Lovelorn lady gorillas at London Zoo go wild over new guy

London, August 28 (ANI): Just like posters showing football ace David Beckham stripped to his briefs leave his women fans drooling, lovelorn lady gorillas at London Zoo were also found to have a similar reaction to pictures of a continental hunk.

The keepers of Mjukuu, 10, Effie, 16, and Zaire, 34-who have lacked male attention since the death of their silverback mate Bobby in December-recently gave the girls their first glimpse of 20-stone Yeboah, 12, who is due to arrive from France within weeks.

Judging by their reaction to the pictures, they hope that sparks should fly when the new boy arrives at London Zoo.

According to them, Zaire was the most appreciative, as she carefully wedged her pictures into the bark of tree to show them off to best effect.

Teenager Effie was found to tenderly clutch one of the photos to her bosom, but she later ate it.

Youngster Mjukuu also appeared to be delighted at the prospect of a new boyfriend, for she threw her head back and roared with joy.

“It would be nice to think they’ll recognise him. I wouldn’t be surprised if the penny drops when he arrives,” the Daily Express quoted keeper Tracey Lee as saying.

The newspaper further revealed that German-born Yeboah was being shown pictures of the girls by staff at La Boissiere Du Dore zoo in the Loire, so that he would feel at home when they meet.

Lee said: “We think Yeboah will go for Mjukuu first because she’s very pretty and she’s a big flirt.” (ANI)

“Fear factor” fired me to score more frequently for Chelsea, says Lampard

London, Aug 22(ANI): Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has said that the fear of being sold or knocked out of The Blues fired him up to score more frequently.

Lampard equalled Jimmy Greaves record in the club’s all time goal charts, when he scored a penalty in the 3-1 victory over Sunderland last Tuesday, taking his goals tally to 132 in his eight-year career at the club.

The 31-year-old further admitted that he never dreamed of such a strike rate when he first arrived in west London, but knew that he had to up his game when Roman Abramovich took control of the club in 2003.

“Abramovich’s first year was a big year for me, I started to score more frequently. I think it was the fear factor a bit as no one knew whether they would be sold or knocked out of the team,” The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.

“I really took it on board,” he added.

Lampard achieved his feat in 429 matches, since joining Chelsea from West Ham United in 2001.

“It is a great honour to be up there with Jimmy Greaves, one of the all-time great goalscorers. I’m very proud. I would not have imagined I’d have got to that level when I came to Chelsea,” Lampard said.

“I’ve got my eye on who is above me. Peter Osgood and Roy Bentley are 150 – not that I’ve been looking at the stats! Kerry Dixon is 193 and Bobby Tambling is 202. That feels a long way off but I’ll keep plugging away,” he added.

Lampard has scored many memorable goals for the team, but his all-time favourite remains the strike which helped Chelsea win the 2005 Premier League title.

“My favourite goal was the one that won us the league at Bolton. It wasn’t technically the best, but it was such a special one for me and the club. I watch it now and again and when I do, it gives e shivers,” he said. (ANI)

Jackie O had a sexual relationship with Bobby Kennedy, claims book

New York, July 7 (ANI): Author C. David Heymann has come under the fire after he alleged for the third time that late US President John F. Kennedy’s wife Jacqueline and his brother Bobby Kennedy had an affair.

In his new book, ‘Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story’, Heymann has detailed interviews of several on-the-record witnesses who have said that the in-laws had a sexual relationship after JFK’s assassination in 1963.

A neighbour told Heymann that Bobby and Jackie got frisky out in the open over Christmas vacation in Palm Beach in 1964.

Family friend Chuck Spalding revealed that the couple had a very obvious attraction between each other.

“You would have had to be dumb, deaf and blind not to see it,” The New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

However, Kennedy experts have condemned the book and how Heymann highlighted the relationship between the two.

