Hamilton reconciles with dad, on the lookout for new manager

London, May 7 (ANI): Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has made up with his father after a cold war that lasted two months.

The duo had fallen out earlier when Hamilton had relieved his father and long-time manager of his managerial duties days before the start of the F1 season.

“We have been in contact recently. He”s coming to terms with it. He”s said he supports me. That’s all I”ve always wanted from my dad,” an elated Hamilton was quoted by The Daily Express, as saying.

His father, who had been handling him since his karting days, was stunned at being dropped, leading to the split.

The move has had the world’s top sports managers lining up to for the vacancy. Hamilton did not go in for a replacement, preferring to mull over his options before taking a call.

The reunion does not mean that his dad will play an active role in selecting his successor.

“I’ll probably speak to him, but we won’t decide together on my new manager. I want to set the direction I’m going in. It’s not a weight off my mind. It just takes time. The future’s bright. I’m thinking of getting someone while I am in Formula One, someone who would help me grow as a brand,” says Hamilton

Amongst those vying for the job are leading talent agency IMG and ace manager Simon Fuller known for catapulting the Beckhams to fame. He also counts Andy Murray as his client. (ANI)

Estelle says she’s a big Beckhams fan

London, September 19 (ANI): British singer Estelle has confessed her fondness for David and Victoria Beckham, saying she’s a huge fan of the star couple.

The 29-year-old recalled the day she shot a TV ad with the footie ace before her rise to fame.

“When he walked in I was like, ‘Wow, that’s David Beckham!’ I just couldn’t get my head around it,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“When I met him briefly all those years ago, never did I dream that one day I’d actually get to work with him.

“He’s a true pro, a true gentleman. He’s really warm and friendly. Victoria’s just the same. I’m a huge fan of theirs,” she added. (ANI)

Beckham named third son after Tom Cruise

London, July 9 (IANS) Soccer star David Beckham has revealed that he named his third son Cruz after his superstar friend Tom Cruise.
The soccer ace who is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham became close friends with the “Top Gun” actor in 2003 and got inspired by him so much so that he named his third kid, born in 2005, Cruz, reports thesun.co.uk.

Beckham who has two other sons, Brooklyn, 10, and six-year-old Romeo told writer Grant Wahl for his book “The Beckham Experiment”: “I must admit, when Victoria and I met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.’ And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it.”

Not only this the actor has been influential in many of Beckhams’s other decisions too, including signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy and hiring the same PR firm as him.

Murray likely to become Britain’s highest-earning sports star

London, July 6 (ANI): British tennis star Andy Murray has turned himself into a financial winner.

Sponsors are lining up to offer him deals worth millions of pounds to make him Britain’s richest sportsman, reports The Times.

Adidas, Nike and Reebok will serve the first volley of offers for his shirt and shoe contracts, with the starting price thought to be three million pounds a year plus bonuses.

Murray is signed with 19 Entertainment, the agency founded by Simon Fuller, who discovered the Spice Girls and propelled David and Victoria Beckham to an estimated joint fortune of 125 million pounds.

Murray, 22, could surpass even the Beckhams with a long career at the top of tennis ahead of him. With Rafael Nadal, the world No 1, struggling with long-term injury and Roger Federer heading towards the twilight of his illustrious career, Murray, ranked No 3 in the world, is heir to tennis’s riches. Beckhams ‘rope in Bryan Adams for anniversary special photoshoot’

London, June 21 (ANI): The Beckhams have reportedly roped in Bryan Adams to snap up their intimate portraits for an anniversary special.

“They’re going to pose for some romantic photos, just the two of them, and then have a big family photo with their three boys,” the News of the World quoted a source as saying.

“It’s going to be a really sophisticated because David knows how important it is for Victoria to look classy. The photos will have pride of place in their house,” the source added.

The source continued: “They were originally meant to be throwing a lavish bash in LA but that has since been scaled down to just very close family and friends.

“They want to unveil the photos in front of everyone on their big night on July 4. It will be a very special present and something they will have forever.” (ANI)

The 10 marriage commandments – Beckham-style

London, June 21 (ANI): Ten years down the line in a marriage, most couples find it hard to keep their relationships steady, but that’s not the case with the soccer ace David Beckham and his wife Victoria.

The couple will celebrate 10 years of wedded bliss on July 4 and their love seems to be growing stronger every year.

Now, love psychologist Susan Quilliam has revealed the marriage commandments that keep them together, reports the News of the World.

1 Give each other space – Absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially when living on different continents. While David is playing football in Italy, Victoria keeps herself busy juggling family life and her fashion career in the States.

