British journalist freed after paying fine

(Reuters) – British tabloid journalist Simon Wright had World Cup-related charges dropped on Saturday after paying an admission of guilt fine ahead of his trial in South Africa.

Sunday Mirror reporter Wright was arrested and charged with helping Pavlos Joseph illegally enter the England dressing room after their goalless draw against Algeria in Cape Town on June 18.

Joseph, media reports at the time said, blasted the England team for their performance.

However, after more than three hours of negotiations between prosecutors and Wright’s defense team on Saturday morning, the main charge of attempting to defeat or obstruct the administration of justice — or fraud — was dropped.

Wright will have a criminal record after paying a 750 rand ($99.10) admission of guilt fine for contravening sections of the Immigration Act by unlawfully registering under a false name at a Cape Town hotel. “The main count and first alternative count … is removed from the roll and the admission of guilt fine of 750 rand paid in respect of the second alternative count is accepted, therefore the matter is disposed of,” magistrate Joe Magele said.

South Africa’s police minister welcomed Saturday’s outcome as a “major victory” for the criminal justice system in Africa’s largest economy.

“Wright’s admission of guilt is indicative that some journalists will do anything to get a story, even commit a criminal act. We are a sovereign country, with laws that must be upheld by all citizens, as well as all visitors,” Minister Nathi Mthethwa said in a statement from the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure.

CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT

According to the original charge sheet, Wright was informed by his London office about Joseph’s identity and he set about providing the Sunday Mirror with an exclusive interview.

Wright arranged to meet Joseph, where a contractual agreement was reached to give the paper an exclusive account of his dressing room visit and to “provide and/or pose for photographs in return for a payment of 35,000 pounds ($53,080)” in the event the article was published.

Wright, say prosecutors, booked a room for himself and Joseph in the swanky five-star Bay Hotel under false names, although he did provide his correct credit card and passport details.

Wright’s article, which appeared on Sunday, June 20, raised alarm bells around security at Africa’s first hosting of the world’s most watched sports event.

“It was an embarrassing story for them (South African authorities) and that’s why they’ve reacted in the way they have,” Wright told reporters outside the Cape Town magistrates building where a special World Cup court heard the case.

“I got off a plane 10 days ago and was swooped upon by half a dozen South African police officers.”

A visibly relieved Wright, who had to surrender his passport when arrested, said he felt treated unfairly when not allowed to go home to prepare for his defense.

However, he said the Joseph episode was a good story.

“For me as a journalist it was a good story. For English newspaper readers it was a good story. I did my job. I did no more than that,” Wright said.

President’s prayers answered by Ghana success

South Africa (Reuters) – The president of Ghana led his nation’s soccer squad in prayers on Saturday shortly before they beat the United States 2-1 to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time.

Sports

John Atta Mills spoke to the players in the dressing room, giving them a pep talk before they prayed together, Ghana Football Association vice-president Fred Pappoe told Reuters.

“It made a lot of difference to the boys,” said Pappoe, who is also head of management for the Black Stars. “We always pray — before a game, in the bus, in the hotel and also on the pitch before each half and afterwards, no matter what the result.

“But to have our president here and sitting in the stands next to (FIFA president) Sepp Blatter was a solid morale-booster for the team. When he came to the dressing room, to see the boys, and to pep them up, it meant a lot.

“He said some prayers with the team, a special word of prayer just before the game when they went on to the pitch and it made a difference.”

Ghana, who face Uruguay in the quarter-finals at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Friday, are the only African team still in the tournament following the group stage exits of hosts South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast.

EMOTIONAL WIN

Their emotional extra-time win at the Royal Bafokeng stadium sparked wild celebrations as the players ran round the field with the South African and Ghanaian flags amid a riot of vuvuzela-led noise.

Pappoe said the Ghana players were all fully aware of their extra responsibility now they were seen as representing the African continent.

“It means a lot but it brings a lot of pressure and expectation and, of course, it would be lighter for them if there were one or two other African countries still in the competition.

“But we take this in our stride and our boys are playing to do their best and to reach their limits. We are the only team holding high the flag of Africa now so it is a moment of great pride for us, but we take it also in all humility.”

