Ancelotti set to axe Chelsea stars despite a booming season

London, Apr 24(ANI): Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he will axe some players from his club regardless of possible Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Ancelotti will bring in players from the academy, and is also expected to sign at least two new players, meaning a total of seven stars from the current crop may have to leave.

“The only sure thing will be that there will be five players from the academy in the squad next season. Some players will maybe move on. Some we will move,” The Sun quoted Ancelotti, as saying.

“It’s not because we don”t have the money. It’s because we want to give strength to our Academy. We have very good young players and this is the time to put them in the squad for next year. They are able to stay in Chelsea’s squad,” he added.

He further insists the Stamford Bridge fans will be delighted to see fresh blood coming through, especially if they start next season as champions.

“They’ll be happy if Chelsea win the title and the FA Cup. After that, I think they will see some new players in the future,” Ancelotti added.

According to reports, heading for the exit door are Hilario, Paulo Ferreira, Juliano Belletti and Deco.

Midfielders Joe Cole and Michael Ballack are yet to sign new deals and may be forced to find new clubs. (ANI)

Chelsea eyes Dutch playmaker Van der Vaart

London, Mar 24 (ANI): Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has been tracking Real Madrid’s 10 million pounds Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart for several months.

Talks with the representatives of the player have already begun about a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Ancelotti is keen to play Van der Vaart, 27, in his diamond midfield behind the two strikers.

The Dutch ace is widely regarded as one of the most creative players in Europe, but has been frozen out at Real, The Sun reports.

Chelsea is keen to finalise a deal before the World Cup finals as they fear Van der Vaart’s price will rocket if he does well.

With Deco destined to go home to Brazil next season, Ancelotti wants a reliable ball player to supply his strikers. (ANI)

Conditions right for Chelsea to try for Champions League glory: Ancelotti

London, Sep 14(ANI): Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti reckons that Chelsea will have Champions League glory this season, saying that they are ready to claim the only major championship which they have been missing by a whisker for the past six years.

“Chelsea have been in the semi-finals most in the last six years. They haven’t won it, but they have come very close. Two years ago, they were one penalty away from winning it. Now the conditions are right for us to try again,” The Sun quoted Ancelotti, as saying.

The 50-year-old further shrugged off a failed attempt to sign Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, and said: “We have players to fulfill that role. We’ve tried John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Deco. Pirlo can’t play like Mikel and Mikel can’t play like Pirlo.” (ANI)

Deco dreams of Chelsea’s Euro glory

London, Aug.28 (ANI): Portuguese star Deco reckons Chelsea is in perfect shape to become European champions.

He is insisting that coach Carlo Ancelotti has a squad capable of playing any system the manager wants.

The Blues have switched between a diamond formation at home and a 4-3-2-1 system on their travels.

The Sun quoted Deco, 32, as saying: “We know Carlo played this diamond system in Milan many years and we have good players to play in this system. We have great midfielders and this system gives the option to play well.” (ANI)

Deco to leave Chelsea

London, June 28 (ANI): Chelsea midfielder Deco has confirmed that he wants to leave ‘the Blues’, following his differences with decisions taken by club owner Roman Abramovich.

“Chelsea is kind of his (Roman Abramovich) toy. Sometimes Abramovich makes decisions that go over the head of the director of football,” The Sun quoted Deco, as saying.

The Portuguese star also criticised Chelsea for chucking Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“The exit of Big Phil was rash. Chelsea is a special club. . If Big Phil was perhaps at Manchester United or Liverpool, they respect the coach and give him time to work. But Chelsea is different,” said Deco.

“Honestly, I did not like the experience at Chelsea. I’m looking for another club where I can feel good,” he added. (ANI)

Hiddink warns Chelsea stars to play for their future

London, May 5 (ANI): Guus Hiddink has warned his Chelsea stars that they are playing for their future, and insisted that he will not be hoodwinked by one decent game even if it against Barcelona tomorrow.

At least six big names of the club are under the spotlight with Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda, Salomon Kalou and Deco most at risk. Chelsea plan to sell this summer to fund new signings, while other contracts will not be renewed.

Even though boss Hiddink may not be staying beyond the end of this month, he will have a big say on who remains at Stamford Bridge, The Sun reports.

The Dutchman meets with owner Roman Abramovich over the next two weeks and the Blues’ performance against Barca in their Champions League semi-final second leg is bound to influence his decision.

“There are, in many clubs, some players who start playing very well in April and May as they know that decisions will be made at the end of the season. You can see that in the whole history of the game. All of a sudden, you see players coming up in these times.

“But, generally speaking, even if players’ contracts are expiring, at a big club you must have this responsibility to deliver. I can have an influence on these players. Not on the people who decide in this club – but I will always make suggestions,” Hiddink said.

Chelsea, who also have the FA Cup final with Everton on the horizon, believe Anelka, Malouda, Kalou and Deco are the most saleable players – as well as being dispensable.

Anelka is the club’s top league scorer but, with Didier Drogba returning to form and fitness, his place in the team is no longer guaranteed. (ANI)

Chelsea football star Deco’s son battling a life threatening illness

London, Feb.23 (ANI): Chelsea star Deco’s toddler son is battling a life-threatening illness.

According to The Sun, the midfielder has been told that his son David Luiz has a rare condition that weakens his immune system.

Doctors conducted tests on the youngster when he was rushed into intensive care with a fever while on holiday in Brazil with his mum.

Now, they have told Deco, 31, and his estranged wife Jaciara Diaz, 32, their son will need a painful bone marrow transplant in three or four years’ time unless his condition improves.

The Brazilian-born footballer has been making dozens of long-distance phone calls for updates on his son’s health.

Ex-model Jaciara, who split with Deco in March last year, said: “The doctors tell us that for now a bone-marrow transplant is not necessary.

“But when he is five or six, we’ll probably have to deal with it. I have to be vigilant all the time. I never know when he’s going to suffer a setback.”

Jaciara and both her children by Deco – David Luiz and daughter Yasmin, five, – now live in Barcelona but were on holiday in the coastal city of Salvador when the tot fell ill last month.

Now Jaciara is hoping he will be well enough to fly back to Spain next week after doctors complete their checks. (ANI)

Chelsea must stop sobbing and get on with it: Lampard

London, Jan.16 (ANI): Frank Lampard has urged Chelsea’s whining stars to stop crying – and get on with the job.
“The manager going public with his criticism is not a problem. If you want to cry just because the manager says you are playing below par, you need to look at yourself. We are all men and just have to accept it,” The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.
He was referring to coach Scolari blast at his star-studded squad before Wednesday’s third-round replay and it was not hard to pick out Drogba, Deco, Nicolas Anelka and Michael Ballack were his prime targets.

But Lamps admits Chelsea’s squad all knew they needed a kick up the backside.

Full back Cole said: “A lot of people were trying to blame the manager – which was wrong. We were the ones letting down the fans and the manager. We have let players go and conceded goals. We have to get rid of the mistakes if we are to push on and win more.” (ANI)
