I made martinis for my dad at age 6: Gwyneth Paltrow

London, May 21 (ANI): Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she used to mix martinis for her dad at the age of six, and that she enjoys drinking the odd cocktail herself.

Paltrow, 37, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, told of her drink-mixing skills as she took part in a British TV cookery show.

“I love a dirty martini. I used to make my dad his drinks when I was about six!” the Sun quoted her as saying.

She also revealed that she has been cooking “seriously” for 15 years. (ANI)

M&S model Lenoir ”attempted suicide after footballer Makelele dashed her reconciliation hopes’

London, May 15 (ANI): Marks & Spencers model Noemie Lenoir attempted suicide because footballer Claude Makelele told her that their relationship was over, it has emerged.

The beauty was found unconscious in the woods outside the French soccer star’s Paris home following drugs binge.

Lenoir had cocktail of dugs and alcohol after Makelele ended her hope of reconciliation saying, they had no future together.

The former couple, who have a five-year-old son, Kelyan, together, had parted ways last year.

Lenoir had been dating Swiss millionaire Carl Hirschmann, but pals suggest she could never really get over Makelele, 37.

“Claude and Noemie’s relationship is known in France as une histoire d’amour – a love story and a sad one. To us they are like the Beckhams, huge stars,” the Mirror quoted a pal of Makelele, as saying.

The friend added: “Noemi is one of the most beautiful women in France. Claude is the love of her life. She has dated other men, but none compare to him – he’s the father of their child, after all.

“He has been seeing other women, she’s known this, but there is one in particular he is very keen on and Noemie is devastated.

“She has always said she wanted to marry him. But they get back together, split, then get back together again.

“Now he has this new woman he has told her in no uncertain terms it’s over. She wanted to make a point with Claude that she is still in love with him, and that’s why she went to his house to attempt suicide.”

Also, a close friend added: “Noemie has been spiralling into depression in recent months – she has been having a crisis about turning 30, not being married and she has a fear that she’ll always be alone. When she woke up on Sunday she was terribly depressed and carried on drinking. She decided her only option was to kill herself.”

Meanwhile, Swiss millionaire Hirschmann, who is presently accused in a sex and extortion scandal in Zurich, has reportedly dumped her too. (ANI)

Alexander McQueen took cocktail of drugs before hanging himself

London, Apr 29 (ANI): An inquest into fashion designer Alexander McQueen’s death has heard that he took a cocktail of drugs and slashed his wrists before hanging himself.

The 40-year-old designer committed suicide on the eve of his mother’s funeral, reports The Daily Express.

The final hours of his life were laid bare at the hearing where it was revealed that the millionaire designer first took a potentially lethal combination of cocaine, sleeping pills and tranquilizers.

He then collected a ceremonial dagger, meat cleaver and kitchen knife to end his life.

But after suffering several superficial self-inflicted wounds he used his belt to hang himself at his home in London’s Mayfair.

Recording a verdict of suicide, coroner Dr Paul Knapman ruled McQueen had “killed himself while the balance of his mind was disturbed”.

His family said afterwards: “We will continue to make every effort to keep his memory alive.” (ANI)

Pregnant Dannii Minogue launches new clothing range

London, April 28(ANI): Dannii Minogue, who is expecting a child soon, has launched a new range of clothing in collaboration with designer Tabitha Somerset-Webb.

The singer said that pregnancy had “opened her mind” to more creative ideas.

The range tagged Project D, includes a sequinned evening dress from the “luxury” collection.

Apparently, Minogue’s design needed no alteration for her new fuller figure.

“This one”s stretched sequin thankfully so it goes over the bump,” the Telegraph quoted her as telling.

She added: “Being pregnant has completely opened my mind to having to really try different shapes and things I haven”t worn before.

“You”ve got to dress cleverly around it but I”ve managed to get into my dresses without any alterations.”

Project D includes day dresses, cocktail chic and red-carpet-ready dresses.

Minogue added: “Fashion has been a passion of mine since I can remember and I hope that every woman who slips on a Project D dress will feel glamorous yet effortless.

“Our philosophy is to make feeling confident with your wardrobe easy. We will do the hard work and get the details on the dresses right, so all you have to do is enjoy them.

