Three Men And A Baby 3rd instalment in the pipeline

London, June 4 (ANI): Tom Selleck has admitted that there is a sequel in the offing for the movie ‘Three Men and a Baby’.

The 65-year-old actor starred in the 1987 film along with Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg and followed it up with ‘Three Men And A Little Lady’ in 1990.

The third part, evidently, is titled ‘Three Men And A Bride’.

“It is true that Disney checked my availability, and I know they checked Ted”s and Steve”s, and then had a script written, I think tentatively called Three Men And A Bride, which kind of says it all,” The Mirror quoted him as telling MTV.

Steve had revealed last year that another movie might be in the works.

Tom added, “I hope it”s a good script, and if it is a good script I hope they do it, because it would be really fun to get back with Ted and Steve. The strongest of the two movies I think is the first one. It had more heart, and that”s what I hope this third one would have if we do it.” (ANI)

Groom escapes flood to attend wedding

A central Queensland man has been in danger of missing his own wedding due to floodwaters isolating him for two weeks.

Dave McIntyre from near Taroom has been flooded in on his property for the past two weeks but has finally made it out.

He is due to marry his fiance Megan Lawlor tomorrow on the Sunshine Coast and the bride-to-be says the big wet has added to the pre-wedding stress.

“I was a little bit nervous and every time I called, ‘can you get out yet – can you get out’, it was always ‘no, no, no’ … so it sort of felt like it was going on forever,” Ms Lawlor said.

“Two weeks of having Dave stuck was a little bit nerve-racking.

“It’s going to be a good story in years to come, it was very unexpected but it’s been great to have the rain.”

‘Bride bouquet throwing’ tradition causes plane to crash in Italy

London, July 15 (ANI): The bouquet throwing tradition turned into tragedy at an Italian wedding, after throwing of the flowers caused a plane to crash in Suvereto, near Livorno in western Tuscany.

A couple had rented a small jet to fly over their guests at Montioni park, and drop the bride’s bouquet to women standing below.

But, according to Corriere della Sera, the wedding turned sour when the flowers apparently got sucked back into one of the engines, leading the plane to catch fire and explode, reports The Telegraph.

The aircraft subsequently plunged into a field next to a hostel below, injuring one passenger seriously.

Isidoro Pensieri, who was responsible for throwing the wedding bouquet, suffered “facial and cranial trauma” and multiple fractures to both legs. (ANI)

Islamic fundamentalists jailed for trying to set ablaze publisher’s house in London

London, July 8 (ANI): Three Islamic fundamentalists have been jailed for an arson attack on the home of a London-based publisher who planned to publish a novel about the Prophet Muhammad and his child bride.

Fundamentalists doused the door of Martin Rynja’s home with diesel and set ablaze after discovering that he intended to publish Sherry Jones’s novel The Jewel of Medina, an “offensive” book about the prophet, The Times reports.

The attack on the home of Rynja has been compared to the campaign against the publication of Salmon Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses.

The arson was led by Ali Beheshti, who was photographed three years ago at a London protest with his baby daughter dressed in a pink bonnet bearing the slogan “I love al-Qaeda”.

Undercover police followed Beheshti and the other attackers for several weeks and saw them monitoring the publisher and trying to avoid detection by changing their clothes.

Beheshti, 41, and Abrar Mirza, 23, admitted conspiracy to commit arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered. Abbas Taj, 30, was convicted of the same offence at Croydon Crown Court in May.

Justice Rafferty, sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice, sentenced each of them to four and a half years in jail, saying: “If you choose to live in this country, you live by its rules.”

The judge described Rynja as “a principled” man who had “exercised critical judgment on a literary work and stood up to be counted, knowing that publishing it put him at risk”.

Rynja’s publishing company, Gibson Square Books, bought the rights to the novel after Random House dropped plans to publish it, fearing “acts of violence”.

Jones, an American author, had insisted that her book was respectful towards Islam and Rynja said he felt that its publication was part of a liberal democracy.

Andrew Hall, QC, said in mitigation for Beheshti that the arson attack was “an act of protest born of the publication of a book felt by him and other Muslims to be disrespectful, provocative and offensive.