He added that the president’s visit had helped calm the players’ nerves. “They were, surprisingly, not nervous at all because they have faith in the coach and believe that if they play by the rules all will be fine,” he said.

“We take one game at a time and now go to the drawing board again and look at Uruguay to examine the mentality and resilience of that team. And, with the great support of Africa, I am sure we can go beyond them to the semi-finals.”

Strauss warns Eng players over match-fixing fears

With match-fixing rearing its ugly head once again, England Test captain Andrew Strauss has asked his teammates to be more vigilant and report the matter to the authorities if they come across such a situation.

“We have a duty if we hear of match fixing in domestic cricket or with England to come forward and report it straight away. For players to be tempted to take bookmakers’ money is ludicrous,” Strauss said.

Talking to reporters on the eve of his side’s first Test against England at Lord’s, Bangladesh skipper Shakib-al-Hasan also said he got a call on the eve of Bangladesh’s ODI series against Ireland in 2008, promising him sponsorship in return for under-performance.

Strauss said he himself has never come across of any match-fixing incident but stressed on the need to eradicate the menace straight away. “From my experience, I haven’t seen anything in the Middlesex dressing room or had any reason to suspect that a game I have played in has been fixed in any way. If it is happening, it needs to be stamped out straight away,” Strauss said at Lord’s.

Strauss, on his return to Test cricket, said he was excited to be back among the group again and hoping to fire with the bat.

County player approached

Meanwhile, according to The Daily Telegraph, a seasoned English county player claimed that an Indian businessman had approached him to fix one-day domestic matches, a development which sent alarms in the cricket fraternity. The report, which was published on Wednesday, said a player, who has more than 10 years’ experience in English cricket, was told by the Indian businessman to quote “his own price” and that “things are already happening in county cricket”.

The player, who remains anonymous, has reported the incident to authorities and the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) would be contacting the ICC’ Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACU) on the player’s behalf, the report said. “They basically told me I could name my price for providing them with knowledge of the result of the game. They made me believe other counties are already involved,” the player was quoted as saying.

Beckham rallies England squad to win World Cup for Brit soldiers in Afghanistan

London, May 26(ANI): England footballer David Beckham has called on Fabio Capello’s men to secure World Cup glory in South Africa to honour the British soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

Beckham, who was recently in Afghanistan for a surprise visit to boost the morale of thousands of British troops serving in the country, delivered a dressing room speech to his England team-mates before Monday’s friendly 3-1 victory over Mexico.

England captain Rio Ferdinand said that Beckham told the squad to be inspired by the troops in Afghanistan.

“Becks came in the changing room and he was talking about his trip. He told us about the experience he had going over there and what is was really like. He said the lads do a great job for us,” The Mirror quoted Ferdinand, as saying.

“It is great that we are getting support from the boys in Afghanistan. With them being so far away they probably think we don”t really care about what is going on, but we do,” he added.

Earlier, Beckham, who is recovering from an Achilles-tendon injury, had spoken about his respect for the armed forces.

“I have nothing, but admiration for these young men and women and it makes me very proud to be British,” Beckham said.

Britain has around 10,000 troops in Afghanistan as part of an international force, largely fighting the Taliban. (ANI)

Beckham will be England’s cheerleader

London, May 24 (IANS) David Beckham will not be an apprentice to manager Fabio Capello, but his role will be that of a cheerleader on the England bench at the football World Cup being held in South Africa June 11-July 11.

Capello made it clear that Beckham, who has been ruled out of the World Cup after rupturing his Achilles tendon, will not be a coaching staff.

‘He is not coaching staff, absolutely not,’ the England manager was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.

Capello was almost dismissive when mention was made that Beckham could contribute to tactical plans.

‘He will stay with us during the World Cup, but no coaching. You have to respect the coaches. He will not be like a coach. We have different projects for him, he is an ambassador for the 2018 World Cup and can go one or two times around South Africa. But it is important that David stays with us. He is one of the really important players who played with us. He is dedicated,’ Capello said.

Beckham’s role will now revolve around helping team spirit on a goodwill safari and, in dressing-room parlance, working as BBC – Balls, Bibs and Cones.

Lady Gaga ‘fires her security team’

London, May 21 (ANI): ‘Telephone’ hitmaker Lady Gaga is said to have fired her entire security staff after a fan managed to get on stage in Japan.

