Now LiLo parties with her bodyguard!

New York, May 7 (ANI): Lindsay Lohan was recently spotted partying with a bodyguard.

The ‘Mean Girls’ star popped into Las Palmas in Los Angeles for a birthday party for Katy Perry sidekick Markus Molinari with a 6-foot, 300-pound bouncer in a T-shirt that read, “Big Monster.”

“Wherever Lindsay went, he went,” the New York Post quoted a spy as saying.

The insider saw the bouncer get surly with a photographer trying to approach the starlet.

In fact, Lindsay’s mom Dina Lohan was also at the party. (ANI)

Rooney dazed as 17-year-old clubber dies next to him

London, Apr 27 (ANI): Ace striker Wayne Rooney, who was celebrating winning PFA Player of the Year, was left dazed after a 17-year-old clubber partying yards away from him collapsed and died.

Cole and Rooney were out with brother Graeme celebrating winning the award earlier that night. The Manchester United star was escorted out by a bouncer and then quizzed by police as a potential witness.

Rooney and Chelsea left-back Cole were said to have been nearby when the Portuguese tourist suffered a suspected heart attack at London’s swanky Whisky Mist at around 1.20 am on Tuesday.

The teen, said to have a history of health problems, was carried out by bouncers and given a Red Bull energy drink in an attempt to revive him, The Sun reports.

Paramedics were called and carried out heart massage with a defibrillator on the pavement. He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead soon after arrival.

A spokesman for Rooney said: “As Wayne was leaving he was asked, as were all other guests, whether he had seen anything. He simply told police he had seen nothing and was not aware of any incident.”

Cole, 29, also said he did not see anything suspicious.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs after it was reported the boy had been passed something. (ANI)

Roach to join Gayle in WA

West Indies skipper Chris Gayle will return to Western Australia next summer to suit up for the Warriors’ Twenty20 campaign and will bring lightning quick Kemar Roach along for the ride.

Gayle was restricted to just two games for WA last summer after picking up a side strain in his first outing for the Warriors.

But the 30-year-old still made a sizeable impact, hammering 40 off just 16 balls against South Australia.

Roach has quickly become of the most exciting pacemen in the Test arena.

The 21-year-old has taken 20 wickets in five Tests and injured Australian captain Ricky Ponting last summer with a fearsome bouncer.

“In Chris Gayle we have secured one of the game’s best Twenty20 players for the second successive season, while Kemar Roach is one of the most promising young pacemen in world cricket,” WACA chief executive Graeme Wood said.

“It has been extremely disappointing to miss out on the opportunity to compete at the first two Champions League Twenty20 tournaments.

“We strongly believe that with Chris and Kemar added to the exciting local talent in the Warriors’ squad, we can give ourselves a great chance of qualifying for the 2011 edition.”

Gayle, Roach to play for Western Australia in Twenty20

Sydney, Mar 30 (ANI): West Indies captain Chris Gayle will return to Western Australia next summer to play for the Warriors’ Twenty20 campaign. Fast bowler Kemar Roach will also join him.

Gayle was restricted to just two games for WA last summer after picking up a side strain in his first outing for the Warriors.

But the 30-year-old still made a sizeable impact, hammering 40 off just 16 balls against South Australia, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Bresnan can fill in Andrew Flintoff’s boots

London, Mar 26 (ANI): England coach Andy Flower has heaped praise on Tim Bresnan for his starring role in the one-day and Test series wins over Bangladesh, and said the Yorkshire all-rounder has what it takes to fill Andrew Flintoff’s boots.

Bresnan, 25, has demonstrated an uncanny familiarity with the attributes Flintoff showed when he rose to the top in the middle of the last decade.

Flower is expected to revert to four bowlers this summer, Bresnan’s 91 in the second Test has seen the England coach earmark him as a future world-class all-rounder, The Sun reports.

