Now, ‘Australian Fritzl’ who raped daughter, fathered four kids emerges

Melbourne, September 17 (ANI): Lisa Neville, Australian Community Services Minister, has come under fire after huge number of bungling in the child protection services emerged, including a sex horror case of a man accused of fathering four children with his daughter.

Neville is expected to be faced with calls to resign after revelations of failed attempts by Victoria’s Department of Human Services (DHS) to conduct proper background checks on a known sexual predator before letting a child into his care.

The accused is said to have caged his daughter as a virtual prisoner, raping her almost daily from when she was 11 years old, reports the Herald Sun.

All the four kids bore by the woman, who is now under the care of authorities in a safe house, had health problems when delivered in major hospitals in Melbourne. One of the kids died soon after birth.

Their birth certificates do not hold the name of their fathers, prompting alarms as to why questions were not asked at the time.

The man denied the allegations, but was charged after DNA tests allegedly proved he was the father of her children. He is due to appear in court in November.

Comparisons have been drawn between the case and that of Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who held his daughter as a sex slave for 24 years and fathered seven children with her.

Minister Lisa Neville told ABC Radio: “I was extremely appalled to see the allegations.”

“They are only allegations and are before the courts at the moment and we need to be very careful about how much detail we go into,” Neville said.

“I became aware of this from the media today and I don’t know what, or if, (there has been) any involvement of the police, the department or other agencies … over the past 30 years.

“This will be a priority to look into,” she added. (ANI)

Mickey Rourke, Charlie Sheen named among Hollywood madam’s clients

New York, May 11 (ANI): Mickey Rourke, Charlie Sheen, and several other people from business and sports worlds are said to be among the clients of top Hollywood madam Michelle Braun, who is due to be arraigned today in federal court in Santa Ana, California, as part of an agreement to “cooperate fully” with all branches of law enforcement.

All these names have turned up in records provided to authorities, though no one has been accused of any wrongdoing as yet.

Braun aka “Nici”, who was in the business for 15 years, was caught in October 2007, when an FBI agent posing as a “Platinum Club member” lured her into violating the Mann Act by transporting a woman – identified in court papers as “J.C.” – from California to New York City.

Private investigator Dan Hanks got to know Braun while working for “Fox Undercover”.

“Michelle would ask me to do background checks on potential clients and girls, which I did in order to find out more about her,” the New York Daily News quoted Hanks as saying.

“I don’t know that Mickey Rourke was a client,” said Hanks. “Michelle may have just wanted him as one.”

Braun had told Rolling Stone that Sheen once gave her a 20,000-dollar check for an evening with four girls.

“I once saw a very expensive painting at her condo. She said, ‘That’s a gift from Charlie Sheen,’” recalls Hanks.

Hanks revealed that Braun had once turned down a job to join Courtney Love and her boyfriend for a threesome.

He said that Braun had also requested information on former Yankee Jose Canseco.

“I’ve heard of her. But I’ve never paid for sex in my life. She might have been trying to recruit me,” said Canseco.

Braun’s clientele also includes Jeff Kwatinetz, who managed the Backstreet Boys and Kelly Clarkson, Turkish cell phone billionaire Hakan Uzan, hedge fund manager Mark Yagalla and mortgage brokerage tycoon Michael Fanghella. (ANI)

Hate cleric says terrorists can enter UK in 101 different ways

London, Apr.11 (ANI): A UK-based Islamic hate cleric has said that the Gordon Brown Government’s crackdown on visa regulations is meaningless because terrorists have “101 ways to enter the country”.

Anjem Choudary, a former right-hand man to firebrand preacher Omar Bakri, said there was an influx of people from the Indian subcontinent to Britain, many of whom were angry about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“To say we would stop attacks with background checks is wrong because al-Qaeda are already three steps ahead of this,” he said.

Terrorists in Britain are becoming increasingly skilled at evading border controls, the country’s immigration minister admitted yesterday.

Phil Woolas warned of the danger posed by “clean skins” – suspects unknown to the security services – as he defended the UK’s immigration system after ten of the 12 men arrested for an lleged terror plot were found to have entered the UK on dubious

“This is a big and very dangerous battle we are waging,” he added.

