clashes

COLOMBO: LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran’s elder son Charles Anthony, who is believed to be among the dead, was reportedly seriously injured while commanding a contingent of the Tamil Tiger forces.

Anthony, in his twenties, could have been injured during clashes with Sri Lankan army and had undergone treatment in March, reports had said.

He was fighting the security forces alongside other prominent Tamil Tiger leaders like Banu and Lakshman, one of the arrested suicide cadres had revealed.

“Charles Anthony, eldest son of LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran is said to have been seriously wounded by artillery fire, while he was at Pudhukkudiyiruppu,” army sources had said.

Thereafter, LTTE cadres took him to the no-fire zone and Prabhakaran’s doctor was treating him.

Prabhakaran named his eldest son after Charles Anthony, a close and loyal confidante of his, who was killed in confrontations with the Sri Lankan Army years ago.

Prabhakaran’s son, who returned from Ireland in 2006, is believed to have got a degree in aeronautical engineering and is heading the air wing and computer unit of LTTE, according to the reports.

Anthony is also believed to have played a key role in building the air wing, which surprised the Sri Lankan military with a night raid on Colombo two years ago.

The LTTE airforce came into prominence when it struck on the Sri Lankan military air base inside Colombo’s international airport in March, 2007.
“Prabhakaran has two other children – a daughter Dhuwraha in her 20′s and another teenager son Balachandran — whose whereabouts aren’t known.

Liev Schreiber livid over ‘squirrel like’ X-Men figurine

Washington, May 9 (ANI): Hollywood actor Liev Schreiber, who portrays Victor Creed in X-Men, is disappointed that his X-Men toy figure looks like an angry squirrel.

Live’s character eventually adopts the mutant alter-ego of Sabretooth, opposite Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the flick, but the plastic figure of Sabretooth looks nothing more than an angry bushy squirrel, according to a disappointed Live.

“I have one complaint about it, not that I’m not excited to finally have an action figure after all these years, but I want to know what compelled the designers of this action figure to – I’m assuming they read the plotline for the movie and saw that I play this prehistoric game cat – but what possessed them to make me look like an angry squirrel. You can almost see the nuts (in the mouth)!” Contactmusic quoted Liev as saying.

On the other hand, Schreiber’s eldest son with Naomi Watts doesn’t hold the same opinion as his father, as he loves the toy and has a huge collection.

Ranchi, April 8 (IANS) Ignoring the Congress’ request, Durga Soren, the eldest son of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren, has refused to withdraw his nomination from the Godda Lok Sabha constituency in Jharkhand.

Wednesday was the last day for withdrawal of nomination for the second phase of elections, scheduled April 23.

But the Congress’ efforts to persuade Durga Soren to back out have failed.

Under the Congress-JMM seat-sharing agreement in the state, Godda was allotted to the Congress, which has a sitting MP there.

Godda MP Furkan Ansari of the Congress met Durga Soren Monday and again Tuesday and tried to persuade him to withdraw his nomination.

‘It is up to the JMM and Durga Soren to decide on the alliance in the state. The Congress is waiting for their decision,’ said Alok Dubey, spokesperson of the Congress election committee in Jharkhand.

Filing his nomination, Durga Soren had said he would teach a lesson to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) for ensuring his father’s defeat in the Tamar assembly by-election.

In January, Shibu Soren had lost the by-election, which he needed to win to remain the state’s chief Minister.
