Mickey Rourke sympathises with George W. Bush

Washington, Jan 9 (ANI): Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke has come out in support of US President George Bush, insisting he doesn”t understand why so many people blame Bush for a string of world issues.

In an interview to GQ magazine, the 56-year-old star urges the public to consider the tremendous pressure Bush was under following the terror attacks on the World Trade Centre in 2001.

“President Bush was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I don”t know how anyone could have handled this situation,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“I don”t give a f**k who”s in office, Bush or whoever, there is no simple solution to this problem… I”m not one of those who blames Bush for everything. This s**t between Christians and Muslims goes back to the Crusades, doesn”t it.

“It”s too easy to blame everything on one guy. These are unpredictable, dangerous times, and I don”t think that anyone really knows quite what to do,” he added.

The Wrestler star revealed that he is baffled by the U.K.”s approach to fundamentalists and revealed that he was taken aback by the freedom of speech allowed in the U.K.

“I was in London recently and I couldn”t believe all these hate-talking fanatics you have over here who are allowed to carry on doing their thing even when a bus full of women and children gets blown to pieces,” he said.

“I know you”ve deported one or two of them, but it seems crazy. I think there is worse to come, something terrible will happen to either America or the U.K., or France even.

“I don”t think these fundamentalists should be allowed to talk all this crap, and brainwashing these young kids,” he added. (ANI)

What a refreshing point of view.I hope Hollywood doesn’t punish hi for speaking his mind.

What amazing comment coming from someone attempting a career comeback! I can’t believe that he would risk being ostracized by Hollywood to state the obvious…that the world is dangerous, and our presidents need support, not constant condemnation.

  3. RuskinRip says:

Just when I thought there was no integrity left in HollowWood. Thank you Mr. Rourke!

  4. Excellent! Another actor who is man enough to give an honest opinion that isn’t PC.I am thinking perhaps having to live in the real world and seeing life as it is has allowed Mickey to have an idea of what reality is and is not. It’s always been interesting to me that actors who go through a career low and a personal hell often come back with a more conservative view on things.

While I appreciate the fact this actor is not diseased with “Bush Derangement Syndrome,” I was put off by his comment that, “This s**t between Christians and Muslims goes back to the Crusades, doesn”t it,” as if to say Muslim hostility can be attributed to Christians or Christianity in any way, shape, or form.

Muslim fundamentalists simply hate anyone and everyone who does not see eye to eye with them regarding religion or politics.

To some degree, some of the extremist Muslims may hate Christians for the Crusades, but that would be their own doing, an inability to let go of the past, and not due to anything intrinsically bad about Christianity (i.e., the teachings and life of Jesus Christ) or Christians (i.e., the genuine ones – ones who consistently follow the teachings of Christ).

Fundamentalist Muslims are simply hate-filled people. Trying to blame Christians or whomever or whatever else is misplaced and wrong.

Even if every Christian (and Jew) on the planet were to suddenly disappear tomorrow, the militant Muslims would still continue their “jihad” against other groups.

It’s no wonder Mr. Rourke hasn’t got a ton of work in Hollywood. He actually has a brain and calls it like it is.

  7. jkneer672 says:

Unbelievable!!! Mickey has his head screwed on straight. There are so few celebrities with their heads out of the clouds it truly is refreshing to hear one call it truthfully the way it is…GOOD FOR YOU MICKEY!!!!

  8. Rocky Lore says:

Thank God that some people in Hollywood still support America, especially Mickey Rourke, Kelsey Grammer, and Chuck Norris!

  9. Darren says:

Good for him. The guy is a maverick. Here comes the wringing of hands from the usual crew of whiners.

  10. Kate says:

Good for Mickey. I must admit I thought he had really gone over the edge in his long absence from Hollywierd, but obviously that’s helped his perspective on the reality of terrorism and muslims taking over the world. Europe is ridiculously PC and now I see the same thing in the US. Wake up people!!! I have a new found respect for Mickey. I hope he wins the Oscar as well!!!

  11. Right on. All this Bush blaming will be looked back on the same way we view the Salem Witch Trials. Its been a witchhunt, I wonder who they’ll blame next?
