Chelsea Clinton flashes engagement ring at Broadway”s ”Promises, Promises”

New York, April 27 (ANI): Former U.S. First Daughter Chelsea Clinton flashed her sizeable diamond engagement ring from Marc Mezvinsky for the first time at the opening night of Broadway”s “Promises, Promises.”

The 30-year-old bride-to-be arrived at the musical on crutches having broken her heel earlier this month, reports the New York Daily News.

She is expected to shed her cast in time to marry her investment banker beau this summer.

Clinton has not revealed the venue for the impending marriage.

However, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told CNN in December that the wedding would be intimate.

“It will be a private affair. It will be for [Chelsea''s] close friends and that”s the way it should be,” she said. (ANI)

Chelsea Clinton may have to limp up the aisle

New York, Apr 16 (ANI): Former US President Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea has broken her foot and has no idea how it happened.

The former first daughter has a plastic cast on her right leg.

And she’s been telling friends she went to her doctor after feeling increasing pain and learned she’d broken her heel, reports The New York Post.

It is believed that Chelsea would be off her crutches well before her wedding in July.

Meanwhile, her injury has not dampened her spirits-she was spotted around town with fiance Marc Mezvinsky and she’s even continued classes at the Soul Cycle spin studio. (ANI)

Chelsea Clinton’s nuptials on Chappaquiddick Island denied

New York, Sep 1 (ANI): Former US First Daughter Chelsea Clinton has been revealed to be nowhere close to tying the knot with her fiance, Marc Mezvinsky, even though rumours have stated otherwise.

When pictures of a big wedding stage being built on Chappaquiddick Island off Martha’s Vineyard emerged, it was automatically assumed that Clinton, 29, would be getting married.

But Clinton’s spokesman Matt McKenna, who’s been denying the purported union for months, said that he’d wager 1,000 dollars it’s not on.

“I know this spot on Chappy very well, and I know the two brides who will get married there this coming weekend (on different days — not to each other),” the New York Post quoted Democrat Serena Torrey Roosevelt as writing on Facebook.

“Neither of them is Chelsea,” she added. (ANI)

Obama may be surprise guest at Chelsea Clinton’s Martha’s Vineyard wedding

Washington, Aug.22 (ANI): Chelsea Clinton may get married at Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday and rumors are in circulation that President Obama could be the surprise guest.

According to The Times, while official denials of the happy event are strenuous, locals are insisting that the wedding will bring together a mix of celebrities and power brokers – including the Obama, Clinton and Kennedy families – in a major gathering of the Democratic Party establishment.

Obama is officially due to arrive on the island known as The Rock tomorrow for a weeklong holiday with his wife and daughters. But Michelle Obama and the Obama girls, Sasha and Malia, are apparently already here.

According to one source, they took a cruise this week in the schooner Alabama, which is for hire from a local harbour.

Obama’s official schedule called for him to fly from Washington to Camp David last night. The White House told the Vineyard Gazette that he and his family would fly to Otis air force base, on nearby Cape Cod, on Sunday aboard Air Force One and transfer to Vineyard by helicopter.

But islanders expect Obama to arrive early so that he can attend the wedding, said to be taking place on a secluded estate near where the Obamas are staying.

One elected official said that the Secret Service was increasing its presence from 120 yesterday to a full complement of 180 today in preparation for the nuptials.

“They will have a president and a former president,” the official said.

Another resident claimed that Chelsea Clinton’s wedding was the real reason why the Obamas had chosen to spend their summer holiday on Martha’s Vineyard, a Democratic bastion often derided as elitist.

Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State and former First Lady, has flatly denied reports that Chelsea, 29, is getting married this weekend to the Goldman Sachs investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, 31, the son of two former members of Congress.

But locals in Martha’s Vineyard say preparations have been under way for months for the wedding, to be held at the home of Cheers TV star Ted Danson and his actress wife Mary Steenburgen. (ANI)

New York Times’ Carlos Slim romancing Queen Noor of Jordan?

New York, Jul 9 (ANI): Mexican businessman Carlos Slim is rumoured to be romancing Queen Noor of Jordan.

