First joint Orc/Neonet business transaction effected
- Cost synergies confirmed
STOCKHOLM–(Business Wire)–
The integration between Orc (STO:ORC) and Neonet is almost finished and the
anticipated cost synergies of SEK 40m have been secured. During the quarter, the
first joint business transaction was carried out after the merger with Neonet.
Orc`s Technology operations are growing further with continuing high margins.
Activities have also been launched to increase the revenues and margins of Orc`s
transaction operations. During the quarter, income was charged with SEK 29.3m in
nonrecurring costs related to the merger.

Adjusted for the SEK 29.3m in nonrecurring costs, operating income was SEK
39.3m. Synergies have thus been secured and costs will decline by another SEK
10m, on a quarterly basis, as a result. Including these synergies, the operating
margin would be 18%.

The annualized contract value (ACV) at the end of Q2 2010 was SEK 750.6m
(674.6), an increase of SEK 76.0m, or 11%, compared to Q2 2009. On the merger
date, ACV in Neonet amounted to SEK 52.1m.

The transaction net was SEK 31.7m (-) and the transaction margin was 35% (-) for
the second quarter 2010.

April – June 2010

· Operating revenue of SEK 282.7m (180.1)
· Revenue growth of 57%
· Operating income of 10.0m (42.1)
· Operating margin of 4% (23)
· Income after tax of SEK 6.0m (31.0)
· Basic earnings per share of SEK 0.26 (2.04)

January – June 2010

· Operating revenue of SEK 453.0m (343.9)
· Revenue growth of 32%
· Operating income of SEK 37.3m (92.0)
· Operating margin of 8% (27)
· Income after tax of SEK 24.9m (67.3)
· Basic earnings per share of SEK 1.30 (4.43)
The Neonet Group has been consolidated as of April 1, 2010. The actual
transaction date was April 7.

CEO Thomas Bill comments:
Due to a good trend of sales in all regions during the quarter, our Annualized
Contract Value (ACV) increased by SEK 19m, despite a higher churn. Positive
foreign exchange effects and customer contracts received in connection with the
merger with Neonet were other contributing factors, and as a whole, ACV
increased by SEK 97m. The higher churn was primarily attributable to operations
that were discontinued because of changed conditions or poor profitability.
However, in our opinion, this does not indicate a long-term return to the levels
of 2009.

The integration of Orc and Neonet is almost finished. We can note that we
completed our first joint business transaction and several more are in progress.
We can already confirm our cost synergies and the new organization is in place
and working on achieving our common targets. We are very confident that this
will lead to solid opportunities for growth, especially for Managed Services
solutions.

We have launched efforts to increase the sales and margins of our transaction
business and are convinced they will bear fruit.

New laws have been introduced in the U.S. and discussions are in progress in
Europe within the financial area. No one knows what the exact consequences will
be. However, in our judgment, the business opportunities created by these
changes will be considerably bigger than the risks for Orc.

With our new common and strong technology portfolio, our concentration on
Managed Services solutions, the new efficient organization and our focused and
target-oriented work to leverage opportunities afforded by our transaction
business, we look positively toward our growth during the remainder of 2010.

If we should already include the secured cost synergies, we would have an
adjusted operating margin of 18%, making us feel confident about reaching our
goals of an anticipated operating margin not lower than about 20% in a weak
market and a potential operating margin of 35% or higher in a buoyant market.

Beyonce’s fragrance turns on the ‘Heat’ in first month with $3m in sales

New York, March 20 (ANI): Beyonce’s first fragrance, Heat, has reportedly made sales worth 3 million dollars in the first month after its launch.

Moreover, 72,000 bottles were sold in just an hour when Beyonce visited Macy”s, where Heat is exclusively sold, reports People StyleWatch.

Apparently, the perfume is a warm floral blend of magnolia, neroli and blush peach, reports the New York Daily News.

In 2008 the average celebrity fragrance made 2.5 million dollars, according to figures from research firm NPD Group. (ANI)

Pattinson, Stewart ‘set to buy $3m love nest’

Melbourne, Aug 27 (ANI): Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are all set to share a new love nest as the couple are looking at a 3-million-dollar pad in West Hollywood, it has emerged.

It is believed the two are currently sharing Pattinson’s hotel suite while they’re in Vancouver, Canada, filming for the third flick of the Twilight series, Eclipse.

And if every thing goes well the two will soon share a luxurious home.

