New York, June 4 (ANI): British actor Orlando Bloom has opened up about his previously undisclosed battle with dyslexia.

During a talk at the Child Mind Institute with Dr. Harold Koplewicz, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ star talked about his ongoing struggle.

“It”s still an ongoing struggle,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

“I have more trouble studying scripts and memorizing lines than most [other actors],” he added.

However, the actor also admitted to a packed audience at Rockefeller University, which included his lady love, Miranda Kerr, that his mother used to help him overcome his problem.

“My mom used to tell me, ”If you read 50 books, I”ll get you a motorbike,”” he said.

“So it inspired me to read a lot and work through [my dyslexia]. But I never quite got to 50. And I never got that motorbike,” he added. (ANI)

Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz to star in final chapter of ‘Twilight’ saga

New York, May 20 (ANI): Actors Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz have been signed for ‘Breaking Dawn’, the fourth part of ‘Twilight’ movie series.

Both the stars will join Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the fourth and the last version.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, stars were reportedly demanding for their price hike but the duo have settled pay disputes over the ‘Twilight’ saga’s final chapter, reports the New York Post.

Movie studio Summit Entertainment, which has made billions off the franchise, has been negotiating with the two supporting characters since last week, but the two actors reportedly wanted increase in their pay for the next flick.

Since the studio did not allow them to renegotiate on the second and third films.

“The studio realized how valuable Ashley and Kellan are to the franchise and did what they needed to do to keep them,” said a source close to the situation.

The duo have settled for 1.25 million dollars per film now, their characters are reportedly slated to get more screen time in the ‘Breaking Dawn’ segments. (ANI)

Twilight stars embroiled in pay dispute

London, May 19 (ANI): Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has landed herself into the alleged pay dispute which threatens to delay the final instalment of the movie franchise, insisting the film”s supporting cast “probably do” deserve a wage increase.

Although lead cast actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are receiving multi-million pound pay cheques stars like Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz are reportedly amidst negotiations for higher pay scales.

There is even talk going around about replacing some of the supporting cast if the negotiations fail.

“Ashley and Kellan have agents, managers, lawyers… you get all of these outside influences telling you you should hold out for this much because you”re such an important part of the franchise,” The Daily Star quoted the director as saying.

“Possibly, Ashley and Kellan might not even be all that involved. They have all the other people telling them things and a lot of stuff can get mishandled. There”s so many possible misunderstandings. It breaks my heart.

“It could turn ugly. Do (these actors) deserve more money? Probably they do, on one level. But, if everybody makes so much money then… it”s complicated. What a mess,” the director added.

The film, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’, will be shot in two parts, back-to-back starting autumn 2010. (ANI)

London, May 18 (ANI): Sir Anthony Hopkins hates socialising with movie stars because he claims “actors are the worst bores”.

The Silence of the Lambs star insists actors only talk about films.

“Actors are the worst bores. You can”t talk with them about anything – except old movies,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling German TV station TELE 5.

He added: “I generally don”t go out for dinner with my colleagues if I can avoid it. It”s always the same in the film business. Everybody must go out for dinner or lunch together but nobody feels like doing it.” (ANI)

Russell Crowe admits to Robin Hood set being fatal

London, May 18 (ANI): Russell Crowe has said that the set of his new epic ‘Robin Hood’ was dangerous – a lot of people from the crew ended up with serious injuries during the shoot.

The Oscar-winner plays the English folk hero in Sir Ridley Scott”s adaptation of the classic tale, which also stars Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion.

The movie includes several high-action battle scenes where hundreds of extras play out fight sequences – and Crowe admits many of the actors suffered for their art on the movie battlefield.

“We had 15 people carried off a battlefield at one point. One guy got his eye poked out with a pike. Another guy broke an arm and a leg falling off a horse. The scale of it is enormous… In this film you had 130 horses doing a full-speed gallop charge into 600 guys on the ground. Every man on a horse did half-a-dozen fight moves before spinning around and coming back,” The Daily Express quoted the actor as telling the Mirror.

Crowe revealed that everyone including the director himself was involved in the action scenes.