“It’s a new low, and you just wonder how far people are willing to go. [Heymann] is just trying to make a buck. Yes, Bobby and Jackie had a relationship as friends, but [the romance] is a total exaggeration. I feel sorry for Heymann,” said Laurence Leamer, author of ‘The Kennedy Men’, ‘The Kennedy Women’ and ‘Sons of Camelot’

David Talbot, author of ‘Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years’, refused to even comment on Heymann’s tome because he doesn’t believe the writer is a credible source on the Kennedy family.

The backlash against Heymann’s latest book is reminiscent of the criticism he received in 1994, when he first alluded to the affair in an updated edition of ‘A Woman Named Jackie’.

He repeated the claim in 1998′s ‘RFK: A Candid Biography’.

Meanwhile, Kennedy White House Press Secretary Pierre Salinger, branded Heymann’s claims “bull-.’

‘Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story’ will be available on July 14 from Simon and Schuster”s Atria Books. (ANI)

Man U legend Charlton terms Ronaldo’s 80-mn pound price tag as vulgar

London, June 19 (ANI): Football great Bobby Charlton has branded the 80 million pound price tag for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo as “vulgar”.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have agreed to pay the huge fee for Ronaldo in a deal that should be signed next week.

United legend and football director Charlton admitted it was a ridiculous amount of money. “It’s a lot of money, it’s crazy really. If you want to be in the race, you have to pay the price. It seems sometimes a little bit vulgar.”

“But, nevertheless, that is business, I’m afraid. We have responsibilities to our company and fans – and it was decided that Ronaldo could go. It’s an enormous fee. We will be better for it,” The Sun quoted him, as saying. harlton insists there will be no hard feelings when Ronaldo cuts his ties with United and agrees his move to Real.

That could happen as early as this weekend as the Portuguese winger is due back from his American holiday. And Charlton admits only time will tell whether boss Alex Ferguson was right to let him go.

“Ronaldo always dreamed about playing for Real Madrid, so if he leaves us, it’s with our blessing.

But you never know if you’ve made the right decision until the start of the season,” Charlton said. (ANI)

“She was larger than life and even in death we’re finding it difficult to say goodbye,” he added.

Aamir Khan next on the list to be waxed at Tussaud’s

According to information from a source close to Bobby Khan, who supervises the ‘Bollywood’ segment at Madame Tussaud’s in London, the next Indian actor likely to be ‘waxed’ at the famous wax museum is Aamir Khan.

The source said: “Aamir is popular and a Bollywood A-lister. He is definitely next!”

While two of Aamir Khan’s contemporaries, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan, already have their wax figures put up at Tussaud’s, Aamir, who had earlier refused the offer, might agree this time round, with Tussaud’s coming to India. Other well-known Bollywood stars on the to-be-waxed-at-Tussaud’s list include Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif.

A few days back, a wax structure of the Indian cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar, was installed at the museum.

The source also updated the news about Tussaud’s in India saying that Bobby Khan plans to bring the museum to Delhi first, before Mumbai and Hyderabad. The source said: “Bobby is working out the terms and conditions with people in Delhi. He may choose either Saket or Gurgaon. Work on it is slow right now because it’s election time and talks have been put on hold. But after May 20, things are going to move fast.”

Whitney Houston ‘finds new love’

New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): Singer Whitney Houston reportedly has a new man in her life.

The 45-year-old pop star was spotted with a mystery man outside the Beverly Hills Hotel after allegedly spending the night there, reports the China Daily.

“There looked very, very happy together. After spending the evening at the hotel they got up and walked Whitney’s beloved Yorkshire Terrier dogs. They seemed like any other happy couple,” a source told National Enquirer.

Houston, who separated from ex-husband Bobby Brown in 2007, is said to be smitten by the new man. He has reportedly been a regular visitor to the home in Atlanta, Georgia, she is currently renting.

