The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, popularly known as IIT Bombay or IITB, is an autonomous university located in Powai, in north central Mumbai. It is the second-oldest campus of the Indian Institutes of Technology system and the largest National Institute in the state of Maharashtra.

IIT Bombay ranked as Asia’s 3rd best institute in science and technology.

Ideaz is The pan-IIT Business Idea Challenge organized by The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay in collaboration with e-cells from other IITs.The annual competition is the search for “The most innovative IITian”. Multiple rounds of mentoring and evaluation make Ideaz the ideal platform to transform a simple business idea into a comprehensive business plan.The team members can be students from different IITs.There are two stages for IDEAZ’09 as a competition.

Stage- 1 is completely online and is open to any current student/passed out in 2009 of any IIT. Participating in IDEAZ’09 is just a two step process. Register as team for IDEAZ’09 and Login and Submit your idea by filling in brief questionnaire. Top 10 teams will be selected for Stage-II on the basis of their final/last questionnaire submitted in Stage -1. The decision will be made by an expert judging panel according to the judging criteria specified.

The stage I Schedule is from 10th August – 4th September and Stage II Schedule is from 25nd September – 20th October.

Maharashtra schools, colleges and Cinema Halls closed over swine flu

Maharashtra government has decided to close down all schools, colleges, cinema halls and malls in the Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad area from Monday, 10th August, in an attempt to arrest the spread of swine flu in the state.

Schools and colleges will be closed for entire week, and cinema halls will be shut for three days, a state government spokesman announced here.

Latest casualty of swine flu in pune was a 35-year-old ayurvedic doctor who died of influenza A (H1N1) virus early Monday morning, taking the toll to six in the country. Three of the six swine flu deaths in India so far have taken place in Maharashtra.
