London, June 4 (ANI): Actor Brad Pitt will compete with ace footballer David Beckham after the Hollywood superstar joined the committee trying to bring the 2018 World Cup to the United States.
Last month, Beckham officially presented England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup to FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and now Pitt has joined the USA Bid Committee.
“Soccer is a truly global sport and the opportunity to join the effort to have the US host the world’s greatest sporting event again is a great honour,” The Mirror quoted Pitt, as saying.
Comedian Drew Carey and actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger are also on the US committee.
Both countries are also bidding for the 2022 World Cup, as are Australia, Russia, Spain-Portugal and the Netherlands-Belgium.
Japan, South Korea and Qatar are also bidding for the 2022 tournament.
The US staged the tournament in 1994, while England hosted the European Championships in 1996.
FIFA’s executive committee will select the 2018 and 2022 hosts in a vote on December 2. (ANI)

John Mayer’s comment about Brangelina comes back to haunt him
London, Mar 6 (ANI): Even though John Mayer has patched things up with former Friends star Jennifer Aniston, the comments he made regarding the relationship between actor Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have come back to haunt him.
The remarks, which had been made by Mayer, 31, to Rolling Stone magazine in 2006, were reprinted by US websites.
“The gist of his rather smutty comments was that, while everyone considered Brad to be the luckiest man in the world to have got together with Angelina, John thought he was really unlucky as he has no fantasy woman – she was his reality,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying.
Meanwhile, Mayer recently took part in an Internet poll, which had been put up regarding his relationship by People magazine’s website.
The pop star revealed he had given a positive answer to the question, “Is John Mayer a keeper?” (ANI)