The claim made by culture blog transracial.net, says Slim, 69, “has been involved in a golden-years romance” with the 57-year-old Jordanian royal.

“She visits [Mexico City] often, is said to be studying Spanish, stays in the hip Hotel Condesa and they either rendezvous at the private homes of friends or in luxury resorts in Latin America,” the New York Post quoted the blog as stating.

The couple was seen in New York in May 2007 at a Tate Modern fund- raiser also attended by Calvin Klein, Chelsea Clinton and Lady Rothschild.

Last month, it was reported the pair had stayed together at New York’s Palace Hotel, but the queen’s office has called it “entirely erroneous”.

Slim, who is of Lebanese descent, and Noor, born to a Syrian father, lost their respective spouses within a day of each other in 1999. (ANI)

Obamas’ to head for Martha’s Vineyard for summer vacation

Washington, July 6 (ANI): For their summer vacation, the Obamas are reportedly headed to Martha’s Vineyard.

The trip, however, could come with some complications for the first family, reports Politico.

By heading in that direction, the Obamas are setting themselves up for comparisons to the Clintons, who traveled there on more than one occasion, most notably after the Lewinsky scandal broke.

Vernon Jordan, a close associate of the Clintons, is a presence on the island – and there have been reports that Chelsea Clinton will be married at his home.

The island boasts a heady mix of Hollywood, money and politics.

Obama also has old friends in the town of Oak Bluffs, a go-to spot for influential African-Americans including Spike Lee and Henry Louis Gates.

What has Obama going for him in visiting Martha’s Vineyard?

“This vacation will be perceived in a completely different way because of the kids. It’s going to be cast in a very different light. There are great things for the kids to do. There’s the oldest merry-go-round in the country in Oak Bluffs. There are beaches and fudge shops. It’s not just about hobnobbing with rich people,” said one expert.

New York, May 03 (ANI): Rumours are abuzz that former first daughter Chelsea Clinton is planning to get married in Martha’s Vineyard this summer.

The Boston Globe reported that the daughter of ex-president Bill and current Secretary of State Hillary is set to walk down the aisle with longtime beau Marc Mezvinsky.

Marc is the son of onetime Pennsylvania Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Congressman Edward Mezvinsky.

New York, Apr 24 (ANI): Chelsea Clinton is all set to welcome the bikini season, with a newly acquired fit and trim body.

According to sources, the former first daughter of United States has become a near-constant spin class fixture at the new SoHo outpost of Ride the Zone.

“It’s funny. She’s sweet as pie when she arrives, but the minute she gets on the bike, she’s suddenly really focused and intense,” The New York Post quoted a source as saying.

And her slim figure clearly shows that all the hard work is paying off, because Chelsea “looks amazing.”

Washington, Apr 2 (ANI): Chelsea, daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Hillary, is not getting married this summer, a rep for the family has confirmed.

The National Enquirer reported that the former first daughter, 29, is tying the knot with Marc Mezvinsky, 31, in a secret 1-million dollar wedding this summer.

However, a rep for the Clinton family has dismissed the rumours.

“This report is false,” Usmagazine.com quoted the rep, as saying.

Clinton, who works for Avenue Capital Group and also helped mom Hillary’s presidential campaign, and Mezvinsky, an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, have been dating since she split from Ian Klaus in 2005.

They went public with their relationship in 2007.

Mezvinsky is the son of former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky and onetime Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. (ANI)

The Clintons’ beloved White House cat dies after long battle with cancer

New York, Feb 21 (ANI): Bill Clinton’s family has bid farewell to a cat named ‘Sock’, whom they adopted while he was President of the US, after the White House’s renowned pet lost its long battle with cancer.

A CNN report suggests that the black and white cat was deeply loved by Chelsea Clinton and the whole family.

“Socks brought much happiness to Chelsea and us over the years, and enjoyment to kids and cat lovers everywhere,” the New York Daily News quoted the Clintons as saying.

However, after the Clintons left the White House in 2001, Socks was taken care of by the former President’s secretary, Betty Currie.

The cat fell ill recently and was taken to Maryland hospital, where it finally died. (ANI)