She also threw her wardrobe assistant for not locking her dressing room door.

“She went potty. She couldn”t believe they could let these things happen so she fired them on the spot. She goes out of her way to make her shows perfect and expects the same from her people,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“Some thought she would calm down but she put them straight on a plane home,” the source added. (ANI)

Cast of SATC 2 slept together in Morocco: Sarah Jessica Parker

Melbourne, May 20 (ANI): Sarah Jessica Parker and her Sex and the City 2 co-stars, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis got into bed together during the movie’s filming in Morocco.

“Being away for that long made our bond even closer and I think you can see that on screen. We lived together, ate every single meal together, stayed in one dressing room together – we sometimes slept in the same bed together,” the Age quoted Sarah Jessica as telling the Sun.

The actress, 45, added: “Being away from my home and my children was really hard for me, and I wouldn”t have done it with any other group of people.” (ANI)

Pak’s stunning defeat in Sydney Test under ICC’s anti-match fixing unit’s scanner

London, May 21 (ANI): Pakistan’s strikingly below par performance during the Australia tour in January-February is now under the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) anti-corruption unit’s scanner.

Pakistan had lost the Sydney Test by 36-runs despite taking a handsome lead in the first innings, and it is this loss which has caught the the ICC’s attention.

Chairman of the ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) Lord Condon confirmed that investigations were on to probe the alleged involvement of some of the Pakistani cricketers in the scandal.

“That has been an ongoing investigation since the time.It is a match and series that worried us, we spent a lot of time talking to the players and PCB. The challenge is finding where is the solid fact,” Condon said during a press conference here.

“What you have there is a lot of strife within the team and Pakistan politics with rivals camps making allegations. We are satisfied that was a totally dysfunctional tour from a Pakistan point of view. The dysfunctionality in the dressing room led to players not performing well, to maybe players potentially underperforming deliberately,” he added.

Referring to wicket keeper Kamran Akmal’s shoddy show during the Sydney Test, in which he dropped three easy catches and missed a straightforward run out chance, Condon said his performance is particularly being investigated.

“What we are trying to establish is whether that was because rival camps wanted to do down captains or potential captains. Or whether they were doing something more serious, for a financial fix,” The Daily Times quoted Condon, as saying.

Condon, however, pointed that it was difficult to completely eradicate the menace of match fixing.

“My prediction is you will never totally eradicate it from cricket. There will always be that temptation. But we had a cadre of modern players who know the risks and are playing for the right reasons,” he said. (ANI)

Winning Ashes Down Under will be the icing on England”s cake: Swann

London, May 18 (ANI): Beating Australia is always special, says England off-spinner Graeme Swann in an article for The Sun.

“Every time we beat them, our confidence grows that we can do it again and again,” Swann says.

“There is only one thing which could top the two incredible, emotional highs we have had in the past nine months. And, that is retaining The Ashes this winter in the Aussies” own backyard,” he adds.

“Winning the little urn last August and beating Australia in Sunday”s World Twenty20 final are the greatest moments of my career. To have experienced two feelings like that in less than a year is unbelievable. Now, we are all hungry for a third when we travel Down Under in November,” he says.

Describing the huge high the team felt after securing the title, the off-spinner said: “I have never moved so fast in my life. I am not the quickest across the ground, but I had smoke coming from my heels as we charged out to the middle. We chased Colly until we caught him and then were jumping up and down in a huddle and screaming like five-year-olds. You get punched and elbowed and everything but you do not care. Brilliant stuff.”

“The champagne was spraying in the dressing room and Jimmy Anderson poured a whole bottle down my back. Then we settled down for an hour or two, had a few beers, enjoyed each other”s company and contemplated what had just happened. It was a phenomenal feeling and very similar to The Oval last August,” he adds.

He makes a pointed distinction between the Ashes victory and the World Twenty20 win.

“It was not quite the same, because that was the result of a whole summer”s work, a release after all the ups and downs of the series. This was more a feeling of disbelief, the fact we had beaten the best team in the world with three overs to spare. That is a thumping in Twenty20,” he says.

He also said that he the England batters perform from the physio”s room.