“To me a dress design never comes to life till it is slipped on – who knows what adventures the dresses in this collection will get up to?”

The clothing range will hit stores in June. (ANI)

Sydney pubs luring young women with cheap shot deals

Melbourne, April 4 (ANI): Sydney bars are openly flouting liquor laws by trying to attract young women with offers of free champagne and 3-dollar shots.

On the eve of Good Friday nearly 10 bars were offering free shots, 3-dollar glasses of champagne and two-for-one cocktail deals.

However, these Easter specials have angered hospital authorities who have had to deal with trauma from alcohol-related violence.

“If there’s lots of alcohol being given out freely or people are being allowed to get trays of 10 drinks … that’s wrong,” the Daily Telegraph quoted St Vincent’s Hospital head of emergency Gordian Fulde, as saying.

Fulde added: “We’re really stupid drinkers and we’re stupid in as far as we drink far too much, too quickly.

“I believe the community themselves shouldn’t want to get drunk all the time … the people serving the alcohol by law should not be allowing people to buy or get alcohol so they get into a drunken state.

“The publican in the first instance really has to have a look at that.”

High discounts, two-for-the-price-of-one offers and a time frame for discounted drinks of more than two hours are all considered “unacceptable” in the liquor activity assessment guide released by the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR).

OLGR spokesman Mark Nolan said they would come down heavily on pubs and clubs which did not promote sensible drinking behaviour.

He added: “OLGR has the power to ban irresponsible liquor promotions which lead to rapid and excessive consumption and alcohol-related violence and antisocial behaviour.

“The licensee has been reminded of his obligations to ensure the responsible service and consumption of alcohol.

“OLGR will continue to monitor promotions and liquor law compliance at the venue.” (ANI)

Brit woman thinks she has finally found Mr. Right in sixth hubby!

London, Sep 11 (ANI): A Brit woman, who has spent 31-years looking for Mr Right, thinks that she has finally found him in her sixth husband.

Lady Rosemaris Chanie-Cridge, 50, a former dancer and actress, saw her five previous marriages last between 18 months and ten years, with her choices ranging from a wealthy property developer to a Texan Marine named Butch Gayheart.

Now, Lady Rosemaris, who has kids Sabrina, 23, Krystle, 24, and 14-year-old Joshua by two different men, says that she has found her true love in plumber Gary Cridge, 40, who she met last year when he came to fix her washing machine.

“I really have found my Mr Right after all these years. Each time I thought the marriage was going to last. I said my vows with sincerity,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

She met her first husband, 25-year-old Michael Robins, at the age of 17 and they wed two years later.

“He was extremely attractive, I fell in love immediately,” she said.

They had a church wedding in Ealing, West London, in 1978, but the marriage broke down after two years.

“I was devastated – I thought that marriage was for life. My parents split up when I was three. I became obsessed with the idea that my marriage would be different,” she said.

She then wed former Marine Harry ‘Butch’ Gayheart, 25, in 1983 but split after two years.

“He proposed after a month. He was so romantic and seemed to offer the love I craved,” she recalled.

Property developer Gordon O’Shea, 40, became her third husband, but the marriage did not last when he decided to give his money away and go to Africa to work as a missionary.

They divorced in 1989 after 18 months of marriage.

Lady Rosemaris met Goran Koroliga at a cocktail party in LA and they wed in 1990, but split after two years.

Her fifth marriage, to Max Jesson in 1997, lasted a decade and left her “absolutely devastated” when it ended.

But Lady Rosemaris, of Banstead, Surrey, believes her new love will last forever after marrying Gary in May.

“I told him about my past. A lot of men would have felt intimidated, but it didn’t matter to him,” she said.

“When I said my vows, they seemed extra special. I always knew true love was out there. I’ve finally found the man of my dreams,” she added. (ANI)

Killer whales have to raise their voices to be heard over ship noise

Washington, September 11 (ANI): A new research has determined that killer whales have to raise their voices to be heard over ship noise, and the effort may be wearing the whales out as they try to find food amid dwindling numbers of salmon.

According to a report in National Geographic News, scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) carried out the research.

The research indicates that the killer whales of Puget Sound, a complex of inland marine waterways in the northwestern part of Washington, US, make more calls and clicks while foraging than while traveling, suggesting that such mealtime conservations are key to coordinating hunts.

