Good if men sleep after sex

According to a recent study by evolutionary psychologists at the University of Michigan and Albright College in Pennsylvania, the tendency to fall asleep first after sex is associated with greater partner desire for bonding and affection.

“The mo

re one’s partner was likely to fall asleep after sex, the stronger the desire for bonding,” explains Daniel Kruger, research fellow at the University of Michigan, and lead author of the study.

The study, published in December in the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, examined 456 participants, who completed anonymous online surveys assessing experiences and desires with one’s partner after sex. Participants then indicated “who falls asleep after sex?” and “who falls asleep first when going to bed not after sex?”

Participants whose partners nodded off immediately after sex had stronger desires for post-coital cuddling and chatting.

The study also looked at who were more likely – men or women – to fall asleep first. Despite the common stereotype, the researchers did not find it more common for men to fall asleep first after sex. Women, however, were more likely to fall asleep first when sex hadn’t taken place.

“Perhaps men stay awake longer as an artifact of mate guarding – making sure the woman doesn’t leave them for another partner,” says Hughes. “Men may also stay awake longer in an attempt to entice their partner into having sex.”

Post-sex etiquette

1. When the climax is reached and ended, do not rush to do anything but stay close to your partner.
2. You can softly mention how much you enjoyed what was done, and how good you now feel. Even if it’s necessary, wait a few moments before leaving the bed for the bathroom.
3. Maintain body contact.
4. Enjoy more intimacy by embracing your partner and give (and receive) more mutual caresses.
5. Don’t immediately check your mobile phone for messages or missed calls.

Royal Wessanen nv: Durk Jager stepped down from the Supervisory Board

Royal Wessanen nv announces that Mr Durk Jager, Chairman of its Supervisory Board, has
resigned from the Board with immediate effect. Mr Frans Koffrie has taken up the
position of Chairman as from the end of business on 28 July 2010.
Mr Jager expressed his desire to resign for personal reasons.

The Supervisory Board and the Executive Board would like to take the opportunity to
thank Mr Jager for more than five years of service on the Supervisory Board. As Chairman
of the Board he contributed greatly to the discussions and decision-making of the
Supervisory Board, provided advice to the Executive Board and showed leadership when
this was required in more difficult times.

Mr Koffrie became a member of Wessanen’s Supervisory Board in 2001. In February 2009 he
stepped down to become interim-CEO of Wessanen, which position he held until 1 June of
this year when he was succeeded by Piet Hein Merckens. Per that same date Mr Koffrie was
re-appointed member of the Supervisory Board for a final term of four years. In
appointing him Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Wessanen does not follow the best
practice provision in the Dutch Corporate Governance Code which provides that the
chairman of a supervisory board may not be a former member of the executive board of the
company. The reasons for not applying this provision are that Mr Koffrie served as CEO
of the Company for a relatively brief period only and that his extensive experience in
leading large international companies makes him an excellent candidate to take up the
chair.

Russia Putin: compromise reached in steel price row

May 31 (Reuters) – Russian metal producers and industrials, such as car markers, have reached a compromise in a dispute over higher prices for steel products after government intervention, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Monday.

“There were heated discussions … agreement has been reached. It is essential to keep a tight control over all the factors of price growth,” Putin said.

“A one-time price hike of 25-30 percent falls outside normal economic logic. Behind such steps, there was the desire to claw back losses sustained during the crisis without thinking about the other market participants. That is very dangerous.”

He did not give details on prices or formulas which had been agreed for the long-term supply contracts.

Russia’s largest steel maker, Severstal (CHMF.MM) had asked for a 25 percent price hike for rolled steel products supplied to the country’s biggest carmaker AvtoVAZ (AVAZ.MM), but a source told Reuters on Friday the two sides had reached a compromise at 22 percent. Rooney perfect role model for England team: Capello

London, May 21(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello has hailed striker Wayne Rooney as the perfect role model for the Three Lions team.

Capello also believes that it is Rooney’s constant desire to improve his skills that is supporting the striker’s quest to be recognized as one of the world’s best players.

