Women wear £1K worth of clothes, jewellery every day!

London, May 14 (ANI): A typical woman’s day-to-day outfit involves underwear worth 26.61 pounds, a skirt at 30.46 pounds, top 22.83 pounds, knitwear 38.85 pounds, coat 64.75 pounds, tights 3.90 pounds and shoes 51.21 pounds, a study has found.

And all of this is teamed up with jewellery worth 378.82 pounds and a 76.49-pound watch.

What’s more, she accessories this with a 106.58-pound handbag with a purse containing cash, tickets and passes worth a total 146.29 pounds and a 106.06-pound mobile phone.

That means the average woman top-to-toe is worth 1,052.85 pounds on a daily basis – 93.84 pounds more than the typical man, reports The Daily Express.

Nikki Sellers, head of Sheila’s Wheels home insurance which funded the study of 3,000 adults, said: “While celebrities wouldn’t be seen without their designer clothes, this shows 1,000 pounds is enough to give most British men and women the feel-good factor.” (ANI)

Amanda Seyfried says she deaf to her beau’s British accent charm

London, May 08 (ANI): American actress Amanda Seyfried has confessed that she’s longer attracted to her boyfriend Dominic Cooper’s English accent.

The stunner had earlier revealed that she had a thing for British accent, but she now confessed that her boyfriend’s accent does nothing to excite her, as she believes she has stayed with him for very long, reports the Daily Express.

“To be honest, I don’t even notice it any more,” says Amanda, 24.

“It was really sexy at first – and I still find it so attractive on other British men – but I’ve been with him now for so long, I don’t hear it. He’s like an extension of me,” she added.

The couple hit it off on and off-screen while filming Mamma Mia! in 2007. (ANI)

Brit men prefer to spend cash on moisturizer rather than booze!

London, Mar 30 (ANI): British men prefer to spend money on moisturizer rather than booze, a study has found.

According to the survey, almost half of blokes would give up nights out drinking in favour of face creams, aftershave or a good razor, reports The Daily Star.

And a quarter spend as much on their looks as their girlfriends, according to a survey by Gillette.

Mike Shallcross, deputy editor of Men’s Health Magazine, said: “The findings are just further proof that British blokes have moved on from the old lager lout stereotype.”

As per the study, men in the UK are now spending 920million pounds a year on grooming products. (ANI)

Brit men could face rape charge for sex with drunken women

London, Mar 13(ANI): If government agrees with a new review on rape convictions, British men can face charge of rape for having sex with women who are too drunk to consent.

Baroness Stern, who led a major inquiry aimed to improve rape convictions, said, even husbands or partners need to get “clear consent” before sexual intercourse.

Lady Stern’s review disallows men to use drunkenness as an excuse for any confusion over consent.

She argues that just six per cent of reported rapes result in a conviction is misleading.

Last December, Lady Stern emphasized that a drunken woman was not “fair game”.

“Being drunk is voluntary and people who become drunk are responsible for their actions. It is not the alcohol that commits the rape. It is not an excuse. It used to be regarded as such, but it is not an excuse. It is an aggravating factor,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

She added: “I don”t think there is any ambiguity. You can”t have sex with someone who hasn”t said yes and that is it. There is no grey area.” (ANI)

Brit men having moob jobs on the rise

London, Sep 18 (ANI): It has emerged that more and more Brit men are having cosmetic surgery to get rid of their “moobs”.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), there has been a 44 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of men wanting to get rid of their ‘man boobs’.

The AGM of BAAPS in Cardiff heard that the procedure is now the fifth most popular cosmetic op for men, with more than 1,000 men forking out more than 2,000 pounds to get rid of their flabby breasts in the last 12 months.

Delegates were told over the past five years the numbers of men losing their moobs have shot up by an amazing 1,000 per cent.

“We are seeing men of all ages coming in to have their breasts made smaller,” the Sun quoted plastic surgeon Douglas McGeorge as saying.

“They are losing their inhibitions about the operation and deciding to undergo an operation which previously was a women’s operation,” he said.

McGeorge, who is based in Chester, revealed that a recent patient, who had never taken his shirt off, was typical of the men queuing up for the op.

“It was a grandfather who had never taken off his T-shirt in his life because he was so embarrassed about the size of his breasts,” he said.