Professor Paul Wilkinson, a terrorism expert from St Andrews University, said banning students from Pakistan would be an own goal.

He said potential al-Qaeda militants needed to be won over on a “hearts and minds” basis.

Prof Wilkinson said: “The UK has a long-standing reputation for welcoming genuine, legitimate students from many countries and it is of great assistance to Britain’s position internationally that we have so many people in key positions in lots of countries who have benefited from an education here.

“Pakistan has the most serious problems of many kinds. Stability there is a major objective, and we should be quietly assisting the Pakistani government in achieving this.” (ANI)

Twelve people are still being questioned after a series of raids across the North West of England, codenamed Operation Pathway.

The exact nature of potential targets is unclear but the millions of people living in the region have been urged not to let speculation affect their Easter plans.

Whitehall sources indicated that the suspects had been under surveillance by MI5 and police for weeks.

One source said: “There was information of sufficient concern that action needed to be taken. Work is ongoing to get to the bottom of it.”

The official described reports the alleged plotters may have been sizing up “soft targets” such as shopping centres, nightclubs and football grounds like Old Trafford as “speculation”.

Greater Manchester Chief Constable Peter Fahy said the public should not fear visiting any of the reported targets of a suspected al Qaeda plot over the weekend.

Mr Fahy said he and his family would have “no hesitation” in using shopping locations such as Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Arndale Centre.

Eleven of the 12 arrested were Pakistani nationals. Ten of them were in Britain on student visas, police said. Whitehall sources say they exploited lax student visa regulations to enter the UK from Pakistan.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK said not enough was being done to carry out security checks on foreign students.

Wajid Shamsul Hasan said Pakistani authorities could help carry out background checks on student visa applicants but were not allowed to.

Asked if there was a problem with the British system for student visas, he replied: “Yes. If they allow us to make inquiries first, if they ask us to scrutinise those people who are seeking visas we can help them.

“But the thing is they have their own regime – the regime that vets these people. They go through a lot of questions and points systems and all these things, which must be ensuring them that they are giving visas to the right people. But unfortunately in every system certain mistakes are made.”

Britain’s top counter-terrorist officer resigned after admitting he endangered the operation to thwart thesuspected al Qaeda plot.

Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick stood down after he was photographed carrying a secret document containing details of the police operation into number 10 Downing Street.

Scottish imams to help police keep young Muslims away from gangs

Edinburgh, Feb.15 (ANI): Several Islamic clerics will join police and youth workers in an innovative new scheme to wean young Muslims away from trouble.

According to The Scotsman, the imams, most of them Scottish-born, will take to the streets starting this week, targeting a dozen teenagers believed to be on the edge of the embryonic Asian gang culture on Glasgow’s Southside.

Their allies, including workers from Youth Counselling Services Agency (YCSA), a support group for young Asians, reckon the clerics will be able to command more respect from youngsters than other professionals, including the police.

They will launch their programme just days after the first serious youth disorder in Pollokshields, home to Scotland’s biggest Muslim community, since last summer.

Four Asians – three young men and a youth – were last week charged with assault after an alleged attack on white men when a snowball fight reportedly escalated into serious violence.

Adeel Ibrahim, a YCSA worker with frontline experience of dealing with young offenders, said: “We really have to nip this in the bud. There is not a lot of drinking here. So if we have the trouble we have without alcohol, imagine what it will be like if they start drinking.”

Two teenagers have died in Pollokshields in the past decade. First, 15-year-old Imran Khan lost his life after being stabbed in 1998 in a gang fight. Then, in 2004, another 15-year-old, Kriss Donald, died after being kidnapped and tortured by a notorious Asian gang.

Donald’s killers were the first men in Scotland sentenced for a racially motivated murder.

The imams about to take part in the scheme, from mosques such as Pollokshields’ respected Masjid Noor, have gone through all the usual channels, securing Disclosure Scotland background checks like any other person who wants to work with young people. (ANI)
