Gordon Ramsay sued for unpaid wine bill

London, May 5 (ANI): TV chef Gordon Ramsay has been slapped with a lawsuit over an allegedly unpaid wine bill.

The Hell’s Kitchen star was forced to shut shop and file for bankruptcy in 2009 because of the economic downturn.

Despite staying aboard by pumping 5 million pounds of his own to pay debt collectors, his business empire has crashed because of a series of bills and legal issues.

And now, he’s facing a lawsuit from a U.S. wine merchant, Wineberry America LLC, for failing to settle a 27,267-pound bill for a shipment of booze delivery to his New York restaurant, The London NYC.

The suit names Ramsay, The London NYC and his equity backers the Blackstone Group as defendants. (ANI)

Swearing ‘can actually lessen pain’

London, July 12 (ANI): F-word outbursts, for which celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is famous, can actually decrease the effect of pain, according to a new study.

The study, conducted by researchers at Keele University in Staffordshire, suggests that swearing may be a good recipe for coping with physical knocks.

The research team, led by Dr Richard Stephens, wondered whether swearing might have a psychological effect that increased pain tolerance.

To test the theory, they asked 66 volunteer students to submerge a hand into a tube of iced water for as long as possible while repeating a swear word of their choice.

At the beginning of the experiment, participants were asked for “five words you might use after hitting yourself on the thumb with a hammer”. They were told to use the first swear word on the list.

The study was then conducted again, but instead of swearing the students were asked to use one of “five words to describe a table”.

The researchers found that volunteers were able to keep their hands in the freezing water for significantly longer when they swore.

At the same time, their heart rates accelerated and their pain-perception, as measured with a questionnaire, reduced.

According to the researchers, swearing triggers a “fight-or-flight” response and heightens aggression.

“Everyday examples of aggressive swearing include the football manger who ‘psyches up’ players with expletive-laden team talks, or the drill sergeant barking orders interspersed with profanities,” the Scotsman quoted the authors as saying.

“Swearing in these contexts may serve to raise levels of aggression, downplaying feebleness in favour of a more pain-tolerant machismo,” they added.

“Our research shows one potential reason why swearing developed and why it persists,” the Scotsman quoted Stephens as saying.

The study has been published in the journal NeuroReport. (ANI)

Woman who claims to have been Ramsay’s mistress appears on his show

London, May 16 (ANI): Brit chef Gordon Ramsay will apparently be angry after the woman who claims to have been his mistress appeared on his hit US telly show ‘Hell’s Kitchen’.

Sarah Symonds, 39, appeared on screen for a couple of seconds, sitting alone in the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Los Angeles.

She is seen filling out a card to give feedback on her meal, and says “OK” before the shot cuts to another scene.

Ramsay, 42, has always furiously denied having an affair with Symonds, insisting he had met her twice, both times with his wife Tana, 33.

But pals of the F Word star say Ramsay and his wife will be simmering with rage to see Symonds on their own show less than six months after she spilled the beans on the alleged affair.

“I did a double-take. You can only assume that it was a slip-up in the editing suite. You can’t imagine Gordon would have wanted her to appear,” the Daily Star quoted a viewer as saying.

Although Fox TV only showed the episode this week, it is thought to have been filmed in late 2007, a year before the blonde made her allegations.

“It was a serious slip-up letting this footage go out. It is very embarrassing for Gordon and must have been very upsetting for his wife,” a source said.

“Gordon and his team keep a tight control of who is in the restaurant. If they don’t want someone in the place, they don’t get in,” the source added.

Ramsay’s spokesman declined to comment. (ANI)

Recently, these pubs were revealed to be serving food ready prepared by a central Ramsay-run outlet and sold with as much as a 586 per cent mark-up.

“If he marks his products up so much it’s surprising he can’t afford to pay peanuts,” the Daily Express quoted a spokesman for Nibblers as saying.

A rep for Ramsay refused to comment. (ANI)

Meanwhile, Bux has warned fellow ladies against stepping in between her and her fiancée.

Indian woman blazes through chili-eating feat, AS

GAUHATI, India (AP) The “ghost chili,” the world’s spiciest chili, seems to suit her palate. A 28-year-old Indian woman smeared its seeds on her eyes before gobbling up 51 fire-hot chilies in two minutes for an entry into the Guinness World Records, organizers said Friday.