“He had never been able to strip to the waist on the beach in front of his own children – but was determined not to be in the same position with his grandchildren,” he stated.

The moob jobs pushed out facelifts to become the fifth most popular plastic surgery for British men after nose jobs, eyelifts, ear corrections, and liposuction.

“Reasons for the upsurge include men being more open now about their physique than years ago,” plastic surgeon Fazel Fatah said.

“And they can get more and more information about it from internet sites which encourage them to have the op,” he added. (ANI)

Most Brit men prefer to settle down than be womanising bachelors

London, September 1 (ANI): A new survey has found that most British men living in cities have romantic notions of love and choose to settle down and have children than be womanizers.

Match.com, which conducted the poll, found that sixty-two per cent of men in London wish to marry compared with 46 per cent in the West Midlands and 47 per cent in Wales.

Also, 78 per cent of London’s males admit to wanting a family compared with a national average of 55 per cent.

“London men had developed a reputation of being unromantic but this new information seems to dispel this,” the Daily Express quoted Katie Sheppard of Match.com as saying.

She added: “If women are looking for their men to be chivalrous, romantic and committed, they could do far worse than looking for love in the capital.”

But the Londoners may be a little slow in expressing their love, as only 31 per cent could say “I love you” to the women they loved.

The study further revealed that men are more likely to want to have children than women – 59 per cent against 50 per cent.

Even in being romantic, they outdid women with 56 per cent believing that feelings would not fade, while only 49 per cent of women agreeing to it.

And finally, the survey suggested that the British men think a perfect life partner would be a 5ft 6in, 31-year-old teacher. (ANI)

Men, too, feel anxious to strip off on the beach

London, July 3 (ANI): It’s not just the women who worry about body image and are reluctant to bare it all, for men too feel uncool about stripping off, according to researchers.

The survey by Tescodiets.com revealed that almost 50 percent men worry about baring their stomachs on the beach.

In fact, one in three men have considered avoiding a beach holiday altogether because of how they look in their swimming trunks.

Seven in 10 men surveyed were worried about baring their bodies, 47 percent were most cautious about revealing their stomachs.

More than 2,000 men were questioned for the survey, out of which, almost 75 percent thought that British men get just as nervous as women, when it comes to slipping on the swimwear.

The boys resort to many tactics to cover up in the heat-nearly a quarter wear shorts or a T-shirt even in the sea, 40 percent diet and around one third strip off only when in the water.

Over three-quarters of men were jealous of toned, athletic men they spotted on the beach.

One third of men said that they were most worried about how they looked to the opposite sex, as compared to just 13 percent who worried about what other men would think.

“Every summer we hear plenty about women dreading having to wear a swimsuit but men clearly have many of the same issues,” Sky News quoted Catherine Ambrozewicz, head of Tescodiets.com, as saying. (ANI)

Vegetarians develop ‘fewer’ cancers

London, July 1 (ANI): Vegetarians may be less likely than meat eaters to develop cancers of the blood, bladder and stomach, suggests a study.

Lead researcher Professor Tim Key, however, insists that this may not be the case for all forms of the disease.

Scientists from universities in the UK and New Zealand examined 61,566 British men and women, including meat-eaters, those who ate fish but not meat, and those who did not ate either.

The researchers found that while nearly 33 people in 100 in the general population would develop cancer during their lifetime, for those who abstained from meat the risk was reduced to about 29 in 100.

The study discovered considerable differences between meat-eaters and vegetarians in the propensity to cancers of the lymph and the blood, with the latter just over half as likely to develop these forms of the disease.

Vegetarians were observed to get notably fewer of stomach, bladder, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma cancers.

But Key warned that the findings, published in the British Journal of Cancer, were not strong enough to draw absolute conclusions.

“At the moment these findings are not strong enough to ask for particularly large changes in the diets of people following an average balanced diet,” the BBC quoted Key as saying.

A spokesperson for Cancer Research UK, which funded the research, added: “These interesting results add to the evidence that what we eat affects our chances of developing cancer. We know that eating a lot of red and processed meat increases the risk of stomach cancer.

But the links between diet and cancer risk are complex and more research is needed to see how big a part diet plays and which specific dietary factors are most important.”

