The streets of central Hobart have come alive this morning with about 5000 musicians taking part in the National Band Championships.
62 bands are taking part in the competition which began yesterday and wraps up on Monday.
It is the first time Hobart’s hosted the event since 1974.
The conductor of Hobart’s Wind Symphony, Simon Reade, says his band will headline a public concert tomorrow night.
“A huge gala concert with special guest adjudicator Johan de Meij conducting and the Mahidol wind symphony from Thailand performing,” he said.
“And it’s really exciting, we’re pleased with how it’s going and really looking forward to the continuation,” Mr Reade said.
