Bhubaneshwar, Aug.27 (ANI): The world’s fourth largest steel producer POSCO has denied reports of plans to shift the 12 billion dollars steel project, India’s largest foreign direct investment, from Orissa state.

Chairman of POSCO-India, Dong Hee Lee called on Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday to allay fears that the company had plans to shift its steel project from the State.

Dong-He Lee during his meet with Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar said the company would commence the construction very soon.

“We have very constructive, productive meeting with the Chief Minister on our mega project. I understand there are some rumours Posco has changed the original schedule, but we never changed that one. Rao sculpted different kinds of idols of Lord Ganesha to exhibit them during the festival. Till date, he has sculpted 36 idols with soap.

“Ganesh festival has arrived and so I am sculpting different models of Lord Ganesha from different soaps. During Ganesha festival people including kids will come to watch these idols. I will teach the art free of cost to kids who are interested to learn,” said L. Eshwara Rao, an artisan.

In Bangalore, a man is running a museum where he has exhibited a wide variety of Ganesha idols for people.

S.Tyagarajan is a collector of Ganesha idols and has put on display 2,000 different idols of the deity in his museum.

He started collecting Ganesha idols after the death of his wife who was a devotee of Lord Ganesha.

Tyagarajan procured some of the idols from his friends living overseas. He says that people feel rejuvenated after visiting the museum.

“I see in everybody’s face who come to see my museum happiness. And they say that there is some sort of positive energy and positive aura when they come inside the museum. And some of them say that here they get a sort of feeling that they felt when they meditated when they come in museum,” said S.Tyagarajan, owner of a museum of Lord Ganesha.

Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the most important festivals of Hindus in India.

On the concluding day of the festival, the idols are carried in grand processions and immersed in rivers or seas.

Lord Ganesha, is one of the most revered Gods of Hindus, and is worshipped at the beginning of every auspicious occasion.

Ganesha, as the God of knowledge is described as “Vinayaka”and as remover of obstacles he is called “Vighanharta”. He is worshipped at the beginning of every auspicious occasion for blessings of luck and success.

The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being.

He is revered as the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles besides being worshipped as the God of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth.

Legend has it once Goddess Parvati, while bathing, created a boy out of the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When Lord Shiva, her husband returned, he was surprised to find a stranger denying him access, and struck off the boy’s head in rage.

Parvati broke down in utter grief and to soothe her, Shiva sent out his squad (gana) to fetch the head of any sleeping being who was facing the north. The company found a sleeping elephant and brought back its severed head, which was then attached to the body of the boy. Shiva restored its life and made him the leader (pati) of his troops.

Hence, his name ‘Ganapati’. Shiva also bestowed a boon that people would worship him and invoke his name before undertaking any venture. By Sarda Lahangir / Jaipal Sharma (ANI)

“No doubt the new cabinet will be balanced one and there will be both new and old faces,” Pyari Mohan Mohapatra said.

Meanwhile, all aspiring individuals have started lobbying hard to secure a place in the Cabinet of ministers.

However, about the role of BJD at the Centre, Mohapatra said that they (BJD) would play the role of a decisive opposition.

The decision seems to have been on the line of party’s stance of not supporting the Congress or BJP-led government at the Centre.

Mohapatra said since BJD had earlier declared that it would not support any Congress or NDA led government at the Centre, the party would play the role of an opposition and fight for the state’s cause. (ANI)

Advani targets government’s policy on terror

Bhubaneshwar, Apr 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday targeted Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for his statement about the need for India and Pakistan fighting militancy jointly.

Dr. Singh on Tuesday said that India and Pakistan should jointly face the scourge of terrorism.

Addressing a news conference here, Advani termed the Central Government’s policy on terrorism was “deeply flawed”.

“It’s obvious from the Prime Minister’s statement that the UPA Government’s policy of fighting terrorism has been deeply flawed. The fact that Pakistan has been the victim of home-grown terrorist incidents cannot be an argument in favour of an Indo-Pak joint mechanism to fight terrorism,” he said.

Advani, who is on a two-day election campaign tour to Orissa, questioned the logic of India joining hands with Pakistan in the fight against militancy in the backdrop of Islamabad refusing to fulfill its commitments.

“I personally question the rationale of India joining hands with a country whose government has refused to fulfill its 2004 commitment to dismantle the anti-India terror infrastructure on its territory,” Advani added.

The attacks on Mumbai sparked tensions between India and Pakistan.

New Delhi said state agencies in Pakistan were involved in the attacks and provided a dossier of what it said was evidence.

Islamabad denied this and asked for more evidence. (ANI)
