Jennifer Aniston keeps fit by running around horse track

Washington, September 20 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston has been running hard to maintain her fitness while shooting new film ‘The Bounty.’

The actress reportedly woke up at 5a.m in the morning and ran laps around New Jersey’s Monmouth Park racecourse to the surprise of the crewmembers.

“She showed up every morning at 5am to run laps on the giant oval for a solid hour before cameras rolled,” Contactmusic quoted a source as saying.

“She’s really disciplined about keeping fit. She’d get there before everyone else and zip around that huge track like a winner!” the source added.

The ‘Break-Up’ star apparently prefers running to other fitness regimes as it keeps her thighs and calves toned.

Even earlier this year, it was reported that she woke up at 3am to work out so that she could stick to her busy shooting schedule.

A source said at the time: “Jennifer has had a totally overhaul for this film. She wants to be seriously fit, yet remain curvy.

“There are a lot of early starts on set, so she has had to get up at 3am to get two hours in the gym before getting ready for filming.” (ANI)

Ship used in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ stolen

London, September 14 (ANI): The ship used in the film Pirates of the Caribbean has been stolen.

The vessel was legged from Customhouse Quay in Greenock Renfrewshire.

The raiders also took some cash, an 8x12ft American flag, a survival suit and a life ring.

But the US flag, an immersion suit and a life belt were all later recovered.

The ship, which was built for Marlon Brando’s 1962 movie Mutiny on the Bounty, has apparently sailed the world as a major tourist attraction.

“It is unbelievable. This ship has sailed all around the world and has never been robbed. But as soon as it gets into Greenock it gets turned over,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

The theft took place on Saturday morning, only few hours after arriving to give Scottish fans a rare glimpse on board.

Captain Robin Walbridge – who has skippered it since 1995 – said: “We don’t hold this against the people of Greenock.”

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: “Inquiries are on-going.”

The replica vessel had featured in Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead Man’s Chest. (ANI)

Aniston says falling in love is like buying house

London, September 10 (ANI): Actress Jennifer Aniston thinks falling in love is like buying a house.

“Sometimes, you buy and sometimes you’re renting and then you rent and you fall in love with it and you buy,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

The actress is reportedly linked to her ‘The Bounty’ so-star Gerard Butler.

Aniston had recently said: “I think it’s important to have closure in any relationship that ends-from a romantic relationship to a friendship.

“You should always have a sense of clarity at the end and know why it began and why it ended. You need that in your life to move cleanly into your next phase.” (ANI)

Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler spotted ‘holding hands’ in New York

Washington, Aug 25 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler have fuelled rumours they are dating.

The co-stars, who are currently filming comedy ‘The Bounty’ in New York, were seen ‘hand in hand’ at The Jane Hotel.

“They had cocktails and… they were hand in hand,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling People.com.

However, the former Friends star’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, insists gossips are taking the couple’s friendship too far, insisting Butler and Aniston were not dining alone; they were out with friends including Kirsten Dunst.

“They were not holding hands and Gerry was one of the many people there,” Huvane said. (ANI)

Fazlullah hiding in Peochar, would be arrested soon: Malik

Islamabad, July 28 (ANI): Swat Taliban chief Mullah Fazlullah aka Radio Mullah is injured and is hiding in the terrains of Peochar along with his close aides, Interior Advisor Rehman Malik has said.

Malik claimed the security forces have surrounded Fazlullah and his accomplices, and that they would be arrested soon.

However, neither the Pakistan government nor the Army was able to confirm the reports.

Recently, Mingora residents said they had heard Fazlullah over his illegal FM radio station, but it could not be confirmed whether the broadcast was live or a pre-recorded one.

Talking to a private television channel Malik said the military offensive against the Taliban and other extremists have been successful and nearing its end.

He also rejected reports that the Taliban fighters were hiding still hiding in the Swat and Malakand Divisions and planning to regroup themselves once military moves out.

“Now there is no danger of the terrorists regrouping,” The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying. (ANI)

Osama’s cook coming to New York to face charges in embassy bombing

Washington, May 22 (ANI): Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden’s former Tanzanian cook is coming to New York to face charges for his role in the bombings of two U.S. embassies in East Africa 11 years ago, President Obama announced Thursday.

Ahmed Kalfan Ghailani will be moved from Guantanamo Bay as part of Obama’s controversial order to shut down the U.S. terror prison camps in Cuba over the objections of many lawmakers from both parties.

“Preventing this detainee from coming to our shores would prevent his trial and conviction,” Obama said in a Washington speech.

The baby-faced and diminutive Ghailani – known as “Foopie” – faced a bounty of 25 million dollars when he was nabbed in July 2004 after a 12-hour shootout at an Al Qaeda safe house in Pakistan.

Ghailani rose from an Al Qaeda “rank-and-file soldier” in Afghanistan before 9/11 to become Bin Laden’s cook and his most prolific passport forger and travel agent, according to a Directorate of National Intelligence biography.