The Daily Telegraph quoted a source as telling American tabloid the National Enquirer:

“Kristen wants a super-romantic place to share with Rob in Los Angeles.”

The West Hollywood pad has three bedrooms, a pool, hot tub and several fireplaces.

“She’s been calling it their ‘future love nest’…Kristen showed Rob the photos and he thought it was perfect. Even though Kristen is buying it, she wants Rob to be happy with it to,” the source added. (ANI)

Big Ben ice sculpture being created in London

London, August 20 (ANI): Sculptors are creating Big Ben on ice as part of a reconstruction of the London skyline.

The sculpture, measuring 10m in length and 3m in height, is being crafted by some of the world’s top ice sculptors amongst five landmarks.

“This is the first time we have been asked to design and produce a project of this scale,” the Telegraph quoted sculptor Duncan Hamilton as saying.

“The challenge to present such unique large sculptures in five city centres, at the same time and on the same day is wonderful,” he added.

Each scaled-down replica, weighing up to a 3.5 tonnes, is estimated to take four men about five hours to assemble and create.

They are to be unveiled by the Smirnoff Co in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool and London on September 11. (ANI)

Michael Jackson’s £13.3M insurance policy in jeopardy

London, July 15 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s 13.3 million pound life insurance policy is hanging in mid-air as officials are reportedly investigating whether his death was “self-inflicted”.

The singer had named his three children Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, as sole beneficiaries.

But the multi-million pound payout due to the youngsters, after the death of their father last month, appears to be in jeopardy, as insurers are allegedly probing the circumstances under which the King of Pop died.

Authorities were said to be looking at the possibility that Jackson did not die naturally, and his death could even be tagged as suicide because of his long running abuse of prescription drugs or that his failure to declare his addictions nullifies the policy.

“The insurers are investigating the possibility this was, in fact, not natural death,” the Daily Express quoted the New York Post as saying.

“Also investigating whether he was totally truthful or evasive or did he actually lie when applying for this policy… Their tactic is gearing up to say his not-so-natural death was self-inflicted by his lifestyle.

“I’m hearing they may go further with the tack that his history of drugs amounts to suicide. The policy does not pay out on suicide,” it was added. (ANI)

‘Frolicking’ Jordan could lose up to #3m if axed from endorsement deals

London, June 23 (ANI): Jordan faces losing up to 3 million pounds if she is dropped from a series of money-spinning endorsement deals.

Some of the former I’m A Celebrity star’s contracts were said to be under review after her recent wild antics following her split from estranged husband Peter Andre.

The 31-year-old, real name Katie Price, has been making headlines with her boozy cruises in the holiday island of Ibiza, where she has been repeatedly snapped frolicking with her hunky friends and alleged new boyfriend Anthony Lowther.

The mum-of-three was photographed behaving erratically after drunken night outs including kissing a pretty brunette, snogging Lowther and flashing her underwear.

Jordan reportedly holds contracts including a 2-million pound lingerie and a 1-million pound bed linen deal.

“Since coming out of the jungle in I’m A Celebrity, Katie has built a fantastically marketable career as Katie Price, mother of three children and a role model to young girls,” The Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“In the space of five days, there is a perception she has seriously damaged that image.

“Katie has admitted she wants to go back to being Jordan, and her behaviour since splitting from Pete has been wild to say the least. She’s gone back to her pneumatic glamour model roots, getting drunk and posing erotically.

“From being a respected self-made entrepreneur, some people – young women and mothers in particular – have turned against her.

“Some things being written and said are fairly vitriolic – and of course companies do not want to be associated with someone the public dislike. Crucially, they invested in Katie Price, not Jordan.

“While she will obviously continue with her own brand products, others are in serious jeopardy,” the source added.

However, a spokesman for the model insisted her deals were secure, saying: “Katie is extremely dedicated to her business and developing it further. Over the past few weeks the phone has been ringing constantly with some new and exciting offers both in the UK and internationally.”

He added: “We’re also confident her lingerie will continue as always.” (ANI)

Joe Cole and Carly Zucker’s £3m wedding

London, June 21 (ANI): Joe Cole and Carly Zucker exchanged wedding vows in a reported 3-million pound wedding.

The football ace, 27, was said to have shelled out the staggering amount for the wedding at London’s Chelsea Royal Hospital.

“Joe was calm and composed throughout,” the News of the World quoted Rev Dick Whittington, who married the lovers, as saying.