“Wayne Rooney is one of the best talents I have ever coached. He’s like Raul in that he is a very important player and a big talent. Every time Rooney trains he wants to stay on the training pitch for as long as possible,” The Daily Express quoted Capello, as saying.

Afghanistan wants to be designated a significant U.S. ally

Washington, May 12 (ANI): Visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his advisors are pressing the Obama administration to designate Afghanistan as a significant U.S. ally.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Afghan team is also pressing hard for a new security agreement.

The paper quoted a senior Afghan official as saying that both objectives reflect Karzai”s desire to use his visit to Washington to lay the groundwork for a closer, long-term security relationship with Washington.

Afghan officials are particularly interested in the “major non- NATO ally” designation, a status enjoyed by Japan, Australia, South Korea, Israel and other strategically important countries outside Europe.

The designation brings with it access to U.S. military technology and other benefits.

These issues are being discussed this week, but U.S. officials are cautious about the steps needed to significantly expand future U.S. security commitments.

No new agreements are considered likely as part of this week”s visit.

The senior Afghan official predicted a new agreement could be reached by the end of this year. (ANI)

Teen smokers fail to recognize early signs of nicotine dependence

Washington, May 4 (ANI): Teens, who have just started smoking occasionally, do not recognize the early symptoms of dependence, according to a new study.

Led by Dr. Chyke Doubeni, of the University of Massachusetts, the study found that among kids who have started smoking, “an urge to smoke or being irritable because they are not able to smoke is a sign of early dependence. But they don”t seem to recognize that symptoms such as irritability are harbingers of addiction.”

“Previous studies have already shown that there is a strong correlation between symptoms of nicotine dependence and nicotine addiction. This study shows that adolescents who start smoking, don”t appear to recognize the early signs of dependence,” said Doubeni.

Other signs of early dependence that go unnoticed include experiencing a desire to smoke or craving for a cigarette.

The study concluded that non-daily use of tobacco could trigger any of these early signs of dependence.

Early dependence promotes increased smoking, which in turn accelerates additional signs of dependence, which leads to even higher frequencies of smoking.

Eventually, it leads to addiction.

The conclusions are based on a study that surveyed adolescent smokers every three to four months, over a four-year period from 2002-2006.

The study found that over those four years, of the 370 subjects who had inhaled from a cigarette, 62pct smoked at least once per month, 52pct experienced dependence symptoms, and 40pct went on to become daily smokers.

The study was published in the latest issue of Pediatrics. (ANI)

“These shoes are two sizes too small, but God, it”s worth it,” the New York Post quoted Perry, as saying. (ANI)

Ferguson”s pep up talk boosts Man U”s title hopes

London, Apr 19 (ANI): Manchester United skipper Gary Neville has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson boosted the morale of the team by making players believe that they can still win the Premier League.

United had been written off after falling four points behind Chelsea, being knocked out of the Champions League, and then having to face their in-form rivals Manchester City.

But a winner from Paul Scholes against City has given United hope to win the Premier League.

“The manager asked us before the game: ”Do you want to win this title?” It may sound obvious, but the answer is yes, of course we do want to do that,” The Sun quoted Neville, as saying.

“We knew we had to go out and show our fans we have the pride and the desire to win matches – and to win the league,” he said.

“We”re not getting carried away because we still have three difficult games to go, starting with Tottenham next Saturday,” Neville said.

After Scholes” winner with just 17 seconds left at Eastlands and Chelsea losing at Spurs, United believe anything is possible.

“You saw Paul Scholes running 70 yards to get in the box and on the end of that cross. That wasn”t about experience, it was about desire,” Neville added. (ANI)

Federer crashes out in Miami

World number one Roger Federer was sent crashing out of the ATP Masters on Tuesday, dropping a 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (8-6) fourth round marathon match to Czech Tomas Berdych.

The reigning Australian Open champion suffered just his second loss to Berdych in 10 career meetings.

Berdych, the 16th seed, hammered six aces and won 67 per cent of his first service points in the two hour, 51 minute match on the hard courts at Crandon Park.

Federer won a succession of spectacular rallies to salvage the second set, but converted only two of 10 break-point chances in the match and committed 62 unforced errors, many on an unreliable backhand.