“Whitney has finally gotten Bobby out of her system and she is clean of drugs. She’s in a much healthier place than she was a couple of years ago, hopefully this could be the start of something great for Whitney,” the source added. (ANI)

Jindal advises Cheney to tone down criticism of Obama

Baton Rouge (Louisiana, US), Apr.17 (ANI): Louisiana’s Indian American Governor Bobby Jindal has suggested that former Vice President Dick Cheney should tone down his criticism of President Barack Obama.

Cheney has repeatedly criticized Obama’s national security policy, saying recently on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Obama’s decisions “raise the risk to the American people of another attack.”

Asked to respond to Cheney’s remark during an interview ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Jindal said: “I don’t think we should question President Obama’s patriotism or his intentions.”

“I think Democrat or Republican, we should all agree that our current president, our former president would obviously want to do everything they could to keep us safe,” he said. “Let’s give the new administration a chance. Let’s not question their intentions. Let’s have a real debate on their policies,” Politico quoted Jindal, as saying.

The Republican governor praised Obama for “showing more flexibility when it comes to Iraq than maybe some of the campaign rhetoric suggested.”

“I am, quite honestly, pleasantly surprised. That’s the kind of pragmatism, listening to the commanders on the ground, I think is very important,” Jindal said. (ANI)

McCain fails to name Palin in GOP star list

New York, Apr.15 (ANI): Former Republican presidential candidate John McCain seems convinced that his former running mate Sarah Palin is not in a list of dynamic governors in the country.

On Monday’s “Tonight Show,” Jay Leno asked the Arizona Senator to name the new guiding lights of the Republican Party, and McCain was quick to rattle off a list of “young, dynamic” governors around the country. alin wasn’t one of them.

McCain singled out Louisana Governor Bobby Jindal, Florida Governor Charlie Christ, Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty, and Mitt Romney.

In case anyone missed his conspicuous omission of Palin, McCain then added, “And I’ve left out somebody’s name, and I’m gonna hear about it.”

Rumors swirled late in the campaign of sniping between McCain’s people and Palin, some of it over 150,000 dollars worth of designer duds, plus hair and make-up, purchased for Palin and her family and paid for out of GOP National Committee coffers.

After news of the pricey makeover leaked out, both camps blamed the other for what amounted to a minor public relations fiasco, timed as it was with the eruption of a full-blown recession and contrasting sharply with Palin’s populist image as an average “hockey mom.”
As recently as early April, Palin’s husband Todd called the decision to spring for the clothes “out of our control,” laying the blame solely on McCain’s strategists in an interview with Men’s Journal.

According to the New York Daily News, there were also reports of McCain aides calling Palin a “diva” and a “whack job” as the campaign wound to an close.

Since the election, Palin has defended herself against charges that her presence sank the Republican ticket. Less than a week after the votes were tallied, she said in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show, “I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign’s collapse than me personally.”

McCain may not share her conviction. (ANI)

Coyotes sink Ducks on Tikhonov’s shootout goal

PHOENIX (Reuters) – Viktor Tikhonov’s shootout goal enabled the Phoenix Coyotes to close out their season with a 5-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

Tikhonov scored the game-winner in the fourth round of the shootout against Ducks netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

“I made the save, but my pad went in the net and the puck just kinda followed — a bit lucky but that’s just the way it goes,” Giguere told reporters.

Steven Reinprecht had two power-play goals, a shootout goal and two assists for Phoenix (36-39-7), which finished out of the playoff picture.

“We wanted to end (the season) on a high,” Reinprecht said. “It was fan appreciate night so we wanted to come out and play well and get the win. We did so that was great.”

Todd Fedoruk and Enver Lisin also scored for the Coyotes, who led 4-2 after two periods.

Playoff-bound Anaheim (42-33-7) tied the score with two goals in 45 seconds in the third period, Bobby Ryan firing the first on a power play 5:02 into the period and Teemu Selanne netting the second.

Erik Christensen and Corey Perry had Anaheim’s other goals.

“We got ourselves in the playoffs now,” the Ducks’ Scott Niedermayer said. “We should be excited about that and to see how good we are.”