“(The killer whales’) call exchange is incredibly important, and vessel noises have the potential to mask these calls,” said research leader Marla Holt of Seattle’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center, which is run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Holt and colleagues’ previous research had shown that some killer whales make louder calls to be heard over vessel rumblings-just as people raise their voices to talk over the din of a cocktail party.

Now, the researchers think the cacophony could be causing the region’s killer whales to use up more energy during hunts, even as their preferred prey, chinook salmon, are on the decline.

In Puget Sound, a small group of killer whales known as the Southern Residents has been found to be particularly well-suited to eating salmon-even down to the whales’ tooth size.

These animals don’t eat seals or other mammals, as do the transient killer whales that migrate through the sound.

In the mid- to late 1990s, the Southern Resident population mysteriously shrank by nearly 20 percent, from 97 to 88 animals. Today, there are 85 individuals.

In 2005, the federal government listed the population as endangered under the US Endangered Species Act.

No one knows for sure, but the cause was likely a combination of fewer salmon, exposure to toxic contaminants, and vessel noise, according to Lynne Barre of NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service Northwest Regional Office.

Holt’s work adds to existing data that have already prompted NOAA to propose a new killer whale protection law that would make all boats keep at least 600 feet (200 yards) away from the animals around Washington State.

The existing law allows boats to approach as close as 300 feet (100 yards), and some research has shown this influences the whales’ behavior.

“A lot of people would argue, Why focus on these vessel regulations?” Holt said. “But it’s one thing we can do immediately,” he added. (ANI)

Polish vodka, Cuban cigars and Uma Thurman for Warne’s 40th birthday

Melbourne, Sep 10 (ANI): Australian spin legend Shane Warne will celebrate his 40th birthday with 200 mates, a bottle of Polish vodka, a Cuban cigar – and possibly Hollywood actress Uma Thurman.

Warne turns 40 on Sunday.

Speculation mounted on Wednesday that the Hollywood superstar of Kill Bill fame will join the 200-strong invitation list including Sam Newman, Garry Lyon, Eddie McGuire, Jeff Fenech, poker ace Jo Hachem and a host of business leaders and media chiefs.

Ex-wife Simone Callahan will also be there in the latest sign their roller coaster romance is back on track.

Cricket legends Allan Border and Ian Chappell have been invited, but Steve Waugh and Adam Gilchrist are not on the list.

Best mate Aaron Hamill, who played for Warne’s beloved Saints, will lead the AFL contingent.

Warne has booked a ritzy Chapel St cocktail lounge for tomorrow night’s bumper bash. And the party is tipped to extend well into the early hours of Saturday morning thanks to a 7 a.m. liquor licence, the Daily Telegraph reports.

It is believed Warne’s only request to venue management was for a regular flow of his preferred drink of choice – “Belevedere vodka and Red Bull”-and somewhere to enjoy a celebratory smoke.

On offer are 1500 dollars bottles of French champagne and a range of pricey seafood and Asian dishes, but no baked beans or pizza. (ANI)

George Clooney’s ex Sara Larson turns private yoga instructor

Washington, Sep 8 (ANI): Former Las Vegas cocktail waitress Sara Larson, who dated actor George Clooney in 2007, has turned into a private yoga instructor in Los Angeles.

There had been rumours earlier this year of Larson having her own Vegas-based reality show in the works, but it seems she has opted for a more spiritually satisfying lifestyle.

“I do yoga pretty much every day. I am a certified yoga instructor, so I actually teach yoga,” Fox News quoted Larson as saying at the recent Reality Cares’ Sizzles Charity Benefit in Los Angeles.

She also revealed that “all of a sudden” guys have started calling out of nowhere for private classes, and she’s now in talks to design her own yoga-inspired clothing line.

Larson, who has found herself a new love, says she doesn’t give a hoot about her ex’s romantic relations.

“Dating has its challenges and either two people connect or they don’t,” she said.

“There’s a lot of other factors that are involved as to whether it will be a long-term relationship or not, but everything for me right now is new.

