Coaching Pakistan team ‘not bed of roses’: Waqar Younis

Lahore, Mar.27 (ANI): Admitting that coaching the national squad ‘is not a bed of roses’, newly appointed Pakistan cricket coach, Waqar Younis, has said that he has left his ego back in Australia and is now ready to accept the challenge.

“Coaching is all about management. A coach needs to forget his ego – for being a great player of yesteryear. He should come to the level of his players and think the way they think. I have left my ego back in Australia because I believe that no coach is bigger than the game,” Waqar said in an interview with Deutsche Welle Urdu Service.

Waqar, who had settled in Sydney after retiring from professional cricket, said he would give his best and would try not to disappoint the fans, who have had few occasions to celebrate over their national squad’s success in the recent past.

“The history of Pakistan cricket tells us that the coaching of the national team is no an easy task. But someone had had to come forward and I accepted the challenge. I assure the nation and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that I will not disappoint them,” he said.

Waqar, who arguably was one of best swing bowler of his times, said his priority would be to install discipline and confidence in the team, and urged people to refrain from criticising the team and the team management after every defeat.

“I understand that the people of Pakistan are mad for cricket and their sentiments are badly injured when the national team loses but I request them that they should curb their emotions and try to understand the circumstances before reacting,” he said.

Though Waqar’s first assignment is to help Pakistan defend its title in the upcoming ICC T20 World Championship in West Indies, but the newly appointed coach said his prime target is the 2011 World Cup.

“Yes, World Cup 2011 is the real target. I have seen immense talent in Pakistan A and U-19 teams which needs to be groomed and I am sure that in next few months things would start moving in the right direction,” he said.

Waqar said Pakistan has got players who are capable of lifting the T20 World Cup once again, and added that fitness plays a vital role in any major tournament.

“Pakistan are capable of defending their title in the presence of Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq and Akmal brothers,” he said. (ANI)

David Beckham, actor James Corden get ‘naked’ for a bubble bath!

London, Mar 17 (ANI): English footballer David Beckham was pictured sharing a bubble bath with actor James Corden.

Beckham, 34, stripped off in a hilarious sketch for the BBC’s Sport Relief, which was filmed in Milan several weeks ago before he tore his left Achilles.

“It is undoubtedly the single funniest scene ever filmed for Sport Relief or Comic Relief,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“David and James, who was playing his alter-ego Smithy, got on famously and really sparked off one another. In the three-minute scene, the pair share a romantic candle-lit bath for no other reason than they want to.

“David even gives James’s body an appreciative nod at one point. Forget comedy gold – this is comedy platinum,” the source added. (ANI)

Ludhiana hosts seminar on Sufism

Ludhiana, Sep 19(ANI): Ludhiana recently played host to a national seminar on Sufism. This time, the theme was the influence of Sufism on modern times.

The Sahitaya Academy of New Delhi and the Punjab Sahitaya Academy organized the seminar.

The seminar also focused on the ‘pain of separation from God’ and intellectuals, poets and Sufi singers.

“Sufism says that God, whom a man looks for all over, is within him. And once he realizes this fact, he will be free of his ego and will find happiness,” said Vaasthe Mohi, a Sindhi poet from Ahmedabad.

While, Gulshan Majith, a poet from Jammu and Kashmir, said: “When God is everything, so what is the importance of religion and caste discrimination, this is the message of Sufism. Shaivaism, Buddhism and Sufism give same message to the world and consider this world as the manifestation of that supreme power and do not make a distinction with the other. There are no boundaries. Everybody in this world is equal for God.”

The participants also put forth the argument that many Punjabi poets make use of themes from popular Punjabi culture. r. Chandraprakash Deval, a poet from Rajasthan, said Sufism is the paramount method to fight terrorism.