Cheers And Tears As Jade Cortege Passes By

Hundreds of people have turned out to watch reality TV star Jade Goody’s funeral procession through the streets of south east London. Skip related content

Her grandparents looked on as her plain white coffin was carried from F A Albin and Son in Bermondsey and placed in a vintage Rolls Royce hearse.

Sky News Entertainment correspondent Matt Smith, at the scene, said Jade was very close to her grandparents.

“They were the people she most identified with,” he said.

Earlier flowers were laid in the street outside the funeral directors, many with warm tributes to Jade.

A staff member at F A Albin said they had “never known anything like it, not in 20 years”.

Police stopped traffic as the cortege made its way through Bermondsey, where Jade grew up, in wet, gloomy conditions.

Many well-wishers tossed flowers into the hearse as it passed by. Others stood applauding in the rain.

The funeral cortege is tracing the geography of Jade’s life as it makes its way to St John The Baptist Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

As it travelled through Bermondsey it stopped at The Blue Market where Jade’s family used to have a stall.

Funeral director Barry Albin-Dyer told the crowd: “I knew you’d be like this. I knew you’d come and say goodbye like this. So from everyone in Bermondsey, goodbye.”

He then released a single white dove which was greeted by loud cheering and applause.

Flowers were collected from well-wishers and some were placed on top of the coffin.

The vicar of St James’s Church, Rev Stewart Hartley, said a prayer before leading the crowd in “three cheers for Jade”.

The cortege went on to pass through the council estate where she grew up.

After picking up Jade’s mother Jackiey, the cortege made its way over Tower Bridge, through East London and on to the star’s former home in Upshire, Essex.

Jade’s sons Bobby and Freddie are not expected to attend the funeral.

They are believed to have gone to Australia with their father Jeff Brazier.

Publicist Max Clifford, who represented Jade, said the funeral would be “a very Jade Goody event”.

Jade died at home aged 27 on March 22 after losing a battle with cervical cancer.

Mr Clifford said he and her husband Jack Tweed, 21, would be among people paying tribute at the service.

“I’m sure it will be a very emotional celebration and tribute to a very special young lady,” said Mr Clifford.

“I think Jade would want people to be laughing and crying and I’m sure they will be.”

Church officials were preparing to erect crash barriers in anticipation of huge crowds.

TV hosts Richard and Judy, the Sugababes, Jamelia and Kerry Katona are expected to be among 300 mourners inside the church.

The service will be beamed onto giant screens outside. Jade will be buried at a private service nearby.

Jade’s friend Kevin Adams, one of her bridesmaids and a school friend are also due to make tributes.

Whitney Houston ‘secretly paid $400k ransom to hubby kidnapping thugs’

London, April 5 (ANI): Whitney Houston secretly paid 400,000 dollars to drug gangsters to save her kidnapped ex-husband’s life, claims a new book.

According to writer David Collins, her former husband Bobby Brown was ‘knocked out with one punch’ and taken hostage at gunpoint by New York street gang called the Preacher Crew in April 1993.

“When he awoke, Bobby was naked and hog-tied, his mouth stuffed with a rag,” the Daily Express quoted Collins as saying in his autobiography, Preacher of the Streets.

Ex-gang member Collins alleged that the thugs threatened to kill Brown unless the ransom was handed to them personally by the singer.

He continued: “The Preacher left the room and his men then terrorised Bobby for two hours. They kicked him. They told him they would kill Whitney.

“One of them put a gun to his head. Bobby was weeping when the Preacher came back in the room, begging the Preacher to let him call Whitney.”

Frightened Houston, who did not report the matter to the authorities, later disguised herself in a wig and dark glasses and paid the money in a duffle bag to 6ft 7in gang chief Clarence “Preacher” Heatley, it was claimed.