The couple had allegedly inked a deal with a magazine for 2 million pounds but pledged to donate the cash to charity.

Carly, 25, was purportedly whisked from her West London home to a secret location so that her dress remained unseen before the wedding.

Guests attending the event reportedly included Cole’s captain at Chelsea John Terry and wife Toni, Man City’s Wayne Bridge and model girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel. (ANI)

Paris Hilton embroiled in $8.3M movie promotion lawsuit

New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): Paris Hilton has defended herself against a lawsuit claiming she owes investors 8.3 million dollars for not fully promoting her 2006 film ‘Pledge This!”

The lawsuit was filed in Miami by Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc, reports the China Daily.

Company spokesperson Michael Goldberg has claimed Hilton’s failure to plug the movie’s DVD release cost investors more than 8.3 million dollars.

In a Miami Federal Court deposition, the socialite insists she honoured her contract and blames her overflowing work schedule for not meeting what she claims were last-minute demands.

“Any chance I got, any red carpet, any press, if I was doing something for another product … I would just bring it up. ‘Oh, my new sorority film, it’s going to be sexy, it’s going to be really hot girls’ — like I really, you know, did my best,” she said.

Hilton’s lawyer, Michael Weinstein added at a pre-trial motion hearing: “She’s the single busiest person on the planet.” (ANI)

Oz granny gets rogue tenant’s $1.3m toxic clean-up bill!

Melbourne, April 12 (ANI): An Australian grandmother has been ordered to pay a 1.3-million dollar bill after her absconding rogue tenant left behind 300 drums of toxic waste at her warehouse.

According to Ruth Browne’s children, Alf Browne and Bev Olbrick, the tenant had violated his EPA licence after piling 50 tonnes of dry cleaning chemical and waste on the premises as against the 1.2 tonnes guideline.

Alf claimed even though environmental regulator was timely informed about the breach, yet it was demanded that the 82-year-old, owner of the premises in Ebden St, Moorabbin in Melbourne, bear the clean-up bill.

Bev added that her distraught mother was ready to face the bars.

“She’s prepared to go to jail rather than pay the bill,” News.com.au quoted her as saying.

David Davis, opposition spokesman for the environment, has laid the entire blame on the EPA, saying it failed to fulfil its responsibility.

He said: “Because of the EPA’s failure to act at an early point, failure to enforce regulations and failure to guarantee that toxic chemicals were not stored in capacities above what was allowed by permits, a landlord is now faced with a very difficult position.

“The landlord here is being told she is responsible, despite her telling the EPA at an early point that they needed to act against a tenant who was breaking the law.”

“What is the point of having licences for the storage of toxic waste if the conditions of those licences are not enforced and breaches not prosecuted?” (ANI)

French workers take managers hostage – again

Paris – Workers at a French factory producing industrial adhesives have taken hostage a number of executives to protest the planned closing of the site, the daily Le Progres reported Wednesday.

The standoff began on Tuesday, when the representatives of management of the Scapa group, which owns the factory, traveled to the site in the south-eastern town of Bellgarde-sur-Valserine to discuss the conditions of the closure.

The factory’s 60 employees immediately went on strike in protest, and then prevented the managers from leaving. France Info radio reported Wednesday that the managers were still being held captive in the factory.

The is the latest incident of this kind, with employees of French factories belonging to Sony, Caterpillar and 3M having held executives hostage in recent weeks to attempt to avoid mass layoffs or to negotiate better severance payments.

According to a poll made public on Tuesday, nearly half of all French adults approve of this tactic.(dpa)

Half of French adults approve of holding executives hostage

Paris – As stories of the extravagant bonuses of executives vie for headlines with reports of mass layoffs, a poll published Tuesday found that nearly half of all French adults approve of workers holding bosses hostage to press their demands.

In the survey, which was carried out by the CSA institute and published in the daily Le Parisien, 45 per cent of respondents said the tactic was “acceptable.”

Unsurprisingly, blue-collar workers were most in favour of the practise, with 56 per cent approval. On the other end of the spectrum, two of three supporters of the right-wing government of President Nicolas Sarkozy were against it.

Since early March, there have been several such incidents in France, with executives at the French branches of Sony, Caterpillar and 3M being held hostage for at least 24 hours by workers seeking better severance packages or trying to prevent a factory closing.