“I am very superstitious and always sit there in Barbados. I have my lucky spot and I never left it,” Swann says.

“The atmosphere for the final was sensational. We were 5,000 miles from home but the ground was awash with flags of St George and the noise was deafening. It got everybody”s goose bumps up,” he concludes. (ANI)

T20 winning captain Collingwood back in team as regular trooper

London, May 18 (ANI): England’s Twenty20 World Cup winning captain Paul Collingwood will join the team as a regular player at Lord’s on Monday for the first Test against Bangladesh.

Collingwood will not even be the vice-captain of the England cricket team. Andrew Strauss will be back as skipper, with Alastair Cook his No. 2.

Strauss has not led England for four months. In that time England played in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh and the Caribbean, while he has been struggling to make early-season runs for Middlesex, The Sun reports.

“I don’t think Straussy will have trouble going back into the dressing room, despite not being part of this victory. He is our leader at the moment.

“Colly has become a lot more confident. He has led from the front with his attitude,” the paper quoted Flower, as saying.

Bangladesh on the other hand are confident that their captain Shakib Al Hasan will recover from chicken pox to face England in the first Test at Lord’s. (ANI)

Kaneria arrested on spot-fixing charges

London, May 15 (IANS) Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, who is playing for English county Essex, was arrested and later released on bail by Essex police following the police’s investigation into alleged spot-fixing in his team’s Pro40 match against Durham last September.

Essex’s young fast bowler Mervyn Westfield has also been arrested along with Kaneria.

‘Both men appeared at Brentwood police station Friday and were questioned under caution before being released on bail until Sept 15, pending further inquiries,’ said a report in Daily Telegraph.

As neither has yet been charged with any offence, both are free to continue playing cricket until then, by which time Pakistan will have completed their Test series against England. That should allow Pakistan’s selectors to at least pick Kaneria.

Essex police had wanted to interview Kaneria, 29, who has 58 Test caps for Pakistan, last Monday, three days after his return to England, but that was during Essex’s County Championship match with Kent and the club asked if that could be deferred until Friday. Every other Essex player, as well as the support staff, have been helping police with their inquiries.

Kaneria’s performance in the match against Durham is not under scrutiny, but he is thought to have introduced Westfield, whose performance against Durham is under the microscope, to an illegal bookmaker,’ the report claimed.

Westfield, 22, has been interviewed before by police, who confiscated his mobile phone. He conceded 60 runs in seven overs in the 40-over match against Durham, with four wides and two no-balls.

Essex police confirmed that their investigation, which began in March this year, followed allegations received. As these allegations are thought to have come from other players, it has made for an uncomfortable dressing room this season.

Spot-fixing is when small events in the game are fixed, such as a wide or a dropped catch.

‘It is thought to be the vehicle favoured by India’s illegal bookmakers to manipulate bets, in which millions of pounds are staked on the smallest shifts within a match, to their advantage,’ the report said.

Defending champions Pak raring to go against Oz in T20 WC semi-final

Islamabad, May 14 (ANI): Ahead of their semi-final clash with Australia in the World T20 Championship, Pakistani cricketers are fancying their chances of making it into the final of the tournament for the second consecutive time in a row, and are eagerly waiting for the match to be played today (Friday, May 14).

Speaking over telephone from St.Lucia, Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed said the mood in the dressing room is upbeat and players have vowed not to repeat their past mistakes.

“They (players) needed a bit of confidence and they got that with their victory against South Africa. Now the team has attained a level where it would not be easy for any side to beat us,” The News quoted Saeed, as saying.

“How we have reached the semis and how Australia has made it to the pre-final is immaterial now. Australia faces same challenges that we face. The better team would come out victorious,” he added.

Saeed said the Pakistan team have been closely watching videos of the match played against the Kangaroos earlier in the tournament, and have noted their mistakes.

“Players have watched the TV footage of the earlier match against the Aussies and realised where they were wrong. Every player has vowed not to repeat the same mistakes and play the match to the best of their abilities,” he said.

Another team official, who chose not to be named, said the defending champions have been busy chalking out strategies for the game from the last two days, and apart from some small issues everything has been finalized.