“Ridley jumped into the waves and grabbed this 15-ton barge with both hands, bum, knee and all, and starts trying to push it out of the shot. When it was clear he was not going to win his lone battle against the barge he looked back at the beach and said, ”Well, what are you waiting for?” That”s leadership,” Crowe added. (ANI)

Jessica Parker, Cattrall, Nixon admit to on-set rows

London, May 8 (ANI): Stars of hit American TV series ‘Sex and The City’ have admitted that there used to be rivalry between the actors and continuous arguing on the sets – but insisted they are still friends.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon revealed about their rivalry with each other.

Parker and Cattrall were at the centre of a rumoured rift. They had previously rubbished rumours, saying that they are friends who maintain a professional working relationship, reports The Daily Express.

But now they have opened up and revealed about their onset struggles.

“When you”re on set, you”re working 90-hour weeks, you”re never home, you”re exhausted. There are times when all of us have been sensitive and sometimes feelings get hurt. But I don”t have any regrets about how I”ve treated people,” 45-year-old Parker said.

“It hasn”t always been smooth sailing. But the idea that we”re somehow adversarial is ludicrous,” Nixon said.

“Nineteen-hour workdays are stressful, whether you”re driving a truck, working in a coal mine or on a set and trying to be your brightest at 4 o”clock in the morning. But there”s a camaraderie that happened through all of that. The chemistry among the four of us is very strong,” Cattrall said. (ANI)

Indian films banned again in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Apr 27 (ANI): The Bangladesh government has decided once gain not to allow Indian movies to be released in cinema halls across Bangladesh .

Broke Cage loses LA mansion

Financially troubled Oscar winner Nicolas Cage has lost one of his personal treasures.

His 11,817 square-foot mansion in the upscale Los Angeles neighbourhood of Bel Air failed to get any bids at its $US10.4 million asking price this week and ownership reverted to a foreclosing lender, media reports said.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Cage originally tried to sell the property for $US35 million.

The newspaper quoted a real estate agent who called the interior design “frat house bordello” with framed comic books on walls.

The mansion also had model train sets on raised tracks in some rooms in addition to a central tower, a home theatre and an Olympic-sized swimming pool, the newspaper said.

A spokeswoman for Cage was not available for comment on the report.

Cage, the star of the National Treasure action franchise, filed a $US20 million lawsuit in October against his former business manager, accusing him of harming his personal finances.

The manager, Samuel Levin, later filed a countersuit against Cage that accused him of overspending.

Cage a year ago sold his castle in Germany and told a magazine there that tough economic times forced him to make the sale.

Cage won an Oscar for his role as an alcoholic with a death wish in the 1995 drama Leaving Las Vegas.

The actor has also starred in Ghost Rider, World Trade Centre and Adaptation.

Actor Corin Redgrave dies

Corin Redgrave, the oldest member of Britain’s Redgrave acting dynasty, has died aged 70.

Son of Sir Michael, brother of Vanessa and Lynn and uncle of the late Natasha Richardson, he was taken ill at home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“He died very peacefully surrounded by his family. We will miss him so very much,” his widow Kika Markham and his family said in a statement.

As a film actor Redgrave was perhaps best known for his roles in A Man For All Seasons and Four Weddings And A Funeral.

Memorable roles

Born in London on July 16, 1939, Redgrave entered the “family business” while studying at Cambridge University.

He made his professional stage debut in 1963 in Chips With Everything and three years later appeared in his first major film role, the Oscar-winning A Man For All Seasons.

He went on to appear in The Charge Of The Light Brigade (1968) and Oh! What A Lovely War (1969).

Perhaps most memorably to younger fans, he played Andie McDowell’s husband Hamish in the 1994 hit comedy Four Weddings And A Funeral.

In 1998, Redgrave won a Laurence Olivier award for his performance as Boss Whalen in the Tennessee Williams play Not About Nightingales.

Redgrave was also known for his political activism and was part of a 2004 bid to impeach Tony Blair over the invasion of Iraq.

He was also formerly a leading figure in the Marxist Party.

Redgrave’s first marriage to the late model Deirdre Hamilton-Hill led to the births of Jemma, who is also an actress, and son Luke.

He later married Markham and had two more sons, Harvey and Arden.

The actor did not attend today’s hearing before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Amy Pellman.

The actor looked frail when he made a rare public appearance last month to collect a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived at Sarajevo airport on board a private plane from Venice,” said a senior police officer.

They were met at the airport by officials from the United Nations children’s organisation UNICEF, according to Bosnian daily Dnevni Avaz.