The poll involved a representative sample of 1,012 adults and was carried out on April 1-2.

Winehouse eyes £3m villa in Caribbean

London, Apr 5 (ANI): Amy Winehouse is planning to buy a gorgeous Caribbean hideaway within weeks.

The 23-year-old Back to Black singer is apparently in love with a 3-million pound villa on sunny St Lucia – her new adopted home.

Winehouse, who spent three months on holiday, trying to kick her drug habit, now wants a permanent base there.

Last week, she flew out to St Lucia and told pals she is in the process of buying a luxury seaside retreat.

“Amy has instructed lawyers to draw up contracts with the developers and everything is set for her to buy it. But a few days ago Mitch (her dad) stepped in and said he wasn’t sure. He’s worried about the possible distractions of drugs and partying on the island,” The Mirror quoted a source, as saying.

“But Amy says it’s better for her to be out there than in London. She has managed to get off hard drugs in St Lucia and is living a much healthier lifestyle,” she added.

The whitewashed villa is part of the exclusive Ocean Residences resort in St Lucia’s Sugar Beach.

Set in 162 acres of lush rainforest, the holiday home has spectacular views of white sand beaches from its private balcony and own infinity pool. (ANI)

Britney declines $3M autobiography deal for more money

Washington, Mar 19 (ANI): Britney Spears has reportedly turned down a lucrative autobiography deal worth three million dollars, as she wants more money for penning her story.

Sources have revealed that the ‘Womaniser’ singer asked publishing bosses to come to her California home to talk about a big money memoirs deal to share her life with fans.

They say that the 27-year-old singer turned down multi-million dollar offers from executives at publishing houses HarperCollins, Random House and Little Brown just because the money being offered to her was very less than what she had expected.

According to them, Britney is seeking a figure closer to 8 million dollars for a tell-all tome.

“She was hoping for much more money,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling Us Weekly. (ANI)

A cold as dangerous as a drink when it comes to driving

London, Jan 31 (ANI): Having a bad cold or the flu can be as bad for driving as a couple of whiskies, a new reports has revealed.

According to the study, symptoms such as a stuffed-up head, grogginess and sneezing have the same impact on people’s abilities as a level of alcohol close to or at the drink-drive limit.

In the research, for Lloyds TSB Insurance, one hundred drivers with a range of conditions including colds, stress and headaches and 50 who were healthy were put through a hazard simulator test, reports the BBC.

From the analysis, the study revealed that drivers with colds scored, on average, 11 percent worse – equivalent to the effect of a double whisky.

The study, carried out by PCP research agency, looked at 60 people with colds and flu as well as 40 with other conditions including premenstrual syndrome.

They said that applying the 11percent effect to reaction times would add 1m (3.3ft) to stopping distance if travelling at 30mph (48km/h) – on top of a normal distance of 12m (40ft).

It would add 2.3m (7.5ft) onto the normal stopping distance of 96m (315ft) if travelling at 70mph (113km/h). (ANI)

Crying baby forces car thief to abandon attempt!

Melbourne, Jan 21 (ANI): A thief, who unknowingly stole a car with a baby in the back seat, had to call for help after she would not stop crying.

Thirteen-week-old Elly Harold had been left inside the car while her mother Jodie went to pay for TV repairs at an electrical repair shop at Alexandra Hills, in Brisbane’s east.

Elly was asleep in the car when her mother ducked into the shop, having left the air conditioning on and the keys in the ignition, but when she returned the car was gone.

“I walked out and the car was gone, and I just said, ‘my car, my baby, my car’s gone, my baby … where’s my baby?’” News.com.au quoted Jodie Harold, 25, as saying.

Police issued a Statewide “amber alert” sending a description of the car to the media, and asking the public to be on the lookout.

But when the thief realised that he had kidnapped a baby, he used Jodie’s mobile phone to call her sister-in-law, and told her that baby Elly would not stop crying.

The car was found abandoned in nearby Wellington Point parked under a shady tree and with the windows down, where baby Elly was reunited with her mom and later taken to Redlands Hospital as a precaution.

“I was 3m away from the car, it was at a guy’s house, he was fixing our TV and I just had to run in and give him money for the quote,” she said.

Her husband Greg agreed that it had been a harrowing day.

“It’s been a stressful day, but the best possible outcome,” he said.

The police are still hunting for the man who stole the black 2003 Holden Vectra hatchback. (ANI)
