Women’s basketball player for Phoenix Mercury, Diana Taurasi,27,has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol. It’s no secret that Phoenix G Diana Taurasi drinks.
Taurasi was asked to give a blood sample to test for her alcohol content.
Phoenix Mercury won over the Seattle Storm on July 1, 2009.
Yet expects her leading scorer (21.2) to play on Sunday in Los Angeles.

It’s no secret that Phoenix G Diana Taurasi drinks. She’ll readily talk about vodka and wine in lighter off-court moments. But it appears she went too far following the big win against Seattle on Wednesday.
Taurasi, 27, was cited for drunken driving. Phoenix GM Ann Meyers-Drysdale wouldn’t comment to local reporters until more information was made available, yet expects her leading scorer (21.2) to play on Sunday in Los Angeles.
How is this right? Detroit C Kara Braxton was suspended six games this season for her second DUI offense and two for her first. Given that Taurasi (pictured right) is an important face of the league with milk commercials and leading the All-Star game vote, shouldn’t she be punished to show this type of behavior is unacceptable? At the very least, Taurasi should be held out of the game until all information is revealed concerning her DUI citation to show the organization is taking this seriously.

Diana Taurasi, the women’s basketball player for Phoenix Mercury, has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol. Taurasi was stopped in her car at 2:30 am July 2. Taurasi was speeding when the officer pulled her overdiana taurasi.
When the officer smelled alcohol on her breath, he gave her a few field sobriety tests. Taurasi was asked to give a blood sample to test for her alcohol content.

How is it possible that Kara was suspended and Diana not?
How about Dianas blood test may show she wasn’t drunk?
She hasn’t been convicted of anything yet, Kara had been convicted, twice, when given her 6 game suspension. Diana has been suspemded two games for mouthing off to the refs, you really don’t think the league is protecting her at this point because it’s pretty obviuos they have no problem suspending her….but my guess is they are at least smart enough to get the results of her test to see if her blood alcohol level WAS above the legal limit before issuing a punishment.
And just an FYI…when in Russia Diana has a driver provided by the team
