Becks censors his Cupid and Psyche tattoo

London, Mar 8 (ANI): David Beckham has revealed his latest tattoo— a Renaissance-inspired body-art of Cupid and Psyche.

The inkwork has been inspired from a painting by 15th century artist Francesco Francia showing god of love Cupid carrying wife Psyche to heaven.

However, the AC Milan ace, 34, has had a veil drawn on her to protect her modesty.

The footballer unveiled the tattoo after his side’s 0-0 draw at rivals Roma over the weekend.

“Perhaps David thought it was a little rude for some of his younger fans,” the Mirror quoted an AC Milan source as saying.

The latest body-art apparently totals Becks’ tattoo- count to 14.

His last one was also based on a painting – British artist Matthew R Brooks’ depiction of a bleeding Christ.

In his memoirs, ‘Both Feet on the Ground’, Beckham said of his tattoos: “They’re about the important people in my life, my wife and sons.” (ANI)

Body as vessel of riches

New Delhi, April 3 (IANS) An exhibition, ‘Body as Vessel’, curated by art historian Geeti Sen, at the Art Alive Gallery April 4-25 will highlight the body as a vessel which can hold ‘untold riches including the universe’.

The body, said Sen, possesses several meanings and has taken a central form in various arts. ‘For some artists, the symbolic and the ritualistic significance of the body is inspired by traditional values. For others, the body has reclaimed its identity, or alternatively the psychic self, deriving from the contemporary values of the individual.’

The show will feature five artists – Anupam Sud, Gogi Saroj Pal, Mithu Sen, Puneet Kaushik and Shambavi Singh.

While Sud’s works will treat the woman as ‘empowered but vulnerable’, Gogi Saroj Pal will explore the metamorphosis of an individual woman’s body.

Mithu Sen will work on fragments of the body and Puneet Kaushik will paint the psychic states which affect the body. Shambhavi Singh will depict the body as a vessel of energies in a series of five acrylic paintings

Getting tattooed ‘a sign of low self-esteem’

London, Apr 3 (ANI): If you think that a tattoo will get you noticed among your friends and acquaintances, then it’s time to jiggle the thought, for a study has found that the “cool” body art is a sign of low self-esteem.
According to psychologists, the art could conceal a poor personal opinion of oneself.

Marie Randle, from Liverpool Hope University, who carried out the study, said: “Tattooing has become more popular in recent years, especially among young women and there is a growing fascination with the tattoos of celebrities.

“The findings of this study suggest that tattoos are not just fashion accessories but driven by a wide range of motivational factors that are significantly associated with self-esteem.

“This strongly suggests that people consider getting tattooed should be encouraged to question their motivation before deciding to permanently change their appearance.”

To reach the conclusion, researchers quizzed 48 people, some of whom had tattoos covering much of their body, reports The Telegraph.

They found that there were four main reasons why people got tattoos – to be rebellious, to belong to a group, for aesthetic reasons and because of a strong emotional attachment.

However, Randle said that not everyone who had a tattoo had poor self-esteem.

“We found that having tattoos was just one predictor of self-esteem and not everybody who has tattoos has low self-esteem,” the expert said.

The findings were presented at the British Psychological Society annual conference in Brighton. (ANI)

Tweed to fulfil Goody’s dying wish by getting ‘Call Me and I Will Answer’ tattooed on ribs

London, Mar 26 (ANI): Jade Goody’s husband Jack Tweed is getting his dying wife’s last message tattooed on his rib cage or across his heart which reads: “Call Me And I Will Answer.”

Heartbroken Tweed is considering getting Goody’s last message tattooed on his body in an old English script style.

The couple’s bridesmaids have also agreed to have the body art done.

Tweed plans to visit his wife’s body one last time, however pals have warned him the visit could make his pain worse.

“Jack feels he needs to say a final goodbye,” the Sun quoted a friend as saying.

“He is so, so down at the moment. He isn’t sure he could forgive himself if he didn’t take this final opportunity to tell her he loves her,” the friend added.

Another friend said: “Jack remains physically very tired but is emotionally exhausted.

“He thought things might get easier after Jade’s suffering stopped, but it’s just so raw.”

It has been confirmed that sentencing for Jack’s assault on a cab driver was put off until April 16 so he can attend his wife’s funeral on April 4. (ANI)

Melbourne, Jan 21 (ANI): Shane Warne never misses any opportunity to play pranks with his friends, and this time the Cricket legend’s target is pal Michael Clarke, whom he’s planning to fool with a fake tattoo arm.

The former Aussie leg-spinner showed off a brand new arm-length tattoo at a press conference for the Aussie Millions Poker Championship, which he is competing.

The cricketer then explained that he was donning the joke sleeve to trick current Aussie cricket star Michael Clarke, who last month hit the headlines with a huge new tattoo.

Clarke’s new ink shows off a guardian angel sitting on a cross, with the initials of his fiancee Lara Bingle inscribed at the top.

And Warne said that Clarke’s new body art was the perfect opportunity for him to have a bit of fun with a former teammate.