He added: “They came to an agreement. She was personally going to bring 400,000 dollars to get her man back. The next day, she did just that. She was wearing a wig. She paid the money. Bobby was free to go.”

The couple put an end to their 15-year-marriage in April 2007. (ANI)

Jade Goody’s £25k funeral to be ‘free’

London, April 2 (ANI): Jade Goody’s family will reportedly have to pay nothing for her otherwise 25,000-pound funeral.

Undertakers FA Albin have allegedly vowed to donate their charges for the service to the late 27-year-old’s trust fund set up for her sons Bobby, 5, and Freddy, 4.

Barry Albin-Dyer, MD of the south London firm, also pledged aid to Jade’s Cervical Cancer Charity.

The Brit reality TV star, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer, had died peacefully in her sleep at her Essex home on March 22 – Mother’s Day.

According to a source, the undertakers felt “privileged” to help the star in her final journey.

“We’re a tightly-knit community and Jade was well liked here. We look after our own,” the Daily Star quoted the source as saying.

Jade had planned her final resting place during her extremely painful ordeal after the disease spread to her entire body.

She wanted to be buried at her favourite church, and had insisted that all those who wanted to attend her funeral were welcome.

The memorial service will be held at St John The Baptist Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, on April 4. (ANI)

Jade Goody’s mum talks about the pain of losing her daughter

London, Mar 30 (ANI): After almost a week of Jade Goody’s unfortunate demise, her devastated mom has for the first time spoken of her heartbreak over her only daughter’s death.

Grief-stricken Jackiey Budden, 50, opened her heart to describe her agony and pain after Jade lost her battle with cancer.

She revealed that, in the last one week, she has been trying very hard to hold the family together because widower Jack Tweed, 21, is too heartbroken to come to terms with Jade’s death.

Budden said that she wouldn’t be speaking at her daughter’s funeral on April 4 because she was afraid that it would be too emotional for her.

Although she has completed all the arrangements for the service, she admitted that the whole task was physically and mentally draining for her.

“I am being a husband and a mother at the moment because Jack is too weak,” the Daily Star quoted Jackiey as saying.

She also revealed that she had had to put up a brave front for her grandsons, Bobby, five, and Freddy, four, while making the final arrangements for the funeral.

Drained Jackiey added: “I have been so strong through all this, but I would just break down if I had to read. All the funeral plans are finished. We’re going to put four big screens up outside the church and there’ll be a long procession. All the readers have been chosen but I can tell you this, I will not be one of them.” (ANI)

Jade Goody to be venerated with a statue near her childhood home

London, Mar 30 (ANI): Late Brit celebrity Jade Goody will soon be venerated with a statue near her childhood home, if reports are to be believed.

The decision comes after Council chiefs were bombarded with letters demanding that the Big Brother star be honored.

The demands by Late Jade’s fans does not seem to be going in vain, as the council has decided to honour her efforts to encourage young women to be screened for cervical cancer.

“The council has plans for the Dickens Estate area where Jade grew up, and I’m sure we could do something,” the Mirror quoted Bob Skelly, chair of Bermondsey community council in South London, as saying.

Jade’s family and pals are delighted by the news.

“It’s wonderful news.” Jade’s spokesman Max Clifford said.

Meanwhile, Jade’s sons Bobby, 5 and Freddy, 4, will be flying to Australia with dad Jeff Brazier in a bid to miss their mum’s funeral, as their late mother wanted them to remember her as a happy, bubbly person.

“Jade is on her way to heaven,” Jeff said. (ANI)

Goody’s sons will not attend her funeral

London, Mar 28 (ANI): Late Brit celebrity Jade Goody’s sons will not be attending her funeral, as they may find it very upsetting.

The decision to spare Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, from more heartache was made by their father Jeff Brazier and Goody’s mother Jackiey Budden.

“The boys are so young – Jackiey said she doesn’t think their broken hearts will be able to bear it,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“It’s also about the safekeeping of their memories of their mum for when they are older,” the source added. (ANI)