“I’m not in touch with George at all. I don’t have any regrets,” she added. (ANI)

MJ’s brother’s fury over ‘secret’ burial filming

London, September 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brother Randy has slammed the “surreptitious” filming of the burial of the late star in Los Angeles.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ singer reacted after a camera kept filming the private ceremony at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park on a hovering helicopter despite the area being a no-fly zone.

“I was dismayed last night and again today at the coverage I saw on television of our ceremony for Michael,” the BBC quoted him as saying.

“We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight.

“Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organisations decided to ignore our wishes.

“I therefore ask today that media organisations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future,” he added.

The King of Pop was finally laid to rest after he died of a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs on June 25.

The Los Angeles coroner ruled Jackson’s death as homicide. (ANI)

Family wants justice, insists MJ’s dad

London, Sept 1 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s father Joe in his first public statement after the singer’s death was declared a homicide, has demanded justice.

The senior Jackson’s statement comes after the Los Angeles’ County Coroner declared that the King of Pop was killed by a cocktail of strong prescription drugs – Propofol and Lorazepam.

The corner’s ruling could put MJ’s physician Dr Conrad Murray in a tight spot.owever, Joe has refused to say anything about the role of the doc.

The Daily Star quoted him as telling U.S. TV’s the Today show: “I keep thinking, I just cant believe this happened to him… I’m not angry, I’m mad. I’m mad because I didn’t know all of this was going on, that’s what I’m mad about. I didn’t know he was taking that type of medication. They (the family) want justice to be done and that’s what is being done. I don’t know (if that means criminal charges).

“It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of the drug. That tells me that was foul play, that’s what it tells me and (there is) more to be investigated to see what was behind all of this stuff, not just Dr. Conrad Murray. Someone should pay. Not just someone, but all of them should pay that’s (sic) involved. I didn’t say doctors – everybody else that’s involved.”

Novel method to make safer human stem cells uses just one gene

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Inching closer to curing diseases like Parkinson’s using cells generated from a patient’s own body, researchers have successfully reprogrammed human nerve cells back to an embryo-like state by using just a single gene.

It is known that embryonic stem cells are pluripotent – they can develop into any of the body’s cell types.

But such cells are not available in large numbers, as they can only be harvested from a donated egg or embryo, and, for ethical reasons, most countries have laws restricting their use.

In 2006, Shinya Yamanaka and his colleagues at Kyoto University in Japan successfully made mouse cells pluripotent by reprogramming skin cells into a state like embryo cells.

They did so by using retroviruses to insert four genes – known as “factors” – into the cells’ DNA.

They repeated the trick a year later with human cells.

However, using genes and retroviruses in this way increases the risk of the cell becoming cancerous, not just because tinkering with DNA has that effect, but also because two of the four factors are known to cause cancer.

In a bid to make these promising cells in a safe way, Hans Scholer’s team at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany, has been working to achieve pluripotency using fewer factors.

Last year, they did this with the two factors that do not cause cancer, and now they have simplified the recipe further, doing it with just one.

“Remarkably, it turns out that three of these four essential factors are already expressed in human neural stem cells – although not in skin cells – so we only needed to add one factor, OCT4,” New Scientist quoted Boris Greber, a member of the team, as saying.

He said that the cells from neural tissue are much easier to reprogram than skin cells, and are less prone to mutations.

It is much harder to get a sample of neural stem cells than skin cells, as it can be done via extracting the cells from the dental pulp of teeth, said Greber.

Inserting even one gene into the chromosome of a cell still permanently modifies its DNA, which is why the new method will remain a lab tool instead of being allowed in the clinic.

However, the researchers are hoping that it will help them improve methods for producing embryonic stem cells.

“Ideally, we will be able to find a chemical that does the same job of expressing the factor without the need for a gene,” said Greber.

Earlier this year, researchers in California managed just that when they reprogrammed mouse fibroblasts using a cocktail of proteins.

That technique did not involve inserting genes, and, thus, shouldn’t raise the cancer risk. But that was far less efficient.

“Without stable intervention using viruses, the frequency of reprogramming goes down and you have to wait a long time. We don’t have the perfect method yet,” said Greber.

The study has been published in the journal Nature. (ANI)

MJ’s death ruled as homicide

London, August 29 (ANI): The Los Angeles Country Coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death as homicide caused by acute intoxication from powerful anaesthetic propofol and other conditions.