Four other plotters were convicted in federal trials in the city for the Aug. 7, 1998, bombings of U.S. embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya, which killed a dozen Americans and 211 others.

Ghailani was among the original 22 “most wanted” terrorists designated by ex-President Bush’s FBI after 9/11, even though the government admits he “was not directly involved in operational planning” by Al Qaeda. (ANI)

Zawahiri in Pakistan, claims report

Washington, May 13 (ANI): Al-Qaeda second man in command, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, has reportedly taken refuge near Balochistan capital Quetta.

A Washington Times report quoted a “highly placed Pakistani intelligence source” as saying that Zawahiri, who is carrying a 25 million dollar bounty, roams freely along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

According to the report, after Zawahiri was forced to flee to South Waziristan due to the continuous US drone strikes, he moved to Balochistan and then crossed into Afghanistan.

The sources claimed that he may have returned to Pakistan in December or January earlier this year, and has relocated recently near Quetta.

They also claimed that Zawahiri is living a camouflaged existence in the region and dresses similar to the people of the region.

He is not accompanied by a large entourage, which was seen earlier, and is only guarded by Egyptians. (ANI)

Terrence Howard livid at bosses for axing him from Iron Man sequel

Washington, April 23 (ANI): Terrence Howard is livid at studio bosses for dropping him out of the Iron Man sequel over alleged money stakes.

The Crash star was shocked to know that he would not reappear in the follow up after Don Cheadle had been signed to portray Iron Man/ Tony Stark’s best pal Jim Rhodes.

The actor accused the movie’s Marvel studio for abandoning his contract and going back on their word.

“(Producers) made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice. They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honour my contract. They produced a great bounty with the first one but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling Parade.com.

The 40-year-old further revealed who all had faced the axe with him, adding: “They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow, from what I’ve been told. They did it with almost everyone except Robert Downey.” (ANI)

Australia set to outlaw motorcycle crime gangs

Sydney – Two of Australia’s biggest motorcycle gangs could soon be banned and their members arrested for associating with one another under new laws.

New South Wales Assistant Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said Wednesday that a wave of arrests in Sydney had laid the groundwork to push through legislation proposed last week after violent clashes between gangs.

“The new legislation was about declaring a particular organization a criminal group, and I would say that this is a path that we will now be able to go down as a result of these arrests,” Burn told reporters.

The Rebels and the Comanchero are likely to be the first gangs proscribed. Police could then arrest any member wearing gang colours or associating with other known gang members.

Comanchero boss Mahmoud Hawi, 28, is among more than a dozen motorcycle gang members picked up since a March 22 clash at Sydney’s airport that resulted in Hell’s Angels Anthony Zervas being bludgeoned to death in front of horrified travellers in the crowded arrival hall.

A week after Zervas was bashed to death, an unknown gunman put eight bullets into his brother, Peter Zervas, 35, as he sat in his car.

Zervas left hospital Tuesday against doctors’ orders and went into hiding. He declined police protection.

Hawi, who had been in hiding before giving himself up to police, did not seek bail while he awaits a court appearance on charges related to the airport bashing.

Hawi is said to have a big bounty on his head and might prefer police custody rather than being free on bail and a target for rival gangs.

Craig Caldicott, a lawyer who has represented gang members, claimed that motorcycle gangs are only engaged in “the promotion of interest in motorcycles of British or American make.”

Police said they believe otherwise, alleging that running drugs and protection rackets are the core business of the motorcycle gangs and that the upsurge in violence is a result of turf wars between gangs for control of the illicit drug trade.

Burns said two of the recent arrests were linked to “controlled drug purchases from alleged drug suppliers” that police arranged to gather evidence.

“We are alleging that two of the people have links to Rebels OMCG [Outlaw Motorcycle Gang] and one has links to Comanchero OMCG,” she said.

Police have beefed up security around local politicians for fear there will be reprisals. The Defence Force has also increased patrols at its weapons stores in case gangs raid military installations to add to their armouries.

There are reports of gangs buying up weapons on the black market and of gang members arriving in Australia from affiliates abroad to add muscle as their rivalries intensify. (dpa)

Sonia lays down line as UP unit ropes in ‘Bush-haters’

At a time when the Congress, in the run-up to the elections, seeks to showcase the Indo-US nuclear deal as one of its major contributions towards achieving energy security, party president Sonia Gandhi has taken a dim view of the party’s Uttar Pradesh unit’s decision to stitch up an alliance with a Muslim organisation whose president had offered bounties for beheading former US President George W Bush and Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen.

Party sources said Sonia was “upset” about the embarrassing episode of the party providing platform to Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) president Tauqeer Raza Khan at party headquarters without checking his antecedents and credentials. Khan had reportedly offered Rs 5 lakh as bounty to anyone who beheads Nasreen and, by his own admission at the press conference at the Congress headquarters on March 26, Rs 25 crore to anyone who beheads Bush.

AICC general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh Digvijay Singh and state PCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who had ushered Khan to the party’s press briefing to announce his support to the Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, were found clueless when asked about Khan’s announcements regarding Bush. Although Singh had dissociated the party from this, Khan had admitted that he had offered the bounty for Bush’s head.