He said: “Bresnan was the stand-out bowler here. He’s been skilful with reverse swing and accurate with a heavy bouncer. He’s hard physically too. The experience he got playing a part in our wins was valuable.

“I was happy with his batting too. He managed his innings well and built it. He’s not had many chances and I’d like to see him develop it more. His defence was very good. I don’t know if he can do that in more pressing situations, we’ll have to see.”

Although Bangladesh may represent the weakest opponents during Flower’s 12-month tenure as full-time England coach, he said his side is improving.

“If I’m honest, we’ve a way to go before we catch the world’s best sides. We know that from our standing in the rankings at No 5. There is a lot of hard work and thought that must go into making us a far stronger unit.

“We have a busy schedule with the World Twenty20, Bangladesh and Pakistan before Australia next winter. While the next Ashes are important, we must win along the way to build the confidence needed,” Flower said. (ANI)

‘Fake music producer’ denies fraud

A Sydney court has heard that a man will plead not guilty to fraud after accusations he made $6.5 million by pretending to be a music producer.

Dimitri de Angelis was arrested at his Turramurra home on Friday night.

Police say he used fake documents to convince would-be singers he was a music producer.

De Angelis was charged with 27 counts of fraud. Today at Central Local Court, prosecutors laid an extra two charges against him.

De Angelis’ lawyer said the 44-year-old would plead not guilty to all charges and asked for a bail application hearing.

He also told the court de Angelis is no fraud, having published 10 music CDs.

The prosecutor said de Angelis has a criminal record in Western Australia where he once worked as a bouncer, but police are yet to provide the court with details of that charge.

The magistrate ordered the prosecutor to find proof of de Angelis’ criminal record.

The case has been adjourned for a week.

Hughes ready for Harmison’s bouncer barrage

London, July 15 (ANI): Australian opener Phillip Hughes has said that he is eyeing off another showdown with giant England quick Steve Harmison, who has been drafted into the host squad for the second Test, beginning at Lord’s tomorrow.

Harmison twice bounced out Hughes in a tour match at Worcester and England insists the 20-year-old opener has a clear weakness against extreme bounce.

“Whatever is in front of me I’m looking forward to it – for me I look for challenges and this will be a challenge but that’s what Test cricket is all about – tough and uncompromising and that’s what I like,” The Telegraph quoted Hughes, as saying.

“If they pick him, well and good, but my concern is not just him; but every one of their bowlers. They have three or four other real quality bowlers and so my focus isn’t just on Harmison. You have to play that red ball that’s in front of you and that is my sole focus,” he added.

Hughes has been receiving some one-on-one batting tuition from Test skipper Ricky Ponting.

In several private net sessions, Ponting instructed Hughes on how to be decisive against a bumper barrage – either by hitting aggressive cross-batted shots or taking evasive action.

Hughes, the son of a NSW banana farmer, has already made giant strides.

“I was in grade 10 at school when the last Ashes Test here was played at Lord’s and now for the first time for my country I’ll be walking out to open the batting at the home of cricket,” he said. (ANI)

Premier League players should be allowed to drink alcohol: Gazza

London, May 14 (ANI): Ex-England football star Paul Gascoigne reckons Premier League players should be allowed alcohol, because it is good for them.

The ex-Newcastle and Spurs legend says footballers are under “too much pressure” and their lives should be about more than “just football”.

Gazza, 41, spoke out after helping judge the Miss Great Britain Final 2009 at the Café De Paris, London.

His advice came days after Tottenham and England ace Ledley King was arrested following a night on the tiles.

King, 28, was nabbed outside the Punk nightclub in Soho, central London, at the weekend on suspicion of assaulting a bouncer.

His arrest prompted Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, 62, to call for an alcohol ban at his club.

But Gazza slammed the move, saying: “I haven’t got a problem with players going out and getting drunk.

The Daily Star quoted Gazza as saying: “What does a guy have to do – play football all his life and not have a life?”

But health expert Dr Julian Spinks was less than happy with Gazza.