Propofol and the sedative lorazepam were concluded as the primary drugs responsible for Jackson’s death in the coroner’s report.

Other cocktail of sedatives, painkillers and stimulant found in the singer’s system were midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine, reports the Telegraph.

It is the first time Jackson’s death has been officially concluded homicide while the complete toxicology report remains sealed at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Detectives have been probing the circumstances leading to death of the King of Pop, who died aged 50 on June 25 from a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles mansion.

Officials have quizzed Jackson’s team of doctors as part of the investigation and the star’s personal physician Conrad Murray has been at the centre of a manslaughter probe. (ANI)

‘Toxic cocktail’ in tunnels can increase air pollution levels by up to 1,000 times

Washington, August 28 (ANI): A new study has found that a toxic cocktail of ultrafine particles, which is lurking inside road tunnels, can increase air pollution levels by up to 1,000 times, enough to harm drivers and passengers.

The study measured ultrafine particle concentration levels outside a vehicle travelling through the M5 East tunnel in Sydney.

According to study co-author and director of Queensland University of Technology’s International Laboratory for Air Quality and Health, Professor Lidia Morawska, road tunnels were locations where maximum exposure to dangerous ultrafine particles in addition to other pollutants occurred.

“The human health effects of exposure to ultrafine particles produced by fuel combustion are generally regarded as detrimental,” Professor Morawska said.

“Effects can range from minor respiratory problems in healthy people, to acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) in people with existing heart complaints,” she added.

Professor Morawska said the study involved more than 300 trips through the four kilometres of the M5 East tunnel, with journeys lasting up to 26 minutes, depending on traffic congestion.

“What this study aimed to do was identify the concentration levels found in the tunnel. It generated a huge body of data on the concentrations and the results show that, at times, the levels are up to 1000 times higher than in urban ambient conditions,” she said.

She said that drivers and occupants of new vehicles which had their windows closed were safer than people travelling in older vehicles.

“People who are driving older vehicles which are inferior in terms of tightness and also those riding motorcycles or driving convertibles, these people are exposed to incredibly high concentrations,” she said.

“When compared with similar studies reported previously, the measurements here were among the highest recorded concentrations,” she added.

Professor Morawska said that tunnels were becoming an increasingly necessary infrastructure component in many cities across the world.

“When governments are building tunnels for urban design reasons, they should also consider the impact these tunnels are having on the environment and to people’s health,” she said.

“The study highlights why governments need to consider how they are going to deal with the air pollution levels inside the tunnel and removal of ultrafine particles in the outside environment,” she added. (ANI)

Jackson popped 55 different pills everyday

London, July 12 (ANI): Late Michael Jackson had been popping a total of 55 different pills everyday in his final six months, according to reports.

The news came in line with the announcement that results of drug tests on the ‘Thriller’ singer’s brain and blood will be delayed further.

The decision was made after 28 prescription medicines were found at his rented mansion in LA, reports the Daily Star.

Drug Enforcement Agency officers have found dozens of bottles, boxes and bags of pills while searching the property in Holmby Hills where Jackson died.

Among other drugs they seized the highly dangerous surgical anaesthetic Propofol, which is legally available only to hospital patients and is administered via intravenous injection.

Propofol comes under the list of drugs found under the trade name Diprivan.

According to experts, without proper monitoring, the drug could lead to cardiac arrest -which ultimately caused Jackson’s death.

One LA-based doctor described the astonishing cache of drugs as a “guaranteed cocktail of death”.

It included the potent painkillers Demerol and OxyContin. (ANI)

Jackson’s death reopens old wounds for Heath Ledger’s family

Melbourne, July 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s death has opened some old wounds for Heath Ledger’s family, especially his father Kim.

Ledger died from an overdose of prescription drugs while battling insomnia and the flu and Jackson died of a suspected cardiac arrest, believed to have been caused by a cocktail of prescription drugs.

Kim insists that Jackson’s drug-related death has hit too close to home.

He said the similarities between Heath and Jackson’s death had left his family reeling.

“On the day Michael died I spoke to my daughters and former wife Sally and we all had such a down day,” Herald Sun quoted Kim as telling Woman’s Day.