“Sufism is the best way to fight terrorism. If the minds of people can be changed, they will start respecting other religions, humanity and the feeling of brotherhood and secularism will increase, terrorism will be finished then. So to fight terrorism it is important to popularize the way shown by Sufism, adopt and follow that way and spread the feeling of brotherhood,” Deval said.

Sufi singer Balbir Kaur, who also teaches singing at Guru Nanak College in Ludhiana, held the audience spellbound and she also highlighted that school students must be made aware of the great cultural heritage, traditional folk art and literature of the Sufi saints, to promote Punjabi language.

Associating Sufism with any one religion is against its very basic tenets. Underlining this basic fact, renowned Sufi singers Idrim Khan and Skakur Khan from Rajasthan sung the verses of Bulle Shah, Guru Nanak, Kabir and Sajjan Shah. By Karan Kapoor (ANI)

Katie Price’s hellraiser lifestyle could make her lose kids and £5m

London, September 6 (ANI): Hottie Katie Price could lose custody of her kids as well as 5 million pounds to her estranged husband/singer Peter Andre due to her hellraiser lifestyle, according to a top showbiz lawyer.

Ambi Sitham has said that the reality star’s boozy jaunts to Ibiza may do her harm during the divorce procedures at court.

“Price’s behaviour over the last four months is probably going to contribute to the custody arrangements, especially her well-publicised trips to Ibiza,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

Price’s explicit relationship with boyfriend Alex Reid, who has acted in an X-rated movie, may become a problem too.

She added: “She was obviously getting very drunk. In addition she has exposed her children at a very young age to a new relationship with Alex Reid.

“They will look into his background and at his suitability as a potential stepfather to Price’s children.

“The courts will not look favourably on anyone they deem a bad role model.

“I should think the least the judge would decide is to grant joint custody of the children to Price and Andre. He might even get sole custody.

“Andre, coming from a strong Greek-Cypriot family background, has conducted himself as the model father.”

The lawyer believes that Price could lose out on at least a quarter of the 20million pounds she has made since her wedding to the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer during the settlement.

Ambi said: “The courts will look at what role was played in emotional support as well as financial.

“Andre will be able to show he contributed to the Katie Price brand. Before they met she was purely known as Jordan the glamour model.

“As a result of marrying Andre she was able to create an alter ego. I think she is in line for a bit of a shock.

“She will not be walking away from this without making a substantial payout.” (ANI)

Black Eyed Peas break US chart record

London, Aug 21 (ANI): American hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas have broken a US chart record by notching up 20 weeks on top of the singles countdown.

The band’s song ‘I Gotta Feeling’ has claimed an eighth week at number one, following 12 weeks at pole position with ‘Boom Boom Pow’.

The record beats Usher, who held the number one spot for 19 weeks in 2004 with Yeah! and Burn.

“It is amazing to know that these songs have connected with so many people,” the BBC quoted Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie as saying.

She also added that it was what had “kept them alive for so long”.

“With this kind of success your ego wants to take all the credit,” fellow Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am said.

“But your heart reminds your soul that it was your heart that had you slaving and creating in the studio making the music.

“In the fight between heart and ego my heart always wins,” he added. (ANI)

Pressure of 50-concerts killed Jacko, says his old pal

London, June 29 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s old friend producer and TV star David Gest believes that the pressure of 50-concert schedule killed the singer.

Gest said he was angry about the influence of mysterious Lebanese doctor Tohme R Tohme, who met the King of Pop when the singer was staying in Bahrain in 2005.

“We all have weaknesses and Michael’s was that he trusted the wrong people most of the time. He thought all people were good, which they are not,” the Sun quoted Gest as saying.

Gest said that Tohme had masterminded Michael’s mammoth run of 50 comeback concerts at London’s O2 Arena, without telling the singer the full facts.

“Michael told me he was excited about getting back on stage. I told him I was proud of him. But I really believe in my heart of hearts that the pressure of those concerts killed Michael.

“He thought there were going to be ten dates as announced. But then all of a sudden Tohme, along with Randy Phillips, president of organisers AEG, had arranged 20, 30 then 50 dates.