Anandita Dutta Tamuly performed the feat Thursday, cheered on by celebrity British chef Gordon Ramsay who was visiting India’s northeastern Assam state for a television shoot for his new global food series. The thumb-sized chili pepper was accepted by Guinness World Records in 2007 as the world’s spiciest chili.

It is eaten in India’s northeast as a cure for stomach troubles and a way to fight the crippling summer heat. The chili has more than 1,000,000 Scoville units, the scientific measurement of a chili’s spiciness.

Classic Tabasco sauce ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville units, while jalapeno peppers measure anywhere from 2,500 to 8,000. Ramsay tried a bite of the chili and ended up regretting it.

“It’s too much,” he shouted as he pleaded for water from a stage in Jorhat, 200 miles (300 kilometers) northeast of Gauhati, the Assam state capital. Tamuly cried too but for a different reason.

“I felt so terrible I could eat only 51. In 2006, I had eaten 60 of them in two minutes for a local record event.

But I am sure I shall make it to the Guinness World Records,” the homemaker and mother of a 3-year-old told The Associated Press. “Ramsay comforted me saying there was no reason I should feel sad.

He said my feat was extraordinary,” she added. Tamuly has been eating the “ghost chili” called “bhut jolokia” by locals since she was 5.

“While children of my age roamed the village to look for berries, I used to look for ‘bhut jolokia’ which I took with salt,” she said. Organizers said they would send a video to Guinness authorities to certify the feat.

‘Hottest’ Indian woman eats 51 super-hot chillies in 2 minutes!

London, Apr 11 (ANI): An Indian mother of one has made a record after rubbing seeds of the world’s spiciest chili on her eyes before gobbling up 51 fire-hot “ghost chilies” in two minutes.

The cool Anandita Tamuly performed the action-packed stunt in front of visiting British chef Gordon Ramsay in the northeastern state of Assam.

He’s currently in India for filming a series.

Anandita, 26, amazed audiences when she wolfed down the Bhut Jolokia chillies, the world’s hottest.

She smashed the old record of eight in a minute before performing the eye stunt in the town of Jorhat.

“Mr Ramsay was awestruck,” The Sun quoted a local, as saying.

Assamese woman munches world’s hottest chillies, sets record

Jorhat (Assam), April 10 (IANS) A demure 26-year-old mother of one in Assam is all set to have her name entered in record books after having munched 51 of the world’s hottest chillies in two minutes in front of celebrity British chef Gordon Ramsay.

Anandita Dutta Tamuly performed the bizarre feat Thursday night before hundreds of people at the tea growing town of Jorhat, 300 km east of Assam’s main city Guwahati, for a Channel Four Television show on global food being anchored by Ramsay.

‘In two minutes, Anandita gobbled 51 red-hot chillies (locally known as Bhut Jolokia) without batting an eyelid or shedding a tear and also smeared seeds of 25 chillies in her eyes in one minute with the crowd simply awestruck,’ Atul Lahkar, a local chef who coordinated the show, told IANS.

‘The Guinness authorities had earlier asked us to provide them with a recording of the feat supervised by someone responsible. We asked Ramsay to be the adjudicator for Guinness and he agreed to pursue Anandita’s claim as the world’s ‘hottest woman’ by submitting video clippings of the record-breaking feat,’ said Diganta Saikia, another event coordinator.

Bhut Jolokia (capsicum frutescens), a chilli native to Assam, is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world’s hottest chilli pepper.

The discovery by Paul Bosland, a Regents Professor in horticulture at New Mexico State University, was recognised by the Guinness World Records in a testimony saying Bhut Jolokia, belonging to the Capsicum Chinese family and native to Assam, was the hottest of all spices.

The hotness of the Bhut Jolokia, measured in Scoville heat units at two independent laboratories by Bosland, was 1,001,304. It’s nearly twice as hot as Red Savina (577,000), the variety that is second-hottest. By comparison, a New Mexico green chilli contains about 1,500 Scoville units, while an average jalapeno measures at about 10,000.

The reigning chilli champ is South Africa’s Anita Crafford, who in 2002 gobbled eight jalapenos in a minute.

