Twilight stars embroiled in pay dispute

London, May 19 (ANI): Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has landed herself into the alleged pay dispute which threatens to delay the final instalment of the movie franchise, insisting the film”s supporting cast “probably do” deserve a wage increase.

Although lead cast actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are receiving multi-million pound pay cheques stars like Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz are reportedly amidst negotiations for higher pay scales.

There is even talk going around about replacing some of the supporting cast if the negotiations fail.

“Ashley and Kellan have agents, managers, lawyers… you get all of these outside influences telling you you should hold out for this much because you”re such an important part of the franchise,” The Daily Star quoted the director as saying.

“Possibly, Ashley and Kellan might not even be all that involved. They have all the other people telling them things and a lot of stuff can get mishandled. There”s so many possible misunderstandings. It breaks my heart.

“It could turn ugly. Do (these actors) deserve more money? Probably they do, on one level. But, if everybody makes so much money then… it”s complicated. What a mess,” the director added.

The film, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’, will be shot in two parts, back-to-back starting autumn 2010. (ANI)

“If she is looking for a new nation to follow at the World Cup, she should look no further than Argentina.

“We play the prettiest football, have the prettiest players, and Argentinian men also know how to treat their women,” he added.

Messi also said he would want ‘X Factor’ judge Cheryl, 26, to join the party if the Argies win in South Africa.

“She would of course have to do the Tango. I don”t think there would be a shortage of Argentinian players willing to help teach her,” he added. (ANI)

Kardashian more relaxed than Dupre during Playboy photoshoot: Photog

New York, April 26 (ANI): Socialite Kim Kardashian was more relaxed during a Playboy photoshoot than Ashley Dupre, says a photographer.

Playboy photographer Steve Wayda also said that Kim, 29, was easier to shoot than Ashley, 24, maybe because of the socialite’s sex tape.

“Kim was much more relaxed right off the bat,” the New York Daily News quoted the master nude portraitist, who recently shot both ladies for Playboy, as saying.

“Maybe that was because of her sex tape.

“Dupre, on the other hand, was guarded. So she was a challenge initially.

“These girls are coming forward and I don’t think they understand the impact that its having, … for themselves and their future.

Flood threat advice for Alice Springs

The Todd River in Alice Springs could flow again within the next few days.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood threat advice for the Alice Springs District.

Forecaster Ashley Patterson says isolated showers and gusty storms could cause the Todd River to flow.

“We should get moderate falls over the Todd River which is 10 to 30 millimetres so there’s a good chance we may see isolated, heavier falls which could lead to localised flooding, and stream rises that affect the Todd River,” Mr Patterson said.

He says a large trough is expected to move across the Alice Springs district in the next few days and conditions are already unstable.

“That trough is going to cause a cloud band to develop in the far south-west of the Alice Springs District late Thursday and then it will gradually extend across during Friday and Saturday and on the weekend,” Mr Patterson said.

“So there is a good chance that there may be some moderate and isolated heavy falls which could lead to localised flooding or significant stream rises.”

Cheryl Cole’s Twitter rant over minus ring pics

London, Mar 26 (ANI): Cheryl Cole has launched a deliberate Twitter rant, denying that she is flaunting her new single status to wind up cheating husband Ashley.

It was rumoured that the X Factor judge was deliberately showing off her bare ring finger.

But in an angry outburst on her Twitter account, Cole said that she’s not playing “some silly game”.

Cheryl had merrily displayed her hand, minus her gold and diamond marriage band, in Paris just 24 hours earlier.

However, she said that it had not been a point-scoring gesture aimed at Chelsea defender Ashley, 29.

The 26-year-old has dumped Cole over claims he cheated on her with five different women.

But she made it clear that she had no intention to not wind him up after taking advice from top divorce lawyers.

“I just wanted to clear up the stories about whether I am wearing my wedding ring,” the Daily Star quoted the Girls Aloud as saying on Twitter.

“There have been many occasions where I have not worn my wedding ring, many of those when I was pictured with Ashley. I find it crazy that people would think I use this as some sort of msg.

“Believe it or not Ashley is fully aware of any situation going on in our personal lives.

“He does not need to see a picture of me moving the hair out of my face to explain anything. It is not some silly game I am playing. That is not me and not my style,” she added.

A spokesman at her PR firm added: “Cheryl decided to Tweet as she has had enough of the sh*t written about her. This allows Cheryl to have her say in her own words.” (ANI)

Confessed killer gets 23 years non-parole

A man who bashed another South Australian man to death and set his car on fire to destroy evidence will spend at least 23 years in jail.

Ashley Michael Warren, 27, confessed to the murder during his trial this week.

Warren had earlier denied bashing Ceduna man Dallas Cooper, 50, and had tried to frame his friend who also was at the scene, near Thevenard.

This week he confessed in court hat he knocked Mr Cooper unconscious and and beat him several times over the head with a rock and a stick.

Warren’s lawyer Sophie David asked the judge for leniency in sentencing, saying the murder was not pre-meditated and Warren had shown some remorse.

But Justice Trish Kelly said Mr Cooper was killed under the most shocking, callous and unbelievably cruel circumstances.

She said Warren’s actions were not a spur-of-the-moment loss of control.

Justice Kelly said the murder was in the mid-range of seriousness.

She gave Warren a mandatory life jail sentence with a non-parole term of 23 years.

Indigenous issues in the spotlight

The Berri Barmera Council is hosting an event in Berri tomorrow as part of National Close the Gap Day, aimed at raising awareness about Indigenous issues, including life expectancy.

Indigenous community development officer Ashley Couzens says representatives from the Aboriginal Sobriety Group, Aboriginal Family Support Services and the Riverland Aboriginal Men’s Support Group will be there.

“We have a population that’s probably 1,000 plus now in the Riverland,” he said.

“We have prevalence of a lot of issues, issues around dental health, nutrition, grief and loss, youth mental health, housing issues, some drug and alcohol issues as well.

“These things can’t be fixed overnight, so what we need to look at it is having the proper resources on the ground to be able to chip away and deal with those issues that make a long-term impact.”

The event is being held on the Vaughn Terrace Lawns from 11:00am (ACST).