“There is only one place where there is a chance of making adjustments. Misbah-ul-Haq has not been able to get his hundred percent so far. Should he be dropped or there is a need for his readjustment is questions that needed an answer,” the official said. (ANI)

Umar Akmal doubtful for semi-final clash against Oz in T20 WC

St. Lucia (West Indies), May 14 (ANI): Young Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal is a doubtful starter for today’s World T20 Championship semi-final clash against Australia.

According to reports, Umar was taken to a local hospital here after he complained of back pain, and would be going through an MRI scan later.

Any final decision regarding Umar’s inclusion in the final eleven for the all important match against the Kangaroos would be taken after his MRI report comes, The News quoted sources in the Pakistani dressing room, as saying.

There are speculations that uncapped young batsman Hammad Azam may replace Umar, if he is declared unfit to play.

Umar’s absence could severely dent Pakistan’s hopes of playing in the final of the ICC World T20 Championship for the second consecutive time, as he has been in good form in the ongoing tournament.

He scored a brilliant 51 of 43 balls in the last Super Eight match against South Africa at the Beausejour Stadium here, which helped Pakistan register an easy 11 run win knocking the Proteas out from the tournament. (ANI)

Elizabeth Taylor says she’s ””””falling apart”””” to Julie Andrews

London, May 10 (ANI): Elizabeth Taylor was one of the stars who turned up to see her fellow Dame Julie Andrews perform at the 02 Arena in London.

And in the interval, Taylor, 78, greeted ‘The Sound of Music’ star, 74, in her dressing room.

“Dame Julie, how lovely to see you,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying with mock formality as they kissed.

“The pleasure is all mine, Dame Liz. And may I say how marvellous you are looking,” replied Andrews.

Taylor retorted with a laugh, saying: “Marvellous? Look at me. I am falling apart.”

She later said that she got delayed for the show as a car accompanying hers had got a flat tyre.

However, she was determined to see her old friend performing for the first time in the capital since an operation on her vocal chords in 1997.

“Julie is a fighter – I love that,” she said.

Although in poor health, she hummed along cheerfully to Andrews singing songs from Rogers and Hammerstein.

She admitted that she felt “too tired and weak” to undergo any further operations after submitting to more than 100 in the last 25 years. (ANI)

When a passer-by mistook Sir Ian McKellen for a tramp

London, May 7 (ANI): A passer-by mistook Sir Ian McKellen for a tramp and gave him a dollar.

The Lord of The Rings star, whose latest venture is ‘Waiting for Godot’, was taking a break from a dress rehearsal, when a kind passer-by took pity on him.

“I was crouched by the stage door of the Comedy Theatre, getting some air, my bowler hat at my feet.

Seeing an unkempt old man down on his luck, a passer-by said: “Need some help, brother?’ and put 1-dollar in my hat.”

“I hope the audiences will be as generous,” he laughed.

“The coin is now lodged between two drawing pins above my dressing room mirror. It’s going to be my lucky talisman for the tour,” The Daily Express quoted Sir Ian as saying. (ANI)

Dame Judi Dench spies on her theatre audiences to see their reaction

London, May 03 (ANI): Veteran actress Judi Dench spies on her theatre audiences to see their reactions to her performance.

The actress, who recently starred as Queen Titania in Peter Hall’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, admits that she likes to eavesdrop on theatre audiences to see how her performance is going down, reports the Daily Express.

“I can’t bear not to be in touch so I have the Tannoy turned right up in my dressing room as I like to be one up on everyone else,” Judi, 75, admits speaking on ITV1’s The South Bank Revisited.

“You can hear the audience’s reactions in the auditorium during a performance and you don’t get that on film or TV. I listen to the audience and then you know if you need to hit the accelerator or to push on the brake!” (ANI)

Flores delighted by Atletico’s surprise Europa run

If you had asked Spanish fans which of their sides would be the only one to reach a European final this season few would have picked Atletico Madrid.

Atletico, however, did just that as they progressed to the Europa League final on the away goals rule despite a 2-1 extra time loss to Liverpool in their semi-final second leg at Anfield on Thursday.

The 2-2 aggregate draw handed Atletico the chance of a first European trophy in almost 50 years while their more illustrious compatriots Barcelona and Real Madrid concentrate on the La Liga title after their Champions League exits.