“At the end of the day, we’re all responsible for what goes into us and I blame Heath for not being responsible,” he added. (ANI)

Jacko’s dad not ready to release funeral information

Washington, June 30(ANI): Michael Jackson’s father Joe has said that information regarding the funeral of his legendary son will be provided only after the result of the second autopsy is out.

“We aren’t ready for [releasing information on the funeral]. We don’t have the time frame yet because we want to see when the private autopsy comes out,” Fox News quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, Michael Jackson’s personal doctor has denied that he gave a shot of potent painkiller Demerol before the star collapsed in his home.

Jacko ‘took morphine overdose’ after infamous Bashir interview

London, June 29 (ANI): Michael Jackson nearly died after taking a morphine overdose following his infamous interview with British journalist Martin Bashir, a doctor who treated him has claimed.

Bashir spent eight months interviewing the King of Pop at his Neverland ranch for the controversial TV special Living With Michael Jackson.

The broadcast showed Jackson’s confession of offering his bed to child friends, which later led to sexual abuse charges against the late icon for which he was found not guilty.

A doctor, who was treating Jackson’s brother Randy, alleged that the Thriller hitmaker landed himself in danger after he worked himself up into a “frenzy of anxiety” over a TV interview and collapsed in 2003.

“His frame was light but not severely malnourished. He probably weighed about 11 stone,” the Daily Star quoted the expert as having told Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper.

“Randy said Michael had been under severe stress because of the television programme which had aired that night.

“I recall him saying that an earlier TV documentary had caused all manner of problems and that Michael had worked himself into a frenzy of anxiety over this one,” he added.

The doctor further said that he warned the family against the singer’s addiction problems, saying: “I was deeply disturbed by the event. I told Randy that his brother should voluntarily go to a rehabilitation centre to deal with his obvious addiction problem… I wanted to discuss with Michael directly the damage he was doing to his health and the very real concerns I had for his well-being. I never heard from any of them again.”

Prescription drugs’ role in Jacko’s death being probed

Washington, June 28 (ANI): Investigators probing into the cause of Michael Jackson’s death are trying to determine whether or not prescription drugs may have played a role.

The L.A. coroner says that it will take weeks to confirm the cause of death.

However, still, some newspapers have cited unnamed sources and declared that the Thriller’ star took a daily cocktail of narcotics, including Demerol, Dilaudid, Vicodin, Zanax and Paxil.

A pharmacy in Beverly Hills sued Jackson two years ago, claiming the entertainer owed more than $100,000 for prescription drugs.

J. Randy Taraborelli, a biographer, said that family and friends concerned for years.

“It’s been a long, ongoing problem,” CBS News quoted Taraborelli as saying.

The online report says that cops want to interrogate Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal doctor, about the singer’s drug use.

Dr. Murry was with Jackson when the singer collapsed, and he is the doctor mentioned in the 911 call. (ANI)

Michael Jackson’s body released to there family

Michael Jackson’s body has been released to his family amid reports that the singer was regularly taking a cocktail of prescription drugs.

His body was taken to a mortuary late on Friday night at the request of the Jackson family who have yet to confirm their plans for the 50-year-old’s funeral.

Jackson was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness but before his death there were reports he had secretly converted to Islam. According to Muslim funeral custom the body is usually buried within days of the death.

Police and coroner’s officials are now examining the role prescription drugs may have played in Jackson’s death as it was reported that he was injected with the powerful painkiller Demerol shortly before he fell ill.

Entertainment news website TMZ reported that the singer received the shot at 11.30am the day of his death and The Sun said he was taking a cocktail of painkillers and other drugs.

Jackson was taking Dilaudid and Vicodin for problems with pain, Soma, a muscle relaxant, Xanax, a sedative, Zoloft and Paxil, anti-depressants and Prilosec for heartburn, said the newspaper.

Officers now want to speak to Dr Conrad Murray, a cardiologist who practices in California, Nevada and Texas. He will now be questioned further by detectives and his car was seized from outside Jackson’s house in case it contained drugs or other evidence.

Charlie Beck, assistant police chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, said it was “way too early” to draw any conclusions about the singer’s death.

He said officers spoke to Dr Murray immediately after Jackson’s death but now wanted to carry out “an extensive follow-up interview”.
