Malaysian lorry driver claims masseuse “nearly molested” him

Kuala Lumpur, May 11 (ANI): A Malaysian lorry driver has laid claim that he was “nearly molested” by a masseuse in Bedong, Kedah.

According to the Harian Metro, the man, who is in his 40s and known as Mail, said his friend had introduced him to the services of the single mother who conducted her business from home.

He revealed that the woman, who is in her 50s, would conduct her massages in a room while her children were in the living room.

“I was told to come for massages three days in a row with each session costing RM30,” the Star Online quoted him as saying.

He suspected something was amiss when on the second day the woman started massaging his private parts.

“She suddenly lifted my sarong and climbed on top of me. What is more shocking is that she wasn’t wearing any underwear,” he revealed.

Shocked by the woman’s actions Mail immediately shoved her away, causing her to fall. He put on his clothes and ran out of the house.

“I am angry at the woman’s action as she had tried to take advantage of her customers. She should have just provided massage services, not sex,” he said.

Mail did not return for his third day appointment.

“A friend told me that the woman only gave massages to men and she had been doing this for years. She is also reputedly very popular with men,” he added. (ANI)

Lahore, Apr.27 (ANI): Former Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan wants the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to decide on his appeal against the indefinite ban imposed on him by the board as soon as possible.

Younis’ counsel Ahmed Qayyum said the PCB is yet to take any action on his appeal and that it should resolve the issue quickly.

McEwen joins wine research board

Rory McEwen has been appointed the new chairman of the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation board.

Mr McEwen, who recently retired as the independent Member for Mount Gambier, is the former South Australian minister for agriculture.

He has also spent five years chairing the South Australian Wine Industry Council and says the experience will be extremely valuable in his new role.

“Now, of course, I’ve got to put on a national hat,” he said.

“South Australia is certainly the most significant wine producing state, New South Wales next and Victoria, but obviously Western Australia, Tasmania, Queensland, everybody has got an industry and I’ve got to now just make sure that simply because I’m South Australian-based doesn’t mean that I don’t focus now and put my attention where the industry is going nationally,” he said.

Federal Agriculture Minister Tony Burke says Mr McEwen’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Australian wine industry, which is attempting to restructure in the face of an oversupply.

Labor pains deliver first Green minister

The leader of the Tasmanian Greens appears set to go down in history as the first MP from the party to be given a ministerial job.

In a highly-anticipated move, Nick McKim has been formally invited to join the Cabinet in Labor’s minority government.

The Greens leader has until Sunday morning to accept the power-sharing offer.

After three days of negotiations, Premier David Bartlett on Friday invited Mr McKim to be a minister in the Cabinet but will not speculate on which portfolio he would hold.

Mr Bartlett has ruled out appointing more Greens ministers for now but says Upper House independents may be invited before the Cabinet is sworn in next Wednesday.

“Tonight I have sent Mr Nick McKim a letter of invitation to join a Labor Cabinet as a non-PLP [Parliamentary Labor Party] member,” he said.

“This has never happened before in Tasmania and therefore we need to tread carefully.”

The offer compels Mr McKim to vote with the Government in Parliament on matters approved by Cabinet.

The only exceptions are so-called “matters of significant concern” in which he can abstain, as long as he consults the Premier.

In a brief statement, Mr McKim says he is taking legal advice about the formal offer and will respond after consulting the Greens’ partyroom.

The announcement comes almost four weeks after the state election which resulted in a hung parliament, with Labor and the Liberal Party holding 10 seats each in the Lower House and the Greens five seats.

Mr Bartlett says he is convinced the appointment will make his minority government more stable and effective.

“I recognise there will be many people who don’t want to see this happen in Tasmania,” he said.

Labor caucus meeting ends

The Tasmanian Government will make an announcement tomorrow about the appointment of ministries in the new Cabinet.

The caucus met for more than four hours today, it is understood the 10 members discussed who will get portfolios, and whether any of the five Greens MPs in the new hung parliament should get a ministry.

There is speculation the Greens could get up to two ministries, including the Premier’s Education portfolio.