‘I am very happy to have broken the record. They (Channel Four crew members and Ramsay) praised me for my world record breaking feat,’ Anandita told IANS.

The event coordinators said a formal acknowledgement from the Guinness World Records would take some time as there were several formalities before Anandita’s name is etched in the book.

‘I have been eating Bhut Jolokia since my childhood and never felt the hotness in my mouth,’ she said.

She got hooked on to the hot pepper when she was just five years old.

‘I had a sore tongue and my mother applied a chilli paste to cure the infection when I was five. Since then I developed a penchant for chillies,’ Anandita said.

The local variety of the chilli is grown mostly in hilly terrain and is considered a staple menu in every meal among many people in northeastern India.

Indians find Gordon Ramsay’s curries ‘bloody c***’

London, April 5 (ANI): Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has been given a thumbs down after disappointing foodies with his curries in India.

The ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ host has been filming the Indian series for his ‘Great Escape’ for Channel 4.

The 42-year-old, whose TV ratings have taken a dip after facing allegations of cheating on his wife Tana with a writer, managed to offend the palates of locals and experts with his recipes.

“It’s bloody c***,” News of the World quoted one Indian cuisine expert.

Local foodie Satish Jacob fumed: “It’s got too much cardamom, it’s a muddy colour and the flavour is awful. Spices have to be used subtly. I’m very disappointed.”

Ramsay, however, received a more positive response from the tribal people of Bastar in Chhatisgarh after serving them with red ant chutney.

The Brit restaurateur hunted ants and later made a paste adding garlic, red chillies, tomatoes and ant eggs. (ANI)

Gordon Ramsay’s ‘mistress’ turns adultery guru

London, Mar 29 (ANI): Sarah Symonds, the woman who became famous following an alleged seven-year affair with married TV chef Gordon Ramsay, is launching herself as the “infidelity aunt.”

Following the episode, the 39-year-old had received numerous emails from women asking for advice on how to end their dangerous liaisons.

Now she has started Mistresses Anonymous meetings in Los Angeles and New York.

In the meetings women are encouraged to talk openly about their relationships and urged to take steps to make their lives happier.

“Clandestine relationships are a form of addiction which is difficult to break. To start with there is the adrenaline rush, the thrill of a new relationship which, inevitably, over time is replaced by the reality of the situation and then the heartbreak and tears,” The Daily Express quoted Symonds, as saying.

“Most mistresses kid themselves that their lovers will leave their wives and set up home with them, but the truth is that rarely happens,” she added.

There are 12 steps to recovery, which include never waiting at home for the phone to ring, improving self-esteem, being more positive about seeking a single man and being more analytical about relationships.

She said: “I have also had some contact with wives who want to know what do about their husband’s mistress. My advice to them is simple, act more like a mistress, spice up home life and the mistress will fade away.” (ANI)

UK chef Ramsay never played top-grade soccer

London, Mar.1 (ANI): Chef Gordon Ramsay has always relished boasting about his glory days as a budding soccer star with Glasgow Rangers, but a News of the World report reveals that he never “signed” up for the team and never played first team games for them, despite saying so on radio, in his autobiography and in a series of interviews.

In fact, he was such a liar, fellow cooks nicknamed him “Billy Bull***t”. He even secretly confessed to top chef Marco Pierre White that his Rangers career was boloney, adding: “But it just came out of my mouth and it was a good story at the time”.

Today, according to The Sun, that story is booted into touch for good.

Ramsay, 42, only got away with it, because no other newspaper managed to follow his trail of lies and piece together the truth.

Respected Rangers historian Robert McElroy was quoted as saying: “He (Ramsay) was never a signed player for us and certainly didn’t play any first team games and wasn’t offered any sort of contract-it’s all complete and utter nonsense.”

Legendary Rangers coach Archie Knox, who the chef blames for “dumping” him from the club, said: “He must be a very confused individual. I was the manager of Dundee at the time.” (ANI)

“When I saw the videos of Felix impersonating me I thought it was hilarious,” the Mirror quoted Ramsay as saying.

“I was with my son Jack, who is eight, and my wife Tana. I said, ‘Look, come and see Daddy when he was little’.

“We all sat there laughing our heads off. Felix had me down to a T. I thought we just have to get this kid on Hell’s Kitchen. He’s a star,” he added. (ANI)