Myeloma UK also said: “Dietary advice to myeloma patients remains aligned with national guidance – that they should eat a healthy, balanced diet high in fibre, fruit and vegetables and low in saturated fat, salt and red and processed meat.”

Dr Panagiota Mitrou, Science and Research Programme Manager for the World Cancer Research Fund, further said: “The suggestion that vegetarians might be at reduced risk of blood cancers is particularly interesting. However, this finding should be treated with caution since not much is known about the link between diet and these types of cancer. Further studies of vegetarians are needed before we can be confident this is actually the case.” (ANI)

‘Baldness calculator’ helps predict hair loss in men

London, June 25 (ANI): Men who value hair more than health can add one more item to their long list of creams, potions and medicines: ‘Baldness calculator’.

The pioneering new computer program predicts if and when men will go bald.

After being a huge hit with men in other countries, ‘baldness calculator’- said to be the world’s first reliable tool for predicting hair loss – is being offered to British men.

The program calculates the exact age at which someone will go bald or have lost most of their hair or provides reassurance by predicting that they will still have a full head of hair in old age, reports The Telegraph.

More than half a million German men used it within ten days of it being unveiled there and three million men have tried it out globally so far.

As far as its operation is concerned: the program devised by German scientists asks users about their age, marital status, occupation, where they live, what their current hairline is, hair loss in their family and their stress levels.

Dr Adolf Klenk, head of research and development at hair care firm Dr Kurt Wolff, said: “More and more men value full hair but especially younger men.

“They are looking for a partner and are at the peak of their social lives. They are very conscious about their looks and being accepted within their social groups.

“They get concerned that if they lose their hair, they will cease to be attractive to others whereas older men don’t care so much.”

Dr Klenk added: “Genetic predisposition is by far the most common cause of baldness. But other factors include severe, long-term emotional stress, perhaps associated with a divorce or the loss of a close relative.

“A poor diet can fail to provide the hair with sufficient nutrients and men who wear headgear in call centres or helmets on construction sites motorbikes may be putting their hair roots at risk of being pulled out or losing density.

“We have developed the male baldness calculator to raise awareness among men.” (ANI)

Kim Kardashian finds British men cute

London, May 30 (ANI): Socialite Kim Kardashian has revealed that she is a big fan of British men.

The reality TV star and Playboy pin-up says she finds them ‘cute’.

“I love it in the UK. I love the accent and there are definitely some cute men,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old beauty, who’s been dating American footballer Reggie Bush for the past four years, is in no hurry to get hitched.

“I’ve been with Reggie for two years and he’s definitely the man for me, he’s everything I would want in a man,” she said.

“We’re on a reality TV show but we try to have a balance – we make sure we have our private moments if you know what I mean!” she added.

Kardashian was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas but they divorced after four years.

She says it’s definitely not put her off getting married again – although will certainly delay her second marriage.

“I definitely want to get married again, that’s the best part of life – finding that person you can be with forever and have a really good relationship with,” she said.

“It won’t be happening too soon, I’m still enjoying my life and my relationship.

“I’ve been through a marriage and divorce and I don’t want to do that again, I’m definitely more cautious and I’ll make sure I don’t jump into anything too quickly this time,” she added. (ANI)

Greek court frees “flashing nuns” British tourists

Athens – A Greek court allowed a group of 17 British tourists in Crete to go free after they were arrested for wearing nun costumes and allegedly flashing their backsides at residents, reports said Tuesday.

The British men, aged between 18 and 60, were arrested by police at the popular tourist resort of Malia over the weekend.

Police arrested the men for insulting the Catholic church and they faced charges of causing a scandal through provocative acts.

According to the Greek daily newspaper Kathimerini, the men turned up in court dressed like nuns, carrying crosses and wearing thongs under their skirts and showing people their bottoms.

They were eventually allowed to go free after no witnesses turned up in court to testify that their behaviour had been offensive.

The tourist resort of Malia is notorious for attracting boisterous visitors who visit each year in large numbers, the majority of them from Britain. (dpa)

GITMO camp X-ray exposes MI5′s secret deals to recruit informants

London, May 6 (ANI): Britain’s MI5 secretly tried to hire British men held in Guantanamo Bay and other US prison camps by promising to protect them from their American captors and help secure their return home to the United Kingdom, The Independent has learnt.