“Separate interests keep their love fresh and alive. They make the most of, and live for, the time they spend together,” says Quilliam.

2 Forgive and forget – David’s downfall came in 2004 in the form of Rebecca Loos, 32.

“The Beckhams were obviously able to talk through their problems, learnt to understand one another, and then put it behind them,” says Quilliam.

3 Family comes first – The Beckhams have produced a hat-trick of gorgeous sons: Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and break-dancing Cruz, four.

“When you’re in a loving marriage and know you can weather any storm, having a child can bring you even closer, provide a focus for your love and give you a shared job to do,” says Quilliam.

4 Be each other’s cheerleader – The couple idolises each other.

“Victoria’s made many sacrifices, but both have genuinely admired and supported the other. Be proud of what your partner does – and tell them so,” says Quilliam.

5 Dress for marriage success – The Beckhams ensure their glamour dial is always cranked up to 11 on nights out.

“It’s a sign of disrespect to your partner to let yourself go. By taking care of themselves, David and Victoria help keep the lust alive,” says Quilliam.

6 When two become one – Their penchant for copycat behaviour is a sure-fire sign of a successful relationship.

“While individuality is important, their ‘matching’ styles, and the overlap between them, shows the world they have a rock-solid partnership – they think, feel and act the same,” says Quilliam.

7 All you need is love – Victoria and David travel thousands of miles to spend one night together.

“They’re constantly declaring their love. Just saying: ‘I love you’ every day goes a long way in keeping romance alive,” says Quilliam.

8 The in-laws are not the enemy – The secret of a happy relationship is a happy family. With their hectic schedules, David and Victoria would be lost without Sandra and Jackie, their respective mothers-in-law, who regularly travel with the family, acting as babysitters and allowing the couple to spend precious time alone.

“The Beckhams know the importance of making their mums feel involved and valued. They give the family stability and are a vital source of support,” says Quilliam.

9 Never air your dirty laundry in public – Behind the scenes, Posh and Becks have had their fair share of humdinger rows. But unlike other celebrity couples, they’re careful never to argue or criticise each other in public.

“David and Victoria have such a public profile that even the slightest hint of tension would quickly come back to haunt them. They never criticise or bad-mouth each other, and if anything negative happens, they close ranks,” says Quilliam.

10 Spice up (Sex) life – Posh is regularly seen scouring LA’s sex shops and stocking up on red-hot goodies. And David often buys sexy underwear for his missus.

“Love thrives on physical passion. Shared pleasure and sex binds them together and helps them get through stressful times,” says Quilliam. (ANI)

Beckhams ‘plan to put French pad on sale’

London, June 19 (ANI): Soccer ace David Beckham and wife Victoria are apparently planning to put their French pad on sale.

The couple is planning to move to London after Becks’ LA Galaxy contract ends in November.

They bought the 19th Century villa surrounded by woodland in France’s Var region for 1.5million pounds six years ago.

“They fell in love with the place when they first saw it but now Victoria thinks it’s a too far away from the action,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“They’re there now and will come to a decision when their holiday comes to an end,” the source added. (ANI)

Liverpool star Torres marries childhood sweetheart in front of two guests

Madrid (Spain), May 29 (ANI): Footballers’ weddings are usually star-studded showy affairs with mega-bucks magazine deals to match.

Therefore, it came as a surprise when Liverpool soccer star Fernando Torres married his childhood sweetheart Olalla Dominguez in a secret ceremony with just two guests.

According to The Mirror, Torres, 24, snuck off to the tiny El Escorial town hall north of Madrid for a low-key ceremony conducted by a local councillor.

It was a far cry from the lavish celebrations preferred by the Beckhams, Rooneys and Coles.

A source said: “It was hardly a ceremony fit for a superstar. It was small and romantic, but there was nothing glam about the day at all.”

The couple, together eight years, decided to tie the knot last Wednesday before Olalla, 23, who is seven months pregnant, gives birth.

She is not your typical Wag, preferring to stay out of the limelight while she studies at the Spanish equivalent of the Open University.

She said last year: “Fernando is very shy and a very good person. e is the man of my life.” (ANI)

Schemer flogs innocent pics to wreck Posh and Becks’ marriage

London, May 18 (ANI): A conman is so desperate to wreck David and Victoria Beckham’s marriage that he has flogged pictures of the footie star portraying him as having an affair with a brunette interpreter.

He has spent weeks publicising innocent pictures of the 34-year-old footballer with the girl taken in Milan, Italy.