Even Atletico manager Quique Sanchez Flores was surprised by his team’s achievement.

“No one would have expected it. It is an honour and a great sense of satisfaction to be the sole representative of Spain in Europe,” a glowing Flores told reporters at Anfield.

Atletico are 10th in La Liga after a dismal start to the season but they have negotiated their passage to the Europa final with just two victories from eight matches following their elimination from the Champions League group stages.

“I think I’ve not known too many better moments (in my career). Seeing where we have come from, we were pretty low earlier this season,” Flores said.

“I think we have done really well. Three big tests, Turkey, Lisbon and Valencia and we have replied well. Today we got stronger as the match went on and over the two legs I think we deserved to go through.”

A stronger second half to the season has left Atletico chasing a cup double.

They face English Premier League side Fulham in the Europa final on May 12th in Hamburg, Germany and Sevilla in next month’s King’s Cup final.

“I have no words to describe the atmosphere in the dressing room” Flores said. “They were like a bunch of school kids, they have so much pride to wear the shirt. The moment when we went over to the fans after the game was so special.”

The Spanish side will start as favourites against Fulham as they look to end a long wait for European success.

The Spaniard’s last continental trophy was the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1962, which they narrowly failed to defend the following year when they lost to Fulham’s city rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Creaking Barca give Real hope in title run-in

Pep Guardiola has 72 hours to repair the battered morale of his Barcelona side before resuming the defence of their La Liga title at Villarreal on Saturday (2000 GMT).

Barca top the standings with 87 points, just one ahead of Real Madrid with four games to go, and must bounce back quickly after being dumped out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage by Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan side on Wednesday.

“The players are down and sad but we have to pick ourselves up. On Saturday we have La Liga and we have to go out and win,” Guardiola said after their defence of the European Cup ended.

Barca’s aura of invincibility is slipping after winning six trophies last year and they only have the league left to focus on now.

They have a harder run-in than their arch-rivals Real, starting with a trip to a side who have a knack of making life difficult for them.

Unlike Inter or Espanyol, who build a wall in front of the goal, Villarreal have been effective at taking on Barca at their own game, winning five of their last seven meetings at the Madrigal.

The hosts have recovered since Juan Carlos Garrido replaced Ernesto Valverde as coach in February and have climbed back into contention for a place in Europe next season.

They lie sixth with 52 points in the Europa League qualification places, four behind fourth-placed Real Mallorca and the Champions League slots.

REASONS TO BELIEVE

Real will be relieved knowing Barca will not be playing the Champions League final at the Bernabeu, and have been given more reasons to believe the leaders could trip up before their own match at home to Osasuna on Sunday (1700).

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won all but one league match at the Bernabeu this season and are supremely confident Barca will stumble on the run in.

“We have a strong chance of winning the league,” Brazil midfielder Kaka told a news conference.

“The dressing room believes we can do it. One point isn’t much of a difference and we are confident we can overhaul Barca if we win all our remaining games.”

Kaka scored on his return from injury as a substitute last weekend and is likely to start against Osasuna with both Rafael van der Vaart and Raul out with injury.

On Sunday (1500), fifth-placed Sevilla receive Atletico Madrid in a dress rehearsal for next month’s King’s Cup final between the two sides.

Unseen Beatles photos go on display

London, April 28 (ANI): A collection of unseen photos of The Beatles just before they rose to fame is to go on display.

The 37 shots of the Fab Four on a tour with Helen Shapiro in 1963 were unearthed after languishing in an attic for almost 50 years.

Photographer/journalist Paul Berriff discovered the pics at his home in north England.

“I started to root around in my attic and I found this box of about 800 negs (negatives), and in it were shots of these old pop groups in ”63. I was absolutely knocked out when I saw the quality and realised I should do something with them,” the Daily Express quoted Berriff as saying.

Berriff took the pics after the boy band gave him unlimited access on tour when he was a teenage snapper – just months before Beatlemania gripped the world.

The photog had stored the negatives at his home, along with hundreds of other images of musicians in the 1960s.

The photos, which chronicle the band members rehearsing onstage, smoking in their dressing room, and relaxing with drinks and snacks backstage, will go on display at London”s Menier Gallery on Apr 28, (10). (ANI)