In a three-line statement Mr Bartlett said:

“Labor wants to make this Government and this Parliament work.”

Langer’s court date brought forward

Suspended Brisbane Broncos assistant coach Allan Langer will appear in the Brisbane’s Magistrates Court on Monday on a drink-driving charge.

The NRL club stood down its former champion half-back late last month after he returned a blood alcohol reading allegedly three times the legal limit, several hours after the Broncos’ heavy loss to the Warriors.

Langer’s legal representatives succeeded in having his hearing brought forward from April 19 to settle the matter.

The Broncos suspended Langer the day he was breath-tested and officials said they would review his appointment once he had appeared in court.

Chief executive Bruno Cullen was unaware of the change in court dates for Langer.

Brisbane has lost to the Roosters and St George Illawarra since Langer was stood down for what the club described as “unacceptable” actions.

At the time, Cullen refused to be drawn on Langer’s future but made it clear he did not want the former great to be “punished more severely than any other normal citizen would be”.

“Whatever happens it won’t be a [ban] for life thing,” Cullen said.

“Alf’s a wonderful icon of our code and of our club and of the sport.

“We’d certainly look forward to him being around some time in the future anyway.”

Langer is hoping to be back at Lang Park next Sunday.

Ex-Howard minister gets tertiary appointment

Adelaide University has appointed former Howard government minister Robert Hill as its new chancellor.

The former South Australian senator replaces John von Doussa QC.

He will retire in July after six years in the role.

Mr Hill says Adelaide University is financially sound but needs more infrastructure to cope with rising educational demand.

He says one third of students at the university are from overseas, but the competition is getting tougher to attract them.

“You won’t get the same flood that’s come in recent years, you’ll have to go out and compete for students whereas there hasn’t been so much need for competition in the past,” he said.

“I don’t think it’s been an over-reliance, it’s happened very quickly but I think it’s been a good thing overall.”

New Western Power chief promises change

Mark Barnaba has been appointed as chairman of the Western Power board.

Mr Barnaba is also chairman of the West Coast Eagles AFL club.

The State Government approved the appointment.

He replaces Peter Mansell, who has been chairman of the utility’s board over the past four years.

Mr Barnaba will take up the position on April 21st.

Mr Barnaba says he will oversee a cultural change at Western Power.

He says the energy provider does have room for improvement and he is looking forward to leading the change.

“Efficiencies, I think some organisational capabilities that have to be built in Western Power, but I think it’s in a good position now to achieve that.”

The Energy Minister Peter Collier has thanked the outgoing chairman Peter Mansall, but says it is time for a a change.

“There appears to be a little disenchantment, with regard to Western Power, whether or not it is as operationally efficient as perhaps it could be,” he said.

“From that I feel that perhaps a cultural shift or a cultural change in terms of the operations of Western Power and that will emanate from the top.”

MILAN, April 2 (Reuters) – Telecoms operators Fastweb (FWB.MI) and Telecom Italia Sparkle (TLIT.MI) will not be put under special administration over the fraud allegations which have ensnared the companies, judicial sources told Reuters.

A court hearing due to decide whether to appoint a special commissioner to run the companies, set for April 7, has been cancelled, the sources said.

He will stay with the Socceroos until the end of the World Cup in South Africa.

Dr Brukner says it is an endorsement of Australia’s sport medicine

“In many ways, Australia leads the world in sports medicine and I guess that’s reflected by my appointment,” he said.

“Liverpool tell me they did a world-wide search and basically they decided that Australian sports medicine was the best in the world.”

Dr Brukner has previously worked with the Melbourne and Collingwood AFL teams, and looked after various other national teams including swimming, athletics and hockey.

He was also a medical boundary rider for ABC Grandstand football.

The presidents of the clubs decided to approach Mr Lennon after a meeting at Ross in the state’s north earlier this month.

Mr Brady says Mr Lennon will be a strong advocate for the clubs.

“He’s a well known sporting identity, he loves his football, he loves his horse racing and given his experience I have no reason at all to dispute his motivations for coming into this.”