One of the men, Richard Belmar, was told he would be paid “well” for his services if he was willing to work undercover for MI5.

A second detainee, Bisher Al Rawi, was told that if he agreed to work for the security service he would be “freed within months”.

Three other detainees were threatened with rendition and harsh detention regimes if they did not co-operate with their British and American interrogators.

But MI5 failed to honour the promises made by its agents, a former agent has told The Independent.

The source, who is close to the MI5 officers who conducted the interviews, has confirmed that “assurances” had been given to the British men while they were held in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay.

He said that senior officers in London had cleared the actions of its own officers but later reneged on the promises. This is backed up by sworn testimony lodged in the High Court from the former detainees.

The clandestine recruitment operation was being pursued at the same time that the British Government was supporting American claims that those held at the notorious US naval base represented a serious threat to world security.

All five men, and two other former Guantanamo detainees, are seeking compensation from the Foreign Office, the Home Office, MI5 and MI6 and the Attorney General. (ANI)

UK men less fussy when looking for love

London, Apr 11 (ANI): For Brit men, it doesn’t matter whether their women is poor, out of work, ill-educated, or doesn’t know how to cook- as when it comes to love, UK males are much less fussy than their European counterparts, according to a survey.

Conducted by the online dating service Parship, the European survey found that British men valued brains over beauty.

The figures revealed that only 41 percent of single UK males looked for qualities such as education, salary and morality when choosing a mate.

After questioning 13,000 singletons, aged 18-59 years, the surveyors found that 83 percent of them confessed that they would be happier dating unemployed woman.
Even the lack of culinary skills in a woman failed to deter them, as only 34 percent expected their partner to be able to cook.

And when asked what did they really look for in a woman, 70 percent of the men in the poll favoured qualities like good communication skills, a sense of humour, openness, honesty and intelligence.

But, this doesn’t deny the fact that physical appearance is also important- over half (52%) thought a pretty face was a must in a potential mate.

Brit women, on the other hand, seemed to be slightly more selective in their quest to find their perfect partner, reports Sky News.
Women also have higher standards when it comes to fidelity, with 90 percent saying it would make them end a relationship compared to 68 percent of men.

Brit men’s feet are growing bigger by the day

London, Apr 10 (ANI): Men in UK are certainly walking ahead and that too with big shoes-new figures have revealed that British men’s feet are getting bigger and the average shoe size has grown by one in the last five years.

According to Debenhams-the UK departmental store-the average man’s shoe size in 2004 was eight, but now it is size nine.

The demand for size 12 shoes has soared, and for the first time gone ahead in requests for size sevens.

According to the figures, Men in Birmingham have the largest feet, followed by Liverpool, Belfast and Cardiff.

Statistics also suggest that the average shoe for women has apparently become broader and longer.

“For the first time, we’re considering stocking size 13 as a standard fitting across all of our ranges, and size 14 is a possibility too. Our largest shoe currently available is a size 12. In the past, these shoe sizes would have been available only on special order,” the Telegraph quoted a Debenhams spokesman as saying.

He added: “We think it is because people are growing taller. The trends tell us that clothing sizes are also getting bigger. Interestingly, women’s shoes are getting broader as well as longer, which would suggest that women are getting bigger in general.”

The top 10 cities by men’s shoe size are:

1. Birmingham. Liverpool. Belfast. Cardiff. London. Manchester. Aberdeen. Cambridge. Bristol0. Milton Keynes (ANI)

Brit men think about football more than sex

London, Apr 10 (ANI): Nearly 60 percent of British men mull over football for more than an hour a day, while less than half ponder romping, a new study has claimed.

The poll was conducted for Sports Interactive and Sega.

Also, the study shockingly revealed that some men would even miss the birth of their first kid for a cup final, reports The Sun.

Spokesman Miles Jacobson said: “We prove that men are more obsessed with the beautiful game than with the fairer sex.”

Meanwhile, UK males are the least fussy European blokes about who they date, says a survey.

Four in ten worry about a woman’s education or salary and 30 per cent do not care if she is faithful, the survey found. (ANI)

British men detained for running terror ‘orphanage’ in Bangladesh

Dhaka (Bangladesh), Mar. 27 (ANI): Bangladeshi Police have arrested a British man whose charity is suspected of running a militant-training camp in the guise of an orphanage on remote Bhola Island.