He even claims that the snaps are recent and prove that Posh and Becks are heading for a split.

However, after a few basic checks, it has been found that the photos showing Becks with the language expert were taken following a business meeting several months ago.

Unfazed by the claims, the Beckhams put on a show of unity over the weekend during a romantic weekend in London.

They stayed at the capital’s posh Claridge’s hotel and spent some precious time together.

“People are desperate to dig up dirt on the Beckhams but the simple fact is that there is none,” the Daily Star quoted a source close to the couple as saying.

The insider added: “They face their problems just like anyone else but the bottom line is they are happy.”

A spokesman for the couple refused to comment on the issue. (ANI)

Brits know more about celebs than historical events

London, May 14 (ANI): Call it “celebrity fever” or, simply, lack of interest – majority of people are clueless about general history but when it comes to celebs they’re pretty well-informed, finds a UK study.

According to the research, nine out of 10 adults know the names of the Beckhams’ three children, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, but less than half know John Major was Prime Minister during the first Gulf War, reports The Telegraph.

Shockingly, a third of Britons believe that the last General Election took place in 2008 rather than 2005, but more than eight out of ten knew Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole’s wife was X Factor judge Cheryl.

It also emerged that three quarters of the 3,000 surveyed know Kerry Katona’s first husband was Bryan McFadden, however, 20 percent don’t know February 29th was a Leap Day.

A spokesman for www.triviala.com said: “We were genuinely surprised that so many British adults are confused about general history – even more recent events such as the Beijing Olympics left folk floundering.

“However, when it came to celebrities, all of a sudden our respondents were knowledgeable and inspired, quickly coming up with the right answers time after time.

“Although we were surprised at the greater celebrity knowledge of the quiz’s respondents, perhaps it’s just symptomatic of our celebrity-obsessed culture, with gossip stories rather than solid news providing most of the headlines in some sections of the media.” (ANI)

Beckhams “are sickening”, Cheryl Cole “a bitch”, says Lily Allen

London, May 07 (ANI): It looks like Lily Allen can’t stand British footballers and their WAGS.

The singer has taken a dig at soccer ace David Beckham and his wife Victoria, insisting they are sickening.

“The Beckhams are sickening. Everyone knows Victoria is a monster. I’d rather shoot myself between the eyes than be a WAG,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

Allen has also slammed Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole, branding her a bitch.

The singer even blasted Cole’s footballer husband Ashley, saying that he disgusts her.

Asked what she thinks of Cheryl Cole, Allen said: “She is just a bitch. She represents everything I hate. She is stupid, superficial and as ugly outside as inside.”

When asked about Ashley, the singer said: “He is the worst, he disgusts me. He jumps on everything that moves.

“I am not criticising just to criticise, but I have met him several times. He is revolting.”

It looks like the entire British footballing establishment isn’t up to the singer’s exacting standards.

“It’s ridiculous, I hate it. Footballers aren’t there to show off in London, but to play football. Mind you, they are probably too stupid to understand that. Especially the English ones,” she added. (ANI)

Posh, Becks ditch plans for glitzy 10th anniversary bash in Hollywood

London, Apr 29 (ANI): The Beckhams have decided to do away with their plans of celebrating their 10th anniversary with a glitzy gala in Hollywood, and to go for a low-key private celebration instead.

Victoria Beckham, 35, wanted a headline-grabbing black tie party, but she decided against it as she feels that David, 33, is putting his career and AC Milan football club before his family.

Posh, who had been organising the party with pals Jennifer Lopez, 39, Eva Longoria Parker, 34, Katie Holmes, 30, and Heidi Klum, 35, had wanted the party to give a two-fingered gesture to all the critics who insisted the marriage would not last.

“Being apart is hard for them. It’s the first time in their marriage that Vic has been angry at David,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

“David really misses the three boys and still doesn’t really understand why Vic wouldn’t move to Milan to keep the family together. They are trying to make it work, but the resentments are simmering,” the source said.

A spokeswoman for the Beckhams confirmed the couple would not be holding a big bash on July 4.

“They have some private 10th anniversary celebrations planned,” she added. (ANI)

London, Feb 17 (ANI): Brit magician Paul Daniels and his wife Debbie McGee were photographed mimicking the Beckhams’ Armani ad for Closer magazine.

Daniels, 70, posed in the exact position that ace footie David Beckham did, while McGee, 50, copied Victoria’s pose.

The two have been together for a long time, and McGee says that her marriage to Daniels is strong because of the humour factor.

“We make each other laugh every day,” the Mirror quoted her as saying. (ANI)