“He wishes me to say now, publicly, that he considers his conduct to have been misguided, disproportionate and counter-productive,” he added. (ANI)

Marriage can make you ‘fat’

London, July 7 (ANI): People who marry are up to three times more likely to become obese than those who just keep dating, according to a new study.

According to the study, soon after a groom carries his bride over the threshold both end up carrying extra weight, reports the Daily Express.

Moving in with a romantic partner also increased the odds of obesity, but there were interesting nuances by sex: for women, the risk increased after just one year of living together, while for men the risk kicked in between the first and second year.

Couples blamed a lack of exercise, watching too much television and an over-use of computers.

The study has been published in the US medical journal Obesity. (ANI)

Glasgow’s Capri Skies bridal store was set to have its assets, including the dresses, seized after being hit by recession, but thanks to the man, who told a local newspaper that “insiders” helped him get into the shop, the dresses were saved.

In a letter to the newspaper the man explained why he had stolen the dresses.

“I got out as many dresses as I could and delivered them to brides all over Scotland,” the Sun quoted the modern day Robin Hood as writing.

Tom Hanks helped bride stuck in traffic get to church on time

London, May 19 (ANI): American actor Tom Hanks showed his chivalrous side when he halted the production of his new film, and rushed to the aid of an Australian bride who got stuck in traffic.

Hanks, 52, was filming ‘Angels and Demons’ in Rome when he noticed that Natalia Dearnley, 28, had gotten stuck on the way to her wedding ceremony inside the city’s Pantheon.

Noticing that the roads were clogged with film production vehicles and tourists, and that Dearnley’s limousine could not reach the steps of the temple, the actor yelled out “cut” to stop filming and rushed to her aid.

“As we were trying to get through Tom came over and asked if he could escort me to my wedding,” the Telegraph quoted Dearnley, a sales and marketing manager who now lives in London, as telling Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

“I couldn’t believe it. He stopped filming to help me. I’ve never met a celebrity before, we just went straight for the A-list.

“They were all cheering, it was amazing. Dad invited Tom to stay for the wedding but he said he had a movie to make,” she said.

Hanks used his large security detail to usher the bride through the crowd and into the Pantheon, where her groom was waiting.

After the ceremony, Hanks and Ron Howard, the film’s director, were waiting outside to congratulate the newlyweds and pose for several photographs.

“Her limo couldn’t deliver her to the door, so I offered her my arm so she could get hitched,” Hanks revealed later.

Hanks then invited the pair to the world premiere of the film in Rome, which they attended earlier this month.

The incident took place in June last year, and remained a secret until the time ‘Angels and Demons’ opened in cinemas around the world. (ANI)

Forced child marriage in Bihar

Gaya, May 5 (ANI): Personnel of Bihar Police arrested a few persons involved in the kidnapping of a young boy and conducting his marriage with a girl child by force in Gaya district.

A 15-year-old boy named Lal Babu was kidnapped on Sunday for the wedding, which was solemnised under compulsion and at gunpoint.

A student of tenth standard, Lal Babu was rounded up when he came out of his coaching centre and soon a crowd gathered at the spot.

Reportedly, the kidnappers opened fire to scare away the crowd.
Although the police nabbed Babu, they could not foil the child marriage that was conducted earlier. However, after instant investigations, the child bride was also arrested.

It was also confirmed by the police officials that both girl and boy were below the legal age of marriage, 18 and 21 years respectively.

Police arrested the girl child’s mother along with a few others, who according to primary investigations were involved in the kidnapping.

“We have arrested the girl and her mother as they had a hand in this case of kidnapping,” said Rajvansh Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gaya.
Babu said that he was forced by the kidnappers to perform the nuptial rites at gunpoint.

“They asked me to sit for marriage. When I refused, they scared me with a gun and said that will kill me if I don’t obey. They made me perform all the rituals and including the application of vermilion at gunpoint,” said Babu.

The Indian Child Marriage (Prevention) Act terms wedding of boys less than 21 years and girls less than 18 as illegal.

The law is applicable to all communities and the parents who solemnise child marriages can be jailed upto two years.

Despite being illegal since 1929, child marriage is still rampant in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. (ANI)