Greater Manchester-based Faisal Mostafa, who was acquitted in 2002 of being part of an al-Qaeda bomb plot, was arrested on Wednesday night in Dhaka.

“Dr. Mostafa, 45, who has is a PhD in metals corrosion, was detained along with his Bangladeshi agent. They are charged with illegally keeping arms, explosive and ammunition, and with militancy and terrorism,” The Times quoted Captain Shafiul Alam of the elite Rapid Action Battalion, as saying.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said that it was investigating reports of the arrest but could not confirm it.

“We are in contact with the Bangladeshi authorities and his family.”

The RAB says that it discovered a suspected Islamic militant training camp and weapons factory in a raid on an orphanage run by Mostafa’s charity, Green Crescent, on southern island of Bhola on Tuesday.

The RAB raid recovered evidence including nine or ten firearms, 3,000 rounds of ammunition and enough explosive for hundreds of grenades.

They also found Islamic literature “in line with extremists like bin Laden” and had arrested four people.

Mostafa’s family has said that he set up the orphanage because of a humanitarian desire to help poor children.

Ghulam Mostafa, his father, added that his son had a lifelong interest in hunting and made his own ammunition using spent cartridges and gunpowder.

Mostafa was acquitted in February 2002 of plotting to cause explosions. He was acquitted of a similar charge in 1996 after a trial at Manchester Crown Court, but was found guilty of illegally possessing a firearm and sentenced to four years in prison. (ANI)

UK Govt. ‘failed to stop torture of three Britons in Pak’

London, Mar. 18 (ANI): The UK Government has come under fire for reportedly failing to stop the torture of three Britons in Pakistan despite repeatedly being asked for assistance.
Birmingham based Fazal Hussain, 56, along with his two sons Naheem, 24, and Rehan Zaman, 24, were arrested for their alleged role in the killings of two members of their extended family in Pakistan occupied Kashmir in 2004.

“They beat us by kicking, sticks and any other way. They would never stop beating me and my son. They would not let us sleep and they did not give us any food or water. A British embassy representative, who visited us, was shown evidence of our treatment, but he said ‘I can’t do anything’,” The Daily Telegraph quoted, Hussain as saying.

The men were also forced to watch each other being tortured, which Hussain described as worse than enduring his own beatings.

“For hours, my son was on the floor, with two policemen – one holding his legs, one holding his arms – and a third one standing on his stomach, kicking. I was right in front of my son,” he said.

Zaman also had cigarettes put out on his wrists and one of his fingernails extracted.
After Hussain was forced to sign a confession, and his father bribed the police chief more than 11,000 pounds, he and Zaman were charged with the murders.

“I have lost my whole life, I’m not able to work. I just want to get my son back here. I appeal to Britain: we are British citizens – do something, please,” Hussain pleaded.

The Foreign Office told the legal group representing the British men that it had been warned by a Pakistani lawyer representing the men, not to intervene over their treatment.

“We’ve got to make sure that the Government adopts a policy that when someone is going through an ongoing process of torture, there are immediate steps taken to stop it,” Director of Reprieve, Clive Stafford-Smith, said. ritish Foreign Office’s apparent willingness to obey the “lawyer” raised questions over the security of Britons travelling abroad, he said. Lady Gaga is besotted with Prince Harry

London, March 18 (ANI): Lady Gaga confessed that she was “royal-struck” after spotting Prince Harry at a club last year, and couldn’t stop herself from staring at him.

The pop vixen said part of her fascination with the soldier prince was due to his “posh” accent.

“I spotted him last year in a club and couldn’t take my eyes off him,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“British men are cool. I especially love the accent and Prince Harry sounds so posh,” she added.

The 22-year-old, born as Stefani Joanne Germanotta, previously revealed she has often had officials warning her to cover up.

But that hasn’t stopped the blonde diva from abandoning her trademark PVC, which she wears without pants most of the times. (ANI)

Washington, March 2 (ANI): Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue is one well known personality with whom most British men would share a bed-in protest, while ace footballer David Beckham topped the poll for women.

‘Beatle’ star John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent their honeymoon in bed at the Amsterdam Hilton 40 years ago this month, protesting against the Vietnam war.