Party sources said even Sonia had not been informed about Khan’s antecedents and she was upset about it.

She has issued instructions that the announcement about those joining the Congress or extending their support to the party should be made at the state level, and not at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, except in cases involving some prominent leaders, it was reliably learnt. At a 90-minute meeting with party spokespersons on Wednesday, she also expressed her disapproval of AICC general secretaries and state presidents showing up at press briefings.

At the meeting the Congress president was said to have instructed the spokespersons not to make “personal attacks” (on opposition leaders) and rather focus on highlighting the achievements of the UPA Government.

Police nab three Maoist rebels in Bihar

Gaya, Mar 16 (ANI): Police arrested three rebels including one with a bounty on his head from Gaya in Bihar.

Officials said Sajiwan Baitha alias Bhupendra, a top rebel functionary, who has been evading arrest since 1992, was arrested on a tip-off.

“We received information that Baitha and his associates came to extort money from a villager. Police team arrested him with the help of Special Task Force. During interrogation, he revealed his involvement in various Maoist activities. Police also recovered extortion money and some Maoist literature,” said M R Nayak, superintendent of police, Gaya.

The government had declared a bounty of 25,000 rupees for Baitha’s arrest.

Baitha said he was working as a secretary in one of the zones.

“In our village, people torture and suppress poor, so I became a Maoist. I was working as the secretary of the Magadh Zone Committee,” said Baitha.

The rebels say they are fighting for the rights of the poor and landless. They usually operate in a large swathe of the country stretching from the east to some southern states.

Thousands of people have been killed since the Maoists began their insurgency in the late 1960s in a town called Naxalbari in West Bengal.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called the rebels the biggest challenge to the country’s internal security. (ANI)

US unhappy with UK decision to reach out to Hizbullah

Jerusalem, Mar 14 (ANI): A senior US official has expressed strong disagreement with the British decision to begin contacts with Lebanese terror group Hizbullah.

The British Government hold an opposing view of the terror group, and this is their basis for dealing with the political organization.

President Barack Obama’s Administration does not view Hizbullah as an entity with separate military, political and social wings, according to a top US official.

Hizbullah, which is now part of the Lebanese Government, is officially listed in the US as a terror organization.

“We don’t see the differences between the integrated leadership that they see,” the Los Angeles Times quoted the official, as saying.

Gordon Duguid, a State Department spokesman, said last week that the US was not ready to follow the British example, but did not criticize the British decision.

The Obama Administration’s readiness to reach out to adversary regimes, such as Syria and Iran, has been a hallmark of its new foreign policy, but this has so far not extended to groups on its official terrorist registry, such as Hizbullah and Hamas.

A State Department official explained that the difference is that governments such as Syria and Iran, though they may support terrorism, can be productively engaged because as governments they can be swayed on the basis of their national interest.

Unlike terrorist groups, “they have the interests of states and may respond to interaction,” the official said.

The US official said he was appalled that Hizbullah has been hanging posters in Lebanon celebrating Imad Mughniyeh, an accused terrorist mastermind that the group has long insisted was not connected to their organization.

Mughniyeh, assassinated in Damascus in February 2008, was held responsible for a long list of terrorist attacks and also had a US bounty on his head, The Jerusalem Post reported. (ANI)

PCB’s 1 million rupee bounty for ‘triple centurion’ Younis Khan

Karachi, Feb.26 (ANI): Recognising captain Younis Khan’s match saving triple century, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a reward of one million rupees for him.

After reaching the feat, on the fourth day of the match, Khan said that he wanted to break Brian Lara’s record of 400 not out, but missed out on the opportunity.

He is the third Pakistani cricket player after Hanif Muhammad (337 against West Indies at Barbados in 1958), and Inzamam-ul-Haq (329 against New Zealand at Lahore in 2002) to hit a triple century. (ANI)

Bopara over the moon with 450,000 dollars IPL bounty

London, Feb 7 (ANI): English all rounder Ravi Bopara was happy to be picked by an Indian Premier League team to play this year, but was a bit surprised to fetch 450,000 dollars in the IPL players auction.

The Kings XI Punjab bought the Essex all-rounder for 450,000 dollars in the player auction on Friday.

And after seeing England teammates Samit Patel and Luke Wright failed to get any interest, Bopara admits he was simply relieved to get picked at all.

“I was so keen to play in it last year. But it wasn’t to be. I’m just so excited to be in it this year, I’d have been happy to go for 150,000 dollars. But 450,000 dollars surprised me a bit and I’m not complaining,” The Sun quoted Bopara, as saying.

“It’s good news. I don’t want to concentrate on the price so much. I’m just delighted to be involved. I sat and watched the auction and as soon as someone put their finger up and said ‘we’ll have him for 150,000 dollars I was happy,” he said.

“There was a bit of a bidding war and I was quite nervous which was weird. Everybody is keen to get involved in the IPL because it is jazzed up and you are playing against and alongside the best players in the world,” Bopara added. (ANI)