“Michael was being told, ‘You are going to set the world record for concerts at the O2, you are going to beat Prince’s record.’

“They knew how to feed into his ego. But when Michael realised his schedule, he began to panic. It was one show after another, with hardly any days off. He should never have been tied to so many, especially a guy who dances through more than half of his set,” he added. (ANI)

Wallace And Gromit star Peter Sallis ‘not mad about cheese’

London, June 25 (ANI): Wallace And Gromit star Peter Sallis has revealed he is ‘just not mad about cheese’ unlike his screen alter ego.

The 88-year-old, who has been lending his voice for eccentric inventor Wallace for the last two decades, said he would rather dig into a cake.

“I have to admit I am not really a big cheese fan. I certainly haven’t got the passion Wallace has for it,” The Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“I was actually warned off the stuff a while ago for health reasons, the simple fact is I’m just not mad about cheese. I much prefer a nice piece of cake.

“I don’t even know if I’ve ever eaten Wensleydale cheese. I haven’t touched the stuff for decades,” he added. (ANI)

Ten steps to extended massive orgasm

Washington, June 23 (ANI): While majority of couples wish to have extended massive orgasm (EMO), not everybody comes down to experiencing these repeated orgasmic waves.

Lovers experiencing one of these massive orgasms have reported enjoying more of life’s joys in general, becoming nicer and more generous in their relationship.

An EMO can last minutes or hours, offering up blissful sensations at increasing intensities, reports Fox News.

And here are the tricks of this tantalizing trade:

1. Truly recognize your pleasure

You want to immediately approve of your present sensations. This starts before you even get in the sack by overcoming anxieties you have about sex. This may require identifying limitations you’ve been taught about sex, like how you’re supposed to respond (or not respond). You need to then challenge any social conditioning that impedes upon your response.

Ridding yourself of the uninvited “others” in your bed will enable you to solely focus on the orgasmic sensations, including ones that come from simply anticipating action.

2. Learn to relax

Lovers have the tendency to tense up during sexual excitement, which is not conducive to extended orgasm. You need to be able to surrender your nervous system during genital stimulation. It’s this letting go of tension that allows you to embrace your pleasure.

3. Get in the know

The more we know about our bodies, sex, and sexual response, the better we can recognize sensations, the more we can lose ourselves in them. Become knowledgeable about sexual response, sexual anatomy, and erotic techniques.

4. Give yourselves time for pleasuring

Lovers may stimulate each other by fantasizing out loud, taking your time getting to the genitals and hot spots. Teasing allows for greater energy awareness and arousal, and these are what make the experience ultimately so mind-blowing.

5. Touch for pleasure

You can show your partner that you are into the moment by informing them about what you are going to do so he or she can surrender more easily. Highlighting a lover’s physical responses further enables them to tune into the sensations.

6. Learn to channel your energy

You want to get out of your head, directing your energy to your groin. This will make for more explosive results, plus help you to further tune into your sexual response.

7. Become an effective communicator

To amplify things up, you may need to request changes that will intensify your pleasure if you’re the receiver. As the giver, you may need to ask for feedback or direction. In either case, asking for more will help you to feel more. Giving approval can do wonders for a lover’s ego.

8. Develop your pelvic floor muscles

Exercising your pubbococcygeus (PC) muscle will put you more in tune with your sexual response. It’s also what makes for more powerful orgasms.

9. Have plenty of lubricant handy

As you will be loving for the long-haul, make sure you avoid the friction, pain, and discomfort that can result from working each other raw by using lube.

10. Do away with any drive-thru mentality

Having an EMO isn’t like going for fast food. One can’t go into it thinking instant gratification. Instead, approach it as though training for a sport. (ANI)

Andy Murray hopes to become the David Beckham of tennis

London, June 22 (ANI): Britain’s No.1 player Andy Murray hopes to become the David Beckham of tennis, as he bids to deal with the huge pressure of being a sporting superstar.