He said: “It is very sad that Paul hasn’t reached the stage that he can understand the effects of alcohol on the body and the risk that it could be having on his fellow footballers.” (ANI)

Bouncer claims that he was called a ‘Fat Paki’ by football star Ledley

London, May 11 (ANI): A bouncer who was allegedly punched in the face by boozed up England football star Ledley King says he was called “fat Paki” by the latter.

Doorman Wahib Butt claims the boozed-up England ace taunted him about his earnings and hit him outside a London nightclub.

During the row King, 28, allegedly sneered at Wahib and other bouncers: “Do you not know who I am? I am a rich guy and I’ve got nothing to lose. I earn 80,000 pounds a week, you are nothing in your 10-poundan-hour job. I could make you lose your job.”

Wahib said: “He was so drunk we told him to come back when he was more sober. He walked across the road, opened his trousers and urinated all over the pavement in front of everybody. He came back and was so close to my face I could feel his spit on me.” (ANI)

Paris Hilton scared out of her wits in nightclub squabble

London, Mar 28 (ANI): American socialite Paris Hilton was recently scared out of her wits, when a scuffle broke out in a nightclub she was partying at.

Hilton, 28, revealed that she and her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt had been attacked, while they were having their drinks in a Miami nightclub.

Onlookers revealed that the hotel heiress had gone up to the DJ booth to ask for “something she could dance to”, such as Madonna or the Black Eyed Peas, but she was pushed away by a bouncer.

When Reinhardt saw what happened, he waded in to help her and a fight broke out.

The police were called but no arrests were made. No charges have been filed, even though Reinhardt ended up with a bloody lip.

“I can’t believe someone would do this to us,” the Sun quoted Hilton as saying.

“It’s really scary,” she added. (ANI)

Hamilton Test: Tendulkar’s 42nd Test ton puts India in driver’s seat

Hamilton (New Zealand), Mar.20 (ANI): India were firmly placed in the driver’s seat on third day of the first Test against New Zealand being played at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, thanks to a master class 42nd Test ton by Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

Having started the day one run in arrears, India piled up a further 242 runs in two sessions before dismissing both New Zealand openers and Kyle Mills, the night-watchman, in 31 overs before stumps.

With Harbhajan Singh getting sharp turn and Munaf Patel hinting at some reverse swing, New Zealand’s prospects of saving the game were decidedly slim, reports the cricinfo web site.

Tendulkar’s 160 was made of 260 balls and he never allowed the Kiwi bowlers to settle.

India lost Yuvraj Singh to an error of judgment, but that did not stop Tendulkar and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni from adding 115 runs for the sixth wicket.

Tendulkar played some magnificent strokes all around the wicket, including a beautiful cover-drive in the day’s first over.

The partnership with Yuvraj was beginning to look ominous when Martin gave New Zealand some respite. Coming round the wicket, he got the ball to nip back off the seam. Yuvraj watched it all the way and just shouldered arms. The ball took the off stump.

Dhoni edged the first ball he faced just short of third slip, but all eyes on Friday were on Tendulkar as he put the Kiwi bowlers to the sword.

Tendulkar’s 260-ball effort ended with an edge to first slip, after he tried to fend a bouncer down towards fine leg.

Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan chipped in with cameos, the latter scoring 51 and leading India beyond the 500-run mark.

When New Zealand batted a second time, opener Tim McIntosh lasted just three balls. There were doubts over whether the edge off Zaheer carried to Tendulkar at first slip and the fielder himself went off with a badly jammed and bleeding finger.

Martin Guptill and Flynn slowly set about building the innings with Guptill playing some glorious strokes through the covers and working the ball neatly off his pads. The shot of his innings was undoubtedly a swivel-pull for six off Ishant Sharma.

All the good work was undone in the final few minutes though. Guptill was just two short of a half-century on debut when he played a lazy drive at Harbhajan for Virender Sehwag to take a tumbling catch at mid-off and Munaf then trapped Mills in front with the last ball of the day.

