Roger Daltrey urges younger rockers to run his charity concerts

Washington, March 30 (ANI): The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has been calling upon Oasis star Noel Gallagher and Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones to take over his role as a charity gig organiser.

Daltrey has been managing the fundraisers for his Teenage Cancer Trust project for the last nine years.

And the 65-year-old now feels it is time for him to step down and pass the beacon to younger stars.

“I would like to take the model of what we’ve done here and concentrate on getting it started in other countries now, ” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“It does take an awful lot of energy. I call it my ‘yearly breakdown’. I would love to find someone from a younger generation to take over from me,” he added.

Meanwhile, a flattered Jones revealed he was yet to take a decision on taking up the role.
He said: “(Daltrey has) asked me and Noel a couple of times to our faces. If you’re in a band and you can help people who are worse off, it’s not much to ask for.

“It’s a big job and we’re like, ‘Come on Roger, you’d do it a lot better than us’, and he carries on doing it. I’ve never really given it as much thought as answering it with a serious tone. We’ll see. You see what happens in life.” (ANI)

The rockers are set to share the microphone with Sheryl Crow, Donovan and Moby at the David Lynch Foundation concert in April.

Lynch revealed he intended to create awareness about transcendental meditation, especially amongst children.

“In today’s world of fear and uncertainty, every child should have one class period a day to dive within himself and experience the field of silence (and) bliss – the enormous reservoir of energy and intelligence that is deep within all of us,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“This is the way to save the coming generation.

“I have been diving within through the Transcendental Meditation technique for over 30 years. It has changed my life, my world,” he added. (ANI)