“I fought as much as I could,” Federer said.

“My game has issues at the moment. I’m definitely lacking timing. I don’t know where that comes from.

“It fuels my desire to go to the practice courts, because I don’t like to lose these type of matches.”

Federer held a match point at 6-5 in the second tiebreaker, but Berdych hit a forehand winner.

Two points later, Federer sailed a forehand long to give Berdych the win at 12.16am local time.

“After a match like that, the feeling is great,” Berdych said.

“I’m really happy the way I finish it.”

Peter Andre eyes ‘X Factor’ judge role

London, March 30 (ANI): Peter Andre has expressed his desire to be a judge on talent show ‘The X Factor’.

“My pal Dannii Minogue is in Australia at the moment filming Australia’s Got Talent, plus she’s now the face of Marks & Spencer,” the Mirror quoted the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer as telling New! Magazine.

“You look great in the ads, Dan! It’s so nice to see her doing well and it really is a well-deserved success.

“I’m hoping she returns to The X Factor after she’s had her baby. I think there’s a great combination on the judging panel and I hope they stick to it. Unless they want a 37-year-old fifth judge, of course,” he added. (ANI)

Dannii Minogue to be axed from ”The X Factor” due to pregnancy?

London, Mar 29 (ANI): Dannii Minogue”s pregnancy has put producer Simon Cowell in a fix as he cannot see how she will manage to perform as co-judge on ”The X Factor” with her baby due in the middle of auditions.

Cowell, 50, is said to be looking at ways to offer 38-year-old Minogue a scaled-back role on The X Factor when it returns in the autumn.

“Simon sees The X Factor as a programme that is constantly evolving and developing,” the Mirror quoted a senior show source as saying.

“He knows Dannii was a big part of the show”s success last year but he”s has been thinking about tinkering with the formula for some time.

“The only spanner in the works is that Dannii is now pregnant. Simon is acutely aware how this could play out in public.

“He doesn”t want to be seen as getting rid of Dannii because she”s pregnant but realistically he knows it will be impossible for her to do the whole show from the auditions through to the live finals.

“It”s a real dilemma but one option being considered is the possibility of giving Dannii a mentoring role on the show but not on the panel.

“Normally a decision like this would be taken much further down the line. But Dannii”s pregnancy means the question has to be addressed now,” the source stated.

Cowell himself has already voiced concerns about how Minogue could stay on the series.

“At the moment she”s having a baby in the middle of the show,” he stated.

Filming for the new series of ”The X Factor” begins in less than 10 weeks with the nationwide auditions.

By then Minogue, who has already revealed her intention to give birth in her native Australia, will be eight months pregnant.

And so far she has done little to make the move easy for Cowell, publicly stating her desire to return to The X Factor.

“If possible, I”d love to be a part of the live shows and fly the Team Minogue flag,” she had said.

A spokesman for Cowell added: “Nothing is definite at this stage. Lots of things are being discussed.” (ANI)

Webber plays down retirement speculation

Red Bull’s Mark Webber has denied he has any desire to quit Formula One, after former world champion Lewis Hamilton suggested the Australian veteran might be interested in bowing out on a high at the end of the season.

McLaren driver Hamilton was quoted on Wednesday as saying: “I don’t know how long he plans to stay in Formula One, but I get the sense that it’s one of those years he wants to finish on top and perhaps call it a day.”

“He has the best chance to end on that high this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is considering it.”

The 33-year-old Webber, who is bidding to become Australia’s first winner of its home Grand Prix on Sunday, said he was “very motivated, enjoying my job and looking forward to a great season”.

“I have no intention at all of retiring, give or take whatever season I have,” Webber said.

“So it’s Lewis’s opinion and he’s free to have that, so I don’t have a big problem with what he said.

“I’m very happy at the moment, enjoying driving for the guys that I am driving for, so it’s a very, very good situation for me at the moment.”

After stints with Minardi, Jaguar and Williams, Webber joined Red Bull in 2007 and broke through for his most successful season last year, picking up two victories among his eight podium finishes to end the year fourth in the drivers’ standings.