Aida Prljaca, UNICEF’s representative in Sarajevo, told website Sarajevo-X that the couple were on a private visit.

She refused to give details of where they were staying, but dozens of photographers have staked out the luxury Hotel Europe in the centre of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Jolie is currently filming The Tourist alongside Johnny Depp in Italy.

Kumar plans his escape from Washington

Nine months after leaving Hollywood for the White House, actor Kal Penn is returning to Tinseltown to reprise his most famous role, the marijuana-loving Kumar in the raucous Harold And Kumar feature films.

As Kalpen Modi – Kal Penn is his stage name – the 32-year-old has been working in Barack Obama’s White House since July as an associate director of public engagement.

Entertainment Weekly reported on its website on Friday (US time) that Penn was leaving to make a new Harold And Kumar movie.

This movie would have a Christmas theme and might be shot in 3D, according to the website.

Penn had campaigned for Mr Obama and took a big pay cut to work in his administration after starring in Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle and Harold And Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay. Penn also played a leading role on the medical television drama House.

The writers of House cleared Penn’s schedule so he could take his new job in Washington by having his character abruptly commit suicide last year.

Penn is one of the few Indian-American actors to make it big in Hollywood.

He has said he was inspired to get involved in politics partly by his grandparents, who marched with Mahatma Gandhi in the Indian independence movement.

The Washington Post reported on Saturday that the White House was declining to comment, saying only Modi “has no announcements to make about his tenure here at this point”.

Anna Paquin reveals she’s bisexual

True Blood actress Anna Paquin has announced she is bisexual.

Her message came in a celebrity-laden public service announcement for the Give A Damn campaign, a web-based anti-discrimination effort backed by singer Cyndi Lauper’s True Colours Fund.

“I’m bisexual,” Paquin said, before adding that “one hate crime is committed approximately every hour of every day in this country”.

Lauper, Whoopi Goldberg, Elton John and Sharon Osbourne were among the other stars who appeared in the announcement.

Give A Damn said via Twitter that its website crashed due to overwhelming traffic following the video’s debut.

Paquin last year confirmed she is engaged to her boyfriend and True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer.

Worthington rules US box office

Sam Worthington has slashed through hostile reviews to score another record haul at the North American box office.

Worthington’s new on-screen adventure, Clash Of The Titans, earned a bumper $US61.4 million ($67 million) in US theatres on the weekend to break the record for the biggest Easter opening for a film.

The record haul continues the West Australian actor’s golden run in Hollywood after Avatar’s all-time record box office of more than $US2.5 billion worldwide.

Toss in the $US370 million last year’s Terminator Salvation earned at the global box office and Worthington has become one of the Hollywood studio system’s most bankable stars.

Unlike Avatar, most leading US critics gave Clash Of The Titans brutal reviews.

“The film is a sham, with good actors going for the pay and using beards and heavy make-up to hide their shame,” wrote Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers, giving Titans just one star out of four.

Ty Burr of the Boston Globe said: “The ancient Greek playwright Euripides wrote, ‘The gods visit the sins of the fathers upon the children’. That’s possibly the only explanation for the remake of Clash Of The Titans.”

But the reviews obviously did not deter filmgoers.

Titans easily trumped the previous record for an Easter film opening in North America, Scary Movie 4′s $US40.2 million ($A43.8 million) in 2006.

Titan’s box office haul was helped by higher ticket prices for 3D screenings.

The film was shot in 2D but later converted to 3D.

American filmmaker Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? came in at number two at the North American box office with $US30.2 million, while animated family film How To Train Your Dragon was third with $US29.2 million.

Voice of Charlie dies at 92

US actor John Forsythe – the man best known as the voice of Charlie in the Charlie’s Angels TV series and movies – has died.

A statement from his family said Forsythe passed away on April 1 in Santa Ynez, California, after suffering a bout of pneumonia.

“He was 92 years old and, thankfully, he died as he lived his life … with dignity and grace after a year-long struggle with cancer,” the statement said.

Forsythe’s career spanned more than five decades.

He started in New York Broadway plays such as the Pulitzer Prize-winning Teahouse Of The August Moon before moving on to live television shows like Studio One.

He was the voice of Charlie both in the original 1970s TV series Charlie’s Angels and in the feature films Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Forsythe is survived by his wife Nicole, son, two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