Murray has the same management team as football legend Beckham, and when the pair launched a campaign recently to increase awareness of malaria, they travelled together to meet Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“When you start out as a professional, you look to keep the same friends, the same people you have always had around you and just try to be true to yourself and do things that are important to you,” the world No. 3 said.

“When you start changing as a person and getting an inflated opinion of yourself and having a big ego, it becomes a problem. It happens a lot in sport nowadays and David’s done a great job of not letting all the fame and pressure get to him,” The Sun quoted Murray, as saying.

“David seems a very nice guy. It was a bit strange when we went to Downing Street – but to get the chance to meet the Prime Minister was very, very nice. That’s one job I definitely would not want to do,” he said.

Murray has two physical-fitness trainers and also travels with physio Andy Ireland, who even gives the player acupuncture if he is suffering from any aches or strains.

“In terms of the physical stuff, I started doing that 18 months ago when I started working with the new fitness trainers and was just travelling with them every week. I was training during the tennis and it made a huge difference over the year,” Murray said.

“Because of doing that, I was able to start doing the 400 metre and 200 metre runs faster and better – and lifting heavier weights. It wasn’t one thing specifically in the gym I was doing it was pretty much every part of the body I was working.

“I now feel like I can last longer in matches, whereas before I might have played a five-set match in a Slam and felt fine but my recovery wasn’t as good. I’m just recovering better from tough matches now,” he added. (ANI)

‘Terminator Salvation’ bruises Schwarzenegger’s ego

London, May 27 (IANS) Hollywood action hero-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that he was “a little upset” when his kids declared the new “Terminator” movie “Terminator Salvation” as their favourite.

The Austrian star celebrated America’s Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25) by taking a family trip to the cinema hall to check out the latest movie in the franchise that shot him to superstardom but was hurt after his four children loved the new movie more than the earlier three starring him, reports contactmusic.com.

“Oh yeah, the whole family went to see it. It’s a great film, I was very excited. The only thing about it was, I was a little upset because when we came out, I said, ‘What did you think of it?’ and they said, ‘That was the best ‘Terminator’ movie ever!’ So that’s really, like thanks a lot, that really helped (my ego),” he said.

Schwarzenegger starred in the first three “Terminator” films – “The Terminator” (1984), the 1991 sequel “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, and “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” (2003).

He makes an appearance in “Terminator Salvation” but didn’t film a single scene. Instead, producers used footage from the original trilogy and spliced it into the new movie.

Ronaldo can sometimes overdo his dives, says Evra

Rome, May 27 (ANI): Manchester United left back Patrice Evra has said that star striker Cristiano Ronaldo has a tendency to overdo his dives on the football field, and because of that cops a ribbing from his team mates.

The Sun quoted Evra as saying: “He can overdo it when he falls. Even we take the mickey out of him for that. He doesn’t like it much. It annoys him.”

“It’s clear he has his ego but, honestly, he plays for the team. He is cool,” he added. (ANI)

Rihanna says ‘Brown-blasting’ song on Kanye West’s blog is fake

Washington, May 14 (ANI): Rihanna’s representatives have denied reports of her recording a new song, blasting ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, and they insist that the recording, which appears on Kanye West’s blog, is a fake.

As per the reports, Rihanna came out with a new track, titled Silly Boy, in which she seemingly mocks her former lover over their infamous bust-up in February.

The song, which also reportedly featured guest vocals from Lady Gaga, was posted on West’s Internet blog at the weekend.

The track contained the lyrics, “Silly boy get outta here, I don’t want you any more, the only thing I want from you is to stay away. I said I’m not coming back, you fooled me once but you can’t have that ego turning. Just too bad for you, that when you had me, didn’t know what to do, she’s over you.

“Cause you had a good girl, good girl, girl. That’s a keeper. You had a good girl, good girl but didn’t know how to treat her.”

