Family friend says the Gores just ”grew apart” after 40 years of marriage

New York, June 4 (ANI): Washington Post journalist Sally Quinn, a longtime friend of the Gores, said Al and Tipper just grew apart after 40 years of marriage.

Quinn told CBS” “The Early Show” on Wednesday that she had never heard any rumors of infidelity and thinks the pair just “grew apart.”

“They were sort of nomads in a way. They went back to Tennessee, but they didn”t really live there,” the New York Daily News quoted Quinn, as saying.

“Al traveled a lot. They sort of migrated to the West Coast, where Tipper has an apartment, and Al has a lot of business. But he was traveling all the time. And, I think, their interests just diverged,” she added.

Quinn also said Tipper may have wanted to branch out on her own.

“It may be that she”s just tired of being the wife, and wants to be someone who can accomplish something on her own,” Quinn said.

Although Quinn believes neither of the Gores was unfaithful, she is deeply upset by the couple”s split.

“The interesting thing is, that usually when something like this happens, you get a sense of glee, people that are saying, ”I told you so,” or ”I knew it” or whatever,” she said. “I have only encountered sadness.”

The Gores announced their separation in an e-mail to friends on Tuesday, writing the split was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.” (ANI)

Ex-FBI officer says US can expect more “unguided missiles” like Shahzad

New York, May 6 (ANI): A former FBI official has said that a shift in terrorist strategy, coupled with an imperfect system for detecting threats, will allow more “unguided missiles” like foiled Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad to carry out potentially disastrous attacks on American soil.

“What we”re starting to see more and more, the unguided missiles. By that I mean, they”re given some training in terrorism, and then they”re just told to go do something, without control, without anything else. And that”s kind of frightening,” Skip Brandon, a former assistant director of the FBI, told CBS” “The Early Show”.

Michigan Republican lawmaker Peter Hoekstra agreed with Brandaon’s assessment, saying that in the past it was always thought al Qaeda … wanted to do another attack against the United States, but having realized that this would be very hard to accomplish, they have resorted to using splinter groups to cause maximum damage.

Hoekstra also questioned whether the United States was using all the tools at its disposal to guard against these unassuming attackers.

“I think that there are certain tools that we should have available that we”re not using right now,” he said.

Both expressed surprise over Shahzad managing to board a Dubai-bound plane, even after he had been added to the federal no-fly list.

“Well, this is the question of the day. How could this happen?” Brandon said.

“This is not necessarily rocket science, and we”ve had a long time to work out all the glitches. It shouldn”t have happened. But, in the end, we also have to remember, that, in fact, it did work. Very close call on it, but it did work,” he added.

Brandon said the system ” has to be reviewed, and fine tuned.” (ANI)

Sarah Palin’s dad slams Levi Johnston over poor parenting

New York, April 15 (ANI): Sarah Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, has lashed out at Levi Johnston, the father of his great-grandchild, for not contributing enough money for the well being of his infant son.

Heath accused 18-year-old Johnston, who has a four-month-old son with Alaska Governor’s unwed teen daughter Bristol, for capitalising on interviews.

He told US Weekly magazine that he hopes Johnston would “take some of this money he’s making and buy some diapers with it,” reports the New York Daily News.

Johnston had revealed his side of the story on “The Tyra Banks Show” and CBS’ “The Early Show” and reps from both the shows confirmed he was not paid for the appearance.

Bristol’s former fiancé had alleged that he was being prevented from being with his son, and also claimed that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate knew of his sexual relations with her daughter. (ANI)

Levi Johnston calls Sarah Palin ‘snobby’

New York, Apr 9 (ANI): Levi Johnston, the father of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s first grandchild, has called her a ‘snob’ who thinks his ‘family is white trash’.

Johnston, 18, who said his appearances on the former Republican vice-presidential candidate’s campaign had been their idea, revealed in an exclusive interview on CBS’ “The Early Show” that he was heart-broken over the end of his engagement to Bristol.

He also revealed that he began sharing a room with Bristol in the Palin household a few weeks before the birth of their son, Tripp, and said that they were lying about him.

“We’re not cashing in on their name,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

“I’m just trying to get my side of the story out there and letting people know who I am.

“They said I didn’t live there. I stayed there. I was like, OK, well, whatever you want to call it. I had my stuff there,” he said.

Johnston said that he’s under the impression the Palins though he’s not good enough for their daughter.

His sister Mercede seconded him by calling the Palin family as stuck-up.

“Look what they’re doing. They’re lying, trying to save theirselves. And they’re the one that asked for it,” she said.

“They brought him to the campaign. They should have known what was coming. They can’t, you know, turn around and try to take it back now,” she added.

Johnston also said that even though the pregnancy was unplanned, he has no regrets about it as his son meant the world to him.

“He’s my little boy. I don’t know what I’d do without him. When I hold him, it’s an amazing feeling. I just shake,” he said.

“I wouldn’t call any baby a mistake. I mean, I love him more than anything. I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

“I can go over there whenever I want and see my baby, but nine times out of ten, I’m not allowed to take him.

“It’s not as comfortable — they don’t think of me the same way anymore,” he added. (ANI)

US wants ‘strong’ UN response to North Korea

WASHINGTON: UN Ambassador
Susan Rice says the US is asking the United Nations for “a clear and strong response” to North Korea’s missile
launch.

Rice said the US is calling for a security council resolution that would be binding under international law, so North Korea’s leaders understand “they can’t act with impunity.”

Rice called the launch “clearly a violation of international law.” She made her comments in an interview on CBS’ “The Early Show.”

Rice said the United States is in private consultations with key partners of the Security Council, which met in an emergency session Sunday. She said the private meetings would continue over the next few days.

Aniston’s pals thought some of her exes were gay!

New York, Feb 6 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston has revealed that her friends thought some of her ex-boyfriends were gay.

The “He’s Just Not That Into You” star made the revelation while in an interview with CBS’ “The Early Show” on Wednesday.

When asked what was her idea of a romantic date, she said: “Well thought-out, simple … just being able to go to a great restaurant, great conversation and a walk on a beach if there is one to be walked on!”

Aniston also went ahead and dished about her past relationships, reports the New York Daily News.

According to the actress, she has never had to use her new movie’s catchphrase.

“No, I don’t think I have, honestly. It’s been pretty clear. You can feel if somebody is or isn’t,” she added.

But apparently her friends may have figured out why some of Aniston’s dates were not so into her.

“I’ve had people say, ‘Honey, I think he’s gay.’ [My reaction is], ‘What! But we get along so well,’” Aniston said. (ANI)