The shouts of celebration reverberated around the ground, and the Indians took their time to walk off after a day when pretty much everything had gone their way. (ANI)

Andrew Symonds fails again as Queensland struggles

Melbourne, Feb 16 (ANI): Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds failed again with the bat as Queensland struggled to avoid outright defeat in the Sheffield Shield match at the Adelaide Oval.

South Australia reduced Queensland chasing 333 for victory to 3-88 to take control of the match at lunch on the final day.

The Redbacks dismissed Ryan Broad, Martin Love and Symonds. Young quicks Peter George (1-12) and Jake Haberfield (2-11) both enjoyed fruitful spells.

The Bulls can shore up a spot in the Shield final against Victoria with outright points, but will need a significant partnership between Nick Kruger (42 no) and Lee Carseldine (18 no) to get remotely close, the Courier Mail reported.

Symonds completed an unhappy match by being dismissed for three, and will now fly to Melbourne for a re-assessment of his wonky right knee.

Bowling a series of fullish outswingers to an offside field, spiced with the odd bouncer, Haberfield gradually frustrated Symonds, and it was a comprehensive points victory for the bowler when the injured allrounder sliced to Michael Klinger in the gully.
ruger, however, was on form, and with newly signed Rajasthan Royal Carseldine he took Queensland to the interval without further loss. (ANI)

When underage Hayden Panettiere was chucked out of nightclub

Washington, January 14 (ANI): Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere called the police after she was chucked out a New York State nightclub, and bouncers refused to return her ID last month.

Security staff at the 21-plus venue in Suffern spotted her in the crowd, and questioned her.

Since the 19-year-old was underage, they ejected her.

A TMZ report reveals that the actress saw red when the bouncer declined to return her ID, according to Contactmusic.

Panettiere called the police, according to the report, which then negotiated the return of her prized card. (ANI)

England celebrates exit of Oz batting bruiser Haydos

London, Jan.15 (ANI): As the English squad continues to struggle with sudden departures from their own ranks, sports blogs and newspapers are celebrating the exit of one of Australia’s all time batting greats – opener Mathew Hayden.

Speculation is rife that Phil Jaques or Phillip Hughes would take Hayden’s place, but “neither will give England’s opening bowlers quite so many sleepless nights as Hayden – Australia’s ship has lost its figurehead,” declared London’s Telegraph.
The Times branded Hayden the last great survivor of the team that menaced Britain for the best part of two decades, “a fearsome opener who has left Australia with big shoes to fill”.

Welsh county Glamorgan was the first British side to flag the possibility of a “coup” signing of the burly Queenslander if he was available for a full season.

“If he was available all season, without a shadow of doubt we would have to have a serious look at that,” manager Matthew Maynard said.

But most blogs or media outlets simply described the relief ahead of the Ashes tour that, with Warne, Gilchrist and McGrath also gone, the intimidation of England was over.

Sportsblog likened Hayden’s mark at the crease to a rottweiler urinating on a lamp post.

“He was the very epitome of the Australian way of playing the game; with swagger, self-conviction and an absolute refusal to retreat from either confrontation or the pursuit of excellence,” the blog wrote.

Another blogger described watching Hayden coming out to bat as being like watching a bouncer about to start his shift at the door.

“Ominous, and meaning business, they will do their job, someone may get hurt, then they’ll go home,” it said.

In New Delhi, India’s swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag saluted Hayden, saying he had not seen an “attacking batsman of his calibre”.

“His absence will be felt just as the retirement of Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath was.”

Sehwag, who has two Test triple centuries to his credit, said he was amazed by Hayden’s consistency over the past few years.

“In the last eight years he has scored more than 20 centuries,” he said.

“You can be sure that Australia will not be able to unearth an opener who can hit 20 centuries in the next eight years. I have played eight years and managed only 15,” he said. (ANI)