But representatives for both artists have denied they were involved in the song, and the Barbadian singer’s rep have insisted she is not on the track.

“The song is a fake… It’s not Lady Gaga,” Contactmusic quoted the Poker Face star’s spokesperson as telling Access Hollywood. (ANI)

Amar Singh does U-turn, won’t quit Samajwadi Party

Lucknow, April 8 (IANS) Hours after he publicly threatened to quit the Samajwadi Party owing to his ego clash with senior party leader Azam Khan, Amar Singh took a U-turn, claiming he had been misunderstood.

Differences within the Samajwadi Party flared up Tuesday, when general secretary Amar Singh dared party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to choose between him and party leader Azam Khan and said he was prepared to walk out of the organisation.

‘If people think that the party can survive without me but not without Azam Khan, I would not hesitate to say good-bye to Mulayam Singhji and make an exit from the party,’ he said at a seminar organised by the Student Islamic Federation of India here.

However, later he invited select TV journalists around 11 p.m. Tuesday at his Gomati Nagar residence to tell them: ‘I may leave this world but will never leave the Samajwadi Party’.

Samajwadi Party sources claimed that Amar Singh’s ‘change of heart’ came after Mulayam Singh gave him a piece of his mind.

Mulayam Singh was understood to have reminded Amar Singh that if he had risen from a liaison officer of a corporate house to a political leader of consequence, it was entirely due to the blessings showered on him by the Samajwadi Party chief.

Amar Singh promptly went for damage control and decided to blame the media by coming up with the usual alibi that he had been misquoted.

As if building up a defence for his subdued participation in the poll campaign, he went on to plead that ‘owing to ill-health, I may not be in a position to devote as much time in the campaign as I had planned earlier’.

He said his absence at some places should not be attributed ‘to anything else’.

When a journalist sought to know what he was ailing from, pat came the reply: ‘Both my kidneys are damaged, so I have to undergo various time-consuming procedures.’

Patients should not be left to suffer due to infighting at hospitals: HC

New Delhi, March 31 (ANI): Taking the authorities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to task over neglecting patients due to ego clashes among doctors, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday stated that internal disputes at the hospital would not to be tolerated at the cost of suffering patients.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice A P Shah expressed concern over patients not being treated properly due to ego clashes among different groups of doctors in the premier institute.

The court’s observation came while taking cognisance of a letter written by a mother of month-old child, alleging callousness on behalf of AIIMS doctor in treating her child.

In the letter, the mother Rekha told the court that her baby was suffering from heart ailment and was admitted to the AIIMS under the supervision of Doctor A K Bisoi, a Cardio Thoracic Surgeon. However, the baby was neglected by hospital authorities after Bisoi was suspended by the Health Minister on March 9.

Taking serious consideration of such a situation at the premier hospital, the court said, “We are interested in saving the child. Tell us how you are going to do it. We are not concerned about internal disputes in the hospital. Patients are suffering because of internal fighting.”

“No body should be victimised because of ego clash,” the court said while directing the hospital to bring one specialist doctor before it in the afternoon to assure that the child would be properly treated. (ANI)

Kanye West desperate to see himself playing live on stage

London, Mar 3 (ANI): Known for his tantrums and inflated ego, rapper Kanye West has said that his “greatest pain in life” is that he cannot see himself playing live on stage.

The 31-year-old star has claimed that though he watch his live concert DVDs, he still wants to feel how he performs on stage.

“God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God’s vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

Kanye has pulled his fair share of tantrums for not winning awards in the past.

But the hip-hop star, who had earlier labelled himself “the best rapper in history”, is well aware of his ego and is not ashamed.

He once said: “I do have an ego, and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego. Think about it – I don’t offend people, I don’t put anyone down. Do I name names, or bring people down? That’s not my thing. But I give myself big-ups. I feel good about the music I make.” (ANI)
